How ‘Triple M’ Michael Muller-Mohring decides the controversial FIFA 22 player ratings that leaves stars fuming

COULD Michael Müller-Möhring have the hardest job in football?’Triple M’, as he is affectionally nicknamed by the FIFA video game community, is responsible for playing ratings for the series, including FIFA 22 which is released today.

FIFA 22 is released todayCredit: EA SPORTS
The 54-year-old holds the prestige position of Head of Data Collection and Licensing at EA Sports, working from their stunning Cologne office.
It’s his task, that can come with incredible difficulty, in ensuring players are given their attributes in the game and appear as lifelike as possible.
Armed with a team of producers/scouts across Europe who monitor players’ performance from the Premier League to the Ukraine’s top flight, the self-confessed football geek claims to study the game fairly.
“Each footballer is made up of 35 attributes. This then becomes the skill level that we rate on a 1-99 scale,” he told Stadtgefluester.
“Closing strength, long shots, defending, heading, free kicks, etc.”
Helping Müller-Möhring with his role are 15-plus producers across Europe.
Explaining why he has a team all over the world, he said: “This is because professionals in each country need to know the history of football, understand philosophy, and anticipate developments.
“But above all, they know all the players from the bottom up.
“We are talking about 18,000 footballers who are being watched – they have to meet the requirements of the database fairly.”
Armed with a team of producers/scouts around the world, Müller-Möhring works in Cologne at EA Sports
Müller-Möhring says that over 18,000 players are scouted for the game
Müller-Möhring promises that every player in the game should feel and behave exactly like the real player.
“Even to as far to how their hair is styled and how they celebrate scoring a goal.
He continued: “All optical features have to be right, which concerns the player.
“But that only represents one aspect of our work. The other, larger factor, is the player himself.
“For example, that the football star behaves and moves as much as possible in real life.
‘It’s about characteristics. How does a player cheer for a goal? What hairstyle does he have?
“Is he wearing his jersey in his shorts or not? These are just a few details about the player to watch out for.”
Before working on FIFA, Müller-Möhring wrote football books, primarily about his beloved team SC Fortuna Köln.
His most famous book was called Tausend Tipps fuer Auswaertsspiele, which translates to Thousand Tips for Away Matches.
Players like Kylian Mbappe appear more lifelike thanks to Müller-Möhring’s FIFA team

Thousand Tips for Away Matches was the book that helped Müller-Möhring score his job with EA Sports
And he confessed that’s how he scored his dream job working on the cult video game.
“As a supporter of Fortuna Köln, I always came to away games too late because there were no navigation devices at the time,” he said.
“Four times I missed the kick-off in Solingen, where it is actually not that difficult to find the stadium.
“That’s when I came up with the idea that there should be a guide for football fans.
“There were four issues for a small publisher. By writing and researching the books, I finally slipped into this job.”
Müller-Möhring and his team have been in for criticism of some of the ratings featured in the game.
Jesse Lingard hilariously tweeted EA Sports to up his pace in the game.
And stars such as Cristiano Ronaldo and Kevin De Bruyne featured in an official advert for the title asking for higher skill ratings.
Even Liverpool fans took particular were left miffed when ratings of new signings Virgil Van Dijk and goalie Alisson were lower than the stats of Man City’s Nicolas Otamendi and Ederson in a previous incarnation of the game.
And in this year’s version of the game, Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger has got the needle with his pace stats.
He wrote in a recent tweet: “Come on, EA Sports FIFA… 35.8 km/h top speed on the field and only 75 speed in FIFA 22?! What do I need to get speed rating of 90? 50 km/h?”
EA Sports saw the funny side and responded to the German international: “Beat Christian Pulisic in a race and we talk”.
As ‘Triple M’ explains, he knows there will always be complaints from the pros.

No way Otamendi & Ederson are better than Van Dijk & Alisson.Just because they won the league now their players are getting massively overrated— Buddo (@Bududup876) September 7, 2018

“We try to make it as objective as possible. But of course we know very well that players will complain,” he told Bild last year.
“Only once have I met someone who said, ‘I am satisfied with my values.’ The important thing is: we don’t want to hurt anyone. But if players come and want specific things changed, then we don’t react – unless it’s really grossly wrong.”

Meet Man Utd, Juventus and Man City target Mizak Asante, scorer of a Puskas Award contender, who idolises Kylian Mbappe

GHANA wonderkid Mizak Asante, 15, became a viral sensation when his stunning solo goal for Golden Kick, a definite Puskas Award contender, caused a stir on social media. But, in truth, the teenage talent is already on the radar of the world’s top clubs.
15-year-old Mizak Asante has become a viral sensation after scoring a wonder strike for Ghana side Golden Kick
Brilliant Asante waltzed through the Mobile Phone People defence to score a Puskas Award contender
Manchester United, Manchester City and Juventus are just three of a number of sides keeping tabs on the brilliant forward.
Before Mizak scored this goal we had already showed his highlights – and those of other players – to clubs abroad,” Golden Kick chairman Joseph Epton told an Accra radio station after his wonder strike.
“But he was the only player we had feedback about.”
    OVERNIGHT STAR
While many fans hadn’t seen Asante’s talents first hand, he certainly announced himself around the world with his goal.
Dancing through the Mobile Phone People defence in the Division Two playoff clash, he waltzed past four defenders before rounding the keeper and scoring.
The last-gasp goal meant the game went to a penalty shootout, which Golden Kick won securing promotion to the Ghanaian top flight.
After the match, Asante’s exploits made him a hero. But the confident lad couldn’t see what the fuss was all about.
“I’ve been scoring these kinds of goals all the time,” he declared.
    HE WASN’T EVEN FIT
Asante started on the bench and was throw on with minutes remaining to salvage something from the game.
Instantly, he knew what he had to do.
Before his exploits made him an overnight star, Asante was already a target for Europe’s leading clubs
Man Utd, Man City and Juventus are all said to be aware of Asante’s talents
“I was not all that fit that is why I started from the bench,” he told Asempa FM at full-time.
“While on the bench, I decided to prove my worth even if I get one minute in the game. I knew I was not fit but I needed one minute to perform miracles.”
The fleet-footed youngster then revealed his happiness, but insisted it’s something he has done before.
“I was happy when I scored that goal but it is not the first time scoring such a goal,” Asante added.
“It has come to the public space because of the tension that was surrounding the game.”
    GHANA U17 RECOGNITION
Now, there’s a clamour surrounding Asante it won’t be long before he gets an international call-up.
Ghana U17 coach Karim Zito is already well aware of the prodigies skill set.
“The player is a good technician and he is able to hold the ball,” Zito told Wamputu Sports.
“He needs guidance and must be taught how to develop his talent. He is a very good dribbler but he must be guided on when to dribble and when not to dribble
“When they start training I will recommend him to the Black Starlets coach.”
    POP IDOL
But for the moment, Asante will keep on watching his idol, French superstar Kylian Mbappe to pick up tips.
“I watch a lot of players but the one I like very much is Kylian Mbappe,” Asante told JoyNews.
Asante’s favourite player to learn from is Kylian Mbappe

Goals like Asante scored in the Ghana Division Two playoff come like second nature to the forward, he claimed

“I like how direct he is with the ball and his pace as well.
“It’s Mbappe I really want to play like.”
If he plays his cards right, he might just end up playing with the PSG hero one day.

Emre Tezgel, 16, is the Stoke City wonderkid who has been compared to Harry Kane and won same award as Jude Bellingham

IN the Potteries, they are getting excited about a teen sensation that’s set for football stardom.Emre Tezgel, who only turned 16 on September 19, is being primed for first team football at Stoke City, although one suspects his best years might be away from the Championship club.
Emre Tezgel is the teen sensation at Stoke City compared to Harry KaneCredit: Phil Greig

The exciting forward has already been compared to Harry Kane by the club’s academy director, Gareth Owen.
Most recently, the England U17 shone on the international stage for his country in the Syrenka Cup.
Aside from scoring four goals, he was named as Player of the Tournament – following in the footsteps of Jude Bellingham, who achieved the same feat in 2019.
It might not be long for Stoke fans have a new hero to cheer on.
    KANE COMPARISONS
Last season, he was given his debut in the U18’s and managed seven goals in 23 games in his first full campaign.
Although an impressive start, this season Tezgel has flown out of the traps and matched that tally of strikes.
And he mixed it against the big boys, recently netting an impressive hat-trick against Liverpool.
His progress has impressed Owen, who compared his pro to England star Kane.
    “He’s a Harry Kane-type centre-forward,” Owen told Stoke-on-Trent Live.

Tezgel could be getting his hands on plenty of silverware in the years to comeCredit: Barry Smith / Rocester FC
“That gets bandied about but his movement is good, he can hold the ball up and he is decent in the air. His main attribute, though, is his finishing and that’s what good centre-forwards have.
“He plays like a seasoned pro, pulling off at an angle, giving little nudges to the centre-back and making space. It’s great to have that bank of knowledge already at his age.”
    A BIGGER STAGE
It’s not just in the competitive world of U18 Premier League football that Tezgel has excelled in.
At the beginning of the month, he was part of an England U17 team that competed in the Syrenka Cup.
He played all three games in the tournament, memorably coming to life against Portugal in the semi-final.
With the Three Lions losing 1-0, he came off the bench and netted a double to fire England into the final.
He scored another brace in the final against Netherlands, but couldn’t stop his side losing 3-2.
However, on a personal level he was awarded Player of the Tournament – the same honour Jude Bellingham received in 2019 for his star turn.
Bellingham, now, is a full international and regular for Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund.
    FUTURE PLANS
For the moment, though, it’s goals that are on Tezgel’s mind as he looks to continue on his incredible start at youth level.

Captain Tezgel receives the Don Hill Memorial Trophy after Stoke City beat Rocester FC 3-2Credit: Barry Smith / Rocester FC

“Personally speaking, I can say I did a good job (last season) but I’m always looking for more, looking to score more goals next season,” he said.
“I’ve played in higher age groups all my life but I can say it is especially difficult stepping up to the under-18s. It took me a while to get used to the physical challenge. When your speed alone is not enough as a striker, you have to use your mind in the final third.
“Next season I want us to finish top of the league and I want to score more goals and push myself for the next age group. I want to play football at the highest level in league and international tournaments.”

And boy does the racing legend know how to spend it – splashing his cash on the best cars that could earn him the title of ultimate celebrity petrol head.
The eco-warrior equalled Michael Schumacher’s seven world titles last season and has a deal with Mercedes to race till 2023.
Join SunSport in taking a look at the staggering fleet of cars that sees Hamilton, 36, live like a king.

    CARS
Lewis has a fleet of motors worth around… wait for it… £13 million.
Of course, being a driver, he’s a car fanatic and collects everything from supercars to vintage classics that he divides between two garages – one in Monaco and another in LA.
“I don’t know anything about wine. I don’t know a huge amount about art. But what I do know is cars, and I’m very particular about them,” he once said.
Amusingly, so they keep their value, when Hamilton doesn’t want to drive them back home – he reportedly has a tow-truck that comes to pick them up from whatever restaurant or club he’s at.
Here’s just some of his extravagant collection.
    PAGANI ZONDA 760 LH
The rarest motor in Hamilton’s possession is a £1.6m Pagani Zonda that was made entirely for him.
The exterior and interiors are purple, and at the request of the sports star he opted for a manual gearbox instead of the usual sequential one.
Hamilton’s Pagani Zonda cost him £1.6m but he hates driving itCredit: Rex Features
His reasons? Because he hated getting behind the wheel of it initially.
“The Zonda is terrible to drive!” he once said.
    “It’s the best-sounding car I own, but handling-wise it’s the worst.”
That could be why in 2015 Hamilton got in an accident that caused some significant damage to the cherished motor.1966 SHELBY 427 COBRA
The highest valued car in Hamilton’s collection is this stunning classic.
Believed to be worth around £4m, it’s a rare sight – unless you’ve seen the racer cruising along the Pacific Coast Highway in LA.
Hamilton was often spied taking his ex-missus Nicole Scherzinger for a spin in this beauty, which would have him standing out from the crowd.

    LAFERRARI
Every car aficionado worth their weight in salt owns this £1m Ferrari – another collector’s item that rises in value as the years go by.
Capable of reaching a top speed of 217 mph, the LaFerrari can hit 0-62 mph in just 2.4 seconds, meaning it’s Hamilton’s fastest car he owns.
Footballers including Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Son Heung-min also drive this frighteningly fast motor that must be just like handling a racing car.

    MERCEDES-AMG PROJECT ONE
Lewis has already got his hands on a Project One, that’s not even supposed to be out till next year.
He was heavily involved in the production of the plug-in hybrid sports car that’s capable of hitting a top speed of 217mph.
Only 275 are going to be released at a cost of around £2m.
Make that 274 now, since Hamilton has one.

    MERCEDES-AMG SLS BLACK
He already owned a SL Black Series, so why not add the SLS, right?
Hamilton, who clearly has a need for speed, added this supercar to his garage probably because it’s the fastest Mercedes in production.
Powered by a 6.2-litre V8 engine that produces 622bhp – the SLS can reach a top speed of 196 mph.
It also hits 0-60 in just 3 seconds – making it the ideal car for Hamilton to get his thrills off the track with. For a price tag of £230k, it’s just what you’d expect really.

    MCLAREN P1
Despite splitting with McLaren’s racing team, Hamilton can’t have felt too aggrieved with his former employers because in 2015 he added a £2m P1 to his extensive list of rides.
The P1 has a 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, which is twinned with an electric motor that means the supercar has a total power and torque output of 903 bhp and 980 Nm of torque.
In real talk that means it’s fast and powerful, can hit a top of 217 mph and 0-60mph in under 2.7 seconds.

    1967 FORD MUSTANG SHELBY GT500
The second classic car that’s part of his fleet, fans of the Hollywood movie Gone In 60 Seconds might recognise this motor as looking to similar to one of the Eleanor models from the film.
Hamilton had his customised by Oklahoma shop Classic Recreations for additional cost.
At auctions, these can fetch up to £750k, and you can bet Hamilton’s is in tip-top condition. That said, we doubt he’ll ever sell it.
Lewis Hamilton says he feels like ‘giving up on everything’ in post about environment that has fans fearing for the F1 superstar
    BEST OF THE REST
When the Mercedes-Maybach 6 came out in 2016, Hamilton made sure he got his hands on the concept car.
The 2×2 coupe is completely electric, and can run up to 200 miles before it’ll need recharging.
Hamilton also has another Mercedes – the Maybach S600, which is a luxurious chauffeur’s car with a partition separating the front seats from the back.
Both those motors have a combined worth of around £800k.
And Hamilton doesn’t mind swapping four wheels for two – sometimes taking his £6,500 Honda CRF450RX Motocross Bike around the dirt tracks of California.
Then there’s also his Maverick X3 dune buggy that would’ve set him back around £20k, that’s also electric in theme with his eco-warrior status.

Ronaldo is also believed to be one of 10 people lucky enough to buy the incredible Bugatti Centodieci, which costs £8.5m

Ronaldo has reportedly spent £1.4m on an amazing Ferrari MonzaCredit: Alamy
It joins a limited edition £8.5million Bugatti Centodieci – of which only ten have been made, he added to his incredible fleet last year.
Ronaldo, 36, took his new motor for a spin as he arrived to training at United’s The AON Carrington Training Complex.
While in 2020, he was spotted taking a tour of Ferrari’s Maranello company, where he posed for a picture with a F1 car and ordered himself a Ferrari Monza worth £1.4million.
That puts his car collection now at around roughly £17million – with Bugattis being his favourite.
Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo has a Bugatti Chiron and a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse as part of his huge hoard.
He has ‘CR7’ embroidered on the headrests of his other two Bugattis, but his latest model he bought is believed to be a tribute to the legendary Bugatti EB110 – Centodieci is Italian for 110.
The Centodieci boasts an 8 litre W16 engine, with special models having 1600hp – some 100hp more than the Chiron and, overall, three times the price of that model.
It can do 0-62mph in just 2.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 236mph.
The Portuguese superstar has supercars likes Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Rolls Royces, admitting to Piers Morgan in an interview he likes to have two of everything.

And the brilliant SUV can reach top speeds of 137mph.

    BUGATTI CHIRON, £2.15MILLION
In 2017, Ronaldo’s need for speed saw the mercurial forward splash the cash on a stunning silver Bugatti Chiron.
Incredibly, it can reach speeds of 260 mph, and does 0-60 in just under 2.5 seconds, not that Turin will allow him the opportunity to drive it that fast with the city’s busy traffic.
As we said, he likes two of everything – and this was the second Bugatti he bought, although he has denied buying a third  – the Bugatti La Voiture Noire – which was reckoned to be the most expensive car in the world EVER at £9.49million, and was snapped up by a mystery buyer last year.

    BUGATTI VEYRON, £1.7M
Only 450 Veyron 16.4 Grand Sports were built, so of course Ronaldo wanted a slice of that rarity pie.
It cost him £1.7m, and will only increase in value as the years go by.
The Portuguese legend bought the car as a treat after winning Euro 2016 with his country.
In terms of performance, it does 0-62 mph in 2.6 seconds, and has an outer skin completely made of carbon fibre.

    LAMBORGHINI AVENTADOR, £260,040
Simply because a Bugatti Veyron won’t fulfil Ronaldo’s love of fast cars, in the same year he bought that motor he splashed on a Lamborghini Aventador.
Made in 2011, it’s the most celebrated model by the Italian car designer – and owned by footballers all over the world, not scared of the outlandish price.
Ronaldo celebrated his purchase on Instagram in 2016, with a picture with the caption: “Bom dia (good morning)”.

    ROLLS ROYCE CULLINAN, FROM £330,000
Last year Ronaldo added a Cullinan to his collection, having previously owned a Rolls Royce Phantom worth around £363,000.
Showing his loyalty to his new employers, CR7 even personalised the interior with black and white leather.
Standing at five metres long, the Cullinan boasts a V12 engine and a horse power of 571.

    CHEVROLET CAMARO, £35,000
Maybe he learned something from Sir Alex Ferguson about American cars, after all the former Manchester United boss drove a Chevrolet to training when he was Red Devils manager.
A more economic motor than others in his garage, the Camaro has a 6.2-litre V8 engine that delivers 453 horsepower.
It’s cheaper than anything else he owns, and was bought in 2016 as a family car.

    FERRARI F12 TDF, £350,000
In 2017, Ronaldo bought an F12 TDF – another collector’s item with only 799 made in the world.
It is certainly one of the favourites he owns, and is zippy with a top speed of 211 mph, and capable of doing 0-62 in 2.9 seconds.
Needless to say, pet-friendly Ronaldo won’t let his pooches in though.

The model that Ronaldo drives is, of course, is the special edition, SVR.

    MERCEDES AMG GLE 63, £127,000
In 2016 Ronaldo filled his garage with supercar after supercar.
His AMG GLE 63 was a gift to himself for Christmas, and some present it is.
The SUV has a 612 horse power engine, and it can reach a top speed of 155 mph.

    MCLAREN SENNA, £1MILLION
A car made as a dedication to the legendary Brazilian racing driver Ayrton Senna, it would’ve set Ronaldo back around £1million – with only 500 models ever made.
So enamoured by its performance on Top Gear, former presenter Jeremy Clarkson said of the McLaren Senna it has ‘rewritten the supercar rule book’.
Powered by a twin-turbo charged V8 engine that produces 800 horse power, it can hit 0-62 mph in just 2.8 seconds.

Ronaldo is believed to have started collecting cars from around 2009, when he was a Manchester United star.
He had a penchant for Bentley Continental GTs in those early days, and collected several during his time at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo’s was the GT Speed model, which was naturally the most expensive version ever.
The interior was lush, filled with magnolia leather.
And because it was a convertible, Ronaldo was often spied with the roof down – even in rainy Manchester.

And although they’re sitting just outside the playoff positions in League One, they will certainly pose a threat to the Gunners.
This season, AFC Wimbledon have scored an incredible nine goals from set pieces – more than any other club across the four tiers of professional football in England.
Then man responsible for the sudden surge in goals is Restarts Coach Andy Parslow, who is responsible for finessing throw-ins, free-kicks and corners, for and against.
Already, defender Will Nightingale has four goals from set pieces – one more than he managed in his past six years.
But it’s Parslow who deserves the credit. He joined the club in 2019 and began working with the academy.
Soon after Mark Robinson was appointed as caretaker manager in January, he was promoted as a first team coach.
“Every time the ball goes dead, that’s when I’m getting to work – throw ins, free kicks, corners, kick offs. I want to start looking at goal kicks as well,” Parslow told AFC Wimbledon TV back in March.
“It’s for and against, the attacking and defensive side of it. It’s just about marginal gains. I looked at things last summer and the average conversion rate for corners was just under 2.5%, which was next to nothing.
“The best team in the League last season were Rotherham, who scored 12 goals from their corners, meaning they were up at 5%.
“If we can make a 2 or 3% difference, three, four or five more goals from corners, it turns draws into wins, losses into draws. It’s taking care of the small details and doing everything I can to try and help us be as best as we can be.”
Parslow, who was inspired by Liverpool’s throw-in coach Thomas Gronnemark, has been buoyed by how open the players were to his role.
“They’ve been really receptive to all the ideas,” he said.

“I think there’s been quite a cultural shift. It’s not just a case of me coming to the players with an idea – ‘this is what we’re going to do’ – some of the players have been texting me, saying, ‘have you seen this corner, have you seen this routine?’
“It’s more of a two-way communication and ownership from the players. It shows they’re thinking about it. They’re not just taking on information, they’re being proactive.”
And they could be even more proactive by putting their work to practice in North London tonight.
