    Highs and lows of football
Earlier in the season many Tottenham fans were calling for manager Antonio Conte to drop Son Heung-Min due to his poor form.
The Italian manager stuck by his man and the South Korean has duly delivered by getting back to somewhere near the form we have come to expect.
He scored a brace against Frankfurt in the Champions League in midweek to seal the North London side’s 3-2 victory.

Conte making his house a home
Spurs have won seven successive Premier League home games, their best run since a 14-match streak between November 2016 and May 2017.
Tottenham have a perfect home record in the 2022/23 season with a sixth win from as many matches.
The Italian manager will be wary against Everton but will feel his side can continue their fantastic form at home.

    Boss focussed on game ahead
Tottenham boss Antonio Conte spoke about this evening’s opponents Everton:
Everton is a really good team with a really good manager, Frank Lampard is showing to be a really good manager. He had a really good experience with Chelsea and now he’s working well at Everton. They’re showing great stability, especially defensively. We played only two days ago and we lost a lot of mental energy because the Champions League is a fantastic competition to play but you lose a lot of energy in this competition. I think we are ready to play a good game. Antonio ConteTottenham
    London tourists forever lost
Everton have lost 84 Premier League away games to London sides, a joint high with Newcastle.
The Toffees are winless in seven league visits to the capital since beating West Ham 1-0 in May 2021 (D2, L5).
Everton haven’t won away at Spurs since 2008.
    Overcoming the demons
Spurs survived a scare in midweek, managing to secure a 3-2 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Antonio Conte admitted his side learned a ‘big lesson’ against 1—man Frankfurt after coming from behind to take a 3-1 lead before a late goal from the visitors made for a very nervy finish.
Son Heung Min grabbed a brace as he returns to form after Harry Kane had equalised for Tottenham.
    Welcome to Tottenham vs Everton
Tottenham welcome Frank Lampard’s Everton to North London this evening with Antonio Conte’s side looking to make it three wins in a row in all competitions.
Antonio Conte has said he will not risk playing Dejan Kulusevski this weekend as the 22-year-old continues his rehabilitation from injury.
Lucas Moura was fit enough for a substitute appearance midweek and Conte could also have Japhet Tanganga back from a knock.
With Emerson Royal still suspended, Matt Doherty can expect to make it back-to-back starts.
Evan Perisic is exptected to start on the left ahead of Ryan Sessegnon.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin made a 14-minute cameo against Man Utd but Lampard has not hinted whether the striker is fit enough to start after a knee injury.
Ben Godfrey, Andros Townsend and Nathan Patterson all remain on the side-lines with Yerry Mina and Mason Holgate also needing a little longer to recover.
Anthony Gordon serves a suspension after picking up five yellow cards.
Abdoulaye Doucoure will be available to feature despite a family issue.
Dwight McNeil can expect a return to the starting line-up with the suspension of Gordon.
Ex-Toffee Richarlison will be keen to start today and to score against his former club.

Fulham 2 Bournemouth 2: Mitrovic salvages point for hosts as O’Neil continues six-game unbeaten run with Cherries

IT is hard to ignore Gary O’Neil now.His management at Bournemouth is just six games old and they are all unbeaten.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City juggernauts, who play Liverpool tomorrow, are the only other club who have not lost in their last six Premier League matches.
Dominic Solanke got them on their way with the fastest top-flight goal of the season on one minute and three seconds.
Ex-West Ham Issa Diop, on his first home start, headed home the leveller for his first Prem goal in 18 months before it was cancelled out by Jefferson Lerma.
But lethal Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic, back from injury, threatened to rain on the Cherries’ redhot parade as he made it 2-2 from the penalty spot.

It is time to put some respect on Bournemouth’s name who are still being tipped by the bookies as favourites to go down.
They are sitting pretty in the top half of the table in ninth on 12 points, although Fulham are snapping at their heels in tenth and one point behind.
Caretaker boss O’Neill also made a serious case for his permanent appointment.
A point was a major boost to the Cottagers who needed to save their stuttering Prem form after suffering back-to-back defeats for the first time this term.

Mito who missed the defeat at West Ham last Sunday with a foot injury was back starting.
The Serb may have grabbed all the headlines before kick off but it was Solanke who stole the show with a dream start.
Marcus Tavernier swung a pass to the striker who silkily played a one-two with Philip Billing before slotting home just over a minute in while Fulham shirked their defensive duties.
Fulham hit back strongly though with a flurry of chances from Dan James, Andreas Pereira, Neeskens Kebano and Joao Palinha.
The hosts were building – they just needed another sniff at goal, but no one expected it to arrive from Diop who was starting in place of stalwart Tosin Adarabioya.
The leveller began with Pereira’s inch-perfect corner which found Diop who nodded beyond Neto on 22 minutes with his first Prem goal in 18 months.
Tempers flared when ex-Fulham Ryan Fredericks twisted the knife into his old pal Tim Ream with a blatant dive in the box before he was booked.

Cue a cacophony of boos and chants of “cheat” from fans in the Johnny Haynes stand – who used to have a prime view of his twinkle toes gliding up the right-flank in a Fulham shirt.
The hosts lost their focus and it was all too easy again for Bournemouth to get back in the driving seat just seven minutes later.
After another blistering Bournemouth counterattack Solanke waltzed into the box unmarked and teed up Lerma had the freedom to rifle home.
The heroics of Bernd Leno denied the Cherries a third before the break as he sprung to keep out an initial close-range shot from Lerma and then Adam Smith’s follow up.
But Fulham were back in it all thanks to talisman Mitro who was brought down by Lerma and after a Pereira free-kick with referee Graham Scott instantly pointing to the spot.
Mitrovic stepped up and lashed in the ice-cool equaliser on 52 minutes for his seventh goal of the season.

Tom Cairney, absolutely bossed it after entering the fray for Harrison Reed at half-time, and stung Neto with a rasping shot.
A Willian free-kick fell to Mitro who nearly helped seal it with an audacious mid-air backheel which fell to Harry Wilson – but Neto did well to mop up the damage.

Leicester 0 Crystal Palace 0: Foxes struggles continue in drab goalless draw as Maddison dive sees him earn suspension

BY the end even James Maddison was making things worse.Leicester’s main man this season looks like their only way out of this nightmare, but even he resorted to a dive at the end which means they won’t even have him next time out.

The playmaker, desperately trying to drag Leicester off the bottom of the table and impress England boss Gareth Southgate in the stands, threw himself to the floor in the final minutes – receiving only a yellow and a suspension for Thursday’s game against Leeds United.
With time already running out to turn things around and get himself into the England squad – Maddison has blown a huge chance on both fronts.
Brendan Rodgers is hanging by a thread and will now be without the only player who looks capable of saving his job.
Rodgers insisted this week that he is excited by the daunting challenge of lifting Leicester City out of their slump.

On the evidence of this drab affair against a lacklustre Crystal Palace, few at the King Power share their manager’s enthusiasm to see him take on that task.
The Foxes are rock bottom with just one win all season.
But most worrying might be that Rodgers faced hardly any toxic fans here. It was their alarming lack of interest that felt more unsettling than any loud cries for the axe to fall.
The hosts were without veteran defender Jonny Evans, missing through a calf problem picked up during the defeat at Bournemouth last week.

Daniel Amartey came into a back line which, having struggled all season, kept Wilfried Zaha and Palace impressively quiet.
But that was about all there was to be impressed by.
With a flat and increasingly frustrated fanbase watching on, Leicester and their visitors both struggled to even string a pass together over the opening 45 minutes.
Harvey Barnes tried to shake Leicester awake early on.
The winger drove into the Palace penalty area and exchanged a smart and swift one-two with Patson Daka, before being clattered by Eagles keeper Vicente Guaita.
Moments later, Marc Guehi had to move quickly to throw himself in front of Barnes as he lined up a shot from six yards out.
Barnes had threatened to spark the game into life and soon Guaita was having to palm away a powerful drive from Daka – but that was as good as it got for the hosts before the break.
Guaita kept the Eagles in it and they should have gone ahead at the other end when Guehi was left unmarked at the far post but could only head Eberechi Eze’s free-kick over the bar.
Come half-time, even the boos from the home end were half-baked.
There was a brief rally from the Foxes after the break, Barnes making it to the touchline before cutting back for Maddison, who could only skew his effort high and wide.
No one around Maddison is matching his work rate when it comes to trying to revive this squad.
James Justin sent a dipping effort over the bar from range before Maddison again had a pop, dragging a low shot wide after a driving run.
Clear cut chances were in short supply, with Boubakary Soumare even letting loose with one effort which ran out of steam before it could cross the line for a goal kick.
Rodgers turned to Jamie Vardy to try and bring the good times back to the King Power.

But the 35-year-old, still without a goal this season, could only manage a yellow card for a frustrated challenge on Guehi.
Palace too had struggled to get going themselves, but if anyone was going to spark them into life it looked like being Eze.
The former QPR man collected a pass from Edouard and fired it quickly back, the French striker then drawing a fine diving save from Danny Ward to tip the ball behind for a corner.
Not even Zaha, Palace’s talisman in a fine vein of form, could get things moving and he was hooked – much to his frustration – with 15 minutes remaining.
Leicester pushed for a late winner into four minutes of added time but Maddison had to resort to throwing himself to the floor under pressure from Luka Milovojevic.
Up went the cry for a penalty before the referee, Andy Madley, quickly booked him for simulation.
Speaking after the game, Rodgers was asked about Maddison being suspended for their next match.
To which he replied: “I think it is a frustration for him more than anyone because he wants to help the team and support the team.
“When you miss a player of that level, of course in the position we’re in we could do without it. But it is what it is.
“He is one of the most talented and creative players in the League.
“It is a shame but someone has to come in and do a job.
“You can’t judge him just on this game.
“I thought he had a good game, I thought he was really creative for us. He is a guy who is playing out of position for the team.
“His cleverness and brightness has still allowed us to be creative. He is a top player at this level.”

A second clean sheet of the season for the worst defence in the Prem will be a silver lining for Rodgers, but after the false dawn of their solitary win over Nottingham Forest this hardly felt like a corner being turned.
And the fans felt the same. Boos rang around at the final whistle with small pockets calling to see the back of their manager.
