What TV channel is it on and can it be live streamed?

Tottenham vs AC Milan will be broadcast LIVE on BT Sport 1 in the UK.
Coverage is set to commence from 7pm UK time – a whole hour before kick-off.
Subscription members of BT Sport can stream the entire action live via the BT Sport website or BT Sport app.
Alternatively, SunSport’s live blog will have minute-by-minute coverage of the match.

    That’s a wrap
That’s all we’ve got time for tonight.
It’ll be another trophyless season for Tottenham, and perhaps Harry Kane’s last.
But the captain will be desperate to regroup and help the team chase down a top four finish.
Antonio Conte also seems more likely to head for the exit door than not, however fans won’t be quite so worried about him leaving as their skipper.
Much better and more incisive performances are needed between now and May if Spurs are to have a prayer of playing in this competition next season.
    Maur to come
As Conte arrives to speak to the press, the Spurs fans already know who they’d rather have in charge.
The name ‘Mauricio Pochettino’ rings around outside as the stadium as the supporters head off into the night.

    The final straw?
As bad as the performance was, there was one moment that enraged the fans more than all others.
That was when Conte took Kulusevski off for centre-back Davinson Sanchez with the team needing a goal.
One tweeted: “Bringing on Sanchez for Kulusevski on 83 minutes just seemed a cheap jibe at the club and the fans. I’d be very surprised if Levy wasn’t on the phone to Pochettino right now.”
Another wrote: “When we needed a goal, just one goal #Conte decided to substitute Sanchez on for Kulusevski, we had Moura and Danjuma left on the bench……..
“Despite the performance, we still had a chance in that game, and I don’t see how he can possible justify that change.”
And another stated: “Sanchez for Kulusevski is definitely Conte’s Bergwijn for Moura moment. Can’t get my head around it”
The Spurs team are still locked in the dressing room
    Rom com
Spurs legend Glenn Hoddlewas left fuming by Cristian Romero’s red card.
The ex-England boss said: “I’ve seen it so many times before. It’s almost ‘when’ it’s going to happen rather than ‘if’.”
    Feeling the Blues
If nothing else, Spurs at least kept Olivier Giroud quiet.
But another ex-Chelsea star picked up the Man of the Match award.
Centre-back Fikayo Tomori put in an imperious display and never looked troubled by anything Kane and co threw at him.

    Dressing down
Spurs remain locked in the dressing room after a completely underwhelming performance.
We should hopefully hear from Antonio Conte or one of the players soon.
    Con artist?
A performance of virtually zero positives from Antonio Conte’s men.
No semblance of the high energy style that has made Spurs a success – first under Pochettino, then under Conte.
They were slow and ponderous in possession. No player took the initiative as the shackles remained firmly on.
Shots from the edge of the box seemed to be a big no-no as the team opted for the predictable overlap down the wing time and time again.
Son Heung-min, normally so good at running in behind, kept coming short into the middle where he was completely ineffective.
Harry Kane might have headed home a goal in stoppage time with Spurs only real chance, but it wouldn’t have been deserved.
    Fandemonium
A few obscenities launched from a group of Spurs fans towards some very happy Italian journalists near me.
“What are you celebrating? You lot were s*** too,” said one.
It summed up the mood around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium pretty well.
    Kane-d
A fed up-looking Harry Kane is quickly down the tunnel.
Will this be the last time we see him play Champions League football for Tottenham?
Contrast that to the delighted Olivier Giroud who throws his shirt into the away end after coming out on the winning side against the England captain once again.
FULL TIME: Tottenham 0 AC Milan 0 (agg 0-1)
Tottenham are out of the Champions League.
    Boos ring around the stadium.
AC Milan qualify and far more comfortably than the scoreline suggests.
    90: Tottenham 0 AC Milan 0
Harry Kane almost works miracles again but sees his header brilliantly saved.
Down the other end, Origi hits the post on the break for Milan.
    90: Tottenham 0 AC Milan 0
There will be six minutes of time added on!
    88: Tottenham 0 AC Milan 0
    Substitution for AC Milan.
    Ante Rebic replaces Rafael Leao.
    84: Tottenham 0 AC Milan 0
An early impact from Sanchez as he goes down in the box under a challenge from Theo Hernandez.
But the referee isn’t interested in giving a penalty and neither is VAR.
    82: Tottenham 0 AC Milan 0
    Davinson Sanchez replaces Kulusevski.
The loudest boos of the night from the Spurs support greet the substitution.
    79: Tottenham 0 AC Milan 0
A frustrated Harry Kane rugby tackles the AC Milan right-back.
It’s been that kind of night.
A surprising sub for AC Milan as livewire Brahim Diaz is replaced by midfielder Bennacer.
Giroud is also off to loud boos, with fellow former Spurs tormentor Divock Origi on in his place.
    76: Tottenham 0 AC Milan 0
Theo Hernandez bravely gets his head on the ball as Cristian Romero completely misjudges it, flies in and takes the Frenchman out.
The Argentine then screams as he goes down.
At first it looked like he might be out to avoid the dismissal, but it seems like he could actually be hurt.
    TOTTENHAM RED CARD!
Cristian Romero picks up a second booking.
    74: Tottenham 0 AC Milan 0
Son Heung-min’s corner goes wide of the goal.
    Sums up his night.
    70: Tottenham 0 AC Milan 0
The red, black and white handkerchiefs are out as AC Milan fans belt out their version of the Argentina ‘Muchachos’ song.
And they were almost celebrating a goal as Rafael Leao rolled Romero before firing over the bar.
    69: Tottenham 0 AC Milan 0
    Substitution for Spurs.
Antonio Conte decides it’s time to roll the dice as Emerson Royal is replaced by Richarlison.
    67: Tottenham 0 AC Milan 0
The game is opening up now.
A cross comes in from Spurs and it’s great athleticism from Harry Kane who gets his nose almost to the ground to head the ball agonisingly wide.
    66: Tottenham 0 AC Milan 0
A combination of Rafael Leao and Brahim Diaz bundles the ball towards goal.,
It drops to Olivier Giroud in what looks like it could be the moment the home crowd dreads.
However the striker fires straight at Forster.
    63: Tottenham 0 AC Milan 0
A bit better from Spurs as Son tries to take the initiative.
The ball deflects to Hojbjerg who takes a long time to get the shot away before firing at Maignan to tip over.
The Dane tries to gestures to the crowd to turn up the volume before the resulting corner is put wide off Harry Kane’s shoulder.

    Nagelsmann tactical masterclass wins through
Knowing they had a one goal lead from the first leg, Julian Nagelsmann set his side out brilliantly today.
The first half tactics of being rough but fair in their challenges on Lionel Messi and giving him no time on the ball at all, really cut off the supply for Kylian Mbappe with Neymar absent.
When the opportunity presented itself, they came forward, looking to get that sucker-punch to really hurt the visitors.
Into the second half, where PSG had to through caution to wind more, Bayern picked them off and scored two goals to top off as very comfortable victory over the two legs.
Bayern Munich the team to avoid
When Julian Nagelsmann made his substitutions this evening, it really underpinned the depth of quality in this Bayern squad.
Bringing on the likes of Leroy Sane, Serge Gnabry and Sadio Mane from the bench is the sort of dilemma a team like PSG would now dream of.
The balance of power shifted this evening and it will take more than just changing the manager for something to change with the Paris outfit.
Constantly left wanting on the biggest stage, it is a case of déjà vu for the French.

    French class prevents PSG progressing
Of all the players to prevent the visitors having a sniff of goal tonight, Dayot Upamecano put in a stellar performance.
Kylian Mbappe looked lively in the opening stages of the game but from that moment onwards the young French defender bossed him.

FT: Bayern Munich 2-0 PSG (Agg: 3-0)
It was a professional performance from the Germans this evening.
They had the cushion of a goal lead from the first leg and managed the game well before getting the goal to put it beyond the visitors.
Serge Gnabry’s goal was just icing on top of the cake at the end.

FT: Bayern Munich 2-0 PSG (Agg: 3-0)
The referee brings the game to a close to a huge roar from the home fans who are in party mode now.
Bayern Munich are through to the quarter-finals.
A deserved victory for Julian Nagelsmann’s side.
    Bayern Munich 2-0 PSG
90+4. All the wind has certainly been knocked out of PSG’s sails now.
It is one-way traffic here as Mane slots the ball home.
Immediately the flag goes up for offside and the replay shows Sadio Mane was just a fraction offside.
    Bayern Munich 2-0 PSG
90+2. Bayern work the ball for once again.
Davies gets a shot away but Donnarumma does well to save with his legs.
This is turning into a very comfortable victory for the hosts.

    Bayern Munich 2-0 PSG
    90. The goal stands and PSG are heading out.
We are going to have five minutes added on here.
That means nothing now to the visitors.

    VAR checking the goal
Goal – Serge Gnabry (Bayern Munich)
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    88. Zaire-Emery gets away down the left.
He crosses it into the path of Mbappe on the run.
Fantastic tackle by Davies to block the striker’s effort.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    86. Just as it looks like Hakimi is in on goal, Upamecano comes from nowhere to dispossess him.
The young French defender has been immense tonight.
Gnabry comes on for Coman, Cancelo on for Muller.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    84. The corner once again finds Ramos who heads inches wide of the post.
He has had the best chances for PSG in this game tonight, that was a big chance for the visitors.
Bayern are happy to sit deep now and protect their lead.

    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    82. Mbappe wins a corner for the visitors.
Time is starting to run out now.
    Vitinha comes off for Ekitike.
    Mendes comes off for Bernat.
    Musiala comes off for Mane.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    80. Leroy Sane is keeping PSG in this game.
Another quick counter for the hosts, the ball is crossed towards Sane who mis-controls it out for a goal kick.
They should have brought Mane on, this game would be over.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    78. PSG look devoid of creativity.
If you can shutdown Messi and Mbappe you cannot see where the chances are going to be created.
Bayern have dealt well with the Parisian threat this evening.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    76. Zaire-Emery comes on for Ruiz.
Sane has the ball heading towards goal but he dwells on it for too long once again.
PSG are able to get back and get a foot in.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    74. Galtier could be looking for work tomorrow if this result stays like this.
Bayern are looking very comfortable with a two goal lead.
They are starting to stretch PSG on the counter, this time Sane wasting a good opportunity.

    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    72. Messi is having to come looking for the ball more.
It means him dropping into deeper positions.
He struggles to effect the game from these deep areas.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    70. Muller will now slot into the forward position.
Bayern clear the PSG attack and immediately break with numbers.
The final pass is a bit loose and allows the visitors to get a touch to put it behind for a corner.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    68. Mbappe controls the ball just inside the box.
He turns and shoots from a tight angle, forcing Sommer into a save.
Bayern are looking to bring some fresh legs on now.
Choupo-Moting comes off for Leroy Sane.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    66. That was a fantastic save from Sommer to keep PSG out.
Other than Ramos there was nobody attacking the corner from the visitors.
Heads are starting to drop a little now in the Parisians.
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    64. PSG have a mountain to climb now.
They need to find two goals from somewhere.
Mbappe and Messi will need to work some magic here in Germany.
Ramos meets the corner and Sommer pulls off a brilliant save to keep him out.
    Credit: Reuters
    Bayern Munich 1-0 PSG
    62. Marco Verratti will have to take the blame for that one.
He was robbed of the ball on the edge of the box.
Muller unselfishly squared it for Choupo-Moting to side-foot home.

Ten Hag rues lack of discipline
Erik ten Hag blamed United’s “worst” display of the year on poor discipline.
The Red Devils’ manager is angry at his side’s total absence of composure as Liverpool rattled in goals either side of half-time to spark a 7-0 romp.
Ten Hag said: “It was a really bad performance and the worst of the year.
“We lost the game at the end of the first half and at the start of the second but you have to keep your head up and we didn’t.
“It’s all about showing discipline and we didn’t, so that’s when you start conceding goals.
“It’s a really unprofessional performance and unnecessary. You have to do your jobs and we didn’t.”
    Erik vows to bounce back
Erik ten Hag claims United have proved under him they can recover from huge shocks.
Referencing two previous heavy away losses this season, the Red Devils’ boss said: “We have seen in the past we can bounce back.
After Brentford (0-4), after Manchester City (3-6). This is definitely a strong setback and is unacceptable.
“We let the fans down and I’m really disappointed and angry about it.
“It is a reality check… It’s a strong message [that] we get.”
Ten Hag blasts ‘unprofessional’ Red Devils
Erik ten Hag claims his “unprofessional” United side “lost their heads” in the second half of a record 7-0 loss at Liverpool.
The home team went ahead on 43 minutes and dominated once moving 3-0 in front after 50.
Ten Hag said: “Second half it was not us. It was not our standards. We didn’t play as a team.”
He admitted he was surprised” because “I have seen the last weeks and months a team that is resilient and determined with a winning attitude”.
The Dutchman added: “We didn’t stick to the plan, we lose our heads. We didn’t do our jobs.
“We didn’t track back and it was really unprofessional.”
    ‘I’d go into hiding’
Roy Keane reckons he’d have gone into hiding if he’d lost 7-0 to Liverpool in in his United playing days.
The former hardman told Sky Sports: “The big players, the ones we all build up, really let the club down.
“If you ever get beaten by six or seven, you go into hiding for a few days.
“I’d go missing for a few months. I don’t know what to say, I’m in shock.”
You don’t grin anything with kids…
Gary Neville accused fellow Sky Sports pundits Jamie Carragher and Graeme Souness of “gloating like little children” following their old club Liverpool’s 7-0 win over Manchester United.
Cody Gakpo opened the floodgates with his opener on 43 minutes as Nev’s former team collapsed.

But Old Trafford legend  Neville disagreed with Souness and Carragher on whehter it ewas mainly down tio Liverpool brilliance or United ineptitude.
Souness began by referencing his prediction before the game that Liverpool would win comfortably. He then added: “Gary said off-air that you thought Liverpool played badly today.”
Neville replied: “I didn’t say that. I said I thought first half Manchester United were the better team. I think that in the second half it was about Manchester United’s capitulation.”
Souness chimed back with: “So that had nothing to do with Liverpool playing well?”
Before Neville qualified his view, adding: “I don’t think when Jurgen Klopp analyses that game tomorrow – the momentum from that he’ll take – but I don’t think he’ll think ‘we’re back’. I don’t think he’ll fall into that trap. They won’t get carried away off the back of that at all.”
As Souness attempted to come back in, an agitated Neville then said: “Look at them. You’re gloating like little children.”
To which Souness replied: “You can’t come out with a daft remark like ‘Liverpool didn’t play well today’.”
    Fans reckon Mikel predicted 7-0!
Arsenal fans claim manager Mikel Arteta predicted Manchester United’s 7-0 hammering at Liverpool.
The Red Devils were blown away by Jurgen Klopp’s side and it left them 14 points behind the Gunners at the top of the table.
Still buzzing after their 3-2 comeback win over Bournemouth on Saturday, Arsenal fans even joked their boss can predict the future.
Arteta was spotted on the sidelines against the Cherries, holding up seven fingers.

Poking fun at Man Utd, one supporter posted the photo and added the scoreline from Anfeld to the gesture.
Fans found it hilarious, one said: “Arteta is a genius.”
    Another reacted: “Another Arteta masterclass.”
A third commented: “He knew all along.”
Perhaps being able to see into the future is a talent needed at Arsenal, as even director of football Edu has been at it.
When Arteta was under serious pressure two years ago, the former Arsenal midfielder ensured supporters the “future is beautiful” with the Spaniard in charge.
‘Embarrassing day for United’ – Keane
Old Trafford legend Roy Keane labelled United “embarrassing, shocking” after their 7-0 Anfield thumping – but claimed Liverpool are back to their “very, very best”.
Keane believes the Red Devils’ senior players “didn’t show any leadership skills” in adversity after only trailing 1-0 at the break.

And the ex-midfielder told Sky Sports: “Players will no doubt feel ashamed. They went missing in The second half.
“It’s the hardest place to come for a Man Utd player, no matter what form they are in.

“But I have to say Liverpool were absolutely amazing.
“Their energy, decision-making… Liverpool were back to their very, very best.
“But certainly it’s an embarrassing day for United.”
    Bruno slammed for ’embarrassing’ dive
Bruno Fernandes has been slammed for an embarrassing dive in Man Utd’s 7-0 loss at Liverpool.
The Red Devils’ captain fell to the ground clutching his face after feeling contact from Ibrahima Konate.
The Liverpool defender was in control of the ball at the time and had his arm outstretched as he was running, and he appeared to hit Fernandes in the chest.

Fernandes went down as if he was injured despite the minimal contact and it was no surprise when he got back up to his feet moments later.
Fans blasted the Portuguese and labelled his behaviour as “embarrassing”.
One said: “Bruno Fernandes is the biggest crybaby in the Premier League. How can you dive and then get mad at the referee for not giving a pen?”
Another added: “Bruno Fernandes is a clown. The dive there deserved an Oscar.”
A third said: “Bruno Fernandes is the most embarrassing player in the league. Clear and obvious dive 😂 Gets a hand on his chest and goes down clutching his face.”

    Reds hail ‘Egyptian king’
Mo Salah’s double made him Liverpool’s record Prem scorer on 129 goals – and highest ever against United.
The Reds hailed their “Egyptian king” on social media after he fired the fourth and sixth goals in the 7-0 Anfield win.
Incredibly,. Salah has netted ten of his deadly dozen against the Red Devils in his last five encounters with them.
Robbie Fowler netted 10 goals in all for Liverpool against United.
Grumpy Nev tells cocky Carra to ‘do one’
Gary Neville raged at Jamie Carragher after the Liverpool legend mocked him during Manchester United’s 7-0 defeat at Anfield.
The Reds handed Erik ten Hag’s side an astonishing thrashing on Sunday afternoon as Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah all helped themselves to braces, before Roberto Firmino added a seventh.
It was an incredible second-half collapse from the Red Devils as they conceded six goals in 38 minutes.

And Carragher was not going to let his side’s biggest ever win over Man Utd go by without comment.
Reacting to the remarkable scoreline on Sky Sports’ coverage, Neville said: “You might lose 2-0, you might lose 2-1, you might lose 3-0, but you DO NOT lose 7-0 here. You just don’t”.
Poking fun, Carragher hilariously responded: “You do today”.
An upset Neville then replied to his colleague’s jibe by simply saying: “Do one”.
During the second-half mauling, Carragher also shared a picture from the commentary gantry.
It showed him grinning from ear to ear as a grumpy Neville looked on unimpressed.
‘Big players let Utd down’ – Keane
Roy Keane singled out lack of leadership for United’s “shocking” 7-0 loss at Anfield.
The ex-Red Devils’ hardman said: “It was obviously a bad day, shocking really.
“It was game over at the beginning of the second half. The senior players were embarrassing. They didn’t show any leadership skills. Shocking.
“Thank God I was never part of a team beaten by that much at United.
“The players will be ashamed and embarrassed. When the going got tough, they went missing.
“They didn’t show any pride, fight or spirit.
“The big players, the ones we all build up, really let the club down. If you ever get beaten by six or seven, you go into hiding for a few days.
“I’d go missing for a few months. I don’t know what to say, I’m in shock.”
    From ‘classic’ to ‘shambles’ ..
Gary Neville reckons United delivered a “classic away performance” for 40 minutes” – then a disgraceful second half.
The Red Devils went from 0-0 at 43 minutes to 0-3 down at 50… on the way to a 7-0 humiliation.
Ex-Old Trafford defender Neville told Sky Sports: “The first 40 minutes was a classic away performance. They (United) weathered the storm and it looked like they were going to get a goal.
“But the second-half was an absolute disgrace and a shambles.
“That was epitomised by captain Bruno Fernandes who was embarrassing at times.
“But it was not their usual performance or spirit. Ten Hag will deal with it like he’s dealt with other difficult situations”
    Bruno admits United were ‘erratic’
Under-fire skipper Bruno Fernandes admitted United virtually fell apart in Liverpool’s second-half rampage.
The Red Devils were arguably on top until Cody Gakpo’s 43rd minute opener, but fell apart once Liverpool added a quick double after the break on the way to a record 7-0 victory.
Fernandes told Sky Sports: “It’s really frustrating, because it’s a really bad result.
“The first half was really good, we created most of the chances, they didn’t create much. The second half was not our level.”
But of United crumbling, he added: “The team tries to react but in an erratic way. We tried to go forward but lost some shape.”
What is Man Utd’s biggest loss?
Manchester United’s biggest loss is 7-0.
The have lost by that scoreline on FOUR occasions, most recently to Liverpool on Match 5, 2023.
They also suffered a 7-0 defeat to Blackburn Rovers on 10 April 1926, to Aston Villa on 27 December 1930 and to Wolverhampton on Boxing Day, 1931.
All of those defeats happened away from home.
The shock Liverpool loss at Anfield was United’s biggest in the Premier League era, and was their worst result in 92 years.
Man Utd stars appear to turn on Dalot
Some Man Utd players appeared to turn on Diogo Dalot during their match against Liverpool.
Anthony and Fred were spotted criticising the defender mid-way through the first half.
They appeared to be unhappy with his use of the ball, with manager Erik ten Hag also seen bellowing at Dalot from the touchline.
To make matters worse for the Portuguese Liverpool opened the scoring after exploiting United’s right flank.
Dalot was drawn towards Andy Robertson on the ball, meaning he left a huge space behind him.
    Man Utd humiliation
Manchester United have experienced their heaviest ever Premier League defeat.
United haven’t lost like this since 1931, which means this hasn’t happened since before World War II.
However, this sort of embarrassing loss has happened three times before.
The Red Devils lost also 7-0 to Blackburn in 1926, Aston Villa in 1930 and Wolves a year later

    Complete contrast at Anfield
The derby between Liverpool and Manchester United started one way and ended in a completely oppossite way.
United entered the pitch shortly after their Carabao Cup triumph amid talks of a surprise Premier League challenge.
The Reds, on the other hand, had been undergoing a turbulent season that has been completely different to their unprecedented quadruple challenge last term.
But the mood changed dramatically at full-time as the Red Devils’ title hopes are now practically dead and the Merseysiders have restored confidence with their best performance of the season.
Liverpool appear to be back at their best, while United manager Erik ten Hag has work to do even though there is still a good chance of Europa League and FA Cup success

    Jamie Carragher speaks
Liverpool’s triumph over Manchester United took Jamie Carragher “two or three years” back in time.
Carragher told Sky Sports: “It was unbelievable watching the second half. It was the shock of, ‘How’s this first half ended up like this second half from both team’s point of view?’
“Seeing Manchester United so bad in that second half and seeing Liverpool so good.
“We haven’t seen that performance I don’t think at any time this season.
“That second-half performance felt like two or three years ago when the opposition just couldn’t cope with them, especially at Anfield”

    Roy Keane criticism
Legendary Manchester United captain Roy Keane didn’t hold back when criticising the performance against Liverpool.
Keane told Sky Sports: “It was obviously a bad day, shocking really. It was game over at the beginning of the second half.
“The senior players were embarrassing. They didn’t show any leadership skills. Shocking. It was a tough day for United. Thank god I was never part of a team beaten by that much at United.
“The players will be ashamed and embarrassed. When the going got tough, they went missing. They didn’t show any pride, fight or spirit.
“The big players, the ones we all build up, really let the club down. If you ever get beaten by six or seven, you go into hiding for a few days. I’d go missing for a few months. I don’t know what to say, I’m in shock”

    Gary Neville reacts
Manchester United legend Gary Neville described the Red Devils’ performance as an “absolute disgrace” but expressed support for manager Erik ten Hag.
Neville told Sky Sports: “The first 40 minutes was a classic away performance. They weathered the storm and it looked like they were going to get a goal.
“But the second half was an absolute disgrace and a shambles. That was epitomised by captain Bruno Fernandes who was embarrassing at times.
“But it was not their usual performance or spirit. [Erik] Ten Hag will deal with it like he’s dealt with other difficult situations”

    Appalling pitch invasion
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was left raging at a pitch invader for invading the pitch and clattering into Andy Robertson.
Roberto Firmino scored the Reds’ seventh goal in their remarkable 7-0 win over rivals Manchester United.
But the celebrations were momentarily cut short when an inconsiderate fan stormed on to the pitch and appeared to slide into the huddle and injure Robertson.
The left-back was left in pain on the floor as security got on top of the invader.
Robertson was able to finish the game, but the fan was not about to get off lightly as he was dragged past Klopp.
The German tactician furiously screamed at the supporter for his actions – which could have left his player with a serious injury

    Ten Hag reacts
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag described the second-half performance as “unprofessional” and confirmed there will be a serious talk about their embarrassing loss.
Ten Hag told Sky Sports: “The second half was unprofessional. It can’t happen and we have to talk about it.
“It was about the whole team, I saw 11 individuals losing their heads.
“That is not Manchester United, we have higher standards”

    Elliott and Gakpo stand out
Mohamed Salah was Liverpool’s man of the match against Manchester United.
But Salah wasn’t the only standout performer for Jurgen Klopp’s side at Anfield.
Cody Gakpo scored a brace and made his presence felt all over the Reds’ attacking half even though he played as a No9.
Harvey Ellioot also put together a masterclass in midfield, especially down the right and produced an assist.
    More below:

    Jurgen Klopp reacts
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hailed his team’s “perfect” performance and warned their Premier League rivals they are ” still around”.
Klopp told Sky Sports: “First half it got a bit wild. But we scored an incredible goal, what a finish. Second half, start pretty good and the finish was pretty good.
“It’s important that we really perform and all the guys come on and score, Bobby [Roberto Firmino] comes on and scores. Diogo [Jota] could have scored. All top performances.
“It was perfect. Everybody has to feel us, everybody has to know we are still around. That’s what we have to be from now on”

    Mohamed Salah reacts
Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah revealed he will celebrate becoming Liverpool’s Premier League record goalscorer with a “chamomile tea and sleep”.
Salah told Sky Sports: “It’s very special, I can’t lie. This record was in my mind since I came here. After my first season I was always chasing the record.
“To get it today against [Manchester] United with that result is unbelievable. I’m going home to celebrate with the family, Chamomile tea and sleep.
“We need to stay humble. We are not in the position we want to be but hopefully it will give us a big push”

    Van Dijk record
Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk has gained global recognition for his defensive prowess.
But Van Dijk has also proven to be dangerous in attack ever since his Premier League arrival in 2015.
The Netherlands international has scored 20 goals in the Prem, which is the most of any centre-back since he joined Southampton eight years ago.
The 31-year-old has amassed three goals in 20 league matches this season

    Salah targets milestone
Liverpool superstar Mohamed Salah is on fire this season with nine goals and five assists in 24 Premier League matches.
But Salah is targeting something major this season as he is just one goal away from equalling Robbie Fowler’s Prem club record of 128.
The winger has scored at least 20 goals across all competitions in all six of his seasons with the Reds.
And the Egypt international has netted eight Premier League goals against Manchester United – only Alan Shearer, with 10, has more

    Man Utd formation
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag appears to have chosen a 4-2-3-1 formation with six changes to the team that beat West Ham in the FA Cup on Wednesday.
David de Gea starts in goal with Diogo Dalot at right-back and Luke Shaw, on for Tyrell Malacia, on the other side, while Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane replace Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof at centre-back.
Fred and Casemiro come on for Marcel Sabitzer and Scott McTominay in midfield, while captain Bruno Fernandes plays at No10.
Antony covers the right flank with Marcus Rashford taking the place of Alejandro Garnacho on the other side, while Wout Weghorst spearheads the attack

    Liverpool formation
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp appears to have opted for his usual 4-3-3 formation with three changes to the team that beat Wolves in the Premier League on Wednesday.
Alisson starts in goal with Trent Alexander-Arnold at right-back and Andy Robertson replacing Kostas Tsimikas on the other side, while Ibrahima Konate and Virgil van Dijk team up at centre-back.

    Man Utd XI
De Gea, Dalot, Varane, Martinez, Shaw, Casemiro, Fred, Fernandes, Weghorst, Rashford, Antony

    Liverpool XI

    The team sheets are in!!!
    Man Utd stats
Manchester United are third in the Premier League table with two games in hand as well as nine points away from second-placed Manchester City and 14 away from leaders Arsenal.
United have won 15 out of 24 Prem matches so far and lost five along the way.
In fact, the Red Devils have earned 23 points since the 2022 World Cup break – no team in the English top flight has won more during this period.
Erik ten Hag’s side could reach 50 points after 25 Premier League matches for only the second time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
Last time took place in the 2017-2018 season under Jose Mourinho when they recorded 53 points in that period and finished second.
Finally, United have scored in each of their last 15 league games, which is the longest run in the competition
    Credit: PA
    Liverpool stats
Liverpool are sixth in the Premier League table with six points separating them from fourth placed Tottenham – but Jurgen Klopp’s men have two games in hand.
The Reds have won 11 out of all their 24 Prem matches and lost seven times along the way.
The Merseysiders have won three of their last four Premier League games after failing to win any of the first four matches of 2023, this means the hosts can remain unbeaten in five consecutive league fixtures for the first time this season.
The signs are promising as Liverpool have kept a clean sheet in four consecutive Prem games for the first time since April.
But Klopp’s side has won 27 points at home and 12 away this season, which is the biggest differential of any team

    Detailed head-to-head record
Liverpool and Manchester United’s historic rivalry kicked off way back in 1949 during a First Division match that ended 1-1 at Anfield.
Since then, United have won a majority of 62 out of 151 matches across all competitions, with the Reds counting 46 victories along the way
But the Red Devils haven’t won at Anfield since 2016 and got thrashed in their last visit last season when the Merseysiders won 4-0.
In fact, Liverpool have won four of their subsequent seven matches against the Manchester giants at the Kop

Liverpoll vs Man Utd team news
Hello everybody – Kostas here – and I will be bringing you all the action from Anfield as rivals Liverpool and Manchester United lock horns in a crucial Premier League derby.
The two foes have everything to fight for as third-placed United are still on an unexpected quadruple run while the Reds need a win to push for a top-four finish amid a turbulent season.
As mentioned earlier, though, the Merseysiders’ manager Jurgen Klopp will be without Thiago Alcantara (hip), Luiz Diaz (knee), Arthur (quad) and Calvin Ramsay (knee).
Joe Gomez and Naby Keita are a doubt after missing Wednesday’s Prem victory over Wolves with respective knocks.
But Klopp has had important players, like Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk, back at his disposal for the derby.
United manager Erik ten Hag, on the other hand, will be without Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek, who are out with an ankle and knee injury respectively.
Anthony Martial is unlikely to be fit in time as he is still dealing with a hip injury.
Ten Hag also has minor doubts over Luke Shaw and in-form Jadon Sancho, who missed Wednesday’s FA Cup victory over West Ham with a knock and illness respectively

    Last season’s antics
Last season, Liverpool were in imperious form, winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, while reaching the Champions League final and missing out on the Premier League after one of the most-outrageous final-day comebacks ever from Manchester City.
The Reds also spanked United 9-0 across their two Premier League fixtures – with Jurgen Klopp grinning as his side made the Red Devils look like total amateurs.
This season, the German’s iconic grin has been replaced by a grimace as his Reds fall apart in front of his very eyes.
Make no mistake, this Liverpool squad needs a huge shake-up this summer with an aging midfield, error-prone defence and injury hit front-line wreaking havoc.
But will they be able to attract the likes of Jude Bellingham when they’re increasingly unlikely to grab a Champions League place?
    SunSport’s prediction
    Liverpool 2-2 Man Utd
It’s hard to see Man Utd losing but this match won’t be easy in front of a fired-up Anfield and against a Liverpool team desperately fighting for points.
It should be entertaining – expect goals.

    United’s star man
Marcus Rashford is the most in-form forward in the world at the moment.
Rashford has contributed to 16 goals since the World Cup and defences across Europe have struggled to slow him down.
Undoubtedly United’s biggest threat and any success they have will stem from the Three Lions star.

    Liverpool’s star man?
Going forward Trent Alexander-Arnold has the ability to affect any game.
Much-maligned defensively, if Liverpool are to get anything out of the game, they’ll need to find a way to stop Rashford.
Alexander-Arnold will need to be switched on for the full 90 minutes.
And if he gets a chance to bomb forward or get a set-piece within 30 yards, the England ace could be the most important player on the pitch for Klopp.

    Ten Hag’s record vs Liverpool
Today is not the first time Erik ten Hag has faced the Reds at Anfield.
He was manager of Ajax when the then champions of the Eredivisie took on the Premier League winners in the 2020-21 Champions League group stages.
Liverpool won at the Johann Cruyff Arena 1-0.
And then Jurgen Klopp’s side repeated the result at Anfield as they qualified top of their group, while Ajax finished third and were dumped into the Europa League.

    Keane as mustard
There is bound to be some fireworks in the pundit studio today.
Roy Keane, pictured, is alongside Gary Neville, Jamie Carragher and Graeme Souness for Sky Sports.
The Irishman, 51, has arrived early at Anfield and will not hold back with his forthright views.
    Credit: Rex
    United last time out
Eric ten Hag gave some key players a much-needed rest in midweek after a hectic couple of weeks.
The likes of Marcus Rashford, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Raphael Varane all started on the bench.
So they will be raring to go from the off at Anfield today.
Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek will both miss the clash at Anfield.
Anthony Martial is unlikely to be fit, with Wout Weghorst set to continue leading the line.
Ten Hag also has minor doubts over Luke Shaw and Jadon Sancho who missed the FA Cup win over West Ham with an injury and illness respectively.

    The Reds’ last time out
Jurgen Klopp will be hoping to have no fresh injury concerns following Liverpool’s 2-0 win against Wolves in midweek.
Thiago is still out, as are Luiz Diaz and Calvin Ramsay.
Arthur is still likely to miss the match, despite returning to training.
Joe Gomez and Naby Keita are questionable after missing the win over Wolves with knocks.
Andy Robertson could come back into the fold in place of Kostas Tsimikas after being rested in midweek.
Red’s boss could call upon skipper Jordan Henderson for such a big occasion.
January signing Cody Gakpo will be pushing for a start after being dropped for the Wolves game.

    Trent stats
Trent Alexander-Arnold has had a quiet campaign so far with one goal and two assists.
By Trent’s standards, the assists numbers are very low as the 24-year-old ended last season with a huge 12 assists from right-back.
That’s just one behind teammate Mohammed Salah who finished top of the assists chart last season.

    Managers’ plea to fans
Both Jurgen Klopp and Erik ten Hag have called for an end to ‘tragedy chanting’ in football, in anticipation of today’s Premier League fixture.
Jurgen Klopp said: “One of the main reasons why the rivalry between Liverpool and Manchester United is so special is that it is so intense and no-one should ever want to change this. But at the same time, when the rivalry becomes too intense it can go to places that are not good for anyone and we do not need this.
“We do want the noise; we do want the occasion to be partisan and we do want the atmosphere to be electric. What we do not want is anything that goes beyond this and this applies especially to the kind of chants that have no place in football. If we can keep the passion and lose the poison, it will be so much better for everyone.”
Erik Ten Hag said: “The rivalry between Manchester United and Liverpool is one of the greatest in world football. We all love the passion of the fans when our teams meet, but there are lines that should not be crossed.
“It is unacceptable to use the loss of life — in relation to any tragedy — to score points, and it is time for it to stop. Those responsible tarnish not only the reputation of our clubs but also, importantly, the reputation of themselves, the fans, and our great cities.
    Head-to-head
Last season Ralf Rangnick’s dismantled Manchester United side were picked apart by a title-chasing Liverpool, as the Reds walked out 4-0 winners on the day.
The goals that day came from Luis Diaz, Sadio Mané and a brace from Mo Salah.
The Red Devils last won at Anfield back in 2016 thanks to a late goal from United legend Wayne Rooney.

Good afternoon all welcome to Anfield
Welcome to SunSports’s live blog as Liverpool host Manchester United in a massive Premier League derby clash.
The Red Devils are still on for the quadruple this season, with the Carabao Cup already secured.
The Merseyside club are currently 6 points off a Champions League spot but do have two games in hand on Spurs in fourth.
The Reds go into the game with three wins in four, with Mohammed Salah getting back on the score sheet in their most recent win against Wolves.
United haven’t tasted defeat since their 3-2 loss at the Emirates back in January.
Since then, they have been in unbelievable form in the league and in cup competitions, with some fans hopeful of a quadruple this season.
In the return fixture, Man United beat Jurgen Klopp’s side 2-1 with goals from Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford.
Mohammed Salah pulled one back late on, but Eric Ten Hag’s side held on to a precious three points against their bitter rivals.
Thiago, Luiz Diaz and Calvin Ramsey will all miss the all-important game at Anfield, but Klopp will be happy to have Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk back fit in recent weeks.
Joe Gomez and Naby Keita both missed the midweek win over Wolves meaning today’s game could come soon for the pair.
Eric ten Hag will still be without midfield duo Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek as they are both sidelined with long-term injuries.
There are doubts over the fitness of Luke Shaw and Jadon Sancho, who missed the FA Cup 5th round triumph over West Ham in midweek.
Sancho missed the game due to illness, while Luke Shaw picked up a minor injury.
Luke Shaw would be a massive miss for the Red Devils, especially with Mo Salah back in goalscoring form.
The former Southampton man has been everpresent in the United backline this season, player left-back and also filling in a left-centre back when Lisandro Martínez.

Lap 17/57 – Piastri out of race
Oscar Piastri looks devastated as his race is over.
The electrical issues could not be resolved and his car is being rolled back into the garages.
Meanwhile, Perez having not pitted yet leads with a 9.9 second lead on Verstappen in second place.
It seems Perez is looking to build a lead on Leclerc before heading to the pits himself.
Lap 15/57 – Ferrari perfects double pit
The distance Sainz was behind Leclerc worked perfectly there.
As Leclerc came into the pits with a quick change, as soon as he leaves the lane, Ferrari call Sainz in.
That was smooth as both drivers pitted and got straight out.
Ocon has damage to his front wing and has been given a five second penalty for being on the wrong place on the grid.
Lap 13/57 – Verstappen leads, Mercedes readies pit
George Russell may need to come in for an early tyre change.
It is being checked whether Ocon started in the wrong place on the grid which would carry a penalty.
Defending champion Verstappen is now 8.6 seconds ahead of second place.
Russell now has to stay on the track as Hamilton takes his chance to pit.
This is a great battle as Russell has to concede and see Alonso go ahead of him.
Lap 11/57 – Alonso putting pressure on Russell
George Russell feels Lewis Hamilton is holding him up.
With Fernando Alonso right on his tail, a mere 0.3 seconds, Russell is feeling the pressure.
Verstappen is enjoying a comfortable race so far, opening up a 7.1 second gap to Leclerc.

Lap 9/57 – Verstappen thriving, Russell locks up
As he comes into the bend, George Russell misjudges causing a lock up which sees him veer off the circuit slightly.
He asks his team whether Hamilton is having issues as he felt he was going slowly.
Only one second between the two drivers right now.
Verstappen is going from strength to strength with a 6.1 second lead.
Lap 7/57 – Verstappen ahead, Perez gaining
Max Verstappen has made a strong start to the race.
He is not having to worry about second place pressuring him.
Perez is putting real pressure Leclerc in second place, only 0.7 seconds behind.
Meanwhile, Verstappen has built a 5.3 second gap now.
Lap 5/57 – Verstappen opening up, Alonso drops
The early contact has really affected Fernando Alonso.
He has dropped to seventh place with George Russell in sixth and Lewis Hamilton in fifth.
Meanwhile, Verstappen has opened up a 4.1 second lead from Leclerc.
Lap 3/57 – Verstappen leads, building gap
Verstappen has opened up his lead to almost 2 seconds.
Perez sits in third ahead of Sainz.
None of the drivers are opening gaps like race leader Verstappen.
Alonso is complaining to his team about being hit, unaware it was his own team.

Lap 1/57 – Verstappen leads from Leclerc
There was some contact in the early stages.
Alonso had some contact and there were concerns whether it had caused a puncture but all seems fine.
Replays show it was Lance Stroll who made contact with his teammate.
It’s not the first lap of a race without some bodywork on the circuit.
Verstappen has a 1.1 second lead in the early stages.
Lights out, F1 season is underway
With 57 laps over the 3.6 mile circuit today, we are close to getting underway, the wait is over.
There is no greater anticipation than the first race of the season.
As the drivers being their formation lap under the Bahrain lights.
Red Bull head the grid, closely followed by Ferrari, then Mercedes and Aston Martin.
    Ferrari with pre-race concerns
After Charles Leclerc’s car saw part of it break off in qualifying, the team have been checking all is as it should be before the opening race of the season.
There were also issues with Carlos Sainz’s battery which had to be replaced overnight and some work with the electrical components took place also.
As we head to lights out, Ferrari will be hoping their car does not hinder the drivers at all today.
Starting grid for Bahrain Grand Prix
Like the first day of school, the new F1 campaign opens in the Persian Gulf this afternoon.

Big things expected from front two
Christian Horner looks relaxed as we head closer to the start of the race.
With Verstappen and Perez holding the front two positions on the grid and seeing the performance of the car in practice and qualifying, they believe that the drivers can hold their grid positions to the finish line.
There will be a few other drivers looking to address that.

    Bahrain circuit offers interesting start
The first corner always offers excitement for race fans.
In particular, at Bahrain the approach of drivers can be slightly different with the first corner actually offering the chance to overtake on the outside.
This could be something that Hamilton looks to utilise to improve his position as they come out of the second turn into the straight.
Stats don’t look good for today’s winner
For the last six years, the winner of the first race, wherever it has been, has gone on to finish second in the Drivers’ Championship. This has also happened two other times since 2000.
36% of drivers in the last 22 years have won the first race and then finished runner up in the Drivers’ Championship.
It started in 2017, Sebastian Vettel won the first race in Australia, then finished P2 in the Drivers Championship behind Lewis Hamilton.
It continued in 2018, when the exact thing happened, Vettel finishing P1 in Melbourne, then P2 in the Championship with Hamilton taking the trophy.
In 2019 Valtteri Bottas, Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate won the first race in Melbourne, then finished behind the Brit in the Drivers Championship, the exact same thing also happened in 2020, except Covid-19 restrictions meant that the first race was in Austria and there was no Australian Grand Prix.
In 2021, the year any Hamilton fan refuses to speak about, Hamilton won the Sakhir Grand Prix, the first race of the season, then Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won his first Drivers’ Championship.
And last season, before Ferrari started having a ton of strategy issues, Charles Leclerc won the first race then finished P2 in Drivers Championship behind Verstappen.

    Drivers’ changing allegiances in career
As we head towards the first race of the season, there have been changes throughout the close season.

Lewis rocks up with doctor’s note
One of the most bizarre stories coming into the new season was that the FIA’s clampdown on jewellery.
Hamilton claims he suffered an infection last year after having to remove it and it promptly returned for the Singapore Grand Prix.
The British driver provided a doctor’s note warning of disfigurement, with the FIA accepting this and allowing Hamilton to continue wearing the jewellery.
    Champ surprised by end results
Max Verstappen spoke about the practice sessions and qualifying and how he finally finished on the grid:
It’s been a bit of a tough start to the weekend yesterday and today, not really finding my rhythm. But luckily in qualifying we managed to put the pieces together. I was positively surprised to be on pole after the struggles we had in practice.Max VerstappenRed Bull

    Ferrari looking for early edge
The interesting moment in the final sessions of qualifying was Charles Leclerc’s decision to bow out early.
It has been said that the Monegasque driver wanted to have a fresh set of soft tyres to start the race on.
The majority of the front of the grid will not have this option and any of them opting for soft tyres will be using a used set.
That is if any of them have a usable set as they went hard on them in qualifying.
Focussed on the magic number eight
Good news for F1 fans coming from some of the pre-race talk as Lewis Hamilton talked about his potential retirement from the sport.
Hamilton has reiterated how he is focussed on that eighth world title and will not be considering bowing out of F1 until he has accomplished that and will be signing a new deal with Mercedes.
With the issues they seem to have in getting this car just right to enable him to challenge, that may take a little longer than the British driver would ideally plan for.
    Hamilton uninspired by Mercedes’ performance
When it came to the practice sessions on Saturday, Hamilton was flying around the track, finishing fourth fastest.
He said he had expected the W1 to be a lot worse and was pleased that they had made it through to Q3 but felt it dip by qualifying the following day.
“We made a step forward today and the car was feeling much more alive this morning, and all of a sudden, we were in a different place to where we were the day before. But then we got to qualifying and for me the car just didn’t feel alive, it felt kind of average.”
The seven-time world champion will be hoping for better things today from his Mercedes.
    New season, completely new car
Despite the expected dominance of Max Verstappen, all the talk after qualifying had to be on the performance of the Aston Martin.
With both Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll finishing in the top eight on the grid, we have ourselves a genuine four-car race in the season opener.
Red Bull, Ferrari, Aston Martin and Mercedes will do battle today and is perfectly poised for a classic race to get the 2023 FI season going.
Welcome to the F1 Bahrain Grand Prix
The 2023 F1 calendar gets underway today in  the Persian Gulf.
Qualifying was a highly competitive event with Ferrari dominating Q1 and Q2, with Max Verstappen battling it out against the drivers but their early finishes allowed the Red Bull driver to book another pole position.
Charles Leclerc sat in pole position until Verstappen put in a Q3 performance that saw him pip the Ferrari driver by a mere tenth ahead before improving on that with a 1:29.708.
Ferrari deciding to save tyres for race day, Leclerc’s early exit allowed Sergio Perez book a one-two pole for Red Bull.
Carlos Sainz could only manage to seal fourth place on the grid for Ferrari as he was left as their only hope going into the final qualifying session.
Leclerc wasn’t the only one to burn through his tyres in the early qualifying sessions as Alonso, Russell and Hamilton were all missing from the latter stages.
Fernando Alonso will be most pleased with his performance in the new Aston Martin, something he described as ‘too good to be true’ finishing above both Mercedes and only 0.628 seconds behind Max Verstappen.
The Spaniard only has the Red Bull’s and Ferrari’s in front of him, while George Russell pipped Lewis Hamilton to fifth place on the grid.

    Max stamps authority on defence
Max Verstappen has laid a marker today in his defence of his F1 world title in the 2023 campaign.
He will take some stopping in the Red Bull car this year as Ferrari showed issues in the opening race.
The gap between him and Lewis Hamilton in this race will ask real questions of whether he can even push Verstappen this year.

    The stars were bright, Fernando
Fernando Alonso’s third place finish was a win itself.
Nobody before qualifying would have been placing money with bookies on an Aston Martin podium
The way the Spaniard dealt with his on track battles with Lewis Hamilton and George Russell were nothing short of brilliant.
And boy did he enjoy it.

Worry for the rest of the field
As the dust settles on the Bahrain Grand Prix the reality is setting in with the drivers.
Max Verstappen is going to take some stopping this season.
He won this race at a canter, never troubled by anyone.

Quiet day in the office for Verstappen
Max Verstappen pulls his car into its space as the race winner.
From the grid he led the race and nothing changed for the duration.
With his team taking first and second, it confirms one thing.

Spark gone out of Leclerc challenge
Charles Leclerc will be bitterly disappointed having to bow out of the race today in Bahrain.
After starting third on the grid, he will have had high hopes of what he could achieve today.
The electrical problems his Ferrari was having before the race came back to haunt the Monegasque driver.

    F1 season starts in style
This race did not fail to disappoint today.
So many questions needing answering going into the first race of the 2023 campaign.

1st – Max Verstappen (Red Bull)

Max Verstappen wins Bahrain Grand Prix
Lap 57/57 – Verstappen wins Bahrain Grand Prix
Defending world champion Max Verstappen gets the 2023 F1 campaign off to the perfect start.
Teammate Sergio Perez finishes exactly where he started on the grid.
The big story is Fernando Alonso, who started in fifth, taking a podium finish.
Spanish eyes on Alonso as he takes Aston Martin’s second ever podium finish.
Lap 55/57 – Verstappen leads, Alonso in third
This race is now all about the battle for third.
What a great drive this has been by Verstappen also.
He has not been troubled by anyone at all today and has led from start to finish.
    Machine.

Lap 53/57 – Verstappen heading for victory
Max Verstappen is looking set for the first win of the season.
He leads Perez by 10.8 seconds now.
Perez has a gap over over 24 seconds on Alonso.
More importantly for the Spaniard, he has a 7.3 second gap on Sainz in fourth.
Lap 51/57 – Verstappen leads, Hamilton in fifth
It is debatable whether Lewis Hamilton has seen Max Verstappen’s car since the grid earlier today.
No doubt he will have his reasons, usually problems with Mercedes’ ability to give him a decent car.
Meanwhile, Fernando Alonso is showing everyone what driving ability can do as he thrives in this new Aston Martin.
Lap 49/57 – Verstappen leads Perez
The real race now is for that final podium place.
Failing anything drastic happening to their cars, Verstappen and Perez look nailed on for the first and second spots.
Alonso meanwhile has a 3.7 second lead on Sainz.
Lando Norris comes in for his fifth stop to get that air supply topped up.
Lap 47/57 – Alonso into third place
Form is temporary, class is permanent.
The oldest driver in the F1 season, Fernando Alonso gets into the slipstream of Sainz and then uses DRS to get better pace to go passed the Ferrari.
Amazing driving, Alonso now has the chance to finish on the podium today.
Meanwhile, Verstappen is having a leisurely Sunday drive leading the race from Perez in second.
    Credit: AFP
Lap 45/57 – Perez closes gap on Verstappen
Sergio Perez reduces the gap to under ten seconds on his teammate.
Fernando Alonso can taste blood now as he is only 0.3 seconds behinds Sainz.
For Sainz to keep the pace to hold him off, his tyres will not be able to see this race out.
Aston Martin has only ever had one podium finish before.
What a chance for the experienced Alonso.
Lap 43/57 – Leclerc out of race
Not the opening race of the season Charles Leclerc wanted.
Another unreliable Ferrari car costs him.
It has opened up the race for a place on the podium for somebody else now.
Red Bull will be glad that it was only a virtual safety car in place.
Leclerc off the track, virtual safety car out
Charles Leclerc experiences complete power failure.
The virtual safety car is in place.
He was having battery issues before the race and it seems the problems have back to haunt him.
Lap 41/57 – Red Bull dominate, Alonso into fifth
This is some drive by Fernando Alonso this evening.
If he can finish above the two Mercedes, it will be some achievement.
There is no love lost between the two drivers from their time together before.
Meanwhile, Verstappen is having a comfortable drive.
Lap 39/57 – Ferrari seem content with podium
It seems with hard tyres being fitted to both cars now that Ferrari have given up on catching Perez.
The most interesting battle is between Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton.
Coming into turn ten the Spaniard takes Hamilton.
    This is a great watch.
    Credit: Getty
Lap 37/57 – Verstappen leads, Alonso drops
Max Verstappen has a huge lead from his teammate now, some 12.2 seconds.
Leclerc and Sainz hold third and fourth.
Alonso’s pitting cost him as he drops into sixth behind Hamilton.
The Spaniard does have fresher tyres than the Englishman though.
This is turning into a great battle between the pair.
Lap 35/57 – Alonso moves into third
Fernando Alonso is one of the only drivers to have not pitted twice so far.
He is managing his tyres to try and build his lead.
Verstappen meanwhile is 14 seconds ahead of Perez as he comes into the pits and it is the hard tyre that is fitted.
Alonso finally takes his second pit of the race which sees Leclerc move back into third place.
Lap 33/57 – Verstappen leads, Alonso into fourth
Aston Martin have performed the undercut which sees Stroll get ahead of Russell coming out of the pits.
Alonso is putting in some real fast lap times but is 22 seconds ahead of Lewis Hamilton.
The Spaniard still needs to pit but is looking to build more of a lead to come out of them ahead of Lewis Hamilton.
Lap 31/57 – Red Bull dominate pace, tyres key
The last thing Red Bull would want to see in this race is the safety car.
While they hold the front two places, tyre management is key for them now.
They need to go onto a harder tyre.
With Alonso putting pressure on Hamilton, threatening an undercut, his team tell him to pit.
    Credit: Reuters
Lap 29/57 – Verstappen leads from Perez
Perez is some 13.7 seconds behind his Red Bull teammate.
Leclerc needs to focus on trying to break this Red Bull dominance but sits 5.1 seconds behind.
Sainz then is a further 12.5 seconds behind.
    Ocon nightmare continues
Esteban Ocon is having a race from hell today.
Starting in the wrong position on the grid, he was awarded a five second penalty.
Then, he was given a further ten second penalty for not carrying out the previous one correctly.
Now he is being investigated for speeding in the pit lane.
All of this and he sits in last position.
