    Little to separate familiar foes
After sharing the points at the Etihad Stadium, there is barely anything between the sides in the Premier League.
Man City remain top of the table on 29 points, with Liverpool hot on their heels on 28 points.
Their positions may change as Arsenal and Tottenham both have the chance to capitalise from the draw, but Liverpool will take confidence from ending Guardiola’s side 100% record at home this season.

Trent shows his worth to Klopp
If anyone ever doubted the form of the Liverpool right-back, he stuck to his role today, trying to keep Doku quiet for the hosts.
When the chance presented itself, he looked to support his side’s attacks and offer options for Salah down the right wing.
Even getting himself into the box to try and create and score himself, Alexander-Arnold showed why he is so highly rated in Manchester today.

    Guardiola frustrated with Liverpool draw
Pep Guardiola will feel his side did more than enough today to take all three points at the Etihad Stadium.
Dominating possession and having more chances than Jurgen Klopp’s side, they could not put the game to bed.
At this level, one-nil is a dangerous scoreline and the visitors punished them for not getting that second goal.

Klopp shows his side’s inner strength
At a ground where Liverpool often struggle, they showed their grit today by digging deep and ensuring Man City were not able to get that second goal.
As a result, it left the game on a knife edge and after Alexander-Arnold’s superb strike, changed the whole complexion of the game.
Guardiola will feel that this is two points dropped but for the visitors, it is a result that should inspire confidence for the season ahead.

    FT: Man City 1-1 Liverpool
As the game finished and the players and mangers shook hands, something seemed to happen between Guardiola and Nunez.
The pair went to shake hands and the Man City manager seemed to react to something.
Klopp acted peacemaker as he looked to defuse the situation and get his striker into the dressing room.
That fiery South American temper eh.
    FT: Man City 1-1 Liverpool
Trent Alexander-Arnold is awarded the man of the match award.
He dealt with the threat of Jeremy Doku throughout the game and scored the goal to get his side a point.
When a ball drops to a right back on the edge of the box, it rarely threatens, but this one is has the skills to pay the bills when it comes to shooting and passing.

    FT: Man City 1-1 Liverpool
The referee brings the game to a close, the points are shared.
Man City’s sequence of home wins comes to an end.
Guardiola and Nunez have a coming together after the final whistle.
    Man City 1-1 Liverpool
90+8. Liverpool have made all their changes but Alisson seems to be struggling with a hamstring issue.
Man City have a corner in the dying embers of this game.
Alvarez crosses and Haaland flicks it on, going just wide of the far post.
    Man City 1-1 Liverpool
90+6. Foden looks to swing a ball into the back post.
It goes over the head of Silva and once again Doku is not attacking the space in behind him.
Liverpool are happy to see it go out harmlessly for a goal kick.
    Man City 1-1 Liverpool
90+4. This game is on a knife edge now.
A goal by either side would definitely win this game now.
Neither team wants to make a mistake to give away what they have worked so hard for.
    Credit: Reuters
    Man City 1-1 Liverpool
90+2. You have to wonder where they get this added time from.
They seem to pluck these numbers out of thin air.
Certainly cannot think of anywhere near that sort of level of stoppages in this game.
    Man City 1-1 Liverpool
    90. Man City’s making the most out of challenges come back to bite them as Akanji stays down holding his head.
The referee stops Man City’s attack to make sure the player is okay.
Replays show there was barely any contact on the City defender and he immediately leaps back to his feet, making a miraculous recovery.
We are going to have eight additional minutes added.
    Man City 1-1 Liverpool
    88. The ball is swung in by Bernardo Silva but Endo heads it over for a corner.
Alisson catches the cross before he is bundled over the line by Akanji.
It seems a more clear-cut foul than the previous one.
    Man City 1-1 Liverpool
    86. This will be a big end to the game for the visitors now.
Having worked hard to get back into this game, they cannot do anything silly now.
Doku wins a free kick on the edge of the box, the replay shows this one was a foul however.
Matip is booked for the challenge.
    Man City 1-1 Liverpool
    84. The free kick is headed clear by the wall.
Liverpool cannot clear their lines and City come back at them.
They finally manage to counter but Ake beats Gakpo to the loose ball.
Elliott and Endo come on for Nunez and Mac Allister.
    Credit: Reuters
    Man City 1-1 Liverpool
    82. Akanji goes down under the challenge of Gakpo.
It is a clumsy challenge by the Liverpool man.
Chance for Man City to test Alisson in the Liverpool goal.
    Man City 1-1 Liverpool
    80. Diaz plays a ball towards the back post which Salah collects.
He lays it off into the path of Alexander-Arnold on the edge of the box.
Taking one touch to control it, he strikes a shot across Ederson into the bottom corner.
    Big goal for the visitors.
    Goal – Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool)
    Man City 1-0 Liverpool
    78. Foden goes down as he receives a stray arm in the face.
The replay shows there was barely any contact but the Man City player went down like Deontay Wilder had nailed him.
It is about time the Premier League started doing something about this simulation.
More likely to win an Oscar than a Ballon D’Or.
    Man City 1-0 Liverpool
    76. Darwin Nunez is penalised for a foul on Phil Foden.
It produces the first yellow card of the game for the pull on the Man City player.
Alvarez whips the ball in, Haaland flicks it on, but it is well over the crossbar.
    Credit: Reuters
    Man City 1-0 Liverpool
    74. Gakpo jojns the game, replacing Szoboszlai for the visitors.
It seems a more attacking move for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
Man City are still making it difficult for Liverpool to play in between the lines.
    Man City 1-0 Liverpool
    72. The ball is swung in by Alexander-Arnold.
Again it is all too easy for the Man City keeper.
Liverpool’s dead-ball delivery has been poor today.
    Man City 1-0 Liverpool
    70. Liverpool need to start imposing themselves on this game more.
The ball is crossed and Nunez meets it at the near post.
Ederson makes the save at the expense of a corner.

    Man City 1-0 Liverpool

    68. Big let off for Alisson in the Liverpool goal.
He seemed to make a hash of the corner but the review agrees with the referee that he was impeded by Akanji.
Mac Allister is penalised for foul on Alvarez but the replay shows the Man City player went down easier than a submarine.
Minimal if any contact at all.

Which three teams will make it to the finals in Germany next summer?
    Wales vs Finland
Wales missed out on automatic qualification after finishing third in their group – four points behind second-placed Croatia.
But they are unbeaten in four competitive matches so they could be quietly confident they can reach a third successive major tournament.
They will also be encouraged by the fact they are unbeaten in their four previous meetings with Finland dating back to 2013.
However Markku Kanerva’s side have won six of their last nine matches and recently thrashed Northern Ireland 4-0.
    Wales to face Finland

    Are the play-offs new?
There have been play-offs for six of the last seven Euros.
The Euro 2020 play-offs offered a different format.
For the first time, teams had to come through more than one round and, unlike all previous editions, sides qualified to participate via the Nations League, rather than the European qualifiers.

    That’s all from us
Thank you for joining our coverage of England’s clash against North Macedonia.
The Uefa Euro 2024 final tournament draw takes place on December 2.
    Kane on debutant Lewis
Harry Kane was also left impressed by England debutant Rico Lewis.
I thought he was really good with and without the ball.
A shame for the penalty but he can be proud, I thought he was fantastic.
He just needs to keep working hard and I’m sure he will be back with us.Harry KaneChannel 4
    Kane ‘proud’ of qualifying campaign
Despite lacklustre results against Malta and now North Macedonia, Harry Kane has insisted that he is “proud” of England’s unbeaten qualifying campaign.
Difficult game, we knew it would be and it was tough against a decent side playing on a pitch that’s difficult to play our style of football.
We went 1-0 behind against the run of play with a soft penalty. It was good to get on the pitch, I’m always trying to help the team whether it is 90 minutes or 10 minutes. It was important for us to get a goal back and a shame we couldn’t get a second.
I think it was an own goal, pretty sure. If anyone was going to get a second it was us.
Against Malta we were sloppy on the ball, today we got a bit of a sucker-punch with the counter-attack and a soft penalty. We were playing against a team that people expected us to beat five or six nil, but they did a job on Italy in the World Cup qualifiers to knock them out.
We can be really proud of how the qualifying campaign has gone.Harry KaneChannel 4
‘A great birthday present’ – Lewis
Rico Lewis was left smiling after making his England debut just hours before his 19th birthday.
He told Channel 4: “Overall I am very happy. The result was unfortunate and the decision that went against me.
“I am so happy to have made my debut before my birthday it is a lovely present.”
    Walker on result
Kyle Walker has claimed that Rico Lewis was on the end of an “unfair” decision.
He told Channel 4: “It was always going to be tough to come here.
“We dug in and we got a point. We wanted three but things happen in football that I don’t think are fair.
“I think Rico got an unfair decision tonight.”
‘Lack of options for Southgate’ – Upson
Matthew Upson has claimed that Gareth Southgate was left with little option but to bring on Harry Kane against North Macedonia.
He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “Gareth Southgate would have been looking at the game at one nil down and thinking ‘I don’t want a loss on our qualifying record’, certainly not in this game.
“The one obvious switch is Harry Kane. Can you bring him on in another role to accomodate others such as Ollie Watkins for him to have more game time?
“Well then you would be watering down the effectiveness of the best striker in the world.
“I don’t think he had much of an option.”

More reaction to the penalty call
Former England players commented on the controversial decision.
Chelsea legend John Terry wrote: “Oh my word… How is that a penalty?”
England icon Gary Lineker said: “It’s not important in the slightest, but that’s the most ridiculous penalty decision.”
While ex-Liverpool star Jamie Carragher said: “Bizarre these VAR penalties that get given in Europe. What’s more bizarre is they didn’t give the one against Maguire 😂.”
    England player ratings
Check out our player ratings here.
Harry Kane scored the highest marks thanks to his instant impact in the match.
However, Ollie Watkins was the lowest scorer as he struggled to flourish.

    Elsewhere in Group C
Italy have qualified for Euro 2024 thanks to their record against Ukraine.
The holders could only manage a 0-0 draw against Ukraine but it is enough to get them on the plane to Germany.
    FT – North Macedonia 1 England 1
Indeed it was as the referee blows for full time.
Another uninspiring performance from England, but they made sure to finish as top seeds for the draw for Euro 2024 and unbeaten in qualifying.
    North Macedonia 1 England 1
    95. Chance for Kane, but he can not get any accuracy on his header as it goes for a goal kick.
Probably the last chance in the match.
    North Macedonia 1 England 1
    93. England hurrying North Macedonia along as they try to get the ball back and find the winner.
    North Macedonia 1 England 1
    90. Marcus Rashford flashes a free-kick wide. Looked better before the replays.
    North Macedonia 1 England 1
    90. There will be six added minutes, can England find a winner?
    North Macedonia 1 England 1
    85. Awkward moment for Pickford as Maguire’s backpass has plenty on it.
The goalkeeper is able to boot it clear, just about.
    North Macedonia 1 England 1
    83. Triple change for England, Phillips, Palmer and Rashford are on.
Grealish, Saka and Alexander-Arnold are off.

    81. England have a free kick in the attacking half after Grealish was fouled.
Maguire gets on the cross from Foden and heads goalwards, but the whistle is blown for a push.
    North Macedonia 1 England 1
    77. England struggling to break down the hosts at the moment.
The frustration almost cost the Three Lions as Guehi tried forcing a ball only for it to get intercepted.
    North Macedonia 1 England 1
    70. 20 minutes to go and England are looking more likely to get a winner.
    North Macedonia 1 England 1
    68. Confirmation has come through that the goal has been credited as an own goal by Atanasov.
    North Macedonia 1 England 1
    66. The hosts are not done yet as they are still looking to hurt England on the break.
So far Southgate’s men have dealt with them, but they can’t switch off if they want to maintain an unbeaten 2023.
    North Macedonia 1 England 1
    61. Bit of handbags between Grealish and Elmas after the Englishman was fouled on the edge of the box.
    North Macedonia 1 England 1
    60. England have looked a lot more fluid this half and are putting on pressure as they search for the go-ahead goal.
    GOAL – North Macedonia 1 England 1
    58. GOALLLLLLLLLLL HARRY KANE!
Kane scores with his first touch of the ball to drag England level.

Red Bull drivers to wear wacky outfits for Las Vegas GP
For Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, they will be hoping for A Little Less conversation and a little more action at the Las Vegas Grand Prix.
And whoever comes out on top might be All Shook Up by the result.
That’s because the Red Bull drivers are set to wear Elvis-inspired suits, when they take to the track at the Las Vegas Grand Prix on Saturday evening.
Called the ‘Viva Las Vegas Suit’, after the King’s famous hit, there will be two versions – one in red, one in white.
Both feature signature star details on the trousers in homage to the Hound Dog star.
“As we gear up for the first ever Grand Prix in Las Vegas, it’s only fitting that we pay tribute to the most prolific Las Vegas icon, Elvis Presley,” Red Bull’s Team Principal Christian Horner said.
“Elvis left his mark on Vegas and the world, becoming synonymous with the glitz, the flash, and the energy of the strip, something we are hoping to replicate as we take to the track on Saturday night.”

Welcome to SunSport’s live blog of the Las Vegas Grand Prix!
Charles Leclerc will start on pole in Sin City after a superb qualifying performance.
The 26-year-old’s Ferrari teammate Carlos Sainz finished just behind him in qualifying but will be forced to start the race in 12th after a 10-place grid penalty.
