    That’s all from Burnley
Manchester City beat Burnley 3-0 in their Premier League opener after another dominant display thanks to a brace by Erling Haaland.
Haaland netted the first Prem goal of the season after just four minutes following a set-piece.
Rodri headed the ball to the Clarets’ area from the left and the striker tapped it to the back of James Trafford’s net with ease.
The Norway international doubled the visitors’ lead on 36 minutes when Kyle Walker delivered a low cross from the right and found Julian Alvarez who set his star team-mate up.
Haaland then fired a curling left-footed effort that hit the crossbar before ending up behind Trafford’s net.
But it wasn’t smooth sailing for Pep Guardiola’s side as Kevin De Bruyne hobbled off with another injury and was replaced by the debuting Matteo Kovacic, who was later joined by Josko Gvardiol in the second half.
Guardiola and Haaland also had a bit of a spat at half-time and the former slapped a camera that caught the exchange.
City tripled their lead with another set-piece as Phil Foden’s free-kick led to chaos in the Clarets’ defence and Rodri scored from close range on 75 minutes.
Things got worse for Burnley as Anass Zaroury was sent off with a straight red card after a VAR check proved he caught Walker from behind with his studs.

    Guardiola on De Bruyne injury
Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola hinted Kevin De Bruyne suffered the same hamstring injury he sustained in last season’s Champions League Final.
Unfortunately he is injured again. He said to me it’s a problem in the same position as the Champions League.
He recovered well but now we’ve lost him for a time. We have to reflect and talk to the doctors and the physios.
He has to be relaxed, recover and come back. He was feeling really good.Pep GuardiolaSky Sports

    Haaland on Pep spat
Manchester City manager Erling Haaland opened up about his half-time exchange with manager Pep Guardiola.
Haaland revealed he was upset after Bernardo Silva didn’t play him in and Guardiola disciplined him because of his reaction.
It was because of the last action when Bernardo [Silva] didn’t play me in – he [Pep] was a bit mad at me.
Everyone sees I’m developing my game. I try my best every day – it’s a pleasure to work with Pep, I don’t know if there is anyone better for a young player as I’m still young, don’t forget.
I just have to enjoy the chaos around me and perform on the pitch.Erling HaalandSky Sports

    Another Haaland record
Manchester City superstar Erling Haaland scored a brace against Burnley.
Haaland became only the second player to net at least twice in a team’s opening game of a Premier League season in consecutive seasons.
The star striker also did the same with a brace against West Ham last season.
The only one else to achieve that is Chelsea legend Didier Drogba in the 2009-2010 season against Hull as well as the 2010-2011 campaign when he scored a hat-trick against West Brom.

    Burton 0 Leicester 2
Relegated Leicester avoided suffering from Brewers’ drop as Enzo Maresca’s new look team earned a trip to Tranmere – with Kelechi Iheanacho showing the gulf in class thanks to a sensational opener.
The Foxes squeezed the home defence with a high press to win back possession and Dennis Praet set up the cross for skipper Marc Albrighton.
Kelechi Iheanacho delivers a deft opener for the FoxesCredit: Rex
His delicate cenre into the heart of the Burton box caught defenders Jake Caprice and John Brayford busy ball-watching, allowing Iheanacho to ghost between them.
On the plus side, they had a perfect view of Iheanacho’s magical finish as the Nigerian conjured up a mid-air backheel volley with his back to goal to leave ‘keeper Jamal Blackman gasping.
Classy or just plain cocky, it set the tone as Burton were forced to chase shadows for most of the night.
Dino Maamria’s boys hung on grimly and almost snatched an equaliser on 45 minutes when Ryan Sweeney’s header was hurtling towards the net until Callum Doyle stuck out a leg to clear.
Leicester’s response was swift, slick and merciless as Doyle then played a quick free kick which caught Burton napping.
Iheanacho sprinted clear and drew Blackman from his goal before setting up Wilfred Ndidi who expertly found the top corner to double the Foxes’ advantage in first-half stoppage time.
Burton’s 6ft 7″ goalie Blackman did well after the break to prevent Rekeem Harper from finding his own net from close range. Then Harry Winks fired a volley into a yellow wall of Burton defenders before departing to an ovation from his new Foxes fans.
Spurs fans keenest for a trophy push
Fulham vs Tottenham in the South and Nottingham Forest vs Burnley in the North are the all-Prem ties lighting up the second-round draw.
And ironically it’s fans of Spurs – one of the Big Six clubs, traditionally at least – who seem most keen on their side fielding as close to a full-strength side as possible.
That’s because Tottenham are trophyless for 15 years.
In contrast, Forest and Burnley supporters are far more focused on staying up in the Premier League.
    Dons joy at bagging Blues
AFC Wimbledon fans are ecstatic at their reward for a late 2-1 comeback win over Championship side Coventry.
The League Two team will visit posh Prem neighbours Chelsea in the Carabao Cup second round.
“Get in, what a night that will be,” said one.
“Oh my god” and “unreal” were two responses.
And in a similar vein: “What a draw,” and “It’s happening”.

‘Things are about to get tasty, baby’
A Wrexham fan has labelled their manager’s second-round clash with old club Bradford as “When Parky vs Sparky”.
Phil Parkinson’s EFL new boys will take on League Two rivals Bradford, managed by Manchester United legend Mark ‘Sparky’ Hughes.
One supporter posted: “Vs Parkinson in the League Cup? Behave.”
Upbeat Dragons’ supporters added: “Round 3 here we come!” and “Sold out”
Wrexham’s Hollywood A-list owner Ryan Reynolds is of course well used to drama.
But one sensitive fan sounded like he might not be able to take Reynolds’ movies like Deadpool – judging by his reaction to the draw.
He wrote: “Thank God its not Cardiff my heart couldn’t handle that.”
But another supporter treated the pairing vs Bradford with a line worthy of the next Deadpool film: “Things are about to get tasty baby.”
Spurs fans beg Ange to take Fulham seriously
Tottenham fans are begging new boss Ange Postecoglou to take the Carabao Cup “seriously” after a “damn tough draw” at Prem rivals Fulham.
Frustrated Spurs supporters last enjoyed silverware with 2008 EFL Cup glory.
And one pleaded after tonight’s second-round draw: “Take. It. Serious.”
A second wrote: “Hopefully we take this competition seriously.”
A third sounded fired up for the derby: “Local game, places to play for.”
But a pessimistic fourth fan posted: “Damn tough draw early on.”

Chelsea fans nervous after drawing Dons
Chelsea fans seemed to react with as much fear as joy after the Prem giants drew League Two ‘neighbours’ AFC Wimbledon in round two.
Fear – because they believe defeat would leave new boss Mauricio Pochettino with red faces.
Joy (for a few supporters) – as they reckon it gives Poch an excellent kickstart in his bid for silverware.
Representing the nervous side, one fan posted: “If we somehow lose this, we are never going to hear the end of it from rival fans.”
And on the positive front were messages like this: “Easy win” and “We can rotate”.
A more practical note was sounded by this supporter: “We go hard for this. It’s a must win.”
    O’Neill having a ball…
Fans couldn’t believe Martin O’Neill’s antics as he did the draw.
The ex-Leicester boss appeared to talk to the balls rather than the microphone as he helped pick the second-round ties.
“So funny!” said one viewer,” and “What is he doing?!” asked MORE than one other.

    Giant-Gillers again?
First-round “giantkillers” Gillingham have an intriguing trip to Prem newcomers Luton.
The Gills deservedly beat Championship side Southampton 3-1 last night.
So they must fancy their chances again as the Hatters are likely to rest players.

That’s all from the Brisbane Stadium
England book their place in the quarter-finals in dramatic fashion with a 4-2 win on penalties following a 0-0 draw with Nigeria.
It was far from their best performance, but the Lionesses battled hard to overcome a very well-organised team.
They now face either Jamaica or Columbia in the next round, which is set to take place this Saturday at 11:30am BST.
Until then, thank you for reading!
    More worry for Walsh
Keira Walsh was accompanied by two England physios as she left the pitch towards the end of the match.
The midfielder has only just recovered from her knee injury, so there are now some potential doubts surrounding her availability for the next match.

Wiegman reacts to James’ red card
“It was a moment of a split second. It was later in the game so players get tired.
“She’s inexperienced on this stage and had done well but she lost her emotions. She doesn’t want to hurt anyone. She’s the sweetest person I know.
“Things happen like that and you can’t change it anymore. It’s a huge lesson to learn but it’s not something she really did on purpose. I’ve spoken to her. I just said, ‘That happens sometimes with human beings’.
“You’re in such an intense game, such an emotional game and in a split second she lost her emotions. Of course, she apologised and feels really, really bad. She doesn’t want to hurt anyone.”

    ‘Lauren is magic’
We all know Lauren is magic, she is our weapon and it’s a big loss for us but we can’t change that now.
We have an unbelievable squad and players who can fill in in that position and hopefully we can see her again in the tournament.”Bethany Englandon James’ red card
    Sarina Wiegman reacts
Speaking to BBC Sport, the England boss said: “We stuck together as a team. It was a very, very hard game and we had a red card.
“We made it through to extra-time and won the penalties. We did that as a team. We kept going. I’m so proud of them.
“It’s a game where emotions are really high, the intensity is so high and it happened in a split second.
“She [Lauren James] got a red card but I haven’t seen it back yet. Those things are also [down to] experience.
“It says so much about the character of our team [to hold on and win on pens]. I’m so proud of them.
“We said before it would not be an easy game, they’re very physical, and tactically difficult. That’s what we saw. We made it through and I’m so happy.”

Chloe Kelly’s penalty clocked at 110.79km/h – which would’ve been the fastest goal of the tournament so far, but those in penalty shootouts do not count towards the official standings.

    England set to miss James
Lauren James is set to miss at least one match due to the red card she received today.
The Chelsea star was sent off for stepping on the back of Michelle Alozie in the 87 minute.
The challenge is now expected to be reviewed by FIFA officials, who could choose to extend the suspension to two or three games due to violent conduct.

“Obviously I’m just happy that we got the job done in the end, and yeah, onto the next.
“I think all the wins are significant, it’s just obviously about trying to get as far in the competition as you possibly can.
“I think Nigeria played really, really well. I don’t think we were at our best and then we went down to 10 and it was a really tough game for us.
“But I’m just buzzing that we got the job done.”

“Once I win that mental battle, we’re good.”
On scoring another winning goal, she added: “Nah, [it’s] definitely not [about me]. It’s the team.
“We did in the Euros, we did it in the Finalissima and we did it again here. We keep pushing forward.

Full Time – England 4-2 Nigeria (0-0 AET)
Nigeria must be commended for their outstanding performance today.
The Super Falcons executed their game plan to perfection, limiting England’s attacking trio of Lauren Hemp, Alessia Russo and Lauren James when each of them were on the ball.
Their player-to-player approach saw England create just 12 attempts at goal – only four of which were on target.
Randy Waldrum and his side can be very proud of that display against the European champions.

    Aaron Ramsdale reacts
Arsenal star Aaron Ramsdale revealed the Community Shield triumph was a result of a “two-year” plan.
We worked hard on it. We’ve been working hard for two years.
We haven’t had luck which was probably needed in previous seasons. We’ve stuck at it. It’s worked today.
City are a bit behind their pre-season. For us, it’s a statement. It’s a marker to know we can go and beat Man City in a big game when it matters.
I’m not sure what it’ll be like this season. But that mental block is gone. We’re ready to push on now.Aaron Ramsdale
    Declan Rice reacts
Arsenal star Declan Rice revealed this is how he “visioned” the beginning of his Emirates stint when he joined for a record £105million.
I am buzzing, this is what I visioned when I joined. City gave us what we expected, but I am buzzing – so happy.
You have to have the patience against them, you have to have mini games within the game against them like the manager said to us before. To win today, my first for the club.
I feel I’ve grown a lot in the last three weeks. There’s a lot of information to take in of what the manager wants. I’m eager to learn and keep improving.
I’m sure we can achieve anything this season – we just need to remain focused.Declan Rice
Gaffer eases pain of last season
Mikel Arteta went some way today to react to the pain of missing out on the Premier League title last season.
While the win will not got rid of the scars, it gets his side over any mental block of not thinking they can go all the way.
The Spanish manager will be hoping this is just the first of the silverware this season has to bring.

Rice has the Midas touch for medals
Declan Rice has won two trophies in his last two games.
Firstly winning the Europe Conference League in his final game for West Ham at the end of last season, then winning the Community Shield in his first game for Arsenal.
Life cannot get much sweeter for the England midfielder right now, although he may be running out of space in his trophy cabinet at home.

    Gunners shoot down champions
Mikel Arteta has always struggled to get one over his old employers.
Learning his trade under the tutorship of Pep Guardiola, the apprentice has come out on top at Wembley today.

    City lose invincible treble feeling
It was only a few months ago that Man City were on cloud nine.
They had won the treble and felt anything was possible and nobody could beat them.
Say what you want about the Community Shield, this will hurt and leave Man City feeling more than beatable.
Pep Guardiola will have to pick his side up from this and look to bounce back in style.

    Ramsdale answers critics in style
While his manager was working to bring in David Raya from Brentford, Aaron Ramsdale was focussed on getting on with his job.
Today, he proved his worth, making two crucial saves from Phil Foden and Rodri to keep The Gunners in the game at 1-0 down.
He then went on to become the hero as he saved Rodri’s penalty to put his side one penalty away from winning the Community Shield.

Arsenal finally get their hands on silverware
If you win it, it’s an important trophy and this one will be used as a springboard for Arsenal’s season this campaign.
All seemed lost as they headed into added time, but The Gunners managed to do the unthinkable and dent the confidence of rivals Man City in the process.
You can see how much it means to these players, they want to get that winning mentality, starting with the Community Shield.

    Time to Partey for Arsenal
While all the talk this summer was the signing of Declan Rice and how he will play with Martin Odegaard, it was one of the old guard who starred today.
Thomas Partey covered so much ground in the middle of the park, he stopped Man City’s midfielders controlling the game.
Sometimes the hard work isn’t the prettiest but Partey did an important job for Mikel Arteta’s side today.

FT: Arsenal 1-1 Man City (4-1 on penalties)

Not sure Trossard will keep that goal as it took a massive deflection off Akanji, wrong-footing Ortega.
There may still be time for a winner, nobody knows how long is left now.
