Nwaneri was not even born when the Emirates Stadium was opened.

Jesus discusses celebration and the performance
Gabriel Jesus peeled away from his man to nod home Xhaka’s cross, doubling his side’s lead.
Here’s what he had to say on the performance and his teammate:
From the start we showed what we want to do in the game, create chances and score. That is what I believe we did.
He [Xhaka] found me for the goal and I am so happy to play with him, he is an intelligent and quality player.Gabriel Jesus, Arsenal striker
When asked about his dancing celebration, he said:
“The celebration was for my guy Vinicius Jr, it needs to stop and it was for him.”
The Real Madrid player made the headlines after comments were made on Spanish television, mocking his dancing with comments which carried racist connotations.
Fellow Brazilian Gabriel Jesus was quick to show his support, tweeting ‘Dance, Vini!’

    Vieira’s screamer
Fabio Vieira sealed his debut with an absolute belter this afternoon.
    Here it is:

FULL TIME – Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
The referee blows his whistle and Arsenal can celebrate. Their lead at the top of the Premier League table is restored in style.
Saliba, Jesus and Vieira all contributed to a dominant win. None of whom were here last season.
In truth, they didn’t have to work too hard for it, which will please Arteta even more.
Brentford lacked everything that they’ve been good at so far this season. A flat performance, deservedly punished. They will remain in ninth, for now.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
90+3, Jesus is down with cramp, kindly helped by the Brentford players. He wins the player of the match award.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
90+1, There is to be four added minutes here. Time for Nwaneri to set another record?
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
90, Here goes then! 15-year-old Nwaneri is on for Vieira.
New signing Marquinhos is also on for Saka.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
89, Nwaneri is warming up on the bench and looks set to make Premier League history as the youngest ever player.
Jesus is late on his man and picks up a booking.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
87, Jesus is tenacious, losing the ball before winning it back again and charging into the box. He bends a low effort towards the far corner which Raya parries.
Mee is there to clear ahead of Nketiah who would have had a tap in.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
86, White’s number is up. Tomiyasu is on to replace him for the final few minutes.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
82, Ramsdale takes his time with a free-kick, irritating Jansson who feels the Arsenal man is time-wasting.
A bit of gamesmanship is something we’ve come to expect from the 24-year-old.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
80, Damsgaard curls in the free-kick and Toney is bundled to the floor, forcing David Coote to point to the spot. Not for long though, the offside flag was raised against the Brentford man.
A quick review confirms the inevitable.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
78, Henry stands one up, inviting a Brentford player to attack, but Gabriel watches it well, glancing it away from the on-running Wissa.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
77, Here come the Arsenal changes then.
The returning Partey makes way for Lokonga.
Martinelli is also off for Nketiah’s 100th Arsenal appearance. His pace won’t be what the Brentford defence want to see at this stage.

    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
75, Wissa is on for the hosts. No player has got more goals off the bench this season. Mbeumo makes way.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
74, Partey attempts to tease one through for Saka but it’s just ahead of the winger.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
73, Mbeumo and Toney combine but Mbeumo’s touch is too heavy, and rolls on through to Ramsdale. He will be desperate for a clean sheet.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
70, The whole of the stadium are on their feet applauding the Queen.
During that time, Brentford played their best football of the match.
Damsgaard steals in behind Gabriel and hooks one on target, forcing Ramsdale into a stop. That’s there first shot on target in over an hour.

    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
68, Jensen, who took a Martinelli challenge to the knee, hobbles off for Baptiste.
Arsenal can afford a quick drink and a catch-up with the boss.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
66, Saka so close to a fourth!
The visitors attack at pace, White teeing up Saka to hit one first time. He bends it towards the corner and Raya does well to push it wide.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
64, Thomas Frank makes a double change.
Not quite the return to the Emirates Dasilva had hoped for. He and Janelt are withdrawn.
    Onyeka and Damsgaard are on.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
62, Arsenal are winning all the battles.
Gabriel this time, jumps highest and wins the free-kick to relieve the pressure deep in his own half.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
61, Jensen bears down the left and whips in a dangerous ball. Xhaka does brilliantly to slide in and intercept.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
60, Toney has pulled up on the half-way line. That would be devastating news for him, Brentford and England.
    Brentford 0-3 Arsenal
58, Xhaka goes into the book after blocking Raya finding someone on the counter.
I think his defenders had the situation covered, but the Swiss didn’t fancy the risk.

Canelo vs Golovkin 3 LIVE RESULTS: Alvarez BEATS GGG on points to settle epic rivalry after 12 rounds – latest updates

CANELO ALVAREZ has BEATEN Gennady Golovkin in their trilogy clash in Las Vegas to settle their five-year rivalry. The Mexican outpointed his fierce foe 116-112, 115-113, 115-113 to win the third fight, having won the second four years ago and drawn the first in 2017.
Golovkin may now look to retire from the sport while Alvarez is likely to chase a rematch with Dmitry Bivol, who he lost to earlier this year.
Canelo has revealed he needs to have surgery on his left hand, due to an injury that has been bothering him in the build-up to his bout against GGG.

Five fights for Golovkin after Canelo loss
Gennady Golovkin has insisted he will not retire after his loss to Canelo Alvarez.
But who could he face next? SunSport has identified five possible opponents.
    They are as follows:

    Jermall Charlo
    Chris Eubank Jr
    Janibek Alimkhanuly
    Billy Joe Saunders
    Jaime Munguia

Five fights for Canelo after Golovkin win
Canelo Alvarez can finally move on from his rivalry with Gennady Golovkin after almost half a decade.
The pair first drew in 2017 before Canelo won the rematch by majority decision a year later.
But the thrill and controversy of the results left fans demanding a trilogy to complete the series.
After four years of waiting, Canelo secured bragging rights conclusively over 12 rounds in Las Vegas.
Now, the question turns to what is next for the Mexican superstar? SunSport breaks down his options.

    Dmitry Bivol
    David Benavidez
    Jermall Charlo
    Oleksandr Usyk
    Ilunga Makabu

    Eubank Jr calls out Golovkin
Chris Eubank Jr has called out Gennady Golovkin for a fight before the end of the year.
Eubank is set to take on Conor Benn next month, but that hasn’t stopped him from looking ahead to a bout with Golovkin.
He said: “GGG you had a great run.
“Come back down to middleweight & let’s fight for those belts you still have in December or just pass em over & I’ll look after them for the next couple years while you enjoy retirement.
    “You earned it champ.”
De la Hoya “falling asleep” during fight
Oscar de la Hoya was almost “falling ASLEEP” during Canelo Alvarez’s trilogy win over Gennady Golovkin.
De La Hoya promoted the two thrilling fights between the former middleweight rivals.
For the trilogy almost half a decade in the making, Eddie Hearn promoted the fight.
And it ended with Canelo winning via unanimous decision in what was the most unentertaining bout of the series.
De La Hoya, who watched from ringside, posted on Instagram: “I was falling asleep until @holly.sinders grabbed my ass.”
    Draw’s not on the cards
Canelo Alvarez would have walked away with an unthinkable draw in his trilogy fight with Gennady Golovkin had he lost ONE more round.
The Mexican in 2017 was accused of escaping with an undeserved draw in his adopted fight home of Las Vegas.
And a year later, when Canelo emerged victorious in the rematch with a majority decision, again some felt GGG deserved the nod.
Although this time around, four years on there could be no argument as the Mexican bossed proceedings in the overdue trilogy.
But the scorecards did not reflect that, with Dave Moretti’s judging it 116-112 and Steve Weisfeld as well as David Sutherland’s reading 115-113.
That means, if Canelo had lost just one more round, it would have been scored 114-114, ending in a disastrous draw.
    Scorecard from the main card
The official scorecard gives Canelo a points victory.
David Moretti scored in favour of the Mexican, 116 to 112.
Steve Weisfeld 115 to 113 and David Sutherland 115 to 113 for a unanimous win.

    Mexican stand-off?
Canelo has clarified his position on fighting against Mexican boxers.
He has previously claimed he would not fight against any of his compatriots because he already represents Mexico.
He has been called out recently by David Benavidez.
    He added: “I’ll fight anyone!
“His (Benavidez’s) dad has talked a lot of s*** but look at what he’s accomplished. Nothing.”
    Going under the knife
Canelo has revealed he needs to have SURGERY on his hand after his trilogy win over Gennady Golovkin.
The Mexican said: “I need surgery on my hand after this. On my left hand. But I’m good, I’m a warrior and that is why I’m here.
“[It bothered me] a lot. I can’t hold a glass. It is really bad. But I am a warrior.”
Canelo was better on the day
Golovkin said: “Everybody knows who is Canelo, everybody knows a bad step, you lose the fight.
“You lose one punch, you lose the fight. Look at his face, look at my face.
“We’re like this because it was a high-level fight because we trained well and we did a very good quality fight.
“This fight was more tactical, like chess. Today Canelo was better.”
    Take a chill pill
Canelo Alvarez wants to rest up before jumping into a rematch with Dmitry Bivol.
He said after beating Gennady Golovkin: “I need rest.
“I need to come back and get strength back in my hand, recover my hand and get strength back in my body so I can come back stronger than ever.”

Canelo’s reaction to beating the Kazakh
Thank you for everything, thank you Golovkin.Canelo Alvarez
“We gave the fans three good fights.
“I’ve gone through some very difficult things in my life and the only thing you can do is try to continue and move forward.
“He’s a really good fighter. I know he’s strong, he’s a great fighter and that’s why we’re here and I’m glad to share the ring with him.
“I’m going to keep going forward, to keep my legacy going strong.”
    Tril seekers
Canelo and Gennady Golovkin squashed their beef after 36 rounds shared in their epic trilogy bout.
GGG held a grudge for almost half a decade having been unfortunate to walk away with only a draw and a loss in their first two thrillers.
And while the trilogy fight – four years after Canelo’s rematch win – did not live up the billing, it did settle the score once and for all.
He said: “Thank you so much my friend. Thank you for everything.
“We gave the fans three good fights and thank you for everything, OK.”
Golovkin, 40, agreed with Canelo, 32, as the pair of boxing legend’s embraced in the middle of the ring.
GGG said: “I want to shake hands with Canelo, congrats. The guy is a real warrior and if you don’t understand, you don’t understand nothing.”

    Card tricks
Despite Canelo Alvarez’s domination against Gennady Golovkin the scorecards were still the talking point.
Although this time around, four years on there could be no argument as the Mexican bossed proceedings in the overdue trilogy.
But the scorecards did not reflect that, with one reading 116-112 and two others 115-113.
That means, if Canelo had lost just one more round, it would have been scored 114-114, an almost unthinkable result.

    ‘I’m still champion’
Gennady Golovkin has confirmed he will not retire and looks ready to return to middleweight with his WBA, IBF and IBO belts.
He said: “Remember guys, I still have three belts at 160. I’ll come back guys. I’m still champion guys.”
    Credit: EPA
    Not Oscar worthy
Canelo Alvarez’s former promoter Oscar De La Hoya was not impressed by the trilogy fight.
De La Hoya promoted the first two Las Vegas classics and took a visit to watch the third instalment at the T-Mobile Arena.
But the boxing legend said he almost “fell ASLEEP” during the action.

    Eu want some?
Chris Eubank Jr, who fights Conor Benn on October 8, wants GGG to face him in December or RETIRE.
Eubank tweeted: “GGG you had a great run.
“Come back down to middleweight & let’s fight for those belts you still have in December or just pass em over & I’ll look after them for the next couple years while you enjoy retirement… you earned it champ.”

Canelo says: “I’ve gone through difficult times recently with my defeats and I’ve actually shown that defeats are great because it enables you to come back and show humility.”

Judges score the bout, 116-112, 115-113 (x2) with your winner by unanimous decision, Canelo Alvarez!
And somehow, we are still talking about a judging controversy!
Two judges had Canelo winning by just two rounds, meaning if he lost the final round, it would have been a draw.

    Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin
There should be little controversy as we await the judges decision.
Unlike the first two thrilling encounters, there is little argument for Golovkin winning this one.
He rallied late but by then Canelo had already picked up a landslide lead.

Final round, the 36th of their trilogy series. Nice short uppercut from Golovkin, who wants to at least finish putting up a fight.
Now Canelo steps on the front foot, searching for a big finish but is backed up as the two clinch.

GGG starting to come forward now, showing a bit of belief.
But back comes Canelo, leading with the left hoo, the pair shorten the distance and swap uppercuts.

Big left hook rocks Canelo’s chin back and the former middleweight king is starting to come into the fight a bit now.
Lovely left body shot for Canelo and GGG felt that and grimaced a bit.
Another good set of exchanges towards the end, both landing shots, and fans will be wishing this came a few rounds earlier.

Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin – Round 9
The two come come together and trade blows on the inside, Canelo looking to double up the right hand downstairs and to the head.
Another big uppercut comes in for Canelo and GGG is trying to take the sting out of the punches here.
Golovkin comes forward on the front foot, letting his hands go and backing Canelo up.
Good success for the Kazakh towards the end of the round which produced a response from Canelo, best round of the fight so far.

    What has been said?
“I feel very happy and proud to be able to give the best fights and this fight won’t be an exception,” said Canelo.
And Golovkin has simply said: “I hope to see you on September 17.”
Promoter Eddie Hearn added: “The Canelo vs GGG trilogy is the biggest fight in boxing and I am delighted to get this made for September 17.
“These are two men that bitterly dislike each other and want to end this incredible series with a blistering KO.
“I truly believe this will be the most thrilling fight between these two great champions and it will be fireworks from the first bell to the last man standing.”
What has Canelo had to say?
Canelo Alvarez is stepping back into the ring for the first time since his loss to Bivol in May.
But he’s confident he can knock out Golovkin, who has never even touched the canvas once in his legendary career.
“I’ll be looking to get the stoppage,” said Alvarez. “This is as edgy as I’ve been before a fight for a while.”
“I work better under pressure. The pressure I put on myself is to finish this inside the distance. I have a tough rival in front of me but that will be my aim on Saturday night.
“I’m really motivated to be here.
“Obviously, the [Bivol] defeat hurt but we are back on the path to greatness.”
    Credit: AP
    Big KO for Castro!
    Wow!
Huge right uppercut from Castro in the fifth round ends Montiel, who folds instantly.
The stoppage had been coming, but that was more emphatic than expected.
    Big shot. Big win.
    Marc Castro in action
Prospect Marc Castro is currently in action against Fernando Montiel at the T-Mobile Arena.
After four rounds, Castro looks to be in control of things so far.
    Tale of the tape
Here’s how the two fighters measure up against each other.
The big sticking point, you’ll see, is Golovkin’s age.
Other than that, the two are perhaps the most well-matched fighters to clash in recent boxing history.

    Weigh-in results
Canelo and Golovkin weighed in yesterday in Las Vegas outside the T-Mobile Arena in front of thousands of fans.
Their first two bouts were contested at middleweight, but tonight’s will be fought at super-middle.
Golovkin is at his highest ever weight, while Canelo has been here before at 168lbs.

    Canelo – 167.4lbs
    GGG – 167.8lbs

Welcome to Canelo vs Golovkin 3!
Good evening and welcome to SunSport’s live coverage of Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin 3 – that’s right, the trilogy is on.
Four years after their rematch, which ended in a controversial majority decision win for the Mexican, the two multi-weight warriors will come to blows again.
In 2017, the pair met in the ring for the first time, and that also controversially ended in a draw, so Golovkin really feels like he has a score to settle.
The only problem for the Kazakh icon is that time isn’t on his side.
At 40 years old, his best days are behind him, while an argument can be made that Canelo, 32, is in his athletic prime.
The four-weight titlist, however, lost his last fight up at light-heavyweight against Dmitry Bivol – and he looked pretty sluggish in the process.
Golovkin, however, became a unified champion at middleweight by beating Ryota Murata – but will be at his heaviest weight ever tonight.
As ever, we’ve got all the action covered here at SunSport for what should be a stellar night of fights from Las Vegas.
So kick back and crack open a cold one – Canelo vs GGG III is upon us!

    Romero on the bench…
For many, Cristian Romero is one of the best defenders in the Premier League, and has been crucial in Spurs’ good start to the season.
But he is on the bench today seemingly due to his poor form since he returned from injury…
    Predictions?
At SunSport we are predicting a 2-1 win for Tottenham in this one.
It could be close, as Leicester are desperate for points at the bottom of the table, but Spurs at home are a tough task for any team, and their attack will have a point to prove after the dropping of Heung Min Son…
Who do you think will win it?

    Leicester fans unhappy…
Is perhaps the least surprising statement of the season so far, as they sit bottom of the Premier League table.
But they are really unhappy on social media, about the managers decision to continue to play Ward in goal.
Fans are calling for back up keeper Iversen to start, and it has been tough for the Foxes after they didn’t replace the outgoing Kasper Schmeichel in the summer just gone.
You would imagine that a Ward clean sheet would keep them quiet today, but that is highly unlikely…
    Room for both?
Heung Min Son is seemingly not the only player to be dropped for his poor performances in this game, as Emerson Royal faces the same consequences.
It is expected that Ivan Perisic will be playing right wing back today, and Ryan Sessegnon will occupy the left flank on which he was particularly brilliant in pre-season.
If it works out, this could be a brilliant move for Conte’s side…
Sessegnon has been excellent when he has played for Spurs so far this season…Credit: Getty
    Son dropped!
    Well, well, well…
We said earlier that there is no better way to break your goal drought than by playing the team that is bottom of the league, but you can’t do that if you’re not playing.
Heung Min Son has been dropped by Antonio Conte for this game, and has subsequently been replaced by Richarlison, who was excellent in mid week.

    Tottenham to win 40/85
    Draw 18/5
    Leicester victory 11/2
Son to get off the mark?
Much has been made of Heung Min Son’s start to the 22/23 Premier League season, as last season’s golden boot winner has just one assist and no goals to his name so far.
Everyone knows that the South Korean is a sublime goal scorer, but he had struggled to find his feet thus far.
But, what better way to break your goal scoring duck than against the team that is bottom of the Premier League?

Good afternoon! Welcome to Tottenham vs Leicester!
Good afternoon football fans, and welcome to SunSport’s coverage of today’s late kick-off, Tottenham vs Leicester.
This is always a tasty affair between two huge clubs, but they are at opposite ends of the table going into this one.
Tottenham have a chance to end the day in second place, if they are to pick up three points as expected at home, which will see them only behind Manchester City on goal difference.
Leicester on the other hand sit at the foot at the PL table in 20th place, after their poor start to the season.
Both teams are really in need of a win today, which normally sets nus up for a brilliant game of Premier League football…

Eddie Howe’s men booed off as Isak penalty rescues point for insipid Toon

THIS is not how it was supposed to go for the richest club in the land. Alexander Isak’s penalty saved Newcastle from a humiliating defeat against Bournemouth after Phillip Billing’s opener – but this was must-win for Eddie Howe’s Mags.

After spending £200million in 2022, expectations have been raised on Tyneside.
And anything other than a win versus a newly-promoted side is simply not good enough these days.
This was supposed to be the season when the Saudi-funded Mags announced themselves as serious contenders, as the side capable of smashing down the established order.
But after seven games it’s just one win – coming on the first day of the campaign against Nottingham Forest – with this uninspiring showing as flat as Newcastle have been under Eddie Howe.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
Up against his former club for the first time, Howe cut a frustrated figure all afternoon as his boys struggled to unlock Bournemouth’s defence.
And while St James’ Park has been bouncing ever since the Saudi takeover last October, there were more moans and groans here than throughout that time.
Newcastle were boosted by the return of midfield baller Bruno Guimaraes after a three-game absence due to a hamstring problem.
There was still no Allan Saint-Maximin or Callum Wilson though, leaving the bench worryingly weak.
    Most read in Football
But forget about the bang-average bench, the starting XI here were off the boil and uninspiring.
And that filtered into the stands with the small pocket of away fans up in the gods of St James’ Park making much more noise.
Howe and Magpies co-owner Amanda Staveley joined the players on the pitch for an impeccably-observed minute’s silence in memory of the Queen.
The Cherries fans were singing Howe’s name within minutes of the start, but they were less welcoming towards ex-winger Ryan Fraser – booing his every touch.
Their former manager is a legend for life, but it doesn’t look like they’ll forget Fraser refusing to play at the end of the 2019-20 season when Bournemouth were relegated in a hurry.
Kieran Trippier rattled the post with a free-kick from 20 yards but frustration was building heading into the break.
Kieran Trippier was unlucky as he saw his set piece hit the postCredit: PA
Joelinton was the one Toon player providing some oomph, with the Brazilian somehow not putting Newcastle ahead with a flurry of chances.
His first effort from the left of the box across goal bounced off the posts before Cherries keeper Neto denied him moments later.
Flying to his left, the Brazilian then superbly saved from Fraser for good measure.
Bournemouth were hardly threatening at the other end but Marcus Tavernier should have done better than nodding Jordan Zemura’s looping cross wide after finding himself free and Toon goalie Nick Pope in no man’s land.
The visitors were camped in at the start of the second half yet continued to prove a tough nut to crack.
Record £60million striker Alexander Isak struggled to get into the game – however it’s a little unfair to hammer him too much given the lack of decent supply from wide men Fraser and Miguel Almiron.
Referee Craig Pawson changed his mind and awarded a penalty after consulting the monitorCredit: Getty
The visitors remained a threat on the counter and left St James’ Park stunned into silence when taking the lead 62 minutes in.
Coming at the end of a great move from their own half, Zemura’s cute cross from the left was poked beyond a rooted Pope by Billing at the near post.
Billing ghosted in undetected and it looked like the first crisis of Howe’s tenure looked on the cards.
Newcastle needed an immediate response – and they were handed it thanks to VAR just four minutes later.
Trippier’s cross from the right clearly struck Jefferson Lerma’s left arm from close range but nothing was given and there was little argument.
Ref Craig Pawson was then told to go and look on his monitor, with the ball clearly striking Lerma even if there was not a huge amount he could do.
The penalty was given, St James’ held its breath, Isak stepped up and the Swede buried home into the bottom left corner.
The Geordies briefly burst into life, sensing a winner – only for the final 20 minutes to underwhelm as much as the first 70.

ERLING HAALAND has continued his stunning start as a Manchester City star with his ELEVENTH goal of the season to fire his side TOP of the Premier League.Jack Grealish had given the champions a perfect start to their game against Wolves with a goal inside 60 seconds.
Then Grealish was the victim of a horrific studs-up challenge from Nathan Collins, who drove his boot into the City man’s lower abdomen – and could have caused far more damage.
Collins was shown a straight red card for the act.
Phil Foden added the icing on the cake with a cheeky flick at the near post to give Pep Guardiola’s side breathing space to fire them top.
And with Premier League top scorer Haaland in their side, goals are never far away.

    That’s all from us…
That is all for SunSport’s coverage of Wolves 0-3 Manchester City.
It was a great game, which had it all, including an Erling Haaland goal, Grealish getting his first goal of the season, and a crazy Nathan Collins red card.
Join us today also for coverage of Tottenham vs Leicester later on, with coverage of that one beginning at 4pm.
Thank you as always for reading, we hope you enjoyed, and have a great afternoon!
    Grealish reflects…
Jack Grealish spoke to BT Sport after scoring his first goal of the Premier League season against Wolves.
He was criticised before this game for not contributing enough goals and assists to the City side, but had this to say on the matter:
“I should be scoring more and getting assists”
“I’m always going to have people talk about me because of the amount I got bought for”
“Hopefully I repaid Pep for starting me after Wednesday”
He was excellent today, and put in a great performance that showcased his true ability.
    Man of the match?
The SunSport man of the match award today goes to Kevin De Bruyne, who got two assists today.
The brilliant Belgian beat the likes of Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish and Phil Foden to the post, who were all excellent.
Do you agree with us? Or do you think someone else deserves it?

    Collins sees red.
Playing against Jack Grealish can be frustrating at the best of times.
The winger’s brilliance at evading challenges is annoying for defenders, but there was no evading this one from Collins.
The Wolves defender was sent off in the 32nd minute for a Kung-Fu style challenge on Grealish, which left a big red mark on the latter.

    Heroic Haaland.
Well you just knew that was going to happen.
Another day, another goal from Erling Haaland in a Manchester City shirt.
That takes his simply sublime total to 11 league goals this season in just seven games, which is, well, outrageous.
He makes goal scoring look easy in the Premier League, and has shown already he can finish on his right foot, left foot, with his head, it doesn’t matter.
    He is just brilliant.

    Clinical City go top.
Those three points see Manchester City go to the summit of the Premier League, thanks to goals from Grealish, Haaland (shock) and Foden.
Jack Grealish scored his first Premier League goal of the season inside one minute of play after a delightful backheel from Phil Foden to Kevin De Bruyne, who whipped in a cross on a platter for the Brit.
It wasn’t long before that man Erling Haaland got his 11th PL goal of the season on the 16th minute with a right-footed strike from outside the box, which left Max Kilman spinning.
A moment of madness from Nathan Collins saw him get a red card for a Kung-Fu style challenge on Jack Grealish, which left a nasty red mark on the winger.
Foden then made it 3-0, after more brilliant play from KDB down the right hand side, and a tidy finish from the English star boy.
That takes City top of the league at least until tomorrow, when Arsenal could reclaim their seat at the top if they beat Brentford.

    90. Wolves 0-3 Manchester City
Another three minutes of added time here at Molineux.
    88. Wolves 0-3 Manchester City
Wolves still going for a concellation goal, but the cross is claimed by Ederson.
    86. Wolves 0-3 Manchester City
Substitute for Wolves, Campbell replaces Neto.
    84. Wolves 0-3 Manchester City
Alvarez has a go on goal but looks to be caught in two minds between that and a pass to Haaland.
The shot is weak and scooped up by Sa.
    82. Wolves 0-3 Manchester City
A change for each team and Sergio Gomez comes on for Rodri, and Nelson Semedo replaces Ait-Nouri for Wolves.
    80. Wolves 0-3 Manchester City
City look really comfortable in seeing this one out now, Haaland tries to reach a Gundogan flick on the stretch, but can’t quite make it.
He is certainly still hungry for more goals.
    78. Wolves 0-3 Manchester City
Cole Palmer comes on for goal scorer Jack Grealish, and picks out Mahrez who lashes a volley goal bound that is blocked for another corner.
    76. Wolves 0-3 Manchester City
Ait-Nouri is dispossessed on the counter attack, and Mahrez sprays a long pass towards Haaland, who eventually wins a corner for City.
    74. Wolves 0-3 Manchester City
There was also a double change for Wolves a few minutes ago.
Hwang Hee Chan and Boubacar Traore came on for Podence and Guedes.
    72. Wolves 0-3 Manchester City
There are a host of substitutes for Manchester City here.
De Bruyne, Foden and Bernardo Silva are replaced by Alvarez, Mahrez and Gundogan.
    70. Wolves 0-3 Manchester City
There is a pause on the 70th minute to hold a round of applause for Queen Elizabeth II.
    70. Wolves 0-3 Manchester City
In similar fashion to the first goal, De Bruyne overlaps Haaland this time on the right side, and he delivers a cross into Foden, who finishes beautifully with one touch.
    70. Wolves 0-3 Manchester City
Foden gets in on the act!
    68. Wolves 0-2 Manchester City
Gundogan is warming up on the Manchester City bench, and we could see the end of either Haaland or Grealish very soon in this one.
Grealish finds Haaland in the middle of the park, who has a shot, but it is saved by Jose Sa, Foden’s shot on the rebound is blocked.
    66. Wolves 0-2 Manchester City
Matheus Nunes picks up a yellow card for a late challenge on Jack Grealish.
Neves also goes in the book for protesting it…
    64. Wolves 0-2 Manchester City
Wolves get forward down the right hand side and deliver a good cross, but it is briliantly intercepted by Ruben Dias.
    62. Wolves 0-2 Manchester City
De Bruyne is found on the right-hand side with a lot of space, and should maybe pick out Haaland, but doesn’t and the cross is blocked.
Cancelo then tries a shot from distance, but it sails over.
    60. Wolves 0-2 Manchester City
A good chance falls at the feet of Guedes, after some great work by Ait-Nouri, but he scuffs the shot.

Aston Villa 1 Southampton 0: Jacob Ramsey’s scrappy strike earns first win in five Prem games for Steven Gerrard’s Villa

JACOB RAMSEY snatched the vital goal which eased the pressure on Steven Gerrard and sent Villa into the international break feeling a whole lot better about themselves. However the real heroes were found further back as much maligned defensive duo Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa held firm to secure their first clean sheet in a dozen attempts.

Gerrard’s previously brittle defence didn’t buckle on a tense night which ended Villa’s worst run of conceding in consecutive games for nine years, to build on their morale-boosting draw with Man City.
It may not be sexy – but it’s a solid start on the road to recovery as Gerrard’s men moved out of the lower reaches to finish the night in 13th.
Saints threw everything at them – including keeper Gavin Bazunu – in a frantic finale which saw Stuart Armstrong flash a header inches wide.
But the relief on Gerrard’s face was clear as he thumped his No.2 Gary McAllister’s back at full-time.

Villa’s fans couldn’t hold a candlelit vigil for Queen Elizabeth II.
However they did their best as the Villa Park lights dimmed and thousands held up their mobile phones and flicked on their torches in a modern-day tribute during the pre-match minute’s silence.

In each corner of the hushed ground images of The Queen emerged in stark black and white on Villa’s giant scoreboards.
“God Save the King,” then rang out around the famous old ground where Villa’s most famous supporter Prince William has often taken his place among the home support.

If that was a moment of class it soon made way for some less than inspiring football as two nervous looking teams tested each other out without producing much in the way of goalmouth action.
Perhaps their reputation went before them.
Ralph Hasenhuttl’s Saints arrived in the Midlands on the back of a 12-match run without keeping a clean sheet.
Villa couldn’t snigger as Steve Gerrard’s strugglers were just one behind on 11.
It always seemed safe to assume that the two Premier League clubs least likely to keep the door shut would serve up a Friday night goalfest.
However, against the odds both defences came out comfortably on top for much of the first half as they hurled themselves  in front of the ball to block shots and generally do the job they are handsomely paid for.
    Thankfully, it couldn’t last.
And it was the much-maligned Philippe Coutinho who provided the touch of mischief needed to lighten this dour battle and spark the game to life.

Villa were fully deserving of the three points after limiting the Saints to just one shot on targetCredit: Reuters
Steven Gerrard has been criticised for remaining too loyal to his former teammate who had tested the patience of home fans by scoring just one goal and providing no assists in his past 17 Premier appearances.
But it was the Brazilian who started to make cracks appear after 34 minutes with a sudden 180 degree spin which left James Ward-Prowse dizzy before he rifled a shot over.
That piece of skill lifted the home support and Coutinho’s spirits because four minutes before the break he almost ended the stalemate.
Ashley Young’s deep cross evaded Ollie Watkins and his marker and Coutinho stole in to flash a header goalwards which Gavin Bazunu turned away.
From the corner Coutinho worked a short one-two with Lucas Digne then picked out Watkins who powered in a header.
Bazunu reacted instinctively to push it onto his bar however Jacob Ramsey was first to react to volley home the rebound from close range.
Villa’s fans faced an anxious wait while VAR searched in vain for a stray toe or torso which would have ruled it out – but to Ramsey’s relief there was no infringement and his goal stood.
Villa’s joy was temporarily dampened when midfielder Boubacar Kamara limped off to be replaced by Douglas Luiz.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s men are in 12th spot after suffering back-to-back defeatsCredit: AP
However the Brazilian corner king almost made an instant impact.
Fresh from scoring direct from flag kicks against Bolton and Arsenal, Douglas Luiz almost added a third with a stunning delivery which Bazunu frantically clawed from under his bar to safety.
Bailey then flashed a deflected shot narrowly wide, causing Hasenhuttl to make a double substitution at the break as he sent on Juan Larios and Joe Aribo for Romain Perraud and Ibrahima Diallo.
Villa were in no mood to mess around and there were deserved bookings either side of the break for Coutinho then Ramsey for cynical trips on breaking Saints players.
Unfortunately the action was similarly ugly as both sides struggled to create any clear cut chance until Saints late push was resisted.

Sheriff looking to lay down law
Not since being eliminated by Viktoria Plzen in Champions League qualifying have Sheriff suffered defeat in any competition.
Since bombing out of Europe’s elite competition, the Moldovan side have won six and drawn two of their eight encounters since.
The Moldovan giants will be looking to continue their fine form this evening.
Chișinău ready for Red Devils’ arrival
The Zimbru Stadium is all kitted out ready for the Europa League game against one of the biggest names in European football.
ten Hag’s star-studded United team will be looking to set the record straight this evening.

    ten Hag lauds United fans
The Man Utd manager has spoken about how great the support is from the United fans.
Following his team to Melbourne, Bangkok and Perth in pre-season they now follow The Red Devils to Moldova.
Tonight’s journey should be given far more credit with it being close to the Ukrainian border in the current climate.
    Dutchman well aware of challenge
The Man Utd manager was asked of his team’s approach tonight following their defeat in their opening group game of the competition:
Pressure is for every game, we have to win every game. When you lose the first game, you have to win the second, so we know what our task is. We always play a strong team, so also tomorrow we will play a strong team.Erik ten HagMan Utd
    Keep the run going
Man Utd have scored in their last 15 European games and have not failed to score on the road since prior to the covid-19 pandemic.
Goals seemed hard to come by at Old Trafford in their last Europa League outing and the Dutch manager will be keen to see his attacking players firing on cylinders again.
The stern defence of Sheriff Tirapsol will ask questions of that record in Moldova tonight.
    The Cristiano Conundrum
For the majority of the transfer window, the incoming signings were overshadowed by their wantaway striker looking to play Champions League football this term.
ten Hag could be seen to slump in his chair, every press conference, as more questions were fielded about the Portuguese striker’s time at Man Utd.
Tonight will offer Ronaldo to show why he is regarded as one of the best strikers in Europe.
Welcome to Sheriff vs Man Utd
Erik ten Hag takes his Man Utd team to Moldova this evening, hoping to get their first win of their Europe League campaign against Sheriff Tiraspol at the Zimbru Stadium.
Having lost their opening group game, losing 1-0 to Real Sociedad at Old Trafford, their hosts tonight ran out convincing 3-0 winners over Omonia Nicosia.
Pressure will be on the United manager to bounce back from the Real Sociedad defeat which ended their run of four consecutive wins, ten Hag will be keen to get his side off to winning ways in Europe this season.
Sheriff have come through their last two fixtures without any fresh injury concerns and only goalkeeper Dumitru Celeadnic should be absent following a positive covid-19 test.
United’s injury concerns are far more complicated with striker Anthony Martial still dealing with an achilles problem.
The Frenchman has been left out alongside Facundo Pellistri, Donny van de Beek, Martin Dubravka, Marcus Rashford, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams.
Luke Shaw’s foot injury has cleared up in time for him to be included in the squad, while Marcus Rashford’s absence should mean Cristiano Ronaldo leading the line for United this evening.
