Inter 1 AC Milan 0 (agg 3-0): Lautaro Martinez goal seals Nerazzurri’s Champions League final spot over fierce rivals

FAMILIAR foes could await Manchester City and Pep Guardiola in the Champions League final.Ex-City man Edin Dzeko and his Inter Milan team-mates are on their way to Istanbul after overcoming their fierce city rivals in the biggest tie Milan has seen for 20 years.

Neither Carlo Ancelotti, a former Milan manager, or Guardiola, whose Barcelona side lost to Inter in the 2010 semi-final when the Serie A side went on to win the trophy for a third time, will underestimate them.
Across these two legs Inter showed that they can be just as disruptive as they are dangerous.
A true threat when they look to play direct attacking football, but not afraid to drag their opponents into a fight just in case they were thinking of playing any nice football.
Simone Inzaghi’s side preciously guarded the advantage they had snatched here last week, before, with 15 minutes to go, Lautaro Martinez sealed their return to club football’s greatest stage.
Milan’s route to Istanbul was always going to be more difficult given their torrid start to the first leg, when Edin Dzeko and Henrik Mkhitaryan had them on the deck after scoring inside 11 minutes.
Stefano Pioli, the Milan manager, conceded that his side needed a miracle.
Already in a horrible position, they were now facing the ‘away’ leg of this tie, with Inter fans dominating San Siro.
A huge banner of a triumphant knight boasting the victims of this Champions League campaign (Barcelona and Bayern Munich among them) was unfurled to inspire Inter alongside the rallying cry: ‘Victory for us is life.’
HOW TO GET FREE BETS ON FOOTBALL

Milan’s sliver of fans in the Curva Sud responded with: ‘To the assault’, but it never truly came.
Hope that a miracle was possible arrived in the form of Rafael Leao’s name appearing on the teamsheet having missed the first leg with a thigh issue – though he was far from fit.
But it always felt like this was one step too far for Milan, with or without Leao.
If Milan were to have any hope, they needed a spectacular start.
Theo Hernandez looked to provide that, flashing an effort narrowly over the bar from 40-yards out.
Matteo Darmian was forced to head over his own bar before Brahim Diaz fluffed a low effort at Andre Onana – a waste of a chance which could have heaped all the pressure on Inter.
Inter looked to get hold of things after a rough start, though Leao made that far more difficult than last week.
The winger flashed through the Inter defence, only to see his shot roll agonisingly wide of the far post. Close, but another let off.
For a clash between the two titans of the most fashionable city on Earth, this descended into one hell of a scrap.
Those in red and black were running forward and hoping to force something – and it was not working, resulting in just one shot on target across 90 minutes.
Inter were happy to hack away at any momentum their rivals could manage.
Milan’s hope was fading as Inter’s confidence rose, before their elation erupted.
Martinez had been kicked and barged throughout but this time found space through a scrappy one-two with Romelu Lukaku.
The World Cup winner collected and fired a low effort in at the near post, sparking blue and black bedlam.
It would be foolish to rule out a similar sight in Istanbul.

We are underway at The Emirates.

Brighton get the game started in North London.
Home is where the heart is
Arsenal have won five of their last six game at home, drawing the other game, scoring at least three goals on each occasion.

Strikers key to success at Emirates
Both sides tend to use their strikers to link up play between their midfield and attack.

Having just come back from injury, Ferguson will be keen to make an impression on the big stage today.

    Arteta wants winning mentality
Irrelevant to whether Arsenal manage to pip Man City to the Premier League title, this side is in an evolution in the Spaniard’s project.
He will have one eye on building towards next season, having given his players a winning mentality of the course of this campaign.
The Gunners cannot take their eye off the ball and need to ensure that they make The Emirates a tough place for any side to come and get points.

Tough task lies ahead for Arsenal
Brighton have won three of their last four visits to The Emirates in all competitions.

    Marc Skinner reacts
When speaking to BBC Sport, the Man Utd boss said: “We switch off in one moment, there’s space for Sam [Kerr] to run in to which we haven’t given her all game.
“I’m proud of the girls today, they are hungry. Their position is what we want to take. We are a young, hungry team.
“I need to find the pieces to make sure we challenge all the time.
“Chelsea have done hardly anything in the game, but they are winners for a reason, they find that tiny little gap.
“I want to thank all the fans, they have been magnificent. We won’t dwell on this, it fuels us. We watch this [Chelsea celebrate] – this will be us in future.”

    Emma Hayes reacts
When speaking to BBC Sport, the Chelsea manager said: “We’ve played here more times that Stamford Bridge! Yes it’s home.
“You can’t underestimate the game accumulation, we looked so tired in the first half. We had to kick each other at half time.
“We know how to stay in a game and even if we weren’t at our best we have to work out how to change it. We had to possess the ball better and then find the quality in the final third.
“It’s a coaches nightmare. We don’t do the kick off properly and then the first, second and third phases were all off.
“I’ve got to get them home tonight. They know the bus is leaving at 9pm and it will leave with them all on. The players deserve credit.
“Sam Kerr is priceless but let’s credit Pernille. We know we needed more stretching runs. I almost made the change at half time but I held off to see who might be tired.”

    Pernille Harder reacts
When speaking to BBC Sport, the Chelsea midfielder said: “It’s amazing to win titles. A full Wembley is amazing.
“Of course, it’s sad when you are out for so long [with an injury] but you come back with motivation and hunger. It’s amazing to come back for this game and be involved in a win.
“Chelsea means a lot to me. I’ve had so many great memories here.”

    Sam Kerr reacts
When speaking to BBC Sport, the Chelsea striker said: “I think it’s the sign of a great team, we didn’t have our best game but we pushed through. Everyone stuck at it and we got the win.
“P [Pernille Harder] did amazing, the team did amazing. I’d be wrong to say it was all me.
“I’m just lucky to be the number nine in this great team.
“A lot of people have been asking for it [the back flip celebration] – I text my friend and said back flip incoming today.”

All eyes on you – Arsenal…
It’s a huge day in the title race today, and after Manchester City got the win against Everton in this game our attention now turns to Arsenal who face off against Brighton at The Emirates.
This is how the title race looks right now, before that game kicks off:

    Manchester City – P-35, GD-61, PTS 85
    Arsenal – P35, GD-44, PTS 81

A win for Arsenal would see them again just one point behind Manchester City, so they will be hoping that City slip up at some point over the next three games.
Here is a reminder of the run in for both sides:

That is all from us on this one, but keep up to date with how Arsenal are getting on with our live blog of their game against Brighton here.
    Full-time stats
This is how the match stats look at full-time, after we saw Manchester City dispatch Everton away from home.
It was a dominant performance by the visitors in the end, after a tough first half an hour, and that was reflected in the scoreline…
The full-time match stats between Everton and Manchester City
    Man of the match:
The prestigious SunSport man of the match award today could only really go to one man.
Ilkay Gundogan was sensational for the Cityzens, just as he was against Leeds United last weekend, and has been for most of this season.
His first goal is worthy of being hung in “The Loov” as fellow goalscorer Erling Haaland would say, it consisted of a gorgeous first touch and a no-look finish that most number 9’s would struggle to score.
He then set up Haaland in a flash double for City that put the game out of Everton’s control, before stroking home a free-kick.
It was a brace that was better to watch than most hat-tricks, and Silky Ilkay has cemented his time as a Premier League all-timer this season.
    What a player.
Ilkay Gundogan scored a brace and was awarded Man of the Match against EvertonCredit: Reuters
    FT. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Full-time here at Goodison Park, and what a game we saw.
Manchester City extend their Premier League winning run to eleven games, and Erling Haaland scored yet again to make it 36 Premier League goals this season.
One step closer to another league title for Manchester City.
    90+2. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Ruben Dias is being replaced now by Sergio Gomez.
It’s the rest of the day off for the Portuguese centre-half on his 26th birthday.
    90. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
There will be four additional minutes at the end of this one.
    88. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Kalvin Phillips is on in replacement of Rodri for the visitors.
He is yet to set the world alight in a sky blue shirt, but like many players his time will come…
    86. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Everton hook the ball into the middle towards Tarkowski, and look to be applying some pressure late on in this one.
They just don’t seem to be able to put the ball in the back of the net, which is probably a large reason of why they are where they are in the league table.
    84. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Rodri drives through the Everton midfield, but his pass is poor and too far ahead of Jack Grealish.
    82. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Special mention to the Manchester City faithful here at Goodison Park, singing my favourite chant of the season.
It’s their rendition of Everywhere by Fleetwood Mac – “Awooooo, I’ll follow you everywhere!”
    80. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
You have to feel for the Everton defence.
Seeing Haaland and Gundogan leave the pitch would bring you a sigh of relief, but then on come Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva.
    Nightmare.
    77. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Here is the Manchester City change, it is a double change at that.
Bernardo Silva comes on for Ilkay Gundogan and Jack Grealish comes on for Erling Haaland.
    77. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Another change for Everton, as Demarai Gray comes on in replacement of James Garner.
Manchester City are lining up a change too…
    75. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Mahrez gets away down the right hand side, and crosses the ball towards Erling Haaland who looks destined to score.
Pickford then clatters into Haaland, and the England number one has maybe got away with one there.
    73. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Dwight McNeil gives away a foul on Riyad Mahrez this time, which just eases the pressure for Manchester City, who will want to keep a clean sheet here.
    70. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Everton have got some encouragement from Manchester City taking it somewhat easy the past few minutes or so.
Akanji and Maupay go shoulder to shoulder, and the Frenchman is fuming that he hasn’t got a free-kick out of that.
    67. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
    Everton hit the bar!
The corner is cleared by Ederson, though not convincingly and Everton will have another corner.
This one is far more threatening and Tarkowski heads it onto the crossbar after a touch from the Brazilian goalkeeper.
    66. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
McNeil lines up a shot from distance, but it is blocked by Ruben Dias for another Everton corner…
    64. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Could we see a few Manchester City changes coming in the coming moments?
Erling Haaland and Ilkay Gundogan would be the obvious players that Pep would want to rest for the huge Real Madrid clash on Wednesday.
    62. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Doucoure does well initially to put the pressure on the Manchester City defence, but eventually fouls Manuel Akanji.
    60. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Onana and Iwobi combine well on the left hand side, and win a corner for The Toffees.
The subs seem to have livened the game up a bit.
The corner causes some panic for Ederson, but City are eventually able to clear.
    58. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Everton have shifted to a back five now it seems, and it might be a matter of damage limitation for them now.
Goal difference could be vital for them this season in terms of staying in the Premier League.
    54. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
    Double substitution for Everton.
Idrissa Gueye and Mason Holgate are swapped for Amadou Onana and Conor Coady.
    52. Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Another free-kick for Manchester City here on the edge of the box, this time Riyad Mahrez strikes it against the wall and it will be a Manchester City corner.
    50. GOAL! Everton 0-3 Manchester City
Ilkay Gundogan scores from the free-kick!
Him and Mahrez are stood over the ball, but it is the German who whips the ball over the wall and it floats into the back of the net.
That is four goals in two games for Gundogan.
    Incredible.

    Call out
Something strange happened after Deji’s fight when Pineda appeared in the middle of the ring.
The lights went out and The Undertaker’s music started playing.
Once the lights returned, the Mexican crowd favourite was stood in the middle of the ring.
And, for some reason, he decided to challenge the loser of the bout Swarmz instead of Deji.
    Deji’s thoughts
“My confidence in the ring has grown. I was having fun out there. It was an amazing crowd. Everyone that came out and watching at home, thank you.
“I heard Liam Payne is in here. I wouldn’t mind fighting him.“
    ICYMI
Earlier tonight, Deji got back to winning ways with a unanimous points win over Swarmz.
It was his second victory and just the response he was looking for after losing to Floyd Mayweather last time out.

    Was it an elbow?
It looked like it could’ve been an elbow.
KSI refutes that it was an elbow. But he was going to win anyway, let’s be honest.
And the night ends just how we thought it would. With Tommy Fury jumping into the ring and squaring off with KSI.
Both men want the fight, and that should be all that is needed to make it happen this summer.
Tommy Fury was involved in a fight in the crowd on Saturday nightCredit: PA
    It’s over
KSI has knocked out Joe Fournier with a huge punch in the second round.
There was no getting up from that.
The roof nearly came off the Wembley Arena.
    The place is rocking
The fighters are in the ring for the main event.
Kieran Davies is on the call for us and has you covered. CLICK HERE for all the action.
    Fury return
We’ve just seen Tommy Fury return to his seat at ringside after being involved in a brawl earlier.
He’s smiling and posing for photos with fans again. Let’s hope things have diffused over there because it was ugly for a while.
    One bout left
Just the main event to go now – KSI and Joe Fournier are making their final preparations backstage.
    Call out
Pineda called out Swarmz. It’s a bit odd to call out the loser.
He even marched down the ramp to confront Swarmz, who swiftly disappeared backstage.
The Mexican said in the ring: “Swarmz I want the smoke, vamos b***h.”
    What just happened?
Ok, we just had a mental moment in here.
The lights in Wembley Arena went out for a few moments and it looked like a power cut.
But then The Undertaker’s music began playing.
And when the lights came back on – Pineda was in the ring.
    Deji says
“My confidence in the ring has grown. I was having fun out there. It was an amazing crowd. Everyone that came out and watching at home, thank you.
“I heard Liam Payne is in here. I wouldn’t mind fighting him.”
    Back on top
Deji back to winning ways after his defeat against Floyd Mayweather earlier this year.
That’s his second pro win and we hope to hear from him shortly on his plans.
    .Credit: PA
    Deji wins
    It’s a unanimous decision, 40-36, 40-36 and 39-37 on the scorecards.
    Ding, ding, ding
It’s over. We go to the scorecards.
Deji looks to have done enough here to win on points. Swarmz had some moments but they were few and far between.
We’re about to find out on the scorecards.
    Round three
Better from Swarmz in that round and he had Deji in trouble for a moment.
The better work probably still came from Deji there.
Three rounds down, one to go.
    .Credit: Getty
    Round two
Huge roars as Deji backs Swarmz into the corner.
He really took control of this fight in the second round and looks too good for Swarmz.
It must be said, Swarmz looks in better shape and a lot better than when he fought KSI in Misfits 001 last August.
    End of the first
A tight and tense start. I’d probably give Deji the edge in that opening round.
He is the smaller man but the aggressor for sure.
Swarmz is on the back foot and looking to invite his man on but not really doing enough when they engage.
    Seconds out
    We’re underway – round one!
    The intros
Swarmz is being booed as his name is read out to the crowd.
Deji, meanwhile, looks cool, calm and collected in his purple shorts with blue trim as he’s introduced.
We’re just about ready to go.
    Dressed to impress
Swarmz is dressed in a white robe with blue trim on his way to the ring.
Next up is Deji, and he’s getting a huge ovation from the crowd.
    Here we go
Swarmz is on his way to the ring.
We’re just about ready for tonight’s chief support.
    While we wait
It’s been a bit rowdy at ringside in here tonight.
First boxer Isaac Lowe was seen being dragged away from ringside by security with a ripped shirt.
And just now, Tommy Fury and Idris Virgo had a brawl which needed to be broken up.
    Next up
Anthony Taylor has got the win over Salt Papi by unanimous decision in a bit of an upset.
Up next is Deji vs Swarmz.
    Where we’re at
The fourth bout of the evening between Anthony Taylor and Salt Papi is currently in progress.
We’re just headed into round number three.
Next up is our fight between Deji and Swarmz.
    Swarmz story so far
Swarmz is getting into the ring for just the third time tonight.
He also fought on the first Misfits card last August in London, where he was easily beaten by KSI.
The Londoner got his first win when he beat Ryan Taylor at this Wembley Arena venue last time out.
That victory came back in January, on the undercard of KSI’s last Misfits PPV event.
