    Thank you for following
A convincing win for United on their pre-season travels.
Thank you for watching it along with us and we will see you back for the next United game.
    Coming up
So that’s two games done and two encouraging wins for Manchester United.
Up next they face Crystal Palace and Aston Villa to finish off their tour, before playing Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano at the end of the month as their final friendlies.
And then, at last, it is Brighton at Old Trafford on the opening weekend of the season.
FT Melbourne Victory 1-4 Manchester United
Nani, introduced in the last few minutes of the game, has given his reaction to MUTV as he played against his former club seven years after leaving.
He said: “That was fantastic. What a great feeling when you can feel the love from the fans and you come on and see some old teammates. All the good memories came back and make you feel like you are missing the old times. But you have to look forward and I hope to wish the club and team all the best and they start winning all the trophies again.
[On Melbourne] “They are the best fans in the country and I look forward to sharing the stadium with them. [I hope we] have success, work together and I can’t wait for the first game and work together
[On coming off the bench] “No I was not nervous, I was so happy. I wanted to play. Once I came on the field, I thought I could have played more minutes. But we played a great game and are still working and I hope both of these teams have a lot of success this season.
FT Melbourne Victory 1-4 Manchester United
Erik ten Hag has given his reaction to MUTV and said he was impressed with the persistence his players showed in the face of the Australian defence.
He said: “It was difficult for us to create chances but the team reacted really good [to the Melbourne goal] and we created three or four good chances before half time and we turned it around.
“I would say against opponents who come forward it can sometimes be more easy. But when opponents are sat back you have to do more with your decisions and have more intelligence to create something.”
When asked about the impressive performances of the youngsters, he added: “That’s why we took them with us so they get a chance to show what they can contribute to Manchester United. There are lot of possibilities there and it’s good that United have some talent but they also need improvement and development.”
FT Melbourne Victory 1-4 Manchester United
Erik ten Hag will be fairly happy with that, with a couple of performances in particular noteworthy for the new boss.
In the first half, Fernandes and Sancho came alive after 20 minutes and dictated a lot of United’s best forward plays. McTominay and Fred both looked more lively and active than they have for large periods of the last couple of years.
In the second-half once again the youngsters Iqbal, Chong and Savage in particular impressed. And a massive condience-boosting goal for Rashford.
FT Melbourne Victory 1-4 Manchester United
Scott McTominay, who scored a fluky equalising goal, has given his reaction to MUTV on the United victory.
He said: “They were difficult to get through and that forced us to go down the sides. And we kept patient, didn’t panic going a goal down and we can still improve.”
On his goal, he added: “They got a lucky block on my first one but as I say it’s cut backs, getting in the box, and we can all score more goals.
“It’s a massive stadium, it’s amazing to see so many red shirts as well. The fans were outside the hotel as well and they’ve given us crazy support.”
Full-Time: Melbourne Victory 1-4 Manchester United
It’s another win by a three goal margin and another very encouraging victory for Erik ten Hag.
While they took a while to get going in the first half, they showed a commitment to their possession football and seemed to have adapted well to the stylistic changes brought in by their new manager.
And several players showed brilliant moments of quality, with Chong at the end adding his name to that list as he created the fourth goal. Rashford, Martial and McTominay got the other goals as United came from a goal down to recover.
    Melbourne Victory 1-4 Manchester United
89′ Own goal and the cherry on top of the cake for United! Tahith Chong had a bit of space out wide, showed a brilliant turn of pace and drove a low ball in.
Lupancu then converts it into his own net as he makes a desperate attempt to clear.
    Melbourne Victory 1-3 Manchester United
87′ Nani may have just triggered quite literally the biggest cheer of the night as he comes on as part of multiple Melbourne substitutions.
He looks quite emotional as he is greeted warmly by all 100,000 fans in the stadium.
    Melbourne Victory 1-3 Manchester United
85′ A big cheer as Nani emerges from the dugout. The ex-United winger is about to come on with only a few minutes to go.
    Melbourne Victory 1-3 Manchester United
84′ Iqbal almost finds Van de Beek with a clipped ball forward, but the Dutchman isn’t tall enough for the pass.
Just a word on Van de Beek, who has been playing higher than usual in the Fernandes role. He hasn’t managed to establish himself enough in this second-half you could argue, and has become a bit lost in the Melbourne defence.
    Melbourne Victory 1-3 Manchester United
82′ Rashford should probably have had a second. Malacia has put a wonderful cross in from the left and Rashford had a free header from about 8 yards out.
He directs it straight at the keeper, and will know he should have done better.
    Melbourne Victory 1-3 Manchester United
80′ Melbourne with their first real chance of the second half.
The sub Velupillay is played in into the box but fires his shot wide at the near post. Heaton was worried enough to commit to the dive.
    Melbourne Victory 1-3 Manchester United
78′ Rashford has wrapped this game up! Bailly, similar to what he did against Liverpool, steps forward and puts a wonderful pass in behind for Rashford to run onto.
And Rashford, like he did back in his vintage days, slips it pass the keeper effortlessly. A big goal to boost his confidence, and a moment of quality by Bailly to try and make ten Hag to forget about his lapses in defence.
    Melbourne Victory 1-2 Manchester United
75′ For the second time in 10 minutes, Eric Bailly has given the ball away from a position that puts United in danger.
Thankfully for the Red Devils, Melbourne don’t take advantage even though it was 2 v 2, with Charlie Savage charging back to make up the numbers.
Erik ten Hag, you have to imagine, will be taking notes on Bailly’s laxness in possession.
    Melbourne Victory 1-2 Manchester United
73′ Brimmer’s free-kick from wide is comfortably caught by Heaton.
Another United counter-attacking opportunity comes to an end as they once again fail to make the decisive pass.
    Melbourne Victory 1-2 Manchester United
69′ Almost calamity there for United. Bailly casually knocks the ball forward but he hits the sub Velupillay who closed him down.
The ball almost drops for a Melbourne attacker in the box after the deflection but Heaton leapt on it.
    Melbourne Victory 1-2 Manchester United
67′ Melbourne make a couple of changes, including Folami coming off and being replaced by Velupillay.
Meanwhile, Savage pings a beautiful ball over the top which finds Van de Beek, but he was offside and hit the side netting anyway.
    Melbourne Victory 1-2 Manchester United
65′ A counter-attacking opportunity now as United broke from a Melbourne corner. Van de Beek and Chong had a miscommunication at a crucial moment that saw the attack result in the corner.
Izzo leaps to snatch the ball out of the air from the set-piece.
    Melbourne Victory 1-2 Manchester United
63′ Amad wins the ball on the edge of the box and he had Rashford free in the centre. But the youngster dinks the ball into the keeper’s gloves, almost as though he was halfway between a shot and a cross. Good opportunity for the Ivorian to make an impact.
    Melbourne Victory 1-2 Manchester United
56′ Absolutely wonderful skill by Zidane Iqbal there that will leave United fans purring. He spins a Melbourne defender on the edge of the box before driving into the penalty area.
His cross doesn’t find Rashford unfortunately but he will gain a lot of confidence from that outrageous piece of trickery.
    Melbourne Victory 1-2 Manchester United
53′ Telles, interestingly, is playing at centre-back alongside Bailly. Will be interesting to see how the defender, normally at left-back, deals with any attacks from Melbourne, which don’t look like happening any time soon.
    Melbourne Victory 1-2 Manchester United
52′ So we have Malacia and Laird playing at full-back, Savage, Iqbal and Van de Beek in midfield, and a front three of Rashford, Amad and Chong up front.
So far United are just keeping the ball and trying to get the second-half team settled in. Iqbal and Savage looking comfortable in midfield again.
47′ Melbourne Victory 1-2 Manchester United
So apart from goalkeeper Heaton, the entire United team has changed.
It is now Heaton, Bailly, Rashford, Malacia, Amad, Telles, Van de Beek, Laird, Chong, Savage and Iqbal on the field.
We’re still trying to work out who exactly is playing where.
    No changes for Melbourne.
Half-time: Melbourne Victory 1-2 Manchester United
We are seeing a bunch of subs being made for United, including Rashford, Iqbal and Van de Beek all coming on.
The second half is about to get underway.

But there were concerns down the other end as David de Gea was forced off injured.

    Diallo gets new nickname
Man United starlet Amad Diallo has been given a nickname by Bruno Fernandes after featuring in the Red Devils’ thrashing of Liverpool.
Diallo uploaded a montage of snaps from the clash on Instagram following the game.
And Fernandes commented under the post, saying: “bravo piccolo”.
Piccolo could be a reference to the Italian definition of the word which means “small, little, or young.”
All three characteristics apply to the 20-year-old Diallo who’s 5’4ft tall.
    Ten Hag critiques United perfomance
Erik ten Hag has insisted he is not entirely happy with his Manchester United team – despite their 4-0 thrashing of Liverpool in a pre-season game.
The new boss oversaw a dream start to his reign as the Red Devils ran rampant in the Bangkok-based friendly.
The Dutch boss told MUTV: “I know we have good players, now we have to construct a team. I’m happy with the first game.
“It will take lots of time [to get this team playing my way]. I have seen a lot of mistakes today. Let’s be honest, Liverpool plays in three teams, they were not at their strongest.
“We must not overestimate this result, but still I have seen some really good things. We have a lot of creativity and speed up front. Like I said, we have potential.”
    Carvalho rues United loss
New Liverpool signing Fabio Carvalho has admitted losing to Man United on his debut was a bittersweet experience.
But the attacking midfielder vowed to get vengeance the next time the Reds meet United in a competitive match.
The Portuguese ace said: “I‘m just thankful to be here and hopefully next game we can put things straight.
“Today it was a bit bittersweet for me because obviously it was my first game for Liverpool.
“No one likes to get beat, especially against United, but I’m sure we will be working on that for the next time we play against them, and I hit the post but next game I’m sure I will get a goal—that’s the mentality I have to go with.”
    United face title jibe
Man United fell victim to a cheeky dig from former Liverpool ace Jose Enrique after they crushed the Reds in their pre-season friendly.
The Red Devils were handed a dazzling trophy for the friendly victory.
And ex-Red Enrqiue couldn’t resist poking fun at United for winning their first trophy in ages as he put it.
Enrique quipped on Twitter: “First title for a long time. Congratulations Manchester United.”
    Klopp on Liverpool loss
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has admitted Man United were the better team after the Reds lost to their bitter adversaries.
Klopp said after the game: “The result is there, so we have to accept that.
“But of course I think it’s clear we could have scored our goals as well. Then it would have been an even more spectacular game.
“The goals we gave away for United, we nearly got assists for it, to be honest. But they used the chances and that’s how it is. But I saw a lot of really good stuff from my team as well. The game obviously came a little bit early for us and a few of our players.
“It was pretty clear where we made the mistakes but you have to keep on playing and that’s what we did and we could have scored three or four in the last five minutes – but we didn’t and that’s our fault.
“Atmosphere great, welcome fantastic, organisation really, really good. But result not.”
    Ten Hag on United’s win
Erik ten Hag is pleased with his Man United squad after they destroyed Liverpool in Asia.
Speaking after United’s heroics, the Dutchman said to MUTV: “Of course we are satisfied with today, because I think that was a team with a great spirit.
“We know we are just starting. We did the press; we made some mistakes in pressing and conceded some chances, but also we created lots.
“I thought our team played brave, played proactive and we had to play really hard to get out of the mistakes, but we are happy with the first game.
“I know we have good players,” he added. “We have started the first game and I am happy.”
    Savage Maradona
Robbie Savage compared his son Charlie to Maradona after the youngster featured in Man United’s win over Liverpool.
Charlie came off the bench as United romped home to a 4-0 win in Asia over their Northern neighbours.
And dad Robbie was delighted by the Maradona-esque skills he witnessed from his descendant.
Robbie beamed on social media: “So so proud. I thought you were terrific, a Maradona turn on edge of your own box. Who did you get that from? Finally, a savage that can play.”
    Malacia soaks in experience
New Man United signing Tyrell Malacia was blown away by his debut experience with the club.
Malacia recently joined United from Feyenoord for £13m.
And his United career got off to a flying start as he participated in crushing Liverpool 4-0 in the club’s pre-season friendly.
Speaking on the game, he said: “I’m very happy.
“It feels amazing to be here, to wear this shirt and play with these people.
“It was difficult because of the weather, it’s very hot, but we made it.”
King Erik brings home the spoils

‘The game came too early for us’ – Klopp
Jurgen Klopp has had his say on the 4-0 defeat:
Obviously the game came a little bit too early for us, for some of our boys, so I think we agree that we saw a lot of good things in this game, but in the decisive moments we were not clear enough with finishing our situations off. We gave massive chances away. Pretty much no-brainers, but United did well in these moments, they finished the situations off.Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool boss

Klopp singing the praises of Elliott
During a largely disappointing evening for Liverpool fans, seeing Harvey Elliott back playing would have been a silver lining. He looked very sharp in the first half, but there is quite some competition for places in Liverpool’s front three.
In the lead up to the game, Liverpool’s boss spoke highly of the youngster:
We should not forget that in the first four games of last season, Harvey Elliot was the best player. He was outstanding.Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool boss

Liverpool preparations off to a poor start
A friendly loss shouldn’t bother Jurgen Klopp too much, but there may be some worry creeping into Liverpool fans as they prepare to face Manchester city in the FA Community Shield later this month.
They have three more games to get ready:

    Crystal Palace
    RB Leipzig
    Salzburg

    Manchester United’s next 5 fixtures
After a brilliant result today, Ten Hag’s men have the opportunity to build on it with five more games before they play their first game of the season against Brighton on August 8th.
    Up next on their tour:

    Melbourne Victory
    Crystal Palace
    Aston Villa
    Atletico Madrid
    Rayo Vallecano

A new reign in the rain
There was a different feel to the Manchester United of last season today in the Bangkok rain. The players looked hungry, passionate and like they wanted to win; a regular criticism of the side under Ralf Rangnick.
Manchester United fans will head into the Premier League season hopeful that their new boss can change the tides at the club and bring silverware to Old Trafford.

    Silencing the critics
Many Manchester United players took a lot of criticism last season for a series of poor results. But few took more stick than Fred. Today, he proved fans wrong, producing a wonderful chip over Alisson.
Out of favour Martial, was also effective up front today, causing Liverpool plenty of problems at the back. Might he still have a future in Manchester?
Sancho was perhaps the standout performer. Labelled as a ‘flop’ last season, he was a part of everything United did right today.

Jurgen Klopp replaced his entire outfield team after Fred scored United’s second. He then did the exact same in the 60th minute, fielding his traditionally strongest team.
In the second half, it was effectively Liverpool’s A team vs Manchester United’s B team. But Ten Hag’s men managed to sustain the pressure and pulled through. Liverpool certainly helped them along the way, missing a multitude of opportunities.

    A day of debuts
Today saw the first glimpses of several new signings for both clubs.
Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho was unlucky not to score in the first half, whilst Darwin Nunez came close on a couple of occasions, missing a golden opportunity late in the second half.
Tyrell Malacia also looked good for United, as he looks to push for a regular place in the starting lineup.

A satisfied Ten Hag has his say
Manchester United boss spoke to MUTV after the game, stressing the win should not be overestimated:
I am satisfied today. It was a team with great spirit and we know we are just getting started. We made some mistakes in the press, we conceded some chances, but we created a lot. I know we have good players. We have started to build a team and I am happy with the first game. It will take a lot of time. I have seen a lot of mistakes. Liverpool played three teams. They were not at their strongest. We will not overestimate this result. But still, I have seen some really good things. A lot of speed and creativity up front.Erik Ten Hag, Manchester United boss

And Carlos Sainz looked to be gaining momentum in third spot before a engine failure sent his Ferrari up in flames.
Which then presented the opportunity for seven-time champion Lewis Hamilton to claim the final spot on the podium

    Carlos Sainz reacts
When speaking to Sky Sports, Sainz said:
“I knew there was something wrong as soon as it happened.
“There was no feedback that it was about to happen. It was very sudden and it is hard because it was a big loss of points and a potential one-two for the team.
“I saw a lot of fire and damage and we will have to look at why this is.
“It is more difficult to take because we were about to bring in a very big result to cut the gap to Max and Red Bull, but it is still a long season ahead.”

    Sergio Perez reacts
When questioned by Sky Sports about his early exit from the race, Perez said:
“It is a big shame for us, I clearly felt that we did everything we could to avoid an incident.
“George couldn’t control the speed into turn four and and we ended up making contact when I was clearly ahead.
“I am sorry for what happened to Carlos Sainz but that is nothing to do with us.
“The car has not been up there this week so there is some good analysis to be done.”

    Christian Horner reacts
When speaking to Sky Sports, the Red Bull chief said:
“They were very important points today and congratulations to Ferrari, they had a quicker car throughout the majority of the race.
“Max was coming back at the end there but our tyre deg was higher from halfway through the first stint and it was hard to combat that.
“Ferrari just seemed lighter on the tyres and obviously they had a pace advantage and that gives you more strategic options.
“Losing Checo was obviously hugely disappointing.
“It is unlucky for them today with Carlos but our pace at the end of the race, we still have the fastest lap, but we didn’t have the range we had yesterday and that is something we need to understand.
“Over the two races we have only given away five points with Max so it is not too bad. We will bounce back in France.”

“It’s been a bit of a rough weekend, but really grateful that as a team we got third and fourth so we move on from here.
“I do want to say a thank you to the men and women in the garage who worked so hard to rebuild the car.
“I had a brand new car on Saturday morning, I made a mistake on Friday, not something I do often.”

    Max Verstappen reacts
    “It was a tricky day.
“It seemed like we were struggling quite a bit with the tyres, and that happened on every compound – too much degradation on the tyres.
“But second place is still a good result for us on a tricky day.”

    Charles Leclerc reacts
“It was a really good race. The pace was there. At the beginning we had some good fights with Max and the end was incredibly difficult.
“I had this issue with the throttle. It would get stuck at 20 or 30 per-cent throttle in the low speeds, so it was very tricky.
“We managed to make it stick until the end and I am so happy.
“Weirdly [the throttle issue] was more or less the same time [as Sainz’s retirement], so I had it in my mind.
“I knew it was not a problem with the engine because it was the pedal that was feeling weird. Luckily it went until the end of the race.
“I definitely needed that one. The last five races have been incredibly difficult for myself and for the team.
“To finally show that we have the pace in the car and we can do it is incredible. We need to push until the end.”

    Chisora vs Pulev
Round 1 – Opening round threatened to be a scrappy one but it kicked into life towards the end.
Chisora landed some decent body shot and at one point had Pulev cornered but had to bob and weave out of trouble himself.
A right hand over the top grazed Pulev and the Bulgarian was also troubled by some jabs of Chisora’s.
    Chisora vs Pulev
Here we go, first round is underway.
Chisora stars on the front foot but the pair tussle as things get ugly early.
The Londoner is jabbing to the stomach and getting low, underneath Pulev’s punches.
    Chisora vs Pulev
We are moments away from the first bell.
Derek Chisora and Kubrat Pulev do battle again – six years since their first war.
So much to gain for the winner, just as much if not more to lose though.
    Del boy enters
Pulev is joined shortly after by Chisora, who switches up his usual ring walk of Hotel California.
O2 erupts as the popular heavyweight graces the ring yet again.
But he does so this time potentially fighting for his career in another tough fight.
    HERE COMES PULEV
Kubrat Pulev makes his way to the ring, met with a chorus of boos.
He beat Derek Chisora in 2016 by split-decision in Germany.
And he says he will do it again, this time in Chisora’s hometown.
    Prizefighter
Derek Chisora’s early career was marred by wild antics more worthy of the NME than the Boxing News but eight years of parenthood have mellowed the father of two — just.
He even reckons his hellraising heyday will help guarantee him a nice and sensible retirement.
Chisora said: “Life is about enjoyment. There is no point being a great athlete if you don’t enjoy the fruits of being an athlete.
“Cristiano Ronaldo enjoys his money in a different way — he has seven Bugattis, flies in private jets.
“But you can get good athletes who don’t do anything and then the day they announce their retirement, they start trying to catch up on the 16 or 17 years of living wildly that they missed.
“What happens is you become addicted to alcohol and the fast life, cocaine, everything.
“While you are doing that, others your age are settling down with their families.
“Me? I do both. Not the cocaine. But I go to parties, I enjoy life, I go to nice restaurants, I live in a nice house. And I enjoy life with my kids.”

Shame it is only for eighth place…
Hamilton cannot find a way into the top eight
The Mercedes man simply cannot get past Schumacher, who is occupying the final place in the points.
It is good defending from the German as Hamilton comes close to hitting the back of his car…

Behind them are Russell, Perez, Ocon, Magnussen and Schumacher.

Zhou is back in the pitlane
He will start from there along with Alonso
    Zhou has a problem
Aborted start as Zhou has conked out on the way to the gird at the very last corner.
Bad news for the Chinese driver who had that HUGE crash at Silverstone.

Alonso will now start from the pitlane and the race will now be 23 laps.
    Alonso is in the pitlane
He will be at the back, if he gets out at all.
    Formation lap
But only 19 cars get away and are snaking their way around the Red Bull Ring.
Alonso’s Alpine is stationary and curiously still has the tyre blankets on.
He could be demoted to the back of the grid.
    Sensational setting
The grandstands are all full with orange shirts, the flares are lit and the atmosphere is building.
The DJ decks have been cleared from the gird and it is almost time for the second sprint race of the season.

    Red Bull pair get tips

McLaren ace Norris heads into the race in the 15th position.
Red Bull star Sergio Perez is slightly ahead of Norris in 13th spot on the grid.
Perez lost his spot in fourth due to track limits infringements which have pushed him down to 16th.
And Norris plans to tie himself to Perez to improve his final standing.
He said: “I’ve got a rope, I’m attaching it to Perez who’s in front of me, and I’ll follow him the whole way. It’s as simple as that!”
    Verstappen leads pack into race

It comes after both drivers crashed in FP2.
    Ecclestone issues war apology
Bernie Ecclestone has apologised if he offended anybody by appearing to support Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Russia.
Ecclestone insisted that he didn’t mean any harm by his comments, and apologised if he did as he empathizes with the people from Ukraine.
He said: “I think often people come out and say things or do things without really too much thinking.
“Probably I did the same. I can understand people thinking I’m defending what he’s done in Ukraine, which I don’t.
“I feel sorry for the people in Ukraine having to suffer for something they haven’t done,” Ecclestone went on to say. “They’ve done nothing wrong. They didn’t start anything. They want to get on with their lives.
“So they don’t deserve to have to suffer.
“It’s not good for anybody. I can’t see anybody getting anything out of this and I think they should get together and get an agreement.
“And I’m sorry if anything I’ve said has upset anybody because it certainly wasn’t intended.”
    Leclerc rift dismissed by Ferrari
Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto has dismissed reports suggesting he and Charles Leclerc had a rift.
He said: “I meet the drivers after each race and have a discussion to review the race situation.
“Charles was in Monaco and in the back-to-back [races], it was the best opportunity for me to meet him, simply to go there.
“We had dinner, we were laughing together reading the newspapers because we knew that [what was being written] was completely wrong.
“He was very happy to meet and discuss, move forward, and be constructive on some of the scenarios and the best chance for us to be strong in the following races.”
    Hamilton takes crash responsibilty
Lewis Hamilton has taken responsibility for his crash during qualifying.
Hamilton was doing well before he crashed into a tyre wall, and he apologised on the team radio saying: “I’m incredibly disappointed in myself ultimately and so sorry to the team.
“Everyone worked so hard to put the car together – and I never like to bring it back damaged. I don’t have an answer right now to what happened. I lost the back end in turn seven and that was that. I was encouraged to see our performance, though.
“I think we were fighting for a top three start – and we weren’t expecting to be that close. That’s a huge positive for the team. I’m starting quite far back, and I’m not sure what’s possible from there. We have the Sprint as well as the race on Sunday – hopefully I can make up for some lost time.”
