F1 Japanese Grand Prix LIVE: Stream, TV channel as Verstappen closes in on championship win – Qualifying updates

FORMULA ONE action returns at top speed with the racers battling it out at the Japanese Grand Prix.Max Verstappen surrendered the opportunity to clinch a second successive championship win in Singapore last weekend.
However, the Red Bull driver will get a second bite of the cherry on the Suzuka Circuit.

    What Max Verstappen has said
Max Verstappen will be aware of how close he is from securing a second successive championship.
But the iconic F1 racer realises that he has a tough task at the Japanese GP with the ever-changing weather conditions.
Luckily it wasn’t a complete disaster with the weather at least we could get around and do a little bit of stuff. In terms of knowing where you are with pace, in the wet, it’s always a bit tricky.
We did the basic things (to learn) and not more than that so that’s why I’m looking forward to tomorrow to see how we can be in the dry.
How Verstappen can win the title
Verstappen has one hand on the F1 title and he can incredibly clinch it without finishing first.
But it would require him scoring a minimum of eight points more than Leclerc and a minimum of six more than Perez.
If the Red Bull racer was to finish second, Leclerc would have to rank fifth or higher to keep the title alive.
Verstappen finishing third with the fastest lap bonus point will mean Leclerc having to chart fifth or higher or Perez needs to finish a minimum of fourth to deny him.
But a third place finish without the bonus point means sixth place for Leclerc or fourth place for Perez would be enough for the title race to go beyond the weekend.
Fourth for Verstappen would see Leclerc needing only seventh place and fifth means that Leclerc just needs to avoid falling below eighth on the leaderboards to survive another day.
    Crash but no burn
Here is the major talking point of the Practice sessions. Thankfully Mick Schumacher escaped the car with no injuries.
But my guess is that Haas will need to supply him with a new car.

    Current F1 standings
Here are the current top ten in the 2022 standings:

    Max Verstappen – 341 points
    Charles Leclerc – 237 points
    Sergio Perez – 235 points
    George Russell – 203 points
    Carlos Sainz – 202 points
    Lewis Hamilton – 170 points
    Lando Norris – 100 points
    Esteban Ocon – 66 points
    Fernando Alonso – 59 points
    Valterri Bottas – 46 points

Welcome to the Japanese Grand Prix
Congratulations if you managed to drag yourself out of bed to tune in for this very early coverage of the Japanese GP Practice & Qualffying. We will make it worth it.
The rain in yesterday’s Practice sessions added to the ever-present drama in Formula 1.
We had Mercedes duo George Russell and Lewis Hamilton seal a one-two in Practice Two.
Mick Schumacher CRASHED out of Practice and completely damaged his Haas car
And we even witnessed Michael Latiffi take a wrong turn during the second session, meeting with a dead end due to his visibility on the track.
But the Canadian cannot afford to do something like that again as today is the last chance for all the racers to get a good spot in Sunday’s race which, judging today’s weather, could be very difficult to overtake.
Keep up to date with our live blog as we will have ALL the latest gossip from Qualifying right through until the big race in Suzuka.

Conor Benn vs Chris Eubank Jr LIVE UPDATES: Fight OFF after Hearn’s late bid to move venue, Eubank Jr goads opponent

CHRIS EUBANK JR’s and Conor Benn’s massive clash is OFF and the whole circus has descended into a farce.Eddie Hearn tried a last-minute scramble to get the fight moved to Luxembourg or Malta, but there was no way he could make it happen.
The British Boxing board of Control ‘prohibited’ the fight after Benn’s failed drugs test, however promoter Eddie Hearn fought for the bout to go ahead.
But now the fight is now OFF, Hearn has confirmed.
We’ll be bringing you all of the latest updates as they unfold here.

‘It would have been a travesty’
Legendary sports writer and SunSport’s voice of boxing Colin Hart has had his say on the abandoned Benn v Eubank fight – and he’s relieved it is not going ahead.
Hart said: “Mercifully, Conor Benn and Chris Eubank Jr will not now be battling it out tomorrow.
“Boxing can heave a huge sign of relief it’s not facing the possibility of a catchweight catastrophe.
“I regard it as a blessing in disguise.
“Despite the obvious box-office appeal, I felt it had no validity and was a highly-dangerous enterprise considering the huge difference in size between the two men.
“If the weight controversy wasn’t serious enough, Conor being allowed to carry on after failing a dope test would have been a travesty.”
Read Colin Hart’s full punchy column on the incredible Benn Eubank events here.
    ‘No Words’
Chris Eubank Jr spent much of yesterday afternoon taking jabs at Conor Benn over Twitter after their fight was officially called off.
The pair were set to go head-to-head at the O2 on Saturday night in a highly-anticipated bout before Benn failed his VADA drug test.
A furious Eubank Jr last night posted this video of Conor Benn speaking to Sky Sports.

Dave Kidd: Hearn an artist of hypocrisy and contradiction
There is one man in boxing who never takes it on the chin – and that is Eddie Hearn.
Even after his fighter, Conor Benn, failed a drug test and caused the postponement of tomorrow’s scrap with Chris Eubank Jr, the promoter had the barefaced cheek to point the finger of blame at the British Boxing Board of Control.
Even by boxing’s snake-belly standards, this was low.
News of Benn testing positive for Clomifene – a drug which boosts testosterone – emerged on Wednesday, swiftly followed by the BBBofC announcing their refusal to sanction the fight.
Yet it was not until after 27 hours of furious wriggling that Hearn, and Eubank Jr’s promoter Kalle Sauerland, finally threw in the towel and called off the whole farce.
That came in a statement which claimed the Board of Control’s actions were ‘procedurally flawed and without due process’.
Hearn claimed there would be ‘no further statement’. Then staged a press conference. Then refused to take any questions.
Then blamed the media for reporting what he had told them the previous day – that he would seek an injunction against the Board and approach foreign commissions to preside over the fight.
This is a sport which operates like the Wild West, but where the outlaws seem genuinely stunned when the Sheriff dares to flex his muscles.
Read the rest of Dave Kidd’s brilliant column…
    Hearn points the finger
Incredibly, Hearn has blamed the BBBofC for him having to cancel the whole show, including the undercard, writes WALLY DOWNES JR.
Exclusive broadcasters DAZN will have suffered a huge financial blow.
The undercard fighters did not get as far as the Friday weigh-in, which usually triggers guaranteed payment.
But Matchroom boss Hearn will be under pressure to compensate them.
Benn failed a Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) test.
But he has not been suspended as that is decided by the UK Anti-Doping body (UKAD). They have requested access to the samples.
    I will make Eu pay
Chris Eubank Jr promised Conor Benn he will punish him for wrecking their £25million fight by failing a drug test.
Benn tested positive for traces of Clomifene, which can boost testosterone, and the British Boxing Board of Control refused to sanction the showdown.
Promoter Eddie Hearn tried to overturn the BBBofC’s decision but was forced to eventually cancel under mounting public pressure.
Gutted Eubank Jr, 33, who still wanted to fight Benn, said: “Conor got caught using an illegal substance so the fight is off.
“Can’t believe it. He has escaped his schooling for now.
“I really apologise to the fans and everyone that bought tickets, travelled and booked hotels, this should not have happened.”

    Good morning boxing fans
Chris Eubank Jr was forced to take a drugs test just hours after his fight with Conor Benn was POSTPONED due to his rival’s failed doping sample.
Saturday’s showdown was postponed after Benn failed a drugs test, with traces of clomifene discovered in his system.
Clomifene is commonly used as medication to treat infertility in women who do not ovulate, but it can also increase testosterone levels in men, which is why it is banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
As a result, the British Boxing Board of Control pulled the plug and refused to sanction the bout.
Benn has insisted he is a “clean athlete” despite the failed drugs test.
Rival Eubank Jr has also been subject to further testing.
The 33-year-old was greeted by a random drugs test at his hotel room despite the O2 scrap being postponed.
He said on Twitter: “Just got back to my hotel room to be greeted by another random drugs test… which as always I’m happy to take.
    “10 years & never failed one #CleanAthlete.”
A picture of samples being collected accompanied the tweet.
Eubank Jr has also apologised to his fans who had bought tickets and spent money to travel to the event.
He tweeted: “Conor got caught using an illegal substance so the fight is off. Can’t believe it.
“I really apologise to the fans & everyone that bought tickets, travelled & booked hotels, this should not of happened.
“He has escaped his schooling… for now.”
Matchroom issued the following statement: “After discussions with various parties, we have taken the decision to formally postpone the bout between Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn.
“It is undeniable that the British Boxing Board of Control’s decision to withdraw their sanctioning was procedurally flawed and without due process.
“That remains a legal issue between the promoters and the Board which we intend to pursue.
“However, whilst there are legal routes to facilitate the fight taking place as planned, we do not believe that the fight is in the fighters’ interests.”
    Eubank calls on Jake Paul
Chris Eubank Jr. has challenged Jake Paul to replace Conor Benn after their grudge match was axed.
The boxing showdown was thrown into doubt on Wednesday as Benn failed a drugs test and so the British Boxing Board of Control pulled the plug and refused to sanction the bout.
The boxers’ promoters, including Eddie Hearn, worked desperately to get the catchweight 157lb match back on.
But a decision has been made that the bout is not going ahead after all, with SunSport understanding talks will be held to get it rearranged.
YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul addressed the ongoing “fiasco” on social media and took a swipe at Hearn.
The Problem Child tweeted: “I can’t wait to see all of the texts and emails between Eddie Hearn and all the parties involved in this fiasco.”
Eubank caught wind of Paul’s quip and offered to book him a flight to London for an impromptu match.
The British star challenged him to replace Benn after he “fumbled AND crumbled under the pressure”.
Eubank tweeted: “How about I get you a jet to the U.K tomorrow & we scrap at the o2 on Saturday for the fans that are now missing out because Conor Benn fumbled AND crumbled under the pressure. You come in as heavy as you want.”
Paul, who is set to fight UFC legend Anderson Silva later this month, is yet to respond to the offer.
Amid the fall out from his cancelled bout, Eubank slammed rival Benn after a late bid to rescue the fight had failed.
Next Gen also apologised to fans who had already booked tickets and made travel arrangements.
Eubank tweeted: “Conor got caught using an illegal substance so the fight is off. Can’t believe it.
“I really apologise to the fans & everyone that bought tickets, traveled & booked hotels, this should not of happened. He has escaped his schooling… for now.”
Eubank also shared a clip of Benn speaking in 2019 about Jarrell Miller failing a drugs test that saw his world title fight against Anthony Joshua cancelled.
Benn said that his “nutritionist has a go at me for taking vitamin C tablets”.
    Hearn: Tickets will be refunded
Eddie Hearn has apologised to fans, and assured them that tickets for Saturday night’s postponed fight will be refunded at the first opportunity.
At a brief press conference this afternoon, the promoter said: “Tickets will be available for customers to refund immediately from the O2 Arena or point of purchase.
“We will be back in touch with the media and public soon in terms of a new schedule date for this fight.
‘We apologise that we weren’t able to bring you this great fight on DAZN but I hope you feel that the correct action has been taken.”
    Benn: I’m shocked and surprised
Conor Benn has released a short statement via social media admitting he is ‘shocked and surprised’ by findings showing that he had tested traces of a prohibited substance.
While confirming his priority is proving he is a clean fighter, Benn also said that he and his team were considering all options including the possible rescheduling of a bout with Chris Eubank Jr.
The 26-year-old also apologised to all those affected by the decision to postpone Saturday’s fight at short notice.
    Credit: @ConorNigel Twitter
    Smith favourite to fight Eubank
Chris Eubank Jr’s next fight will now be against Callum Smith, according to the bookmakers.
The 32-year-old scouser is the 6/4 favourite with Betfair to be Eubank’s next opponent following the collapse of his bout with Conor Benn.
However, there are hopes that the contest with Benn can be resurrected with the WBA Continental welterweight champion a 3/1 shot.

    Callum Smith 6/4
    Conor Benn 3/1
    Kell Brook 5/1
    Gennedy Golovkin 7/1
    Canelo Alvarez 20/1
    Billy Joe Saunders 33/1

Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: “Following the late cancellation of his eagerly-awaited bout against Conor Benn, Chris Eubank Jr now finds himself without an opponent and Callum Smith is the 6/4 favourite to fill the gap and be his next challenger.
“Kell Brook coming out of retirement for an all-British clash as Eubank’s next opponent is 5/1, while Eubank seeking a huge international fight against Golovkin is 7/1, and a shot to win four titles against Alvarez next is 20/1.”
    Rearranged fight date
Promoter Eddie Hearn has stressed that this is a fight postponement, not a cancellation.
A new date is yet to be announced and a full investigation is taking place.
    Chris Eubank Jr breaks silence
Chris Eubank Jr has broken his silence after the fight was officially called off.
Says he still can’t believe it.

    Felix Cash offers Eubank fight
Undercard fighter Felix Cash was offered Chris Eubank Jr a fight still on Saturday night.
Cash is from the same stable as Conor Benn.

    Hearn on fight postponement
So there you have it, the fight has been postponed.
But not without a fight from promoter Eddie Hearn.
And he’s released some scathing words on the British Boxing Board of Control in the official statement.
    Eddie Hearn statement
Eddie Hearn has released a statement now confirming the fight will be postponed.
And he has called the BBBofC’s decision “flawed and without due process”.

    Undercard OFF
The full undercard has now been cancelled too.
    News breaking at pace here.
    Official UKAD statement
UK Anti-Doping (UKAD) Chief Executive, Jane Rumble said: “UKAD notes the reporting of a failed VADA test by the boxer Conor Benn with concern.
“UKAD acts on all reports of doping and always encourages anyone with information on suspected doping activity to come forward and share that with us.”
    Conor Benn leaves hotel
Conor Benn has left the hotel in London.
His training partner Felix Cash, who is set to fight on the undercard, has just checked out of his hotel with all his bags.
So has Benn’s coach Dan Lawrence.
    Eddie Hearn statement
It is believed Eddie Hearn is putting together a statement on the cancellation now.
Why has the fight been cancelled?
Just two days before the weigh-in it emerged Benn had failed a pre-fight drug test, which SunSport understands was taken on September 23.
He returned an adverse finding for clomifene, which is commonly used as medication to treat infertility in women who do not ovulate.
But it can also increase testosterone levels in men, which is why it is on the World Anti-Doping Agency banned list.
SunSport also understands there could be an issue with a second test VADA took as part of the WBC’s Clean Boxing Program — but promoters Matchroom refused to comment.
    Credit: PA
    Ticket refunds
There has been no official statement regarding refunds yet.
However, when Leigh Wood’s bout with Mauricio Lara in Nottingham was ditched last month, fans had the option of claiming a refund or using their tickets to watch the undercard.
    Benn’s team leave hotel
Conor Benn’s training partner Felix Cash, who is set to fight on the undercard, has just checked out of his hotel with all his bags.
So has Benn’s coach Dan Lawrence.
    Fight to be rearranged
SunSport understands that talks will be held to to get Eubank vs Benn rearranged.
Hearn’s appeal did not reach the High Court, with an agreement made to cancel the fight before that – there simply was not enough time to find a solution.
And the fighters would have been guaranteed their purses should the weigh-ins, due for Friday, get completed.
    Official – fight is OFF
Conor Benn’s fight with Chris Eubank Jr is definitely OFF after Eddie Hearn’s last-ditch bid to rescue it failed.
Saturday’s showdown was thrown into doubt yesterday when Benn failed a drugs test.
The British Boxing Board of Control pulled the plug and refused to sanction the bout.
However, both fighters were said to still be happy to lace up the gloves.
The boxers’ promoters, including Eddie Hearn, worked desperately to get the catchweight 157lb fight back on – which was scheduled to be shown live on DAZN.
But now the decision has been made that the fight is NOT going ahead after all – with SunSport understanding talks will be held to to get it rearranged.
    Eubank Jr vs Benn OFF
The fight between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn is OFF.
    More to follow.

    Thanks for joining us!
Everything is rosy at the Emirates this season and Mikel Arteta can seemingly do no wrong.
In the not too-distant past it would have been a risk to rotate his squad to the extent that he did so tonight, but he was fully vindicated in his decision.
Players such as Tomiyasu and Lokonga fitted seamlessly in to the side as Arsenal comfortably dispatched their Norwegian opposition.
Bodo/Glimt will have the opportunity to avenge their defeat next Thursday when the Gunners travel to the Arctic Circle for the return fixture.
Before that for Arsenal though is the small matter of a Premier League showdown with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.
    Arteta’s post-match quotes
The Arsenal boss was particularly happy with his team’s attacking quality tonight.
In the final third we looked really dangerous. When we got into those positions we were a threat. Mikel ArtetaBT Sport
    Marquinhos flatters to deceive
Marquinhos was possibly the only Arsenal player who failed to impress his manager tonight.
The Brazilian struggled to impose himself on the game and was substituted by Arteta early in the second half.
Marquinhos will likely get another opportunity next week when Arsenal travel to Norway to face tonight’s opponents in the return fixture.

    Nketiah post-match reaction
Eddie Nketiah has two goals in two Europa League games tonight but he is clearly looking for more game time in the future.
It’s nice to get two wins and go top. Hopefully I can keep scoring and keep pushing for minutes. Eddie NketiahBT Sport
    Arsenal take top spot
Tonight’s victory has lifted Arsenal to top spot in Group A.
The Gunners sit two points above Bodo/Glimt and PSV with a game in hand.
If they win the next game then their safe passage to the knockout rounds will almost be a formality.
    Perfect night for the Gunners
It’s the dream scenario for any manager: give most of your star players a rest and have the rest of the squad step up in their absence.
If Arsenal are to maintain their fast start to the season they will need the whole squad to contribute.
Arteta will certainly be going to bed a happy man tonight.

    Full-Time: Arsenal 3-0 Bodo/Glimt
    And that’s it!
Arsenal maintain their momentum and register yet another victory.
Arteta did have to call on some of his stars in the second half to ensure that the team didn’t drop it’s level but all’s well that ends well.
Bodo/Glimt were second best for large parts of the game and just didn’t have enough quality at the top end of the pitch in the end.
Stay with us for all the post-match reaction!
    Arsenal 3-0 Bodo/Glimt
90, It’s actually Bodo/Glimt who almost get a consolation goal!
Turner does well to deny Solbakken at the near post to preserve his clean sheet.

    Arsenal 3-0 Bodo/Glimt

    Goal! Arsenal 3-0 Bodo/Glimt (Vieira)
84, Vieira gets the goal but this one is all down to Gabriel Jesus.
First Jesus drops a shoulder to turn away from his marker on the left wing, then he beats another defender in the box before rolling the ball across for Fabio Vieira to finish.
That was a goal dripping with quality.
    Arsenal 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
82, Arteta makes his final change of the night as Eddie Nketiah is replaced by his fellow academy graduate, Reiss Nelson.
There’s a player who could do with a goal to boost his confidence and kickstart his career.
    Arsenal 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
    79, Nketiah misses a one-on-one!
He is played in behind by a wonderfully weighted through ball by Martin Odegaard but Nketiah leans back as he strikes the ball and blazes his effort over the bar.
    Arsenal 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
78, Tomiyasu has moved across to left back since Ben White’s introduction.
The England defender has taken up his usual position on the right side of the back four.
    Arsenal 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
76, The Bodo/Glimt fans in the corner of the ground seem determined to enjoy their trip to London.
They haven’t stopped singing since the game kicked off an hour and a half ago.

73, Kjetil Knutsen is making two changes to his side as Ola Solbakken and Albert Gronbaek are introduced in place of Joel Mvuka and Hugo Vetlesen.
    Arsenal 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
72, Bodo/Glimt create another opening but just can’t find the bit of quality that could get them back into this game.
    Arsenal 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
69, Arteta has called Ben White back from his warm-up on the touchline and the defender comes on to make his debut in European club football.
Kieran Tierney is the player to make way.
    Arsenal 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
66, Bodo/Glimt’s number 10, Hugo Vetlesen has been impressive in this second half.
He seems happy to receive the ball under pressure but hasn’t yet been able to get his final pass quite right.

    Arsenal 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
63, Arteta’s substitutions seem to have done the trick.
Arsenal have noticeably improved in possession since he changed things.
    Arsenal 2-0 Bodo/Glimt

    Arsenal 2-0 Bodo/Glimt
56, Arsenal are really struggling to keep hold of the ball at the moment as Bodo/Glimt pen them back inside their own half.
The Home crowd are getting a little bit restless.

He is not happy that he wasn’t playing on Sunday, don’t get me wrong. But that wasn’t the question. The question was what he is like on the training pitch and what his mood is around the team. He is happy. But of course, he wants to play and he is p****d off when he is not playing, clearly.Erik ten HagMan Utd
    Cypriots with big challenge ahead
After back-to-back defeats against Sheriff Tiraspol and Real Sociedad, Omonia are at risk of an early European exit.

Coach reflects on what is needed
Erik ten Hag spoke about whether Sunday’s result against Man City was a ‘reality check’ for his side:
No. I know when you are in a process, it will not go only your way. You will have setbacks, and we beat the number one in the league [Arsenal], we beat Liverpool. On Sunday, we had a bad day at the office and we got beat. And in this moment, on that day, City were better. We have to accept that. But what we can’t accept is our performance. That was unacceptable.Erik ten HagMan Utd
    Old foe looks for upset
Omonia Nicosia are managed by ex-Celtic manager Neil Lennon.
Lennon locked horns as a player with Man Utd in the UEFA Champions League during his time at Celtic.
He will be hoping to upset the odds with his new team who have not won a single game against English opposition in four attempts.
Hard one to watch for Ronnie
Cristiano Ronaldo was forced to watch his side’s heavy defeat against neighbours Man City at the weekend.
Erik ten Hag said he left the five time Ballon D’Or winner on the bench out of ‘respect’.
The Portuguese forward wants game time and will be keen to play the full game this evening.
Welcome to Omonia vs Man Utd
Man Utd travel to Cyprus to take on Omonia Nicosia looking to bounce back from their weekend defeat in the Manchester derby.
The Red Devils have taken three points from their opening two games and sit second in Group E, while their Cypriot hosts are rock bottom without a single point to their name.
Omonio lost former Reims midfielder Moreto Cassama after 13 mins against Sociedad and having missed the weekend’s triumph over Doxa, the 24-year-old is a major doubt tonight.
Hector Yuste was another casualty of Omonio’s most recent European game but was fit enough for the bench on the weekend and Lennon otherwise has no fresh concerns to report ahead of this game.
Having come off the bench to make an impact last time out, Roman Bezus will push to displace Fotis Papoulis in the number 10 role.
As for Man Utd, Raphael Varane was forced off with a knock at The Etihad after 40 mins and while the injury is not considered serious, he has not travelled with the squad to Cyprus.
Harry Maguire will also take a little longer to battle back from a hamstring strain, while Donny van de Beek and Aaron Wan Bissaka are also absent, but Martin Dubravka has recovered from a muscular problem.

Conor Benn vs Chris Eubank Jr LIVE UPDATES: Hearn vows fight ON despite drugs test as Luxembourg could SANCTION fight

BOXERS Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn are adamant their fight is still on for Saturday night. This is despite the British Boxing board of Control ‘prohibiting’ the fight after Benn’s ‘adverse’ drugs test.
Benn’s promoter Eddie Hearn revealed that he is challenging the decision plus the Luxembourg Boxing Federation could step in and sanction the fight.
Both fighters still went out for their public work-outs following the news and believe the fight will go ahead as they prepare for a press conference later today.
We’ll be bringing you all of the latest updates as they unfold here.

    Weight for it
According to reports, Chris Eubank Jr’s weight could be revised.
He is at a career weight low for the bout with his father stressing it is unsafe.
Perhaps their will be a compromise for his safety and for the Conor Benn’s positive test.

    “Very much on”
The bout between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn is still “very much on” claim the Daily Mail.
Despite the 26-year-old testing positive for a fertility drug both parties seem to want the fight to go ahead.
Apparently the O2 Arena has been told to expect the fight to still be on.
    Press Conference delayed
Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn’s press conference was scheduled for 1pm.
However it has been pushed back until 4pm.
It means the pair are still set to meet today.
    The Statement
A reminder of what was said in the statement released by the the British Boxing Board of Control.
It read: “On the evening of 4th October 2022, the Board of the British Boxing Board of Control Limited resolved that the contest between Chris Eubank Jnr. and Conor Benn scheduled to take place on 8th October 2022 is prohibited as it is not in the interests of Boxing.
“That was communicated to the Boxers and Promoters involved on the morning of 5th October 2022.”
Paul wants Fury bout – Exclusive
Away from the Benn-Eubank Jr fight, Jake Paul has confirmed he is ready to fight Tommy Fury next and in the UK – but warned it is his rival’s third and final chance.
The celebrity boxers have TWICE signed for a grudge match but both times Fury was withdrawn.
An injured rib last December and US visa issues this August saw the 2019 Love Islander pulled out of the pay-per-view paydays.
Paul told SunSport: “This is his last chance, last chance for Tommy.
“And I’m still not sure if we’ll really run that, it’s just an idea, our teams are talking. But there might be bigger fights.
“When I beat Anderson Silva, a lot more people are going to want to fight me, so there might be bigger names out there and more interesting opportunities.
“It could happen and if it does I’m happy to come to the UK.”

    Hearn labelled hypocrite
Conor Benn’s promoter Eddie Hearn has been labelled a hypocrite by fans regarding his stance after the positive drugs test.
Hearn is looking for ways to get the fight on but a video has emerged of him talking about when Billy Joe Saunders pulled out of his fight with Demetrius Andrade in 2018.
In the clip he says to ignore a drugs test results would be a “mockery”.
“What is the point in signing up for drug testing if, when you fail, everyone just goes, ‘Oh don’t worry about, just let him fight’, you know?”
“The argument of ‘well it’s alright with UKAD’ is totally irrelevant, you’ve signed for drug testing with VADA – the best testing agency, in my opinion, in the sport.
“I really I wanted this fight to happen, but he failed a VADA test. You can’t ignore it, otherwise the sport’s a mockery.”
    Luxembourg key?
With the British Boxing Board of Control prohibiting the fight, both will now look for loopholes in the rules to get the fight to still go ahead.
Looking at what David Haye and Derek Chisora did back in 2012, they had their fight licensed by the the Luxembourg Boxing Federation.
Neither of those fighters held a British boxing license at the time but European federations can still give fights the green light if they choose to.
Could we see Benn and Eubank head to Europe for a license but still fight in the UK?
    The Test – explained
Is the fight on or off? At this point there is no confirmation either way.
Their is confusion because Benn was positive on a test from VADA.
But the British Boxing Board of Control is governed by UKAD.
According to Hearn, Benn has tested negative when examined by UKAD that included a test after the positive one held by VADA.
    Press Conference on
Promoters Eddie Hearn and Kalle Sauerland seem to still want the fight to go ahead with Hearn saying the matter is with the lawyers for both parties.
The press conference with Eubank and Benn is scheduled for 1pm today and is set to go ahead.
Reports suggest both fighters and their teams have been aware of Benn’s positive drugs test since 23 September.
    Fight On?
According to the Daily Mail, the fight between Conor Been and Chris Eubank Jr may still go ahead.
The pair are set to meet in a press conference later today with both parties still preparing to get in the ring on Saturday night.
This comes despite the British Boxing Board of Control prohibiting the bout.
    Benn latest
After Conor Benn tested positive for performance enhancing drugs the boxing board want the fight off.
However, his promoter Eddie Hearn is battling for the fight to go on.
We will have all the latest on the bout coming your way through the day.
    Liam Williams steps up
Liam Williams, who Chris Eubank Jr defeated in February, has offered up his services for Saturday night’s main event.
Williams tweeted: “If @ChrisEubankJr needs someone to fight I’ll happily get it done again. Home from holidays Friday morning ready to make weight and go Saturday.”

    Thanks for joining us!
In the end this game was exactly as everyone expected it to be, but that’s not to say that it wasn’t still exciting.
How can you not enjoy watching a player like Erling Haaland when they are in such a rich vein of form.
As soon as Haaland opened the scoring in the seventh minute of the match you knew it was going to be a long night for FC Copenhagen.
The good news for the Danish side is that they escaped from tonight’s game without the score line getting too embarrassing. The bad news is that they play Manchester City again in six days time…
First though, Pep Guardiola’s team host Southampton at the Etihad in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Before I go I’ll leave you with this stat: Erling Haaland has now scored more Champions League goals than Luis Suarez managed in his whole career. It has taken Haaland just 22 games to do so.
    Haaland the missing piece?
City’s struggles in the Champions League are well-documented but could Erling Haaland be the man to finally deliver the trophy that the club crave most?
Haaland’s second goal tonight was indicative of why City signed him in the summer.
Guardiola has had plenty of success playing without a recognised forward but would any other City player have had the instinct to be in the right place at the right time to score that goal tonight?
    City’s perfect record
Pep Guardiola’s side have won all three of their Champions League games this season.
Dortmund registered an impressive 4-1 victory away at Sevilla this evening and are just three poijts behind manchester City.
Guardiola’s team will need to continue to stack up the wins if they are to finish top of the group and earn themselves a favourable draw in the knockout rounds.
    Grealish post-match reaction
Jack Grealish has been giving his thoughts on the game after another stellar performance from him on a personal level.
I’m loving it! I feel back to myself playing with that sort of freedom. Jack GrealishBT Sport
    City’s next generation
Pep Guardiola gave Champions League minutes to a trio of City academy graduates tonight and they all slotted in seamlessly.
Cole Palmer in particular looked extremely bright and it makes you wonder if he deserves more game time in the future.

    Erling Haaland
It’s tough to find new ways of describing Erling Haaland.
Do we call him a ‘machine’? Or a ‘monster’?
Whatever you want to call him, he has arrived in England as a fully-formed superstar and he is leaving a trail of goal scoring records in his wake.
    Another dominant display
City are in frightetning forma t the moment and are more than a match for any side in world football.
This game came at a bad time for a Copenhagen side that is struggling to find its feet this season.
It’s Erling Haaland who will be on all the back pages again tonight and you start to wonder who is going to be able to stop him scoring.
Stay with us for all the post-match reaction!
Full-Time! Manchester City 5-0 FC Copenhagen
90, The referee takes pity on FC Copenhagen and blows the final whistle without playing a minute of injury time.
Another win for City thanks to Erling Haaland’s goals.
    Manchester City 5-0 FC Copenhagen
90, We are heading into added time at the end of the second half here.
Can City find time for one more goal?
    Manchester City 5-0 FC Copenhagen
87, I’m sure it will come as a surprise to you to learn that City are currently dominating possession.
Copenhagen are half-heartedly attempting to nick the ball off them as the players pray for the full-time whistle.
This result is nothing to be ashamed of for the reigning Danish champions but City have just been at a different level tonight.
    Manchester City 5-0 FC Copenhagen
    83, Deja vu for Grealish!
The City attacker attempts to guide Mahrez’ cross beyond the goalkeeper with the inside of his right foot, but again he rolls the ball just wide of the far post.
    Manchester City 5-0 FC Copenhagen
    78, So close from Grealish!
Grealish has been very good tonight and almost gets the goal that his performance deserves but his shot flies just wide of the far post.
Goal! Manchester City 5-0 FC Copenhagen (Alvarez)
76, Alvarez scores his first Champions league goal!
Alvarez taps in from about a yard after great work from Grealish and Mahrez in the build-up.
Grealish drove forward with the ball from midfield before giving it to Mahrez who beat his man and passed to Alvarez who couldn’t miss.

    Manchester City 4-0 FC Copenhagen
74, It seemed for a moment as though Copenhagen were about to score a consolation, but Rico Lewis just manages to get back in time to deflect Mukairu’s shot out for a corner.
    The 17-year-old did well there.
    Manchester City 4-0 FC Copenhagen
    70, Alvarez hits the post!
Grealish plays a clever through ball behind the Copenhagen defence for Alvarez, but the Argentinian can’t squeeze the ball in from a tight angle as he hits the outside of the post.
    Manchester City 4-0 FC Copenhagen
70, Neither side has managed to carve out a sight of goal in the last few minutes.
FC Copenhagen have had just one touch in the Manchester City penalty area tonight.
    One-way traffic.
    Manchester City 4-0 FC Copenhagen
66, Guardiola hands out another Champions league debut.
This time it is Josh Wilson-Esbrand who is the grateful recipient.
Bernardo Silva is the player to be replaced by the academy graduate.
    Manchester City 4-0 FC Copenhagen
66, It’s a double change for Copenhagen as Diks and Claesson are replaced by Ankersen and Mukairu.
    Manchester City 4-0 FC Copenhagen
65, The rain is teeming down in Manchester now.
Copenhagen will be delighted to see Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden jog off down the touchline to warm up…
    Manchester City 4-0 FC Copenhagen
62, The intensity has come out of City’s play since that fourth goal.
Both teams would be happy if the referee called full-time now.
    Manchester City 4-0 FC Copenhagen
57, Pep Guardiola hands a Champions League debut to 17-year-old Rico Lewis as Cancelo makes way.
The England under-19 international takes his place at right-back.
Goal! Manchester City 4-0 FC Copenhagen (Mahrez)
55, Mahrez makes no mistake form the spot as he sends the goalkeeper the wrong way.
This is getting ugly for Copenhagen now.

Penalty! Manchester City 3-0 FC Copenhagen
53, The referee points to the spot after Stemenic hauls down Laporte at the back post.
Stemenic is booked and it’s Mahrez who steps up…
    Manchester City 3-0 FC Copenhagen
51, Grabara is going to be man of the match tonight!
Another magnificent save, this time from Palmer who looks keen to make the most of his opportunity.
    Manchester City 3-0 FC Copenhagen
49, If the Copenhagen defenders thought they couold take it easy now that Palmer is on then they are very much mistaken.
The City youngster has danced past Copenhagen defenders on two occasions already.

Chelsea 3-0 AC Milan LIVE REACTION: Potter claims first Champions League win but Fofana DEALT injury blow after opener

CHELSEA came out 3-0 victors against AC Milan at Stamford Bridge in what was a must-win game for Graham Potter’s side. The Blues started brilliantly, with Wesley Fofana netting his first goal for the club on his Champions League debut.
However, he went from high to low as just moments later the defender picked up what looked to be a knee injury as he was taken off.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled the Blues’ lead in the second-half, scoring from a Reece James cross before the wing-back himself sealed the three points with a powerful finish to give Potter his first European victory.
    That’s all from us…
That is all for SunSport’s coverage of Chelsea 3-0 AC Milan.
It was a great game, which had it all, including a spectacular Reece James performance, a Thiago Silva masterclass, and Wesley Fofana’s first goal in Chelsea blue.
That win sees Chelsea go to 2nd in the group, one point behind Salzburg, who got the better of Dinamo Zagreb in Austria.
These two sides will meet again next Tuesday, so join us again for coverage of that one, which is set to be a much tastier affair at the San Siro.
Thank you as always for reading, we hope you enjoyed, and have a great night.
    Silva is timeless.
A legend of both Chelsea and AC Milan, Thiago Silva has had a simply sensational career, and shows no signs of letting up any time soon.
    He was excellent again today.
A big challenge in the first half got the Chelsea fans to spring into life, before he won three headers in a row, the final of which saw Wesley Fofana get his first Chelsea goal after a scuffle in the box.
He truly is a legend of the game, and should be regarded up there with the finest of all time.
    Unfortunate for Fofana…
It was a night of mixed emotions for Wesley Fofana.
He started the night brilliantly, with a fine tackle on Rafael Leao, before he rolled the ball into the bottom right hand corner to give Chelsea a 1-0 lead.
Unfortunately, shortly after that, Fofana was dragged down by Leao on the halfway line, and landed awkwardly on his ankle that saw him briefly play on before going off injured.
Hopefully he has a speedy recovery, so that he can continue his positive start at the back for The Blues.

They looked disorganised at the back, and toothless in attack.
They were awful from set pieces, and only looked dangerous when going forwards with Leao on the ball, who was substituted in the second half.
