LOCKDOWN last year was kind to Manchester City star Bernardo Silva.
Silva, 26, will have fond memories of the first lockdown last March as the UK battled to stop the spread of coronavirus.

The pair snuggled down together in Portugal in a huge countryside home – just an hour away from the capital.
There, they ‘Netflix and chilled’ with pals until restrictions were lifted and football returned in the summer.
So who is the beauty that’s stole Bernardo’s heart?

    LISBON LIONESS
Gorgeous Tomaz is believed to be from Lisbon, where Silva was also born and raised.
Unsurprisingly, with her natural good looks she’s a model and regularly shows off her amazing body in several bikini shots on Instagram.

Chelsea legend John Terry’s amazing £4m Ferrari collection, including rare £2m Enzo and 1960s 275 GTB priced at £1.5m

JOHN TERRY has fulfilled his childhood dream by owning a garage full of Ferraris worth around £4million.
The Chelsea legend, linked with the vacant Bournemouth job, loves the Italian brand so much he has several of the classy motors sitting in the garage of his Surrey home.

John Terry boasts a stellar Ferrari car collection

From the incredibly rare Ferrari Enzo (only 400 were ever produced) that’s worth a stonking £2m to the sleek, sophisticated 275 GTB that dates back to the 1960s that can be worth as much as £1,5m, Terry, 38, is a Ferrari aficionado.
And if that’s not enough, his everyday runner is a £170,000 458 Spider.
    FERRARI ENZO – £2m
In 2013, after lifting the Europa League, he splashed out on the iconic Enzo – originally produced in 2002.
It was developed using Formula One technology, has a carbon-fibre body, and can reach a top speed of 221 mph.

The Ferrari Enzo is a limited edition 2003 super car named after its Italian founder.Originally Ferrari only made 399 models but they turned out a 400th for the Pope.

I used to go to a showroom in Surrey, they had Enzos, and the Enzo had been my dream car growing up but could never afford it.”
    John Terry

Terry’s Enzo was a display car at the 2003 Amsterdam Motor Show and it had 4,163 miles on the clock when the ex-England international bought it.
Terry admitted in an interview with Petrolicious that he had always had his eyes on one, and wished he’d been able to buy one sooner.
He said: “I was probably about 20, 21. I used to go to a showroom in Surrey, they had Enzos, and the Enzo had been my dream car growing up but could never afford it.
“It’s one of those things on the bucket list. Unfortunately, they were a lot cheaper back then as well. Wish I’d have bought one back then.
“I just loved the look and the limited availability of stuff like the Enzo. Not many on the road, one gets crashed per year as well, so they’re going down.

“It was an investment as well for the sake of the kids and stuff like that, but just loved to look at the Enzo and the classic cars. I love it.”

Terry has Ferraris including an Enzo and 275 GTB

The Ferrari Enzo is said to be worth a staggering £2m
    FERRARI 275 GTB – £1.5m
If you had money, and you lived in the swinging ’60s, the 275 GTB was one of the best cars on the market.
And in popular culture the model became iconic when it was bought by ‘King of Cool’ Steve McQueen when he filmed classic movie, Bullitt.
JT showed of his purchase in 2015 on Instagram, that could’ve cost him anything up to £1.5m.
The Aston Villa assistant coach bought the car from dealer Tom Hartley Jr, who has helped him build his Ferrari collection over the years.
“In England. I deal with Tom and he advises me on this stuff,” Terry revealed.
“I’ve had my eye on a couple of his cars for a few years and just decided to take the plunge (on the 275 GTB). I’ve always appreciated it.”
And despite being made a long time ago, the 275 GTB is no slouch either.
It boasts a 0-60 mph time of just over six seconds, which is still faster than most cars today.

    FERRARI 458 SPIDER – £170,000
It’s not a bad every day runner is it?
When Terry wants to go to the shops, he often takes his 458 Spider with him, and why not?
Capable of hitting 0-60 in a staggering 3.3 seconds, it’ll get you where you want to go fast.
And, of course, it doesn’t cheap with a price tag of around £170,000.
Other footballers who love the 458 Spider include Mario Balotelli and Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, who all own one.
Terry invested in the Spider back in 2012, and often travelled to Chelsea’s Cobham training ground in it.

    FERRARI TESTAROSSA – £150,000
Although he hasn’t shared any images of them on social media, Terry’s Ferrari collection also includes a Testarossa (worth £150k in good nick), as made famous by Tom Selleck in Magnum PI, and a Lusso, that today costs around £200k.
But Terry doesn’t just confine himself to supercars, and admittedly does like something a little more comfortable from time to time.
That’s why he’s also been seen over the years driving motors including a Rolls-Royce Wraith (£250k), a Bentley Continental GT (£160k), as well as a special edition gold Range Rover Overfinch (£90k).

“Range Rover, that’s my day to day with the kids, school run and stuff like that,” Terry revealed
“I’ve got the Range Rover for the family, and I’ve obviously got my cars that I love, which is the Enzo.”
When it comes to getting behind the wheel, it’s clear that Terry loves to live life in the fast lane.

Liverpool of Uruguay will be taking part in this year’s Copa Libertadores, following bizarre rule as a result of Covid

Liverpool will be taking part in this year’s Copa Libertadores, South America’s Champions League.
This, of course, has nothing to do with Jurgen Klopp’s red army. There is a club in Uruguay called Liverpool.

Liverpool of Uruguay will be competing in this season’s Copa LibertadoresCredit: AFP – Getty

It was founded over a hundred years ago, when it was fashionable for South Americans to give English names to their clubs – like River Plate in Argentina (there are others around the continent) and Everton in Chile.
The fact that Merseyside is prominent is no coincidence. Liverpool was the main port sending ships back and forth from South America.
The Uruguayan version play in blue and black stripes – though red is one of their change kits – and they will kick off the 2021 Libertadores with a home game against Universidad Catolica of Ecuador on February 23rd.
This would be a good story even if the club were not called Liverpool. Because Uruguay have four slots in the competition. And Liverpool are not in the top four. So why are they taking part?

When the coronavirus pandemic struck last March, South American football administrators had a headache. Europe had the problem of how to finish its competitions.
But in South America almost everyone plays by the calendar year, and so the leagues had only just started after the summer break when the action was halted.
Most countries opted to improvise a shortened competition that could be completed by the end of the year.
Uruguay did things differently. They decided to keep their normal calendar – with three separate competitions per year – and just push everything back.

So Uruguay’s 2020 season will not finish for some time. But the Libertadores kicks off in two weeks. How, then, could the country allocate its four slots?
The answer, depending on opinion, is either ingenious or absolutely bizarre. A ‘photo’ was taken of the overall league table at a certain point.

Liverpool found themselves in the Copa Libertadores after a bizarre rule decided because of the coronavirusCredit: AFP – Getty
And then a place in the Libertadores was offered to the team at the top of the table.
But this place comes with a disadvantage. The team that takes the field on February 23rd will be playing in the first qualifying round.
It will have to fight its way through Universidad Catolica and then two more opponents in order to make it through to the group phase.
The leaders of the overall table are Nacional, one of the traditional giants. They turned down the chance to go into the Libertadores at this early stage.
They are betting that they will claim one of the country’s two automatic places in the group phase.
Second place Montevideo City Torque did likewise (and yes, City are competing with Liverpool even in Uruguay), as did Penarol, the other traditional giant, and fourth placed Rentistas.
The next in line for the offer were Liverpool, and they snapped it up.  They have only taken part in the Libertadores once before – ten years ago, when they fell in the qualifying stage.

Uruguayan giants Penarol declined the opportunity to enter the Copa Libertadores at this stageCredit: AFP – Getty

As did Apertura champions Rentistas, who believe they can claim one of the Uruguay’s two automatic places in the group phase.

And so they were delighted with the chance of a continental adventure, and will presumably be happy whatever the outcome of their matches.
One of the teams above them will not be happy, though. Four clubs have gambled. Three slots are left.
Someone has to miss out, because one of  Uruguay’s places in the Copa Libertadores is on a boat bound for Liverpool.

Derby boss Wayne Rooney’s amazing property portfolio includes £20m ‘Morrisons’ mansion and secret luxury Barbados pad

THEY might be worth an estimated £115million, but Wayne and Coleen Rooney’s Cheshire mansion has been mocked for ‘looking like a Morrisons’.
However, the six-bedroom palatial home – which cost £20m – isn’t the only property in the couple’s lavish portfolio, which also includes pads in Florida and the Caribbean.

Manchester United legend Wayne, who has now hung up his boots aged 35  to take his first managerial job at Derby, grew up in a council house in Liverpool – but has shown off his real estate skills with his sprawling Barbados villa, which he rents out for £25,000 a week.
He also snapped up a £320,000 waterfront apartment in the Sunshine State of Florida in 2007 – and even splashed out £450,000 on a detached home in Liverpool for his parents to live in.
Today, he and Coleen, have properties across the globe.
Below, SunSport looks at the couple’s impressive property portfolio…

    Secret £5m Barbados pad
The Rooneys’ housing portfolio stretches to overseas – where they rent out a spectacular Barbados villa for more than £25,000 a week in the high season.
The five-bedroom property boasts an infinity pool, a media room and a shared golf course.
Inside, the walls feature pictures of Hollywood icons Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe.

It cost the couple a cool £5 million – but is rented out for as much as £25,000 a week
The paradise pad sits on the island’s exclusive Jasmine Ridge estate, with celebrity neighbours including Ant and Dec and Roo’s old United team-mate Rio Ferdinand.

Boxer Joe Calzaghe, and motorcycle racer Carl Fogarty are also said to own homes there.
Over the years, the swish Bajan resort has become so popular with Manchester’s rich and famous that its residents have dubbed it the Northern Quarter.
The Rooneys bought the villa for £5million in 2010, but put it on the rental market as a holiday home several years ago, the Manchester Evening News reported.

The mansion has some famous neighbours – including Ant and Dec and Rio Ferdinand

Its outdoor dining area is perfect for entertaining family and friends
United fans who want to live like Wayne himself will need to cough up around £10,000 to stay at the Royal Westmoreland pad during low season.
And those staying at high season will have to fork out up to £25,410 a week.
Based on the Rooneys renting out the property from 2015, they could have netted more than £5m from wealthy guests by now – an amount likely to soar this summer should Covid travel restrictions get lifted in time.
It won’t be long until they’ve reached the price they paid for it a decade ago after renting was no doubt affected by the pandemic over the past 12 months.

    £300k Florida apartment
Not all of Wayne and Coleen’s purchases have seemingly done as well as their Barbados one.
In 2007, the couple splashed out around £320,000 on a luxurious waterfront apartment at Harbor Pointe in Port Charlotte, Florida – but property prices later collapsed.
They bought the pad via Your Place Abroad – whose former clients also include footie star Michael Owen and former cricketer Andrew Flintoff, the Daily Mail reported.

The firm has since gone into liquidation.
Public records list Rooney as being the owner of a three-bedroom condo in the riverside resort, which has a balcony and more than 1,750 sq ft of living space.
It also boasts a master suite with a study and an ‘oversized walk-in closet’, with a fitness centre and in-ground heated pool available in the resort’s grounds.
It is thought the ‘spacious’ condo is currently being rented out.

In the years after the Rooneys snapped up their apartment, property prices in the area collapsed, with some homes dropping in price by more than £150,000.
    Waynesor Castle
The Rooneys lived happily in a £6m home in Prestbury, Cheshire, for more than a decade before they were the victims of an attempted burglary.
A former serviceman tried to break in while Wayne played in a testimonial match in August 2016,  leaving a worried Coleen fearing for her kids’ safety.
Dubbed ‘Waynesor Castle’ among other nicknames, the Rooneys’ home reportedly featured six en-suite bedrooms, a cinema, a Jacuzzi and a swimming pool.
There have also been rumours of under-lawn heating and a hairdressing salon.

    ‘Beautiful’ Maryland home
In 2018, the Rooneys were rumoured to be set to move into a stunning £12m Washington DC mansion, after Wayne joined DC United.
The property, in Wesley Heights, boasted a wine cellar, a home gym, an outdoor swimming pool, a recreation room and even a massive cinema screen.
But it was since been reported that the family opted to live in Maryland instead. They were thought to be living around a 50-minute drive from the US capital.

One source close to Coleen told SunSport: “They live in Maryland, which is really quiet, so if they do go out it’s bowling or cinema with the kids.”
They added: “They have a massive house and it’s beautiful.”
    New £20m Cheshire mansion
Features: Man-made fishing lakes, an orangery and a football pitch
The Rooneys’ new pad sits on a 40-acre plot in Cheshire.
The £20m property, includes a number of buildings, stables, two man-made fishing lakes and an orangery.
But we reported how the luxurious new home has been compared to a Morrisons supermarket and even a Travelodge because of its exterior.

Social media users have compared the Rooneys’ new property to a supermarket

One person wrote online: “Looks like my local Morrisons supermarket. £20million for that?”
Another said: “Surely that is a new Tesco build…?’  while a third quipped: “More of a Morrisons I’d say”.
The mansion boasts a TV room, snooker room, bar, wine store, cinema, gym and swimming pool, as well as an underground tunnel to a six-car garage.
And there are believed to even be separate lifts – one for the family, the other for visitors.
It is thought that former England striker Wayne has also requested a panic bunker in the home over fears his family will be hit by another attempted burglary.

A mansion for Wayne’s parents.. and one for Coleen
As well as his own properties, Wayne bought his parents, Wayne Snr and Jeanette Rooney, a £450,000 detached home in West Derby, which reportedly has three reception rooms.
Several years ago, reports claimed he’d also bought his wife a £5m villa in Portugal.
And with a net worth of more than £100m (Coleen is worth an estimated £13m), it’s likely Wayne’s portfolio of luxury properties will only continue to expand.

Worst debuts in football after Mark Wright nightmare, from Ibrahimovic’s AC Milan flop to Rio Ferdinand’s Leeds disaster

IT’S not all bad news Mark Wright.
The former TOWIE star endured a miserable League Two debut for Crawley Town as his side crashed to a 3-1 home defeat.

The 34-year-old even suffered the indignity of being subbed off at half-time with this season’s FA Cup giant killers trailing by three goals at the break.
But Wright will take comfort in the fact that he’s not the first footballer to endure a horror show on their first appearance for their new club.
    RIO FERDINAND
When you become Britain’s most expensive player, of course you will face scrutiny in your next game.
And that’s the cruel fate that awaited Ferdinand when he signed for Leeds in an £18million deal from West Ham.

His first outing turned out to be a disaster as his new team were soundly beaten 3-1 at Leicester in 2000.
Alongside Lucas Radebe, Ferdinand was lost at sea as the Foxes crushed an expensively assembled Leeds side.

    ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC
A rare blip here for Ibra.
And it goes without saying that he was absolutely brilliant in his first season at AC Milan in 2010 – scoring 21 times in all competitions.

But you wouldn’t have said he would be a hit after he missed a penalty against lowly Cesena in a 2-0 loss.

    TEDDY SHERINGHAM
As fate would have it, the fixture list paired Spurs and Manchester United on the opening day of the season in 1997.
It meant the Red Devils’ new signing Teddy Sheringham would return to White Hart Lane, where he enjoyed so much success, for his United debut.
With an hour on the clock, he was gifted the opportunity to open his Manchester United account from the penalty spot.
However, his effort struck the foot of the post before cannoning back to Teddy who stuck out a foot – only to see the ball bounce off it to safety.

    ALI DIA
And the award for worst footballer ever goes to…
Famously, Ali Dia conned his way into football folklore when he convinced then-Southampton boss Graeme Souness he would be the answer to the Saints’ goalscoring problems in 1996.
The self-proclaimed cousin of George Weah entered the fray in a game against Leeds in the 32nd minute – coming on for an injured Matt Le Tissier – only to be subbed off with five minutes left.
Le Tissier later said: “He ran around the pitch like Bambi on ice; it was very embarrassing to watch.”

    JONATHAN WOODGATE
Real Madrid fans were forced to wait a year for Woodgate to make his debut in LaLiga, following a £13million move from Newcastle in 2004.
And it all went wrong for the centre half against Athletic Bilbao, first scoring a comical own goal.
Then, shortly after the hour mark, he received his marching orders for a second yellow card.

The journeyman striker was called up to the Scotland squad for a crucial World Cup qualifier against Norway in 2010.
And with time running out for the Tartan Army to find a winner, Iwelumo was introduced to try and grab a vital goal.

    JOE HART
The downfall of the former England shotstopper could probably be chronicled from here.
After being discarded by Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, Hart was shipped out on loan to Torino.
With his confidence shattered by his ordeal at City, he was shaky for his new club on his first match.
Hart was at fault for Atalanta’s opening goal in a 2-1 defeat – punching a cross to the feet of an opposing attaker who scored.

Former Aston Villa defender Curtis Davies had a mare on his first start for the Villans in a League Cup tie against Leicester that ended in a 1-0 defeat.
And he was completely honest about it, too – likening his performance to that of a “pub team player”.
“I was just awful,” he confessed.
“I didn’t contribute anything. I’ve been bigging myself up, saying I’m ready and obviously I’m not. I’m not good enough to get in the team yet.
“I’m honest with myself in every performance and that was rubbish – I looked like a pub team player.”

    HENRIK LARSSON
Former Manchester United striker Larsson can be excused – especially after he became such a Celtic legend.
But on his debut against Hibernian at Easter Road a slack pass to Chic Charnely saw the Hoops’ rivals claim a famous win.
It didn’t get better on his European debut either – scoring an own goal against Austrian side Tirol Innsbruck.
Luckily enough, Larsson would score 242 up the other end during his Celtic career to earn iconic status.

The craziest contract demands revealed, including no space travel, weight clauses and even cooking lessons

    PLAYERS are valuable commodities.
So when they thrash out contracts with the world’s biggest clubs, it’s important to get everything right and nothing’s left to chance.

Robert Lewandowski is still able to continue his outdoor adventures at Bayern MunichCredit: Getty

But there are times when stipulations are put in place by player and club to protect their interests, to let them fulfil their hobbies, or managers just don’t trust them.
SunSport looks back at the wackiest requested to and by players:
    Lew the outdoor adventurer
When Robert Lewandowski was running down his contract at Borussia Dortmund both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid were jostling for his signature.
And in leaked documents, Real Madrid’s offer seemed far more lucrative.

Alongside a £166,000-per-week deal and a £10million signing-on fee were several requests they didn’t want daredevil Lewandowski to do while he was their property.
Skiing, paragliding, climbing, going on a motorboat and even riding a motorbike were big ‘no-nos’ for Madrid’s hierarchy… so that’s why signed for Bayern instead.
    Reina toyed with

Giuseppe Reina in action for Arminia Bielefeld, who only joined under strict circumstances
When negotiating a contract, it’s important to be 100 per cent clear about what is being stipulated.
When German forward Giuseppe Reina Reina moved to Arminia Bielefeld in 1996, he demanded the club build him a house for every year of his contract.

    The club accepted.
However, Reina didn’t specify what size he required.
And Arminia provided him with a house made of Lego for the next three years.
    Redondo locked out

Fernando Redondo’s long hair cost him his international career
Former Real Madrid and AC Milan midfielder Fernando Redondo was excluded from Argentina’s 1998 World Cup squad for a bizarre reason.
Manager Daniel Passarella had refused to pick homosexuals or players with earrings and long hair.
Redondo was ‘guilty’ of the latter.
He said: “I was in great form. But Passarella had particular ideas about discipline and wanted me to have my hair cut.
“I didn’t see what that had to do with playing football so I said no.”
    Cooking up a treat

Rolf-Christel Guie-Mien made it very clear to his wife he kitchen skills needed improvement
Congolese midfielder Rolf-Christel Guie-Mien moved from Karlsruher to Eintracht Frankfurt in 1999.
However, he had one simple request: that his new club pay for his wife to have cooking lessons.
We’re not sure Mrs Guie-Mien took too kindly to this demand.
Though, she was not available for comment at the time.
    Brought down to Earth

Stefan Schwarz is presented as a Sunderland player, alongside Peter Reid in 1999
Swede Stefan Schwarz moved to Sunderland in 1999 — but the Wearsiders had one stipulation the former Arsenal man had to adhere to.
Schwarz was told that any potential flights into space would not be tolerated.
The Black Cats chief exec John Flicking said at the time: “One of Schwarz’s advisers has, indeed, got one of the places on the commercial flights [into space, due to take place in 2002].
“And we were worried that he may wish to take Stefan along with him. So we thought we’d better get things tied up now rather than at the time of the flight.”
In fact, rather than managing to go up, his career ended when Sunderland went down in 2003.
    Razor weighed down

Neil Ruddock has never been one of the slimmest footballer
Former Premier League and England defender Neil Ruddock once admitted to eating 212 steak and kidney pies every year.
And Crystal Palace were advised Razor did come with some extra baggage when they signed him on a free in 2000.
Ex-Eagles chairman Simon Jordan wrote in his autobiography: “On approaching West Ham I discovered he was a free transfer, although he did have a weighty salary — which was not the only weighty thing about him.
“Harry Redknapp, the West Ham manager at the time, told me to put in a weight clause.
“So I decided to put a 10 per cent penalty on the contract we were proposing to offer him if he was over the recommended weight of 99.8kg, which by the way was still frigging huge.”
Ruddock’s Palace debut was allegedly delayed because the club couldn’t find a pair of shorts big enough for him.

The 23 reasons we love Cristiano Ronaldo.. from donating millions to charity to avoiding tattoos so he can give blood

DURING the coronavirus pandemic few have stepped up to the plate like Cristiano Ronaldo.
The Juventus forward, who earns £500,000-a-week wages at the Italian club and has sponsorship deals with the likes of Nike, Armani, KFC, Herbalife, as well as his own range of CR7 clothes, shoes and underwear, has put his money where his mouth is and aided those in need.

Cristiano Ronaldo is the world’s richest athlete – and he is also one of the most generousCredit: AFP or licensors

His years of success at Real Madrid and now at Juventus have made the Portuguese one of the most divisive athletes in the world.
Adored by fans for his ridiculous skill and achievement, Ronaldo also has an army of critics who hate his petulant behaviour and obsession with appearance and brand.
But while many deride Ronaldo for his antics on the pitch, few know of his charity work off of it.
Here’s why Ronaldo has one of the biggest hearts in all of sport.

    CORONAVIRUS PAYCUT
With an estimated wealth of around £500million, you could argue that it wouldn’t hurt Ronaldo to take a pay cut during these uncertain times for football clubs.
But not all footballers are in agreement with that idea.
However, Ronaldo led the way with a wage cut for March, April, May, and June while the world waited to see what the initial outbreak of the coronavirus would do to the footballing world.
That’s said to have cost Ronaldo £3.8m personally.

    GENEROUS DONATION
According to various reports, Ronaldo teamed up with his agent Jorge Mendes back in March to donate £1m to hospitals in Portugal to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
Hospitals in Porto and Lisbon were recipients of the generous donation – receiving beds and ventilators to cope with the high-number of patients suffering with Covid-19.
Daniel Ferro, president of Lisbon’s Santa Maria Hospital, revealed the selfless act.
“We were contacted by Jorge Mendes, who volunteered with Cristiano Ronaldo to finance two intensive care units for critical patients suffering from Covid-19,” Ferro said.
“There are fans, monitors, infusion pumps, beds … all the equipment that constitutes an intensive care unit equipped to provide care to a Covid-19 patient.”

    BONUS PAY
Ronaldo’s international team-mate Bernardo Silva let the cat out of the bag for this one.
According to the Manchester City star, CR7 asked the Portugal squad to donate 50 per cent of their qualification bonus for Euro 2020 to help combat the coronavirus pandemic.
“So we qualified to the 2020 Euros, which now is in 2021,” Silva said.
“And he gave us the idea let’s donate part of our bonus, so I think our national team, our players will donate 50 per cent of our qualifying bonus.”

    HIS EUROPEAN GOLDEN BOOT
In 2011, Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded the European Golden Boot after scoring 40 goals under Jose Mourinho, although Los Blancos could only finish second in La Liga and crashed out in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Rather than keep the award in his already packed trophy room – Ronaldo opted to sell it for charity.
The boot went for auction and raised a stunning £1.2m.
The funds went towards building a number of schools in war-torn Gaza.

    THE BALLON D’OR
Ronaldo repeated the trick of selling off one of his trophies in 2017, this time his 2013 Ballon d’Or trophy at a charity auction in London.
The gala dinner, to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation – which grants wishes to children with life-threatening conditions – was a roaring success.
Ronaldo’s Ballon d’Or made a massive £530,000 for the organisation too.

    AN AMBASSADOR
Ronaldo continues to use his global platform as a force for good.
He is an ambassador for three major charities, Save the Children, Unicef and World Vision, and has spoken up for countless more.
At his 2014 Ballon d’Or speech, Ronaldo made a point of mentioning a group of children he had met with leukemia.
He has continued to speak out in those roles.

In 2016, he recorded a message to the children affected by the Syrian conflict, calling them “true heroes” and stating “I am with you”.
He also made a secret donation which he asked Save the Children not to reveal.
Ronaldo’s Ice Bucket Challenge video – the viral sensation that raised hundreds of millions of pounds in 2014 – was seen by more than a hundred million people across his social media platforms.
    WIN BONUSES
Ronaldo has also been very generous with giving up money earned from his exceptional performances on the pitch.
In 2013 he was named in the Uefa Team of the Year – earning a €100,000 (£89,000) bonus from the European governing body.
But rather than cash the cheque, he donated it to the Red Cross.
A year later the Portuguese star led Real Madrid to La Decima, their tenth Champions League victory, and picked up a £450,000 bonus from Los Blancos.
But Ronaldo again decided against cashing the money, instead sharing it among the three charities he is an ambassador for, Unicef, World Vision and Save the Children.

    GIVES BLOOD
The 36-year-old, compared to a growing number of his peers, is remarkably tattoo-free.
It’s all for a reason – Ronaldo regularly donates blood and has been involved in numerous campaigns to encourage others to do the same.
People with tattoos can donate blood, but are not able to do so immediately after getting new ink to reduce the risk of infection.

Ronaldo is a frequent giver of blood and has advocated for others to do the same

The Portuguese does not have any tattoos so he can donate blood more frequently
He said in 2015: “We can all make a difference by donating blood.
“Each donation can benefit up to three people in emergency situations and for long-term medical treatments… That’s why I am enthusiastic… to the importance of blood donation and to encourage people around the world to become lifelong blood donors and help save lives.”
Ronaldo also donates bone marrow after a former team-mate revealed his struggles.
Carlos Martins had a son who needed bone marrow and Ronaldo has been a donor since.
He said donating bone marrow is ‘something a lot of people think is a difficult thing to do but it’s nothing more than drawing blood and doesn’t hurt.’
    MULTI-MILLION POUND RELIEF
Ronaldo again donated a huge amount of money in 2015, to the relief efforts for the Nepalese earthquake in April 2015.
The deadly natural disaster killed 9,000 people, injured 22,000 more and caused untold amounts of damage to the country.
Ronaldo is reported to have given £5MILLION to Save the Children’s disaster relief fund – although those reports have remained unverified and were denied by the charity.
He likely did make a donation, although the amount remains a mystery.

    HELPING A CANCER CENTRE
Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, survived breast cancer in 2007.
The former Manchester United man decided to thank the care centre in Portugal that treated his mum – adding £120,000 to their coffers.

    INVITATION TO AN ORPHAN
In Lebanese capital Beirut, Real Madrid fan Haidar was orphaned when both of his parents were killed by a suicide bomber.
A local reporter got in touch with the Spanish giants and eventually the boy was invited to the club.
It lead to a heart-rending video of Ronaldo cuddling the youngster as he burst into tears of sheer delight to meet his hero.

    HELPING A YOUNG FAN
Ronaldo was alerted to the story of  Nuhuzet Guillen, a nine-year-old with terminal cancer in 2009.
After hearing about the fan, Ronaldo decided to send a driver to bring the family to the hotel where the Real Madrid team were staying.
After emerging from the lift, he is reported to have joked to the youngster: “Don’t you want to say anything?”
He dedicated a goal to Nuhuzet, inviting him to watch the match in his private box at the Bernabeu, and after the game gave him his match shirt.

After speaking with his father, Ronaldo learned there was not much that could be done, although there was experimental treatment available in the US, which the star paid for.
When Nuhuzet’s condition worsened, Ronaldo offered to pay for all of his medication, costing hundreds of thousands, and treatment at a private medical centre.
Ronaldo paid that for more than a year, until the boy sadly passed away in March 2013.
    GENEROUS WITH HIS TIME
Ronaldo is often targeted by pitch invaders for selfies and pictures.
But rather than avoid the fans, CR7 knows he is an icon to these people and instead often stops for pictures.
On numerous occasions he has stopped fans from being dealt with by heavy-handed security.
Ronaldo also loves to interact with supporters inside stadiums, often staying to throw his shirt into the crowd, sign autographs and take pictures.

    HELPING ANOTHER YOUNG FAN
In 2014, the mother of another young fan, ten-month-old Erik Ortiz Cruz, asked Ronaldo to donate a shirt to the boy, who has cortical dysplasia.
The brain abnormality causes up to 30 seizures a day.
After hearing the full story Ronaldo paid £55,000 for initial brain surgery and pledged to cover the cost of any follow-up treatment – although none has so far been needed.
He also helped raise extra money for Erik by donating a signed kit to sell at auction.

    BROKEN ARM
During a pre-season friendly at Bournemouth, Ronaldo blasted one of his trademark free-kicks into the crowd at the Vitality Stadium.
Unfortunately for 11-year-old Charlie Silverwood, the shot broke the boy’s arm.
Club president Florentino Perez called Charlie, while Ronaldo gave him a signed Real Madrid shirt.
During a Champions League clash he also hit a shot into the crowd that made a young boy cry.
He leapt into the stand to give the youngster his training top.

    BEST FRIEND EVER
Super-agent Jorge Mendes named Ronaldo as his best man when he married Sandra in 2015.
And Ronaldo decided to reward his Portuguese friend handsomely, buying him a whole Greek Island as a wedding present.
The island is said to have cost almost £40MILLION.
    INVITATION FOR RICKSEN
Rangers legend Fernando Ricksen was suddenly diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2013.
The former Netherlands international was wheelchair-bound and relied on his wife and carers to look after him until his death in September 2019.
After his condition became well-known, Ronaldo contacted the Scottish title winner on social media to invite Ricksen and his family to a match at the Bernabeu.
Ronaldo also presented a shirt to the former right-back after a Champions League win over Legia Warsaw in October 2016.

    SUPER TEAM-MATE
After La Decima, Real Madrid’s players not only got that win bonus from the club, but also a special gift from Ronaldo.
The player of the tournament decided to reward his team-mates with personalised watches from luxury watch brand Bvlgari.
Each watch was personalised and said to have cost him £5,000 each.

    BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING
Ronaldo’s father, Denis was an alcoholic who battled with his addiction for years before his death in 2005.
Older brother Hugo Aveiro was heading down that same path, addicted to alcohol and drugs.
But as Ronaldo’s fame grew he decided to intervene – promising to dedicate La Decima to his older brother if he kicked his destructive habits.
He did and then came on to the pitch to share an emotional embrace with Ronaldo after full-time.
Hugo, who is ten years older than Cristiano, has since been pictured alongside Ronaldo at numerous events, including the 2016 Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Ronaldo is also godfather to Hugo’s son, while the Juventus and Portugal star decided to put his older brother in charge of the Ronaldo Museum in Madeira.
So next time someone mentions how much they hate Ronaldo’s preening on the field, just remember how much he helps out off it.

    PATIENCE OF A SAINT

Humble Cristiano Ronaldo happily waited 40 minutes for a table in a restaurant and is a ‘decent boy’, reveals chefCredit: Instagram / @georginagio
Humble Ronaldo showed he is just like the rest of us when he went out for a pre-Christmas dinner with girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez and son Cristiano Jr in December 2018.
Turin chef Davide Fiore offered the exclusive party a spot at 9.30pm – only for the Ronaldo clan to rock up 90 minutes early and have to wait FOURTY minutes for a table.
But the forward didn’t throw his toys out of the pram like some critics might’ve expected, instead waiting patiently with no sign of arrogance and Fiore described him as a ‘decent boy’.
    A GREAT TIPPER
Ronaldo is a massive fan of the luxury Costa Navarino resort in southern Greece and has stayed there multiple times.
The area comprises several sites, with two five-star hotels, as well as luxury private residences, conference facilities, spas and golf courses. It is not clear exactly where Ronaldo was staying – the owners enforced a media blackout to allow Ronaldo and his family some privacy – but he clearly loved it.
After week long stays in 2018 and 2019, Ronaldo left a massive tip for the staff who had looked after him, paying £20,000 on top of his bill to be shared among ten staff on both occasions.
    NEVER FORGETS A KIND GESTURE
Ronaldo recently revealed he was given free burgers by three women when he used to beg for food as a child.
After a massive appeal, one of the women has been found – after Ron claimed he would knock on the door of a McDonald’s next to Sporting Lisbon’s stadium.
After days of searching, Paula Leca came forward to say she was one of the three women – calling Ronaldo ‘timid’.
And Ronaldo has offered to take generous Paula out for dinner either in Turin or Lisbon as a token of his gratitude.
    PAYING FOR LIFE-SAVING TREATMENT

Youngster Tomas, seven, requires life-saving treatment
Alongside Georgina, Ronaldo recently helped pay for a child’s cancer treatment.
Portuguese youngster Tomas, 7, was diagnosed with rare cancer neuroblastoma in September 2019.
After suffering a relapse in October last year, Tomas’ parents appealed to try and get funding for their brave child’s operations.
And it appears that Cristiano and Georgina have discreetly stepped up in the time of need.
A message, shared by Georgina’s sister Ivana, appears to confirm the star couple’s involvement.
It thanks ‘various people of great humanity’ for their generosity in the time of need.
And it goes on to add: “Thank you Georgina and Cristiano for your help, solidarity and great heart.
“Infinite thanks for helping us so that Tomas can access treatment.”
The brave seven-year-old has now checked in to D’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona for tests and oncology consultations.
