Nottingham Forest 0-2 Tottenham: Harry Kane scores twice but misses penalty to keep unbeaten start going

HARRY KANE hit his 200th league goal and added another to maintain Tottenham’s redhot unbeaten run.It took just five minutes for the England striker to break the deadlock, with his 186th goal for Spurs to add to the seven for Millwall, five for Leyton Orient and two for Leicester.

It was then hats off to Dean Henderson for denying the lethal Spurs forward from the spot with a peach of a save on 56 minutes.
The Nottingham Forest loanee, who was wearing a cap to block out the sun, has now saved three of the five Prem penalties he has faced, including one from Declan Rice a fortnight ago.
In the dying minutes Kane steered an inch-perfect Richarlison header into the net to stretch Spurs’ unbeaten run to four games.
Kane has now scored against 31 of 32 teams he has faced in the Prem, with Brentford the only team he hasn’t been on target against.

The cool, calm and collected hosts certainly did not look like a newly promoted side against Antonio Conte’s juggernauts.
So it was a real sucker-punch when Kane bobbled home the opener early on.
Dejan Kulusevski pounced onto a loose ball to tee up the Tottenham striker who took a touch and struck into the bottom corner.
It’s no surprise that Spurs fans were quick to point out that Kulusevski has provided more Prem assists, with 10 in 22 games, than Arsenal’s record signing Niclas Pepe, on nine in 80 games.

The visitors hit back with Lewis O’Brien stinging Hugo Lloris’ palms from 20 yards.
And they burst out the traps after the break with Morgan Gibbs-White making a blistering run and crossing to Ryan Yates who headed wide.
But they were left kicking themselves when Steve Cook virtually slam-dunked an Ivan Perisic cross – even though the ball wasn’t going in or reaching Kane.
Craig Pawson instantly pointed to the spot and there was a VAR check for a red card against Cook for denying a goalscoring opportunity.
Cook was let off with a yellow but the Tricky Trees looked doomed as lethal striker Kane stepped up.
First he had to get past Henderson who produced a corker of a save, getting down to his right and palming away the danger.
He celebrated wildly by swinging his lucky cap and revving up the electric home fans.
Neco Williams charged up the other end and nearly got the hosts a reprieve with a deflected shot.
Henderson was bossing it and kept his side in with a string of epic saves to deny Son Heung-min who looks as though he’s missing his mojo.

But Kane stepped up to wrap things up on 86 minutes after being teed up by a floating Richarlison cross after the Brazilian entered the fray for Son moments earlier.
Tempers then flared and there was a yellow card for Brennan Johnson who hacked down Richarlison for showboating with the ball by flicking it into the air to waste time.
    Goodnight from the City Ground
That’s all from us here in Nottingham, and that’s all for another incredible weekend in the Premier League.
Liverpool struck nine, Erling Haaland hit a hat-trick, Arsenal came from behind to win again, Newcastle and Brighton remained unbeaten, and Aleksandar Mitrovic once more proved that he belongs at this level.
And want to know something fun? There’s only two days until we get to do it all over again.
There’s a full card of Premier League fixtures to look forward to in midweek, and they start on Tuesday with Southampton v Chelsea the standout fixture.
Until then, thanks for joining us and goodbye.
    Unbeaten Spurs on the rise
Tottenham are up to third in the Premier League table in what is now their best start to a league season since Harry Redknapp was down to the bare bones at White Hart Lane.
The good news for the Londoners is that they are now only one of five undefeated teams after the weekend’s results; the bad news is they trail rivals Arsenal, who sit on a maximum 12 points.

    Aston Villa 0-1 West Ham

    Wolves 1-1 Newcastle

    Two-hundred up for Kane
There used to be a time when Harry Kane didn’t score in August, but those days seem a long time ago.
Despite missing a second half penalty, the Tottenham striker hit a double to down Nottingham Forest and earn himself Man of the Match.
In doing so, Kane bagged the 200th (and 201st) league goals of his career with 187 of these coming for Spurs in the Premier League.
The England captain also bagged seven for Millwall in Championship, five for Leyton Orient in League One, and two for Leicester in the second tier.

    Kane pays tribute to Richarlison
Harry Kane was Tottenham’s two-goal hero, but afterwards the England captain was quick to praise the involvement of Richarlison in ensuring victory.
For the second away game in a row, the Brazilian made an impact from the bench, and played a part in Kane striking late on.
If you want to be a top team, you have to compete for every position and that’s what we have created with the squad that we have now. Whenever Richy has had the opportunity to play and whenever he’s trained, he’s done really well, and he’s biting at the bit.Harry KaneSky Sports

    Stats from the City Ground
The difference in attacking quality is highlighted in the statistics that show Nottingham Forest had just the one attempt on target – and 16 off it.

    Full time – Nott’m Forest 0-2 Tottenham
Craig Pawson’s blows for full time, and a thoroughly enjoyable encounter draws to a close.
The scoreline reflects a straightforward victory for Tottenham, but this was anything but.
Nottingham Forest were determined, eager and inventive – right up until the final third of the pitch.
In the end, the home side just didn’t have the striking quality close to that of the visitors, who earned victory through Harry Kane’s double.
The Spurs striker even had time to miss a penalty as Dean Henderson again showed his expertise in saving from the spot.
However, it’s Tottenham’s best start to a season since 2013, and Antonio Conte’s men go marching on.

    Nott’m Forest 0-2 Tottenham
90+7. Worrall blasts over after a goalmouth scramble, and encapsulates Forest’s endeavour but – ultimately – their lack of quality in front of goal.
    Nott’m Forest 0-2 Tottenham
90+5. We’re now deep into eight minutes of stoppage time, and Forest are still going.
Unfortunately, they still haven’t managed to register more than the one attempt on target, and that was O’Brien’s early tame effort from distance.
    Nott’m Forest 0-2 Tottenham
90+3. Spence could have – should have – marked his return to the City Ground with a first Premier League goal.
The right wing-back makes an awful mess of following up after Richarlison’s effort had been parried by Henderson.
    Nott’m Forest 0-2 Tottenham – Tottenham substitution
90+1. Djed Spence comes on for Tottenham, and gets a rapturous reception from the home fans.
    He replaces Rodrigo Bentancur.
    Nott’m Forest 0-2 Tottenham – Nott’m Forest substitution
    90. Sam Surridge comes on for Nottingham Forest, and gets a lukewarm reception from the home fans.
    He replaces Brennan Johnson.
    Nott’m Forest 0-2 Tottenham
    89. He hasn’t been there long, he hasn’t played too much, but already Richarlison has warmed himself to the Tottenham fans.
Could the Brazilian do the unexpected and usurp Son Heung-min from Spurs’ front three?
    Nott’m Forest 0-2 Tottenham
    87. In stark contrast to how this afternoon begun, it’s the Tottenham fans making all the noise at the City Ground.
Nott’m Forest 0-2 Tottenham – Johnson yellow card
    85. Ouch! This is one of the most clearcut bookings you’re likely to see as Brennan Johnson objects to Richarlison’s showboating on the far touchline.
Tottenham’s Brazilian takes opportunity of time and space to demonstrate his keepy-up abilities, and it drives the Forest forward into a rage.
Johnson steams into the forward, and sends him flying into the air.

Nott’m Forest 0-2 Tottenham – Kouyate yellow card
    83. Another one in the book as the Forest substitute Cheikhou Koyate catches Harry Kane on the ankle with a bad tackle.
    Nott’m Forest 0-2 Tottenham
    81. That’s the ball game!
Harry Kane get his second of the game, and it’s all down to the resilience of Richarlison.
The England striker should have been celebrating seconds earlier after Ryan Sessegnon broke down the left, but the substitute’s centre was cut out brilliantly by Scott McKenna.
However, Richarlison refused to give up, and won the ball back while a number of Forest players switched off.
One outside of the foot delivery later, and Kane was all alone in the six-yard box to head home.

    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    80. Better from Forest inside the 18-yard box, and it’s no surprise that it comes from Dennis.
The Nigerian runs at Emerson and Bentancur in the area before firing wide of the far post.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    79. After Johnson miscues at one end, Kulusevski goes on the rampage down the right.
Skipping away from Toffolo, he sends a low one to the near post for Richarlison, who is unable to divert it goalwards.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    77. Richarlison is already being booed by the home fans which could be a personal best.
The Spurs sub has a late reaction to a coming together with Toffolo, but goes down as if being attacked with a cricket bat.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham – Nott’m Forest substitutions
    75. Steve Cooper responds to Tottenham’s double substitution with a triple change of his own.
The Forest head coach throws on new signings (obviously) Remo Freuler, Cheikhou Kouyate and Taiwo Awoniyi for Lewis O’Brien, Steve Cook and Ryan Yates.
The home side are going with four at the back for the final exchanges.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham – Tottenham substitutions
    73. Who’s the last person you want to see coming on when all three of your centre-backs are on yellow cards? It has to be wind-up extraordinaire Richarlison.
The Brazilian, along with Ryan Sessegnon, are on for Spurs; off go Son Heung-min and Ivan Perisic.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham – O’Brien yellow card
    72. Lewis O’Brien enters Craig Pawson’s book for the all-too-familiar crime of pulling back Harry Kane by the shirt.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    70. Henderson claims a Tottenham corner at one end, Lloris does the same with a low delivery at the other.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham – Nott’m Forest substitution
    69. A first change of the game.
Emmanuel Dennis is on for his Forest debut, replacing Jesse Lingard.
Will the former Watford star be the out-and-out striker the home side have been crying out for?

*Odds courtesy of Betfair are correct at time of publication
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    35. Ten minutes until half-time, and Forest are desperately pushing for an equaliser.
Most of the action is taking place in the Tottenham defensive third, but the visitors still look so dangerous when they get the chance to break at pace.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    34. Another effort at goal from the home side, another lacking in accuracy and composure.
It’s Neco Williams, who slices wide of the near post with options available.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    33. A half-chance for Johnson, who gets his head on a cross from the left.
However, the ball was travelling behind the forward, and it took a great effort to twist and connect.
Unsurprisingly, it drops wide of the post.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    31. Lightning break!
Johnson is involved again, and helps in sending Gibbs-White into space on the right.
The attacking midfielder sends in a low centre early, prompting Lloris to rush off his line and push away from danger.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    30. Spurs alleviate the pressure by getting numbers forward.
It hasn’t happened too much, but here Emerson goes on the overlap to the byline.
He needn’t have bothered, mind you. The cross into the box is dreadful, and easily cut out.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    28. The Tottenham defence is getting push further and further back, but they are still determined to play it around neatly when under pressure.
In fairness, they haven’t done too much wrong so far.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    26. The Williams-Johnson combination on the right continues to thrive, and is again proving that it could be a real asset to Forest this season.
The energetic pair just need to demonstrate more composure when beyond their opponents.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    24. Kane sparks another Tottenham counter-attack with a raking ball through for Son, who is denied the chance to run at Cook when he uses his hand to control.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    23. Johnson continues to terrorise the Tottenham defence, be it through the centre or when he pulls out wide to the right.
Forest just need a striker on the end of his deliveries into the box. Could that man be Emmanuel Dennis?
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    22. Midway through the first half, and the home side have had 64% of the possession and registered six attempts on goal to Tottenham’s four.
In other words, they are having a right good go.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    20. This time O’Brien takes aim from distance, and sees his shot dealt with unconvincingly by Lloris’ push out – a save that didn’t fall too far from the lurking Worrall.
Lingard regains possession, and curls a cross too the far post that is headed back cooly – perhaps too cooly – to his goalkeeper by Perisic.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    18. Forest huff and puff in attack as shots from Lingard and Yates are blocked at close quarters.
In the Championship, the home side would expect to keep possession and rebuild, but here Spurs break at pace.
Son drives forward with a three-on-three opportunity before playing Kane in on the left.
The Tottenham goalscorer cuts back inside on the edge of the area, and curls an effort with his right foot two yards wide of the far post.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    16. Tottenham are beginning to gain more of a foothold in this contest – and look a threat every time they attack.
Perisic gets the better of Williams to float over a lovely cross that requires Cook to come to Forest’s rescue.
But the hosts don’t fully clear, and when the ball falls to Son for a second opportunity, he whips a curler just over the crossbar from 20 yards.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    13. The Kulusevski-Kane combination almost bears fruit again.
The Swede slips his striker in with a through ball, and only an excellent last-ditch tackle denies the Spurs man from getting another shot away.
It would have counted too. Kane was played onside by a dozing Mckenna on the far side.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    12. Forest push forward once more.
Johnson and Gibbs-White try to link up with an intricate one-two inside the box, and it’s only the alert tracking from Hojbjerg that stops the former from retrieving the ball before Lloris.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    11. Johnson again on the charge, and this time he wins a corner for the home side when his shot flicks off a defender.
Gibbs-White goes over to the left to deliver, but puts too much on his cross and it curls out of play.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    9. Johnson has looked dangerous in what has been an eventful opening ten minutes.
The young Forest forward gets beyond Perisic and Davies to squeeze a dangerous low delivery across the face of goal.
There’s nobody there to meet it.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    7. Disappointed but undeterred, the Forest fans – and their players – go again.
    Nott’m Forest 0-1 Tottenham
    5. The harsh reality of the Premier League!
Against the run of play, and with their first attack, Tottenham take the lead.
Dejan Kulusevski breaks forward from midfield, feeds Harry Kane on the right, and the striker does the rest.
It’s not the best connection of his stellar career, but Kane’s scuffed shot catches Dean Henderson unsighted by Scott McKenna and rolls into the net.

    Nott’m Forest 0-0 Tottenham
    3. The early intent from Forest, roared on by the home support, continues.
Gibbs-White has looked lively in the opening exchanges, and fancies his chances with a shot from 25 yards.
Leaning back, it soars well over the crossbar.
    Nott’m Forest 0-0 Tottenham
    2. The hosts test Lloris in the Tottenham goal with a couple of early crosses whipped into the penalty area, one from Lingard on the left, the other from Williams on the right.
The French stopper opts to punch clear the first before comfortably claiming the second.
    Kick-off – Nott’m Forest v Tottenham
    1. The Forest players come together in a huddle, and then get this contest underway on Craig Pawson’s whistle.
And it takes Lingard just 12 seconds to draw the referee’s second, drawing a foul from Emerson.
    Here come the two teams…
…and here comes the roar from the Trent End of the City Ground.
The sides, led by captains Joe Worrall and Hugo Lloris, take their place on the pitch amid a cauldron of noise.
‘Forest are back,’ chant the home fans. Now it’s time to see if they’re here to stay.
    The countdown to kick-off
The players have been put through their paces, and are now back in the dressing rooms for some final words of advice, instruction and encouragement.
    The action is up next.

    Verstappen driver of the day
Perhaps the easiest choice of the season since… well the last race.

    Plenty of points for Alpine
Despite starting third on the grid, Alpine will surely be happy with finishing P5 and P7 this afternoon.
Even more so when considering Ocon began the race at the rear following an grid penalty.
    Questions for Ferrari
Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz will be sat there wondering again why they were so far away from the Red Bulls today.
It’s another poor weekend for them.

Certainly not how the Mercedes man wanted his afternoon to go

    Verstappen: “We want more”

    Good performance from Russell
The Mercedes man was threatening taking the final podium place, but fourth is still a great result for the Englishman.
    Statement drive from Verstappen
Wow. From 14th on the grid to one of the more dominant wins of the season.
Leclerc also failed to take the fastest lap off him on the last race of the season.

    VERSTAPPEN WINS!
MAX VERSTAPPEN WINS THE BELGIAN GRAND PRIX!
    Oh no Ferrari
Leclerc’s been overtaken by Alonso on the second last lap, with him now down in 6th.
They do love to make things difficult for themselves.
    Leclerc pits late
Clearly pushing for a fastest lap point, with Alonso pushing to take 5th away from him.
    Crucial Russell error
The Mercedes man went wide a few laps ago, which has probably left him too much to do with two laps to go.
Tsunoda overtakes Zhou to move into 13th.
    Verstappen coasting home
17.1 seconds is the lead for the man who started 14th today.
    He’s unmatched right about now.
    Four laps to go
Sainz has reacted well to the pressure of Russell, now extending his lead on fourth.
    Norris struggling

Russell taking chunks out of Sainz’s times
Russell is driving brilliantly today, as he sits about 2.3 seconds behind Sainz for the final podium place.
    Vintage Vettel
A lovely little exchange in the midfield, with Vettel overtaking Gasly before Ocon speeds past them both in a thrilling battle.
    Scary dominance from Red Bull
Verstappen leads his teammate Perez by over 13 seconds, who in himself leads third by 9.4.
    Staggering stuff.
    Ferrari in trouble
Russell is again gaining on Sainz, who has reiterated to his engineers that he’s doing everything he can.
    Hamilton: “It was my fault”
A disconsolate Lewis Hamilton told Sky Sports:
“Looking back at the footage, he was in blind spot and I just didn’t see it.
    “It was my fault.”

Aston Villa 0 West Ham 1: Steven Gerrard’s side booed off as Hammers get first win and goal of season as Fornals nets

PABLO FORNALS finally provided lift-off for West Ham’s Premier League season – after a countdown which lasted an agonising 344 minutes! It wasn’t the greatest goal the little Spaniard has scored for the Hammers and it’s unlikely to be the best he will bag this season – but it was West Ham’s first goal of the season after drawing a blank in their first three games.

Pressure is mounting on Steven Gerrard as his side were booed off at full-timeCredit: Reuters
Any sore losers in the Aston Villa camp will point out it arrived with the help of a massively fortuitous deflection off Ezri Konsa’s lunging leg, which sent the ball spinning over the helpless Emi Martinez as it looped under his bar.
But none of that mattered to Fornals and nine of his mates as they sprinted off to celebrate wildly in front of their joyous fans, with only Lukasz Fabianski remaining in his own half.
Now their season can finally begin for real!
As for Villa, Steven Gerrard’s side remain on the starting grid waiting for something … anything to inspire them.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
They may have picked up three points in their last home game against Everton but it’s been small consolation to their fans who booed them off at the end and are fed up with excuses.
This had such a familiar feeling as did their slayer Fornals, who had scored in both games against them last season.
Davie Moyes switched to a back four at half-time to get more out of his team but Gerrard increasingly looks like a man bereft of ideas.
Villa had lost their last four league games against West Ham on the spin and had only beaten them once in their last dozen games – seven years ago.

So the last thing Gerrard needed, hours before kick-off, was to lose one half of his defensive duo when England international Tyrone Mings dropped out of his squad due to illness.
Uncertainty at the back has been a feature of Villa’s erratic start to the season and it’s not difficult to work out why.
Incredibly, this was Gerrard’s fifth different centre-half pairing in five games this season as he continued to wrestle with his options at the back.
Sevilla’s experienced Brazilian Diego Carlos was recruited for £26million but tore his Achilles and will be out for around six months, which pretty much summed up his recent luck.
Unfortunately for Gerrard the trend continued as he thought his side had got off to a flyer here, only to see a brilliantly choreographed corner routine turn to dust.
Ollie Watkins and the recalled Philippe Coutinho had started brightly up front and Watkins came close after he dipped a shoulder to cut inside Jan Kehrer and smashed in a shot which flew off Kurt Zouma for a corner.
Lucas Digne’s delivery had plenty of pace and whip and Coutinho stole in at the near post to crash a point-blank header off the upright.
The ball rebounded across the face of goal where Ezri Konsa reacted first to stab it home from a yard out.
But eagle-eyed linesman Timothy Wood raised his flag in an instant after spotting something was amiss.
And VAR confirmed his theory that Digne’s delivery had indeed strayed a fraction beyond the touchline before curling back in to find Coutinho’s forehead.
If every official’s eyesight was that good there would never have been any need for VAR!
Villa continued to knock on the door and Coutinho dug out another brilliant cross but Watkins’ back-post header looped into Fabianski’s waiting gloves.
Moyes had handed a Hammers debut to Emerson, his new signing from Chelsea, and Gianluca Scamacca was rewarded for his Europa Conference heroics with a first Premier League start.
But the £30million Italian international striker’s biggest contribution in a lopsided first half was to desperately head a Douglas Luiz delivery away for another corner as Villa tried to prise a way through.
Coutinho fizzed in a shot which dipped in front of Fabianski but the Polish keeper handled it expertly before Villa skipper John McGinn blazed wildly over on the stroke of half-time.
Moyes hadn’t been helped when Ben Johnson was forced off with a thigh injury and was replaced by Vladimir Coufal.
But his hopes of getting Jarred Bowen and Fornals on the front foot had backfired badly and his team had sunk deeper and deeper.
Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek were operating as midfield minders in front of a back five and it was clear the Hammers wouldn’t open their Premier League account for the season this way.
Moyes knew he had work to do and it was a case of last-in, first-out for Emerson who was replaced by Said Benrahma at the break as the Hammers boss switched to a back-four.
Suddenly it was Villa’s makeshift defence which was on the back foot as Bowen, Benrahma and Fornals surged forward to support Scamacca.
John McGinn lost his footing and almost the opening goal too when Fornals pounced on his misfortune to send Bowen away.
The England forward chopped inside Calum Chambers but was denied by a sensational sliding tackle as Digne saved the day.
Scamacca’s last action, before being replaced by Michail Antonio, was a low shot which Martinez saved with ease.

Villa’s injury curse struck again when Coutinho tweaked his left hamstring and Gerrard tried to inject some life in his team sending on Emi Buendia and Jacob Ramsey, with Leon Bailey arriving later.
But it was to be Fornals who broke the deadlock … and the Hammers’ Prem goal jinx.

Wolves 1 Newcastle 1: Allan Saint-Maximin scores stunning last-gasp volley to keep up Toon’s unbeaten record

ALLAN SAINT-MAXIMIN hit a dramatic volley in the last minute of normal time to rescue a point for Newcastle at Molineux. It looked like the Magpies were heading for their first defeat of the season as they fell flat after Ruben Neves’ own spectacular long-range opener in the 38th minute.

But there is magic in the feet of Saint-Maximin as he sent the travelling Toon Army wild with delight.
Fingers will point at sub Hwang Hee Chan, who had only been on the pitch five minutes when he attempted a volleyed clearance from the byline.
It was miscued and the ball fell from the sky to Saint-Maximin just outside the area and he could not have caught it sweeter on the volley giving Jose Sa no chance.
It was his first goal since January 15th and after running to the bench in celebration he fell to his knees and pointed to the sky.

In eight minutes of injury time, Newcastle almost snatched it.
Saint Maxim sprinted into the area and had a shot well saved.
Then from a corner sub Elliot Anderson and Neves went for the same ball and a combination of the two sent the ball onto the bar.
With the clock now ticking towards ten added minutes, Newcastle were awarded a free kick just outside the area as Molineux held its breath.

Schar took it low and the ball flew past the post as the whistle went.
Still, a win and three draws marks their best start to a season since 2011.
Indeed for Newcastle, this felt like a win having fallen a bit flat following their thrilling 3-3 draw with Champions Manchester City the previous week.
They were deprived of striker Callum Wilson and the inspirational Bruno Guimaraes due to injury.
New record buy Alexander Isak was stuck in the stands because a work permit could not be sorted out in time following his £58million move from Real Sociedad.
Chris Wood is simply not good enough to fill the gap up front.
Still, they started well enough and will have felt hard done by to go in at the break a goal down.
Wearing their Saudi colours of green and white, they had a chance after only four minutes.
Joe Linton pushed a ball through for Wood who took it to one side of the goalkeeper and shot from a tight angle but Sa dived to his right and blocked the effort.
Wolves quickly responded when Ruben Neves pinged a brilliant ball out to the right on the volley to Goncalo Guedes.
Ruben Neves fired Wolves into the lead in the first halfCredit: PA
His cross into the box found Pedro Neto outpacing Sven Botman, but his flick past the advancing Nick Pope had too much on it and landed on the roof of the net.
Back at the other end and Joe Willock missed a sitter.
Kieran Trippier’s long throw into the box bounced around before Wood’s shot deflected to Willock who from four yards out unmarked poked his shot wide of the near post.
    The chances kept coming.
Nathan Collins lost the ball on the edge of his box, Saint-Maximin was on it squared for Wood to tee up Sean Longstaff but his effort was deflected wide.
Saint-Maximin threw his arms up in despair as if to ask when this pressure was going to result in a goal.
They were made to pay as Wolves went ahead through a Neves special.
Neto fired the ball across the Newcastle box to Goncalo Guedes on the left and he pulled it back to an unmarked Neves steaming in.
From 22 yards out he released a thunderous drive that Nick Pope could not reach at full stretch.
Of the 25 goals, Neves has scored for Wolves 16 of them have been from outside the area.
Newcastle are now seventh in the Premier League tableCredit: PA
It was Wolves’ first goal in 302 minutes of Premier League football since Daniel Podence’s sixth-minute opener on day one against Leeds.
The visitors went in search of the equaliser from the start of the second half.
Indeed the Geordie fans on the far side thought they had grabbed it when Almiron’s cross deflected off Collins and rippled the netting.
It was the side netting however and then when Schar got forward and had a go his shot was deflected wide.
Howe made changes but nothing was working.
Wolves were even celebrating a second on 81 minutes when Neto charged away and crossed low to the far post for Jimenez to slot away.
But Neto had barged into Fraser in winning the ball and referee Peter Bankes was asked by VAR Lee Mason to have another look at it and the goal was chalked off.

It was the let-off Newcastle needed. They don’t give in.
Long after the final whistle, it was those in black and white still singing as they left Molineux.

    Fight farce
Mexican Pineda is a professional in the boxing ranks with two wins from seven bouts to his name.
But he looked skinny, weak and spent his whole night complaining.

The Mexican boxer also complained he was being hit in the back of the head on multiple occasions.

    Day one
Deji also pays tribute to a childhood friend Shane, who helped him in his training camp and with his meal prep.

    Best ring walk song.
Well, Slim absolutely blew this one out of the water.
It turns out Eminem isn’t the only Slim who knows his tunes, as the USA fighter rocked out to A Million Miles by Vanessa Carlton.
As soon as the crowd heard that little piano intro, they were excited to see what Slim had to bring to the stage.
It got even better when we realised it was a mashup with September, by Earth, Wind and Fire.
He lived up to his soundtrack with his performance too, as he got the knockout of the night against Faze Temper.
“Making my way downtown, walking fast, faces pass and I’m homebound…”
    KSI is hungry.
The British boxer, rapper, YouTuber, and entrepreneur claimed that his boxing career was far from over tonight.
He named a list of potential next fights, and stated that we will see him fight again in January, but not against Jake Paul, who many were expecting.
“Slim looks good. I want a piece of that. Austin vs Gib, I want the winner of that. Andrew Tate, I want a piece of that. Tommy Fury, I want a piece of that.”KSIVia DAZN
    Fight farce
Mexican Pineda is a professional in the boxing ranks with two wins from seven bouts to his name.
But he looked skinny, weak and spent his whole night complaining.
In truth, the Mexican would have been better off paired up against KSI’s first opponent Swarmz, who he also embarrassed.
Pineda, 23, was scared to throw a punch and seemed to hit the deck every time KSI landed.
The Mexican boxer also complained he was being hit in the back of the head on multiple occasions.
    Fight of the night.
There were some brilliant fights on tonight, in what was an evening packed full of big punches, great music and tough brawls.
Salt Papi knocked out Andy Warski within 30 seconds, which lead to Logan Paul recommending that the TikTok superstar fights his brother Jake for his next test.
King Kenny vs Sensei was labelled a farce by many fans, as Sensei appeared to dominate the fight, before King Kenny was awarded the win via the judges decision.
Deen the Great also put on a show in the second fight of the night, as he showed excellent boxing ability before face-planting a back flip in celebration.
But ultimately, the fight of the night has to go to Deji vs Fousey.
Deji went into the fight as a bit of an underdog, after the crowd saw how Fousey had shedded a lot of body fat in preparation for the big night.
But with the crowd behind him, we saw a different side to Deji, one that was cool, calm and collected, with a deadly left hand that dominated Fousey throughout the fight.
It was great to see Deji finally get a win, and therefore that, was the fight of the night.

    Knockout of the night.
Knockout of the night from SunSport has to go to Slim, for the clean right-handed knockout on Faze Temper.
There were some other greats in there, such as Deji on Fousey, but this right hook was something really special.

    KSI announces next fight date.
Well, after he gave a list of potential next fights, including Andrew Tate and Tommy Fury, KSI also announced that his next fight will be in January.
He explained his reasoning for not calling out Jake Paul just yet too, stating that there are many fights that need to happen before that one does.
The Brit clearly feels that the Jake Paul fight will happen, but, it is about timing for him.
    KSI embraces his inner AJ
He came out dressed in all white, and made his opponent wait just like AJ often does.
Not only that, but he went on to use AJ’s quote in his post match interview…
Man the first time was so nice, I HAD to do it twice”KSIvia DAZN
    KSI calls out FIVE fighters.
KSI just called out Andrew Tate, the winner of Gib vs McBroom, Slim and Tommy Fury.
Which would you like to see most?

KSI goes two wins from two.
And the Olatunji family go three from three, as KSI beat Swarmz and Pineda BOTH by knockout, and Deji beat Fousey by knockout too.
Ladies and Gentlemen, ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?KSIvia DAZN
    Round three.
    BANG.
Down Pineda goes again, and he is shaking his head, kneeling on the floor.
A good uppercut from KSI sees Pineda down again, and THAT IS IT.
    KSI WINS AGAIN.
    Round three.
How has Pineda made it to the third round here?
He has been on the floor FIVE times.
    Somehow, he is here.
Total domination from KSI, who is going to go for the knockout for sure.
    Round two.
KSI knocks Pineda down once more, but the Mexican is back up again.
It looks like JJ wants the highlight moment, and Pineda wants to get out of here.
    Pineda is down AGAIN.
KSI is doing PUSHUPS in the corner of the ring.
    Eubank JR enjoyed that one.
    Round two.
KSI is on another level here to Pineda, the Mexican can’t even really get a shot back at the Brit here.
Pineda looks scared in the ring out there.
    Round one.
“KSI. KSI. KSI.” Rings out around the O2 Arena.
KSI comes out all guns blazing, and knocks down Pineda early.
Pineda is claiming that KSI is hitting him in the back of the head.
Pineda looks like he has given up.
This is embarrassing for Pineda, he is complaining more than he is fighting.
Michael Buffer had a harder job in pronouncing Pineda’s name, than KSI had fighting Pineda”True GeordieVia DAZN
    Here comes KSI, again…
For the second time tonight, looking as cool as ever, here comes KSI.
He is making his opponent wait here, a tactic we have seen from Anthony Joshua in the past.
He walks out to ‘Not Over Yet’, and has UK rap superstar Headie One rapping his verse in the ring.
    Luis Pineda comes out.
He comes out with a Lucha libre mask on, and he is very tall, that is for sure.
The legendary Canelo Alvarez will testament to just how brilliant Mexican fighters can be.
    The main event is here!
    Here we go.
    KSI against Luis Alcaraz Pineda.
    Michael Buffer is back.
    LET’S GET READY TO RUMBLE.
    He is THAT GUY.
    Isn’t he?
Wow, so confident from the man who has conquered almost all avenues in his life.
KSI spoke before the main event vs Pineda, as he expressed how proud he was of his brother, but also how great Slim was in the co-main event.
Oh, and he had this to say on the main event:
It’s time to end this, with another KO baby, Let’s go!”KSIBefore the main event
Logan Paul hypes up the big one.
Logan Paul did an interview with Ade Oladipo, and was questioned about his brothers potential fight with KSI who is up next.
We all know it’s inevitable”Logan PaulOn KSI vs Jake Paul
    The big one up next!
We have the main event up next.
    It is KSI vs Pineda!
Can the Olatunji brothers make it 3/3 wins on the night?
This one will no doubt be a tougher test for JJ than Swarmz was, but can he pull it off?
Wow! Slim puts Temper down and out!
Slim backed up everything he said in the pre-amble to this fight.
There was a HUGE right hand from the hit man, who watched Temper bounce off the canvas.
    What a fight that was!
    Round two.
Slim gets a big hit on Temper, and sticks his tongue out with eyes wide open.
Really good from Slim so far.
Big right hand, and the best punch of the night from Slim!
SLIM THE HIT MAN WINS BY KNOCKOUT.
    Round one.
Big right hand from Slim early in the first round.
And it is getting wild with some big wide punches from both of these fighters.
There is blood on the face of Faze Temper already.
The first round comes to a close, and that absolutely flew by.
    Action packed. This is competitive.
Faze Temper comes out the oppposite.
It is very serious from Faze Temper.
No Vanessa Carlton round here from the Brazilian.
    Brilliant from Slim.
His ring walk song, is A Thousand Miles my Vanessa Carlton.
    Sing it with us…
“MAKING MY WAY DOWNTOWN, WALKING FAST, FACES PASS AND I’M HOMEBOUND”
This is certainly confident from Slim, and he is putting on quite a show.

    Fulham looking to change perceptions
The Cottagers have been unable to secure back-to-back Premier League seasons since 2014, dropping straight back into the Championship following their last two promotions.
Silva’s team will be more than aware of the challenge ahead in North London this evening.
After taking the game to Liverpool on the opening day of the season, they will be confident in their ability of causing Arsenal problems today.
Fulham have Arsenal in their sights
Away games like this will not be in the plans of ‘must win’ games for Fulham this season.
In some respects, these fixtures are a ‘free hit’ to go out and express yourself.
This can make it a much harder game for Arsenal who will be expecting to pick up all three points at The Emirates this evening.

    Silva lining for Cottagers’ start
Having become somewhat of a yo-yo club when it comes to Premier League status, Fulham have made a solid start to the campaign.
Opening their account with draws against Liverpool and Wolves, Marco Silva’s side then beat Brentford at Craven Cottage 3-2 last weekend.
Aleksandar Mitrovic scored the winning goal in the 90th minute for the West London outfit.
    Gunners form on fire
Arsenal have beaten Crystal Palace, Leicester and Bournemouth so far this season and will be looking to make Fulham their fourth scalp.
Mikel Arteta’s side have showed some promising signs that they are far more capable of securing a top four spot this time out.
The Gunners were held to a 1-1 draw the last time the two teams met at The Emirates in April 2021, but the Cottagers have not beaten their London rivals in the league since January 2012.
    Cottagers to pose difficult challenge
The Arsenal manager was asked what he expects this evening:
A really tough match. They’ve been on an incredible run – last year in the Championship they did extremely well, and they haven’t lost a game yet in the Premier League and they’ve played against three very difficult opponents, so credit to them. I think it will be a difficult game.Mikel ArtetaArsenal
    Gunners focussed after last season
Having missed out on fourth place last campaign by a meagre two points, Arsenal have made a sensational start to the season.
Arteta’s team won 22 games last season but suffered 13 defeats which ultimately cost them their place in this season’s Champions League.
This term they seem focussed on not making the same mistakes again.
    Welcome to Arsenal vs Fulham
Mikel Arteta will be looking for his Arsenal team to make it four wins from four games in their start to the 2022/23 Premier League campaign as they welcome Marco Silva’s newly-promoted Fulham at The Emirates this evening.
The Gunners sit top of the table with a 100% record while visitors Fulham, who have made an unbeaten start to the season, sit in seventh place after a win and two draws.
Arsenal again will be without the services of Reiss Nelson due to a thigh problem, but The Gunners are otherwise in decent shape.
Mikel Arteta is expected to name the same starting XI for a fourth game in succession, meaning that Ben White should continue at right-back.
Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and Gabriel Martinelli will support Gabriel Jesus in the final third of the pitch, with Thomas Partey and Granit Xhaka playing the holding roles in midfield.
As for Fulham, Harry Wilson and Manor Solomon will again be unavailable while Neeskens Kebano remains a doubt due to a groin issue.
Mitrovic will again lead the line with support from Andreas Pereira, Bobby Decordova-Reid and Joao Palhinha controlling the centre of the park.
