    That is all!
That is all for SunSport’s coverage of Udinese 1-3 Chelsea.
Thank you, as always for joining us. It is always a pleasure to have your company, and we hope that you join us again for our coverage of Manchester United vs Atletico Madrid tomorrow, which starts at 11:15.
In the meantime be sure to check out today’s other news, as Ronaldo confirmed he WILL play for Manchester United on Sunday, and Alex Ferguson returned to Manchester United too!
    You never forget your first…
That’s how the saying goes, but we are not sure Raheem Sterling will remember, or be entirely fond of his first goal for Chelsea.
The new signing got through on goal before trying to dink the keeper, which would have been glorious.
But the ball bounced off Silvestre, onto Sterling, back over the keeper and over the line to give the blues a 2-0 lead.
However, a deflection gets the same amount of points as a screamer, so the Chelsea faithful will take it nonetheless.
    And the lad was brilliant.
    God save Raheem.

    Man of the match
There were a lot of great performances in there for Chelsea tonight.
All three goalscorers were excellent, and Marcos Alonso and Hudson Odoi were great in the full back positions too.
But the SunSport man of the match can only go to one man, and tonight it is N’golo Kante.
The Frenchman looked back to his brilliant best tonight, he was tenacious and often spun two midfielders to create space in good areas.
Not to mention his absolute stunner of a goal.
Who was your man of the match?

    Brilliant Chelsea.
Thomas Tuchel’s blues were excellent tonight.
Goals from Raheem Sterling, N’golo Kante and Mason Mount ensured that the blues ran out winners in Udine in very warm conditions.
Chelsea created lots of chances, with the front three in particular looking very fluid, but they were missing that clinical touch.
Sterling alone on another night could have had a hat-trick, as he was not at his devastating best, despite a very good performance.
That is just what Chelsea needed before heading to the dreaded Goodison Park for the opening day of the Premier League season.

    Full Time. Udinese 1-3 Chelsea.
Job done for Chelsea in Udine.
Stay with us for some post match reaction on this one!
    90. Udinese 1-3 Chelsea.
There are five minutes of added time.
    90. Udinese 1-3 Chelsea.
That is brilliant from Hudson Odoi.
He has been excellent since coming on, and he runs beyond the full back before serving a cross on a platter for Mason Mount to tap in.
    No mistake from the Englishmen.
    90. Udinese 1-3 Chelsea.
    Goal for Chelsea! Mason Mount!
    88. Udinese 1-2 Chelsea.
Alonso drives forwards brilliantly, and picks out Mason Mount.
But Mount’s pass is just off the pace.
    86. Udinese 1-2 Chelsea.
Chelsea look to be seeing this one out.
Azpilicueta is closed down and puts the ball out of play for a throw in.
    84. Udinese 1-2 Chelsea.
Raheem Sterling comes off now for Kenedy.
Billy Gilmour is also coming on for Jorginho.
    82. Udinese 1-2 Chelsea.
Callum Hudson Odoi has been bright since coming on in the right wing back role.
He has got a few good crosses in, and looked sharp all round.
He could be in for a few more minutes in the Premier League this season, given that there are now five substitutes.
Hudson Odoi will be looking for more game time this season for Chelsea.Credit: Getty
    77. Udinese 1-2 Chelsea.
It should really be three, four or five for Chelsea here.
They have not been clinical enough, despite doing really well to create a lot of chances.
    75. Udinese 1-2 Chelsea.
Hudson Odoi gets involved early and whips a great ball in, but no one can get on the end of it.
A great ball then comes in from the left hand side towards him and he strikes a volley just wide of the left post.
    A bright start for CHO.
    73. Udinese 1-2 Chelsea.
Harvey Vale, Callum Hudson Odoi and Emerson Palmeiri are coming on for Chelsea.
Reece James, Kalidou Koulibaly and Kai Havertz come off.
    68. Udinese 1-2 Chelsea.
Mason Mount is caught in two minds and looks for Raheem Sterling with the pass, but he should have had a shot at goal.
    The pass is cut out.
    67. Udinese 1-2 Chelsea.
Mount is found brilliantly by Azpilicueta.
He looks for Raheem Sterling, but the ball deflects into the path of Kai Havertz, who is somehow called for offside, despite the defender getting the last touch.
    65. Udinese 1-2 Chelsea.
Koulibaly looks long and direct to Raheem Sterling, but it doesn’t reach it’s target.
Udinese break and Koulibaly slides and wins a foul.
    63. Udinese 1-2 Chelsea.
Udinese are having a bit more of the ball here, but they don’t seem to be able to do anything with it.
One or two Chelsea players are warming up on the bench.
Harvey Vale and Hudson Odoi are among them.
    61. Udinese 1-2 Chelsea.
    Unlucky Raheem!
Sterling fires a shot at goal which takes a deflection and hits the post!
    60. Udinese 1-2 Chelsea.
Isaac Success does not live up to his surname, as the ball falls to him on the left side of the box and he drags it wide of the right post.
    58. Udinese 1-2 Chelsea.
Mount looks on it tonight, as he is combining really well with Alonso on the left-hand side.
Sterling drives to the byline and gets the cross in, but no one is in the middle to head it in.
Raheem Sterling scored his first goal for Chelsea against Udinese.Credit: Getty
    56. Udinese 1-2 Chelsea.
I mean, that is a rugby tackle from Masina on Kai Havertz.
No idea why he has not been booked for that…
    54. Udinese 1-2 Chelsea.
    Sterling should score.
He should have a hat-trick here, Raheem Sterling.
Havertz sends a bit of a dodgy pass across goal for Sterling, he takes a poor first touch and then tries a back heel, but it is blocked.
    52. Udinese 1-2 Chelsea.
A great ball from Thiago Silva finds Mason Mount, his touch lets him down and he gets stood on, so he goes down.
Kante then spins two Udinese defenders and fires a shot towards the top corner, but it is saved by the keeper.

F1 Hungarian Grand Prix LIVE RESULTS: Latest from Practice Sainz tops FP1, Verstappen in second, Hamilton SEVENTH

MAX VERSTAPPEN will be looking to further assert his dominance on this F1 season with another race win this weekend in Hungary. Chalres Leclerc is the Dutchman’s closest competitor this year, but it looks as if Verstappen is going to seal a second successive gong.
Lewis Hamilton is still fighting, as is Leclerc’s team-mate Carlos Sainz, but a win could all but wrap up the title for Verstappen on Sunday.

Grand Prix date: Sunday, July 31
    Qualifying: Saturday, July 30

    Mercedes are sinking…
Hamilton is now only 14th and Russell in 15th. It is not going well…
    Mercedes still off the pace
Hamilton is 1.9 seconds down on Leclerc. That is a HUGE difference.
    Session under way in Hungary
Busy track already for FP2 as drivers look to make improvements from the earlier session.
Currently have Leclerc, Sainz and Verstappen as the top three..
    Hamilton next to leave F1?
Following Seb Vettel’s retirement announcement, Lewis Hamilton insists he has no plans to step away from F1 just yet.
The Brit said: “It’s a reminder that I’m in that part of my career that people that I came up with, and have raced with for so long, will start to stop.
“Before you know it, Fernando [Alonso] will not be here and then… who is there after that?
“I’ll be the oldest. But no, it’s not made me think about that.”

    Sainz top dog in FP1
Carlos Sainz was 0.130 seconds quicker than Max Verstappen in first practice.
But it’s teammate Charles Leclerc who needs the win in Hungary more than anyone as he looks to resurrect his title challenge.
He was 0.289 seconds off the pace earlier today.
    Hamilton on Vettel
Lewis Hamilton responded to the news with a heartfelt post in which he tweeted: “Seb, it’s been an honour to call you a competitor and an ever greater honour to call you my friend.
“Leaving this sport better than you found it is always the goal.
“I have no doubt that whatever comes next for you will be exciting, meaningful, and rewarding. Love you, man.”
ICYMI – Sebastian Vettel to retire
Sebastian Vettel has confirmed he will retire from Formula 1 at the end of the 2022 season.
The four-time world champion, 35, made his debut in 2007 and has 290 race starts – including 53 wins.

    Tsunoda troubles in Budapest
Yuki Tsunoda locked up going into turn one.
His AlphaTauri’s tyres smoked in FP1 creating this cool snap.

FP1 is done – advantage Ferrari
Sainz tops the session from Verstappen by 0.130 seconds.
Leclerc in third, Norris in fourth in an encouraging sign for McLaren.
Russell fifth, Perez sixth and Hamilton in seventh as Mercedes clearly have their work cut out.
Alpine are in ninth and 10th place with Ocon and Alonso as they sit perhaps a little further back than they’d like to be.
Latifi is slowest with Kubica finishing just ahead of him. Schumacher and Magnussen in the bottom four, not what Haas would have hoped for with all those upgrades.
FP2 is coming up later this afternoon.
    Kubica in 19th
The Polish driver is standing in for Valtteri Bottas for this session but it is difficult to see what he can bring to Alfa Romeo’s improvements.
I know they have chances to offer up slots in FP1, but Kubica is doing very little to impress and it perhaps would have been better to hand that opportunity to a young driver.
    10 minutes to go
Sainz leads Verstappen by just 0.130 seconds. Leclerc is just 0.289 behind his teammate’s best lap time.
It is close between the top three.
Russell is best of the rest in fourth but 0.856 seconds slower than Sainz’s Ferrari, so Mercedes have work to do.
Clear pattern forming at the top
Ferrari, Red Bull, Merc drivers all occupying the top six spaces. Then the two McLarens, then the two AlfaTauris.
At the bottom are the two Aston Martins.
    20 minutes gone
Leclerc tops the timesheets from Verstappen. Sainz in P3 as the usual pecking order forms at the top.
Mercedes in 7th and 8th with Russell and Hamilton.
Norris, Stroll and Vettel are the bottom three at this stage. Norris with fewer laps than anyone else at the foot of the timesheet.
    Plenty of early action
Every driver has been out on track to put in some early laps. That man Verstappen sits at the top of the timesheets.
Russell is on his lap but radios his team to say the car doesn’t sound right.
    We are Go in Budapest
The pitlane is open and the first practice session for the Hungarian GP in underway.
Weather is glorious, warm and sunny. Should be plenty of running.
Expect plenty of laps, especially from the Haas boys, who have a huge set of updated parts for this race.

F1 French Grand Prix LIVE RESULTS: Max Verstappen wins after Leclerc 100mph CRASH with Hamilton SECOND and Russell THIRD

LEWIS HAMILTON is a lot closer to where he will feel he belongs after a second placed finish with Mercedes at the French Grand Prix.Max Verstappen took the chequered flag after his title rival Charles Leclerc span off the track at 100mph.
And fellow British Mercedes driver George Russell will be just as happy with his race after overtaking Sergio Perez late on to secure the final podium place.
Following the Grand Prix, Hamilton said on the team radio: “Great result for the team! Just shows all the hard work we’ve been doing.”

    What a ride
    Another cracking Formula One race.
    Let’s take a look at today’s Top 10…

    Heartbreak for Leclerc
This was the dramatic moment that ended Leclerc’s race and put yet another huge dent into his title ambitions.

    Best of the rest
So amid the drama, Ocon managed to pass Ricciardo as Alpine and McLaren fought for the lower points positions.
Stroll took the final point as he managed to fend off his teammate on the final lap while Aston Martin, Alfa Romeo and Haas have all had fairly dreadful days.

    Charles Leclerc speaks
Charles Leclerc has spoken to Sky Sports F1 after his dramatic crash in the French Grand Prix, and has laid the blame on his own door.
He said: “[It was my] mistake. As I’ve been saying, I think I’ve been performing at the highest level of my career but it is pointless if you make those mistakes.
“So yeah if we lose the Championship by 32 points [the amount of points the driver believes he has lost the team] at the end of the season then it will be unacceptable and I need to get on top of those things.
“I go through the same process all the time. To me it was a mistake and that’s it but I will go through the data.
“I lost the rear. It’s been a very hard weekend for me, I struggled with the balance of the car and I did a mistake at the wrong moment.”
    The Podium
Verstappen stands on the top step of the podium as the drivers prepare to spray each other with champagne.
Hamilton probably just wants to have a lie down, though…

    Down and Out
In the cool-down room, Hamilton is lying on his back on the floor in exhaustion.
The seven times World Champion has revealed his drinking machinery in the car did not work during the race, so his tiredness is understandable.
He, Russell and Verstappen are chatting off-mic while they wait for the podium celebrations.
    Hamilton on his second place
“I have to give it up to the big crowd in France, I think this is the biggest crowd we’ve had here.
“That was a tough race as my drink bottle didn’t work. Big congrats to the team back at the factories and George [Russell] did an amazing work today as well.
“I would imagine I would have lost around three kilos [without being able to hydrate myself during the race].
“I love it in Budapest and hopefully in that race we’ll be even closer.”
    Another dominant win
Verstappen is back in the winning groove and had a 10 second gap to second-pace by the time he crossed the line.
As proved by Leclerc crashing out from the lead, it is not easy to keep up a good pace and concentration, especially in such hot conditions. Great performance from Max.

    What a race!
This race had a little bit of everything, including racing right up to the line as the two Aston Martins scrapped for p10.
In his desperation to pass Stroll, it looked like Vettel may have even touched the back of his teammate’s car. But they both get over the line after some brilliant racing.
    Mercedes double podium
Hamilton comes 2nd on his 300th Grand Prix while Russell holds off Perez to claim third. It’s Mercedes first double podium finish of the season.
MAX VERSTAPPEN WINS THE FRENCH GRAND PRIX!
After Leclerc crashed out, it was straightforward for the Dutchman
    Lap 52/53
Perez is desperate to retake that place back off Russell after that strange overtake.
We could have two laps of epic racing here between these two.
    Lap 50/53
The Virtual Safety Car has ended and we are back underway here.
And within seconds Russell has past Perez! The Red Bull driver must have been sleeping. Russell is two laps away from a podium!
    Zhou has stopped
The Alfa Romeo driver has pulled up on lap 50 out of 53, and we have a virtual safety car. That car will be cleared very quickly and the VSC will neutralise the race.
That’s Zhou’s fifth retirement of the season, the most of any driver.
    Lap 49/53
Russell is still right on the back of Sergio Perez as he tries to hunt down 3rd and a podium. Mercedes are looking for their first double podium finish of the season.
Meanwhile Sainz is back up to 5th after pitting as he got through Alonso. But he’s 20 seconds behind Russell and will now certainly finish p5.
    Meanwhile at Ferrari
The post-race chat will be dominated by another Ferrari inquest after a dreadful day at the office for the Italian team.
Leclerc crashed out in lap 18 and has just admitted to Sky Sports F1 that the crash was a mistake, and not an issue with the car. He is blaming himself.
Meanwhile there is a lot of confusion as to why Carlos Sainz has fought past Perez for p3 and then was told by the team to pit, putting him in p9 (he’s now up to p6).
Ferrari’s strategy has been regularly criticised this season and there are more questions to answer today.
    Lap 45/53
We’ve just had a great few laps in what has been a surprisingly brilliant French Grand Prix.
Russell is furious about the way Perez rejoined the track after Russell went into him, and team boss Toto Wolff had to come onto team radio to tell the British driver to put his head down.
Perez’s tyres look cooked, so we have a proper fight for the podium here.
Verstappen is cruising to victory meanwhile with a 9 second lead over Hamilton.
    Lap 44/53
Unbelievable scenes. Sainz, after passing Perez, has now pitted! What are Ferrari doing? Perhaps his tyres were giving up the ghost, but it appears more confusion on the Ferrari pitwall. Sainz also had to serve his five second penalty.
Russell is less than a second behind Perez and those two have a podium to battle over now Sainz is out of the way. The Ferrari has come out p9.
    Lap 42/53
Epic between Sainz and Perez! Sainz is past the Red Bull after an amazing scrap. And then George Russell misjudges a move and makes contact with Perez! Wow
    Magnussen retires
The contact between Magnussen and Latifi has ended the Haas’ race.
He is the third retiree after Tsunoda and Leclerc.
    Lap 40/53
So Verstappen has a seven second lead on Hamilton.
Perez, in third, has a 2.6 second lead on Sainz in the fight for the podium. The Ferrari driver has to get past and then build a five second lead as he has a penalty.
At the other end of the grid, Kevin Magnussen has clashed with Nicolas Latifi and both have headed into the pits seemingly to repair damage.
It’s the second time today a Haas has been in the wars, after Schumacher was hit by Zhou earlier.
    Team Radio
“Is anyone else having deg[redation on the tyres]?” asks Lewis Hamilton to his race engineers.
It appears to be something that all the drivers are struggling with, after the safety car ruined the chance of two-stop. Everyone looks set to go till the end on worn out tyres.
Meanwhile at Aston Martin, Lance Stroll angrily demands his race engineer leaves him alone after one of the men in the garage tried to chip in with advice.
The Canadian is running 10th, and could pick up his fourth points finish of the season in what is a poor car.
    Alpine v McLaren
We have Alonso sixth, the two McLarens of Norris and Ricciardo in p7 and p8, and the other Alpine of Esteban Ocon in p9.
Alonso appears to have backed the orange cars into his teammate, and there is now a four way scrap underway with Ricciardo under immediate pressure from Ocon on Lap 36
    The tyre dilemma
The safety car has thrown off everyone’s strategy, and means that any pre-race plans for one-stops or two-stops went out the window as everyone pitted after Leclerc’s crash.
The problem is now whether it is worth going to a second stop, with the drivers all seeing their tyres wear out on the hot French track.
Who will be bold enough to risk a second stop to try and make up track positions?
    Lap 32/53
Hamilton could be in some trouble. The Brit went off the track at turn 2 but managed to rejoin quickly after. The incident has now seen him fall 5.8 behind Verstappen, with Perez now only 1.3 seconds behind him.
Red Bull will be targeting the 1-2.

Arsenal 4 Chelsea 0: Jesus, Odegaard, Saka and Lokonga lead Gunners to triumph over poor Blues

ARSENAL destroyed London rivals Chelsea 4-0 at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida. The Gunners saw summer signing Oleksandr Zinchenko making his debut while the Blues had Raheem Sterling registering his first start and Kalidou Koulibaly coming off the bench.
The North Londoners picked up a comfortable victory with Gabriel Jesus and Martin Odegaard on target in the first half before Bukayo Saka and Albert Sambi Lokonga sealed their triumph after the break.
    That’s all from Florida
Arsenal destroyed London rivals Chelsea with a 4-0 triumph to win the Florida Cup at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
The Gunners, who had Oleksandr Zinchenko in their starting line-up, dominated the first half and opened the scoring after just 15 minutes Gabriel Jesus, who netted his fourth goal in as many friendly games.
Trevoh Chalobah gave the ball away and Granit Xhaka set Jesus up in the box to beat Edouard Mendy with a lovely flick.
The North Londoners doubled the lead on 36 minutes when Gabriel Martinelli found Martin Odegaard open in the area and the captain hit the back of the net with a low shot.
Things got worse for Chelsea, who saw Kalidou Koulibaly making his unofficial debut as a second-half substitute, while Raheem Sterling made his first start.
Arsenal sealed the win on 66 minutes when Bukayo Saka beat Mendy from close range after the Blues’ keeper denied both Martinelli and Xhaka – Thomas Tuchel’s men protested for offside but there was no VAR.
Mikel Arteta’s side made it four in the fourth minute of stoppage time when a cross by Cedric Soares from the right found Albert Sambi Lokonga completely open in the far post from where he headed the ball to the back of the net.
That’s all from us here at SunSport, find out more about the game in our full match report
    Tuchel on Koulibaly
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel singled summer signing Kalidou Koulibaly out after his unofficial debut.
Koulibaly didn’t get much time as he came off the bench on 73 minutes but that was still enough to convince his new manager that he was the “best player on the pitch”.
Tuchel said: “Was the best player on the pitch.
“On an evening where nothing felt good, this felt good”
    Credit: GETTY IMAGES
    Jules Kounde situation
Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel was asked about the club’s bid to sign Sevilla stat Jules Kounde after the 4-0 loss to Arsenal.
Kounde was expected to imminently link up with the Blues after being left out of his team’s pre-season tour in Portugal.
However, Barcelona have reportedly swooped in and are likely to hijack the transfer.
Tuchel said: “There is no update.
“We had an urgent appeal for quality players and a huge amount of quality players.
“We got two quality players no doubt but we’re not competitive like this and you could see that today”

    Florida Cup celebrations
Arsenal won the Florida Cup after beating Chelsea 4-0 in Orlando, Florida.
The Gunners have won all of their four friendly matches in pre-season so far.
The North Londoners also enjoyed a stunning US tour as they beat Everton, Orlando City and London rivals Chelsea.
A lot of promising stuff from Mikel Arteta’s men, who fly back to London later today

    Stats
Arsenal dominated 56 per cent of possession throughout the match against Chelsea.
The difference in quality in this game has been absolutely obvious.
The Gunners registered a total of 12 shots, 10 of which were on target.
Chelsea, on the other hand, only managed five shots, one of which was on target
    Summer transfer watch
Tonight’s match between Arsenal and Chelsea saw three summer signings in action.
Raheem Sterling made his first start with the Blues but didn’t manage to stand out after a difficult first half.
Oleksandr Zinchenko made his debut with the Gunners but also didn’t get much in.
Kalidou Koulibaly came on for Chelsea late during the second half and didn’t get much time.
But Koulibaly stood out when he blocked a shot by Nicolas Pepe with a brilliant tackle inside the area that prevented a fifth goal.
All three signings need more time to adapt to their new club during pre-season

    Hats off Harry…
He is just that guy, isn’t he?
King Harry Kane was back at it again today, with two really well taken goals.
The first was a sumptuous finish into the top right hand corner which was expertly taken after he beat a man in the box.
The second was a half volley that was smashed past McGregor in net, who was also excellent today.
He will be waiting for the season to start, as he looks to charge towards another golden boot.

Rangers don’t look to eager to go forwards it must be said, they are remaining fairly slow in the build up.
    86. Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Rangers
Spurs are looking to see this one out, as they are keeping possession pretty well.
The ball is launched up to Richarlison who is fouled once again.
Rangers cannot cope with the pace of the Brazilian.
    84. Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Rangers
Kent does his defensive duties well there, as Rangers make a last ditch effort to rescue a draw.

    68. Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Rangers
Kane does brilliantly in midfield with a chop to beat the Rangers midfielder, he sends Richarlison on his way, who is absolutely chopped down.

    56. Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Rangers
The ball finds Kane in the box on the half volley and he smashes it low past McGregor, who had no chance of stopping that.
Harry Kane is absolutely electric at the minute, there is no stopping him.
    55. Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 Rangers
    Goal! Kane at the double!
    53. Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Rangers
Rangers come close with a move that swings from fullback to fullback.
It lands at the feet of Tavernier, but his shot goes over the bar.
    51. Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Rangers
That is trademark Harry Kane, for his 4th goal of pre-season.
He gets one on one with Connor Goldson inside the area, a body feint sends him the wrong way, and he just bends it into the top right corner.
    Wow.
    50. Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Rangers
    What. A. Goal. Harry Kane.
    48. Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 Rangers
Kulusevski wins a free kick on the right hand side for Spurs.
The outcome is a corner, for Son to whip in.
    46. Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 Rangers
We are back underway at Ibrox!
Early chance for Spurs as Sessegnon drives forwards and receives a good back heel from Davinson Sanchez!
His shot however, is saved by McGregor – again.
Half Time. Tottenham Hotspur 0-1 Rangers
It’s half time here at Ibrox, and it is Rangers who have the lead.
Spurs have been on top of this really intense affair, but have failed to capitalise on any of their chances.
McGregor has been excellent in the Rangers net, and it will be exciting to see what the second half brings…

    LECLERC GETS POLE
The crowd go wild for the Ferrari man who takes pole ahead of Verstappen.
That was a fantastic lap, with a little bit of help from his teammate.
Perez is third, Hamilton will start fourth in his 300th race. Norris fifth and Russell is sixth.
    Leclerc vrs Verstappen?
Who is going to snatch pole, there is barely anything to pick between the two.
I expect both teams to use their other drivers to give their teammates a tow.
    Big cheers for Leclerc
He takes provisional pole after the first runs in Q3. But it is very close with Verstappen right behind him.
Perez in third, Russell fourth and Hamilton fifth after the first attempt.
    Q3 is go
Top 10 battle has started with the two Red Bulls out on track first.
    Ricciardo is OUT
Another miserable weekend confirmed for Ricciardo, who is out in Q2. He is knocked out along with Ocon, Bottas, Vettel and Albon.
However, all a due to move forward a few places on Sunday owing to penalties to Sainz and Magnussen.
    Mercedes could be in trouble?
Both Hamilton and Russell are struggling here. Russell is in 11th and Hamilton in 8th.
Surely they won’t be out in Q2?
Meanwhile, Sainz is looking good and has gone quickest overall – nearly a second on Verstappen. Whoosh!
    Q2 is go
The battle to reach the top 10 is underway. Can Albon make it into Q3? Will there be another big name missing out?
    Gasly is OUT
Disaster for the Frenchman in his home race. He is out in Q1. Such a shame as he was hoping for such a good performance here.
He’d been looking good, but it out. Stroll, Zhou, Schumacher and Latifi are out.
Aston Martin in the drop zone
Both Vettel and Stroll are in the bottom five and risk being eliminated at the first hurdle. Another dreadful weekend lies ahead.
Latifi, Magnussen and Zhou also find themselves in the drop zone.
    Qualifying is go
Battle to reach the top 15 on the grid has started in France. Who will take pole? Verstappen, Sainz or Leclerc?
    Red Bull tipped for greatness
Red Bull can become unstoppable if they continue in the form they’ve been in so far.
That’s according to ex-F1 driver Anthony Davidson who made the claim after Verstappen clinched victory in FP3.
He said: “If Red Bull have been able to engineer and keep the speed that they had yesterday in the long runs, and still continue the short runs then they are kind of unstoppable.
“But you never know this year. It’s up and down, up and down, the way you want it.
“You win the trophies and you spray the champagne on Sunday afternoon. It’s not all about qualifying.
“Ferrari learnt that in Austria and I think they’re putting that into practice here as well. Sunday is where they want to make it good.”
    Verstappen does some juggling
Max Verstappen decided to do some juggling after his win in FP3.
The Red Bull ace cruised to victory in the final practice session ahead of tomorrow’s qualifying showdown.
And he tweeted alongside a shot of him juggling: “Next up: Qualifying KeepPushing #FrenchGP.”

FP3 is done – Verstappen quickest
The world champion remains in P1. He is 0.354 seconds ahead of Sainz, who is second.Leclerc is third and Hamilton in fourth.
At the other end, Vettel, Schumacher, Stroll and Ocon end up in the bottom four.
    Five minutes to go
Aston Martin’s duo are in the bottom two places, despite some floor upgrades this weekend.
McLaren, who had by far the biggest set of new parts are in eighth and 10th with Norris and Ricciardo.
It is Verstappen, Sainz, Leclerc, Hamilton, Perez, Russell.
    Ricciardo struggling
Just when he was defending his position in the McLaren team, he is having another terrible day behind the wheel.
He has just improved his time with a run on soft tyres but is still only in 10th almost a second off the pace of Verstappen, who remains in P1.
    Hamilton shows his pace
The Mercedes man is on a flying run and sets the fastest time in sector 1.
His total lap time is good enough for P3 behind Verstappen and Sainz.
But Verstappen has yet to run on the faster soft tyres. His best time was on the mediums.
    Verstappen sets the pace
The Red Bull man occupies P1 for the time being ahead of his teammate Sergio Perez.
The Ferrari duo are just coming out on track.
    FP3 is go
Final chances to make improvements before qualifying.
    Sainz questions Ferrari hierarcy
Carlos Sainz has disputed claims that Charles Leclerc is the No1 driver at Ferrari.
He told Marca: “None of that has come to me.
“I arrive every weekend knowing that I can fight freely with Charles, although you always respect your team-mate more.
“I come here with the same mentality.”
    Russell receives warm welcome
George Russell was mobbed by fans as he arrived for today’s practice session ahead of the French GP.
The Brit finished fourth on the podium in FP2 on Friday.
But that was the last thing of the mind of racing fans as they swarmed him for pics before the action gets underway.

    Leclerc on FP2 performance
Charles Leclerc is happy with Ferrari’s performance after FP2 although he’s keeping a close eye on Red Bull.
Leclerc said: “It was a good Friday, but we still have to work on the car a little bit for tomorrow.
“It’s very difficult to understand because it felt like Red Bull is doing something different to us on Friday, but we’re focusing on ourselves.
“The feeling is good, so we just need to put everything together and the pace is in the car.”
    Hamilton hits another milestone
Lewis Hamilton will hit another personal landmark this weekend at the French GP.
The former World Champion’s had a glorious career despite a tumultuous season thus far.
But he’ll participate in his 30th GP this weekend when he steps on the track in France on Sunday.
    Sainz scepticism over pole position
FP2 winner Carlos Sainz doubts he’ll start the French GP in pole position due to the amount of penalties he picked up in Friday’s session.
Sainz said: “It was definitely a positive Friday.
“I didn’t do many laps on the short run on low fuel, but every lap that I did was very competitive, which shows the steps that we’re taking and the direction we’re taking is going in the right direction.
“I’m focusing more in the long run because I’m not going to be in that fight for pole position given the amount of penalties [I have].”
And the Ferrari doubts he’ll be cut some slack by F1 bosses despite only one of his penalties getting recorded.
He added: “We will see. I mean I took 10, so you can expect what’s coming next.”
    Non-vocal Verstappen speaks
Max Verstappen reckons it’s not his job to discuss fan trouble after the chaos amongst racegoers at the Austrian GP a few weeks ago.
He told the press when asked why he hasn’t spoken out on the issues like fellow racers such as Lewis Hamilton: “I don’t think it’s necessarily only me who has to speak out.
“That’s what I did in the press conference, because I think that has a lot more traction than anything else.
“If I really have to speak out about everything in the world, then I [would] be non-stop on social media, so there is a place and time.”
EXCLUSIVE – Hamilton’s diversity inclusion charter still not signed by Williams
Williams says they are waiting to hear back from the Royal Academy of Engineering before signing Lewis Hamilton’s diversity inclusion charter.
Ahead of the French GP Hamilton revealed that only one team had not signed the charter he devised with F1 to help commit to improving diversity within the sport.
He declined to name the team who had not signed up, which we can now reveal to be Williams.
When contacted by SunSport, the Grove-based team say they are still waiting for information before signing it.

However, super sub Leon Bailey’s sensational solo effort clawed Villa back into the game.
And Chambers wriggled free from a corner in the dying minutes to nod the ball past a poorly placed David De Gea.

    That’s all from us!
Thank you once again for tuning into SunSport’s coverage of Manchester United vs Aston Villa!
It certainly was not the result we were expecting, as the underdogs threw up a last minute comeback, which saw the game end 2-2.
Leon Bailey and Jadon Sancho lit up the Aussie stage on the wings with two brilliant goals, so you won’t have been disappointed as a neutral.
Up next we have Spurs, as they face off against Rangers in their pre-season friendly, which is sure to be a cracker!
Have a great day ahead and thank you again for joining us!
    Stick or twist?
    Martial or Ronaldo?
This on paper, looks like a strikingly obvious answer, but it isn’t that simple.
While there is no doubting the excellence of Cristiano Ronaldo, and no doubting his status as one of the greatest players to have ever lived, does he actually improve this United side? Especially if he does not want to be there?
Meanwhile there is Anthony Martial, who seems to have a new lease of life under Ten Hag, and will be keen to get his mojo back.
United also seem to play much better as a unit without CR7 in the lineup, with the play being spread out wide, rather than direct and through the middle.
    Jubilant Jadon.
While Bailey will get most of the plaudits today, it must be said that Jadon Sancho was excellent.
The English winger will be hoping that his fine pre-season form continues into the beginning of the season, as he will be looking to stake a late claim into Gareth Southgate’s World Cup plans.
He has scored 3 goals in pre-season already, and looks to have formed a really formidable partnership with Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Anthony Martial.
Who do they have up next?
That is the end of United’s Australian tour, as up next they will fly back to the UK before playing Atletico Madrid, which will also be covered here on SunSport!
As for Villa, they play Rennes a week from today, as they look to continue their unbeaten pre-season, which looked in doubt today.
United started well today, and will play Atletico Madrid in their next test.Credit: Getty
    Man of the match.
Man of the match today has to go to Leon Bailey.
The Jamaican was simply brilliant, and just edges Jadon Sancho for the SunSport man of the match award today.
His goal was fantastic, and he also set up Chambers’ last minute equaliser from a set piece.
Surely he will be starting Villa’s first game of the season against Bournemouth.
But that is just our vote, who was your man of the match?

    Some beautiful goals.
A game of four goals, and two of them were really sensational.
United’s first goal, courtesy of Jadon Sancho, was excellent.
Shaw played a wonderful one-two on the left hand side, before whipping in an inch perfect ball for Sancho to hit in on the volley.
But the goal of the game has to go to Leon Bailey.
He sprinted down the right-hand side, and dazzled Victor Lindelof with two step overs, before slotting the ball into the bottom left corner with his left boot.
    Aston-ishing.
    A game of two halves.
Wow, what a game that was.
The best way to describe it is as a game of two halves.
United were spectacular in the first half, and it looked as though they would cruise to victory after two really well worked goals, firstly through Jadon Sancho, and then an own goal from Matty Cash.
But the second half was much different, as the introduction of Leon Bailey seemingly shocked Villa into life.
The Jamaican scored the first for Villa and set up the second, with his goal being an absolute stunner.
Overall a draw was definitely a fair result.
Full time. Manchester United 2-2 Aston Villa
    That is unbelievable!
Aston Villa and Calum Chambers have equalised with the last kick of the game! The corner comes in from that man Leon Bailey, and Chambers rises highest to nod it in.
De Gea will be disappointed that he didn’t come and claim that.
90+2. Manchester United 2-2 Aston Villa
Goal! Villa clinch the equaliser! Chambers heads in!
90+2. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa
Bailly picks up a yellow card for rough treatment of Emiliano Buendia, who has really lost his head.
90+1. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa
Villa will feel that they have done enough to get a draw from this one, as they have had the majority of this second half in their favour.
It will be interesting to see who starts the season for Villa…
    90. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa
There will be two minutes of additional time.
    90. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa
Buendia looks a little injured here.
He lets the ball run through his legs to Ashley Young, who’s attempted cross is way off the pace and goes out for a throw in.
    88. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa
United look like they are seeing out the last few minutes in Perth with this young eleven on the pitch.
    86. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa
Chong drives towards goal, and looks to get a shot off, he does, but it is blocked.
Perhaps he should have looked up for Elanga, but he has won a corner anyway.
    84. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa
Ashley Young gets a nice nutmeg on Tahith Chong, showing that he has still got it, but Chong brings him down for a free kick.
    82. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa
Olsen has not been great this half since he replaced Martinez, particularly with his feet.
    80. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa
Kesler-Hayden looks very good down the right hand side for Villa, as he is the latest Villa player to have a shot on goal.
It is United’s turn to go forwards now with Malacia, as he looks to find one of the United youngsters in the box.
    77. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa
Yellow card for Tahith Chong, who made 19 appearances for Birmingham last season.
    77. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa
58,228 is the attendance here in Perth, which is pretty much a sell-out.
    75. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa
Villa drive forward once more, through a great pass by Kesler-Hayden, Bailey should do better there, but he is forgiven in these conditions.
    73. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa
Ashley Young and Hannibal have a heated exchange after a challenge that took the man and the ball.
    71. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa
A host of United changes too…
Garner, Iqbal, Elanga, Wan-Bissaka, Telles, Hannibal, Malacia, Varane, Bailly and Chong come on.
Off come Shaw, Maguire, Lindelof, Dalot, Van de Beek, Fred, Bruno, Rashford, Martial and Sancho.
    66. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa
Villa are making a host of changes here.
Kesler Hayden, Chambers, Young, Archer, Iroegbunam and Sanson are all on.
Cash, Carlos, Digne, Kamara, McGinn and Watkins make way.
    64. Manchester United 2-1 Aston Villa
    Bailey almost levels!
Bailey is absolutely electric down that right hand side.
He charges down the right hand side, and beats David De Gea, but his cutback towards Ollie Watkins is blocked brilliantly by Harry Maguire.

Halfway in FP2 – Leclerc leads
It is a Ferrari double as Sainz is in P2. Verstappen in P3. Alonso P4, Vettel P5 and Stroll in P6.
That’s hugely encouraging for Aston Martin, who have brought some upgrades to this race. Looks like they are working.
    Shall we talk porpoising?
Yes, it is back. The bouncing up and down of the cars that was not so much of an issue in Canada, Silverstone and Austria, is a problem again in France.
Some have got it worse than others. Lando Norris was bouncing all about in FP1 and it looked mighty uncomfortable. Same too for Carlos Sainz.
Less so for Max Verstappen, but it is still occurring. Stiffer planks from Spa and new sensors in place next season to stop it.
    Spin for Schumacher
The Haas man has been earning some praise recently for his performances in the race, less so for that spin though.
He’s managed to keep his car out of trouble and apart from ruining his tyres, remains all in good shape.
    Penalties for Sainz
If you missed it earlier, Sainz will face a 10-place grid drop on Sunday for new components on his Ferrari.
Remember his car caught fire last out in Austria and Ferrari have taken a new control electronics on his power unit, triggering the penalty.
    Early laps for Alpine
Alonso and Ocon currently sit at the top of the timesheets ahead of Gasly.
Two Frenchman in the top three.
    Leclerc topped FP1
The Ferrari man was the quickest in the morning session ahead of Max Verstappen while Carlos Sainz was third.
George Russell was in fourth in his Mercedes but there was no Lewis Hamilton, who was replaced by Nyck De Vries as part of a routine swap to give young drivers some experience – only he’s 27.
    Bonjour from France
Scorching hot today in the south of France with the track temperatures expected to sore into the 60s.
FP2 is about to get underway.
