      Elsewhere, manager Erik ten Hag is set to be offered a new contract by United regardless of whether a takeover is completed, according to reports.
      The Dutchman has made a huge impact in his first season at Old Trafford after joining from Ajax last summer.

      Dalot echoes Shaw’s feelings
      Diogo Dalot has echoed Luke Shaw’s sentiments that Newcastle United’s stars wanted the win more than the Red Devils.
      “Disappointment I think is the word, we wanted to come here and do what we planned,” Dalot told MUTV.
      “We tried to find spaces and we knew they wanted to press high, even after that, we tried to play, but we could have been more patient.
      “Especially in the last third, we could have been a little bit more patient with the ball to find the spaces, to create more chances. We have to show desire, beat them in desire and beat them in every challenge we have.
      “I think they wanted that a little bit more than us today and that can not happen. If we want to fight for more, want to compete for the Premier League, we have to be more consistent, come here and dominate the game.
      “We knew they were going to be intense and press high, but we have to beat it and be more consistent.”
      Weghorst future
      Erik ten Hag has spoken about the possibility of Wout Weghorst staying at Man Utd.
      The Dutch striker is currently on loan with the Red Devils until the end of the season.
      “Of course [he could stay permanently] and I think he is doing a lot of elements of football [I like] – doing them really well. And he’s doing a really good job for us,” he said.
      “Pressing: he is the leader of the process in pressing, starts the press, very good in backward pressing. He is taking up positions, his link-up play he’s doing really well. He is making good movements, making space for others, so he’s also good in set-plays, so he is really contributing to this team.
      “I think after Christmas we play 25 games and we lost two and he played almost all of the games so he is really part of the success.”
      Shaw slams team mates
      Luke Shaw was convinced where the buck stopped after Man Utd were beaten easily 2-0 at Newcastle.
      “Not good enough,” Shaw told Sky Sports when asked about the team’s performance.
      “I feel like every time I speak after games I’m always honest. As a team we have to be honest.
      “I don’t think Newcastle won on quality today, they won on desire, passion, hunger, attitude. They had a higher motivation than we did.
      “That can’t be possible. I feel I say the same every time we lose. They wanted it more. At Man Utd that shouldn’t be possible.
      “It’s unacceptable. It’s not what we want to set out to be. In big games you need that hunger. We didn’t create too much.
      “Maybe you can say it’s been coming. Our levels dropped before the international break. We have three days to pick it back up.
      “The players had a chat in the changing room after with no staff round. It’s down to us. It was nowhere near good enough. We had to speak out in front of each other.
      “It’s important. We’re a team. When we go out onto the pitch, we have to fight for each other. Sometimes it hasn’t looked like that.
      “I’m sure we’ll speak again. We need to realise the problems quickly and change it round. We still can have a very good season but with results and performances like this we can’t.”
      Ten Hag tears into his flops
      Erik ten Hag has torn into his Man Utd players, after their disappointing performance against Newcastle.
      Speaking after the game, ten Hag told Sky Sports: “I hate to say it but they were better today – especially their determination, passion and desire. They wanted to win more so they won.
      “We had our opportunities but then you have to go for goal with the determination they did. It wasn’t good enough. We allowed them too many chances. You have to be hungry and give everything every game.
      “Our attacking game wasn’t good enough. I don’t want to focus on one person. It was a team performance.”
      Slap in the face
      Lisandro Martinez fumed after being subbed in Manchester United’s defeat to Newcastle – but Red Devils fans directed their fury at manager Erik ten Hag instead.
      The Argentine centre-back was hooked for Facundo Pellistri in the 83rd minute of their defeat at St James’ Park.
      Martinez reacted angrily, slapping a chair as he went to take his seat.
      Fans were quick to comment on Martinez’s tantrum, with one saying: “Who saw Martinez on the bench? GRRRRRR.”
      Another said: “Martinez slapping the bench chair!”
      The Old Trafford faithful, however, directed their anger at Ten Hag as he also subbed Rafael Varane for fellow defender Victor Lindelof as they were chasing an equaliser.

      It was a miserable afternoon all-round for United, with many fans questioning Ten Hag’s decision to leave out Fred.

      Man Utd have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Kim Min-jae with Liverpool reportedly keen on the Napoli star.
      He has attracted interest from a host of European clubs including Paris Saint-Germain.
      Napoli are believed to be keen to tie him down to a new contract as a result, which could include increasing his buyout clause to £79million.
      United have been linked to the South Korea international throughout the season.
      But it seems rivals Liverpool have overtaken them in the race to sign the 26-year-old, according to Foot Mercato.

      Ten Hag’s role in takeover
      Erik ten Hag is distancing himself from Man Utd’s potential takeover.
      The Dutch tactician revealed he met one bidder Sir Jim Ratcliffe – but there was nothing more to their chance encounter.
      “They leave me [alone] which is fine because all the others have to decide, it’s not up to me, he told Sky Sports.
      “My job is to lead, to manage the first team, to let them perform and get the right results, that is what I have to focus on.
      “In a previous press conference I said Sir Jim Ratcliffe, I met him and we shook hands but that is all. It was a coincidence because we coincidentally met in the corridor so not officially, I was not in contact with anyone.”

      Two former Man Utd strikers are among the early contenders to replace Brendan Rodgers.
      Leicester announced this afternoon the Northern Irishman had left the club after four years in charge following Saturday’s 2-1 defeat at Crystal Palace.
      Ruud van Nistelrooy is 14-1 to take over at the King Power while Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is at 16-1 with Betfair.
      Top if the pile, though, is Thomas Frank (5-1), Ange Postecoglou (17-2) and Rafa Benitez (9-1).
      ‘Tells you as it is’
      Hughes, 59, told the Mirror: “Erik ten Hag has come in and steadied the boat that was rocking from side to side.
      “He’s going to need to have time and he’s done the initial part of dealing with the demand that was on him as the manager of the club, stabilising everything.
      “He looks like he’s instilled discipline into the group and the club as a whole.
      “Playing under Sir Alex Ferguson, his standards for discipline and behaviour were strong, it was one of his mantras.
      “It looks like Ten Hag has taken a little bit of that on board and it seems like he is a very straightforward and structured guy who just tells you as it is.
      “Players can respond to that and maybe there were a few that were wavering or going on a different tangent – he’s managed to bring everyone together, which was required.
      “I hope Manchester United sticks with Erik ten Hag.”
      Erik making his Mark
      Mark Hughes believes Erik ten Hag is copying one key aspect of Sir Alex Ferguson’s managerial approach to help turn Manchester United around.
      The Dutchman took over at Old Trafford in the summer and, after a nightmare start, is helping transform the club.
      Ferguson led the club to a staggering 13 league crowns during his 26 years at the helm, often putting his no-nonsense approach into action with the infamous hairdryer treatment.
      The first two of those, in 1993 and 1994, he had Welsh star Hughes in his team.
      Now the Bradford manager is beginning to see small glimpses of Fergie’s success in the current Red Devils gaffer.
      Joao-ing around
      Man Utd hope to steal Joao Felix away from Chelsea in the summer.
      The striker joined the Blues on loan in January but it is believed they are seeking a permanent move.
      However Chelsea did not include a clause in the deal to make the move permanent, so other clubs can make an approach.
      United have been linked to Felix for some time and are monitoring his current situation, according to Mundo Deportivo.
      Erik ten Hag is reportedly prioritising a move for a striker when the summer transfer window re-opens.
      And it is believed Felix could be available for £88million, though the Red Devils are hopeful of a more “favourable deal”.
      Ten Hag on Weghorst transfer
      Erik ten Hag has hinted Man Utd could sign Wout Weghorst at the end of the season.
      The big forward has been a mainstay since joining on loan in January despite a lack of goals from him.
      However, Ten Hag suggested the club will sign him permanently after declaring he was part of his long-term plan.
      Asked about Weghorst being a long-term team member, he said: “Of course. I think he is doing a lot of elements of football really well.
      “Wout is doing a really good job for us. He is the leader of the process in pressing, he starts the press and is very good in backward pressing.
      “He is also taking up (good) positions and in his link-up play he’s doing really well.
      “He is making good movements, making space for others, so he’s also good in set-plays.

      Triple threat
      Man Utd have a three-man shortlist for their central midfield needs in the coming summer.
      According to the Daily Mail this list consists of Declan Rice, Frenkie de Jong and Jude Bellingham.
      It comes with United weighing up the future of Scott McTominay, who Erik ten Hag recently praised for his versatility.
      However, a lack of starting opportunities means he may look to go elsewhere, with today’s opponent Newcastle one team interested in his services in the summer.
      Bad losers
      Manchester United were the “worst losers” under Sir Alex Ferguson.
      That is according to Warren Barton, who recalled the 2001 4-3 classic which was headlined by a bust-up between Alan Shearer and Roy Keane.
      Barton said: “Shearer said ‘by the way, where were you lot when it all kicked off with Roy Keane at the end?’
      “The fact is, Big Al was very capable of looking after himself. He didn’t need anyone. It’s no secret that there was no love lost between the pair.
      “Shearer had just celebrated wildly around St James’ after his goalbound shot had been bungled in by Wes Brown for an own goal to put us 4-3 up.
      “Clearly it really wound up the opposition players. Keane and the rest of that United team were the worst losers.”

      Marcus Rashford should return at Newcastle this afternoon – as United boss Erik ten Hag closes on a monster new contract.
      And Leicester want Harry Maguire back on loan, while Luke Shaw will “definitely” sign a new contract.
      That’s the pick of the talk around Old Trafford ahead of their first Premier League match after the international break.
      Newcastle will leapfrog third-placed United if they win today.
      So Ten Hag is especially keen for 27-goal frontman Rashford to be fit enough to start after missing England’s first two Euro 2024 qualifiers.
      The Dutchman said: “I have good hope. He trained but he had to do some treatment.
      “For me, it’s positive that he took that time to turn off from football [to go to New York].
      “I’ve seen him back this week and he showed a lot of energy, a lot of motivation.”

      The Spain whizkid has suddenly struggled for a first-choice spot with Barca this season.
      And  Football Insider suggest City are keen on the seven-cap ace, 20.
      The 20-year-old’s dad certainly seems happy for his son to move on.
      He said recently: “If it was up to me, I would take him [to another team].
      “As a dad, I am angry. Seeing Ansu play so little winds you up a little bit and sometimes I think as a father, not a coach.”
      Ten Hag ‘still keen on Sesko’
      Erik ten Hag is patiently monitoring Red Bull Salzburg striker Benjamin Šeško, reports say.
      Brighton’s Evan Ferguson and Atalanta star Rasmus Højlund have focused more in talk over a new striker for United this summer.
      But transfer insider Dean Jones told GIVEMESPORT that Ten Hag is in no mood to drop his pursuit of Slovenia hero Sesko, 19.

      AJ and his abs
      Anthony Joshua was straight onto rest and recovery after celebrating his win over Jermaine Franklin.
      AJ was taken the distance in victory at the O2, his first win since December 2020.

      And Joshua ticked off 12 rounds of action, before recovering the next day in the sauna.
      Interestingly, AJ appeared to announce that he will “go again” in just 12 weeks time as his promoter Eddie Hearn wants three fights in 2023.
      Hearn said: “I would like to see him have a little rest then get straight back to Texas with Derrick and try and have an end-of-summer fight, and then try and fight in December.”
      AJ wanted a knockout
      Anthony Joshua was critical of his own performance – admitting he wanted a knockout.
      “No knockout, so no good. It is a brutal sport, but knockouts are everything. I’m not too happy,” AJ said.
      “I could have thrown more shots, and I should have, no excuses. But I will. That is part of coming back; you have to be your own biggest critic. If you want to progress, you can’t say that was brilliant and chill out.
      “Franklin is a decent counter-puncher; the right hand wasn’t landing; that is one of my best shots but we will build.
      “Whatever my coach wants to work on, we’ll work on. I don’t want to put pressure on Derrick; everything that happens in the ring is on me. If you want to be a fighter you have to deal with the pressure.”
      Whyte wants revenge
      Dillian Whyte wants revenge over Anthony Joshua having grown tired of watching highlights of his knockout loss.
      Whyte was ringside to watch AJ’s comeback fight against Jermaine Franklin – who he beat in November – and called out his old rival.
      He told DAZN: “I hope he wins tonight because I want to fight him next.
      “Me against the Franklin, the winner should have been fighting AJ, it was supposed to be the winner fights AJ next and he is fighting the loser.
      “So I hopes he wins tonight. I want the chance to redeem myself because he keeps playing this video of him knocking me out years and years ago and I want revenge.”
      Fighting talk
      Joe Joyce is adamant that Anthony Joshua would not go the full 12 rounds with him in the ring.
      Speaking after AJ’s unconvincing win over Jermaine Franklin, Joyce wrote on Instagram: “There is not a chance in hell that man would hear the final bell against Joyce.”
      He added: “The same can be said about Jermaine Franklin.”
      Love Island
      The likes of AJ and Tyson Fury have well and truly helped repopularise the sport of boxing in the UK.
      As such, celebs – both A and Z list, are always pining for a seat at the biggest ticket in town.
      SunSport spotted two Love Islanders in attendance – one of whom was reality TV star turned boxer AJ Bunker.
      The other, was Michael Griffiths, who was sat behind press row taking in the fight in an expensive-looking outfit.
      Haye tells AJ to forget Fury
      David Haye has urged Anthony Joshua to drop plans of fighting Tyson Fury next and pick up his rivalry with Dillian Whyte.
      He told iFL TV: “I’d like to see him in there with Dillian next, that would be nice, that makes perfect sense.
      “They both went points with him, that’s a nice all British clash, London derby. I like that.”

      Louis Theroux
      For the best part of the last decade, every Joshua fight has been an event of national interest – with the nation’s media following the big man wherever he competes.
      The BBC are no different, although they had arguably their most recognisable interviewer on the scene for the return of AJ.
      British television icon Louis Theroux was in attendance to see the eagerly-anticipated return of AJ – and he had a camera crew in tow.
      No doubt there’s an incoming documentary of Theroux behind the scenes with the former two-time unified heavyweight champion.
      Froch’s damning assessment
      Carl Froch has questioned Anthony Joshua’s motivation to continue boxing and cast doubt on whether he can reach the top again.
      Froch told BBC Radio 5Live: “In the ring at world title level he’s been there, done the business. And now I don’t know. What motivates him?
      “We talked about it, he wants the money. I don’t understand why he’s fighting. I just don’t.
      “It’s a dangerous sport. Money can’t be the motivation when you’ve earned over £100m.
      “I’ve not seen anything in that performance that he wants to be a world champion again.”
      ‘Let’s do it’
      Tony Bellew revealed what sparked his near brawl with a member of Jermaine Franklin’s team.
      The former WBC cruiserweight champion nearly came to blows with trainer Lorenzo Reynolds moments after the 989 Assassin’s defeat to Anthony Joshua.
      The pair had to be pulled back after a heated exchange, which followed a near melee between Joshua and Franklin.
      And Bellew has revealed he gave a piece of his mind to Reynolds after the American made an aggressive post-fight “approach” to AJ.
      He told iFL TV: “You can’t have a trainer going for a boxer.
      “So I said, ‘Hey lad what are you playing at?’ And he’s said something and I’ve said, ‘F*** it, let’s do it then.’
      “‘I’ll f***ing meet you with a right hand.’ His mate apologised to me and I said, ‘You can’t.’
      “I didn’t want the trouble with him but I just said, ‘What are you doing?’ And he went, ‘What are you going to do?’
      “I said, ‘What the f*** are you going to do?’ So I’ve stepped down like, ‘Let’s go.’
      “But he didn’t get close enough so what do you want me to do?
      “I was just trying to tell the man that you can’t approach a fighter, so you can’t do that.”

      Touch of class
      The American showed his class by giving young James a once-in-a-lifetime experience of being behind the scenes during fight week.
      And James’ parents sent Franklin a heartfelt thank you message on Instagram.
      The message read: “We would like to thank you for doing everything in your power to make James’ night a truly special and unforgettable one making some beautiful memories.
      “You didn’t have to do anything at all. You are one amazing and unbelievable person with a heart of gold.
      “Although you did not win, you will always be a winner and a champion to us.
      “You’re a true inspiration and hero. We wish you all the best in the future and hope you have a blessed journey.”
      Jermaine being Frank
      Jermaine Franklin has broken his silence following his hard-fought loss to Anthony Joshua.
      Franklin turned in a dogged display and had some success with his counters and in the clinch, although the judges didn’t favour his roughhouse tactics.
      But the 989 Assassin was far from happy with his performance against the poster boy of British boxing.
      He tweeted: “To fans/sponsor. I didn’t fight the fight I planned on fighting.
      “One dream for @james_taylor_archy_ was made last night and my dream of being champ is on hold briefly.”
      Franklin’s tweet included a video of his ring walk with boxing mad youngester James Taylor Archy – who is battling cancer.
      Whyte scathing attack
      Dillian Whyte launched a stunning attack on Anthony Joshua before his unanimous points victory over Jermaine Franklin.
      Speaking to iFL TV ahead of the fight, Whyte said: “These c***ts don’t want to fight me. Wilder, Joshua… Joshua’s a c**t.
      “He wants to fight my leftovers and then talks s**t.
      “The hardest person to beat is the undefeated heavyweight. He’s been beaten already, his mind is broke.”
      Joshua defeated Whyte back in 2015 for the British heavyweight title.
      AJ mocks Fury
      Anthony Joshua has stoked the fire under a potential summer bout against Tyson Fury after mocking him following his win against Jermaine Franklin.
      AJ appeared to mock Fury by doing a gesture of Fury holding up a camera and speaking into it, before making a play on his voice.
      Speaking after the fight, he said: “You don’t beat Tyson Fury in a verbal contest.”
      He then lifted a phone camera high and took a swipe at Fury’s gesturing.
      He added: “Jimmy I’m calling you out tomorrow to come and fight me at Croxdale Park.
      “What does he do everyday on the internet?
      “(In lower voice) 70-30, you rabbit.”
      Hearn on AJ v Franklin
      Eddie Hearn has given his assessment of AJ’s performance in his bout v Franklin.
      Speaking to DAZN after the fight, he said: “Good 12 rounds under Derrick James. Everyone wants him to be a bit more aggressive in that fight.
      “Franklin is a tough style for him, we knew that, took some good shots as well.
      “[I] Thought he closed the fight very well, started throwing MORE punches, especially more combinations as well.
      “Coming off those two defeats his career was on the line. Everyone expects him to steamroll Franklin but he’s a good fighter and I’m pleased he got the 12 rounds and I think people will be up for fighting him.
      “They’ll think he’s still showing some signs of weakness. He took some good shots but I thought his defence was good. [I would] Like to see him be a bit more aggressive.
      “But with what was on the line, very happy to be back in the summer with another big fight.”

      Franklin reveals transport to O2
      Jermaine Franklin has revealed he took the TUBE to the O2 Arena for his fight against Anthony Joshua.
      Posting video on his Instagram, Franklin was asked about the Tube, to which he said: “It was faster than an hour and 30-minute ride so I can’t complain.
      “If we left we were just going to be stuck in traffic so it was better than that I guess.”
      Saved by the Bell
      Tony Bellew was involved a post-fight altercation with a member of Jermaine Franklin’s team moments after the American’s clash with Anthony Joshua.
      Franklin suffered a points defeat to the former two-time unified heavyweight champion, who turned in a less-than-impressive display at The O2.
      AJ nearly came to blows with Franklin after the final bell but was held back by the ref as Franklin was restrained by a member of his team.
      But former WBC cruiserweight king Bellew almost found himself trading blows with a Team Franklin member.
      Thankfully no punches were thrown as Bellew was dragged away from the epicentre of the ruckus.

      AJ apology
      Anthony Joshua has apologised for his part in the ugly brawl which took place immediately after his fight with Jermaine Franklin concluded.
      Speaking after the bout, AJ said: “Last time I grabbed the mic, it was a bit chaotic. I’m calm; I appreciate everyone coming out this evening,
      “Inside the ring, it is a different energy so I apologise to those watching.
      “I respect Jermaine, Eddie [Hearn], thank you for this opportunity. Fans, thank you as well.
      “It was important to win. Jermaine has a good duck-and-dive style, somebody else from Britain will probably knock him out; respect to him, he did well.
      “I should have knocked him out but it is done. On to the next.
      “He is here to prove himself, not roll over. I wish I could have knocked him out.”
      Punch stats revealed
      The punching stats between Anthony Joshua and Jermaine Franklin have been revealed.
      And they show that Franklin threw MORE punches than the Brit.
      But AJ was more successful in landing his.
      CompuBox stats show Joshua threw a total of 376 punches – a whopping 50 fewer than Franklin’s 426.
      However, he landed 31 per cent of those to connect with the American 117 times.
      Franklin, though, only managed to hit Joshua 58 times – almost exactly half as many.
      AJ threw more punches in just two of the 12 rounds – in the ninth and the 12th.

      Anthony Joshua delivered an X-rated blast at Jermaine Franklin after the first round of his patchy comeback victory on points.
      AJ triumphed at the 02 following two defeats but was never at his best – and it even KICKED OFF AGAIN after the final bell.
      And he was certainly pumped up for it as things threatened to boil over after the opening round.
      His American rival was spotted sticking his tongue out at Joshua during the early stages of the bout.
      Then once the bell had gone AJ initially refused to sit in his corner as he stood eyeballing his opponent.
      Then, still looking fuming, he stood eyeballing before he shouted: “F*** off.”

      Atlas not impressed in AJ
      Hall of Famer and legendary boxing trainer Teddy Atlas was not impressed in Anthony Joshua’s performance last night.
      Atlas tweeted: “No change in Joshua with new trainer, he’s a typical English style fighter, very picturesque, but you can hit him standing talk.”

      F1 Australian Grand Prix LIVE RESULTS: Verstappen WINS after CHAOS sees Alonso crashes, Russell car on FIRE – latest

      MAX VERSTAPPEN claimed victory in the Australian Grand Prix ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso after a huge PILE-UP at the end of the race.A late red flag saw the race restart from the grid, with a number of cars, INCLUDING Fernando Alonso, getting caught up in a catalogue of crashes.
      This denied Hamilton and Alonso the chance to try and overtake Verstappen, seeing the Dutchman eventually win his second race of the season and claim his first win in Australia.

      It took us a while to get there, we saw a lot of the safety car and three red flags in the process:

      Max Verstappen wins Australian Grand Prix
      FIA decision update:
      The race will resume in 10 minutes.
      It will take the format of a formation lap, so nobody will be able to overtake at all.
      They will drive to the chequered flag with all places as they start.
      For Fernando Alonso, the good news is he will start in third as they had not passed through a section before the third red flag so they have to resume as they started on that occasion.
      Cars that got damaged in the previous incident will not be involved.
      In addition, Carlos Sainz has been given a 5 second penalty for the contact he made with Fernando Alonso.

      Red flag, six cars taken out
      Lap 57/58 – Fernando Alonso out of race
      There is major contact and it looks like another red flag.
      That will mean the end of the race.

      Lap 56/58 – Safety car out, Magnussen loses tyre
      The replay shows he clipped a wall causing his tyre to come off and go flying in the air.
      Sparks flew off the car, with debris flying everywhere.
      With so little racing left it remains to be seen what they do.

      Lap 54/58 – Verstappen leads, Hamilton in second
      Fernando Alonso seems to be going for Lewis Hamilton again.
      With four laps remaining, the pressure is on the British driver.
      He has had to hold onto his place for so long, it will feel like a win for him to retain second place.
      Lap 52/58 – Verstappen leads, Hamilton in second
      There will be a few drivers in the running for “driver of the day” today.
      Everyone seems to be holding onto their positions and extending the gaps on the immediate car behind them.
      Meanwhile, Lando Norris moves up into eighth place.
      Lap 50/58 – Verstappen locks up, Hamilton closes gap
      Max Verstappen had a lock issue which saw a massive oversteer.
      As a result, it gives Hamilton the chance to cut his lead 4 seconds.
      He is now only 7.88 seconds behind the race leader.
      Lap 48/58 – Verstappen leads, Alonso sets fastest lap
      There are some interesting charges out there now.
      We are at the stage where teams now if their tyres will see them through to the chequered flag now.
      As a result they are all picking up the pace.

      Lap 46/58 – Verstappen leads, Perez moves into seventh
      Max Verstappen’s teammate is looking to improve his position.
      The Aston Martin team tell Fernando Alonso his tyres look good and he is free to push it for the remainder of the race.
      He is only 1.5 seconds behind Lewis Hamilton.
      Lap 44/58 – Battles continue out on circuit
      The two duels to watch now are Fernando Alonso and Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez and Lando Norris.
      Perez uses the DRS once again and goes ahead of Norris.
      This is becoming an interesting battle.
      Lap 42/58 – Verstappen leads, Hamilton second
      Lewis Hamilton has started clocking some fast times.
      He is not looking to catch Max Verstappen, he knows that is unrealistic with their DRS system.
      He does not want to lose out to Fernando Alonso though.
      Lap 40/58 – Verstappen leads, Hamilton second
      Fernando Alonso is looking to put more pressure on Lewis Hamilton.
      Carlos Sainz is only 1.1 seconds behind the Spaniard.
      Pierre Gasly is less than a second behind him.

      Lap 38/58 – Verstappen leads, Hamilton second
      Since that red flag, Max Verstappen has not looked back.
      Once he used DRS to go passed Lewis Hamilton, the British driver has not seen him since.
      Every car bar one on the track now is on hard tyres.
      Lap 36/58 – Verstappen leads, Hamilton second
      Verstappen now builds a 9.07 second lead.
      Aside from him, the next six cars are all putting pressure on the car in front.
      The knock-on effect is causing all these drivers to pick up the pace.
      That will certainly cause those tyres to degrade more quickly.
      Lap 34/58 – Verstappen leads, Perez puts foot down
      Sergio Perez clocks the fastest lap of the day.
      A lot of cars are out there on the hard tyres now and will not want to pit before the end.
      That will be down to the drivers to preserve the tyres.
      Lap 32/58 – Verstappen leads only remaining Mercedes
      With no George Russell out on the track, all of Mercedes hopes rest on the shoulders of Lewis Hamilton.
      He may need to focus now on keeping other cars at bay rather than trying to hunt down the race leader.
      The top five positions have five different teams currently.
      Lap 30/58 – Verstappen leads comfortably
      Max Verstappen has a 7.3 second lead over Lewis Hamilton now.
      He does hold a 1.9 second lead over Fernando Alonso in third.
      1:21:772 is the fastest lap of the day, of course, recorded by Max Verstappen.

      Round 12 – Joshua sees out the final round, boxing behind his jab and staying out of trouble.
      A big right hook forced Franklin to hold on, but like with Dillian Whyte last year it was too little too late.

      Franklin fires a right hand over the top, just missing the target and the pair are then warned about the holding on.
      Another right hand fires over the top, this time landing on the chin of AJ, who takes it well but maybe concedes the round.

      More clinching and grabbing in this round and the referee is happy to try and let the pair fight it out.

      Franklin comes forward with a one-two, forcing AJ back with the Brit looking tentative to commit.

      Lovely left uppercut from AJ, slipping before throwing but Franklin is unfazed and fires back.

      ARSENAL have beaten Leeds 4-1 in their Premier League clash at the Emirates. Gabriel Jesus went down in the box before coolly dispatching the penalty to give the Gunners a deserved lead.
      And Ben White made it 2-0 in the second half after some brilliant work from Gabriel Martinelli down the left. Jesus then made it 3-0 soon after with a tap-in.
      Leeds then pulled one back but Granit Xhaka scored Arsenal’s fourth soon after.
