Although New Zealanders can’t obtain a driver’s licence until they are 16, younger drivers are able to compete under certain conditions.
On MotorSport New Zealand’s website, it says that the junior driver program “allows people aged between 12 and 16 the ability to obtain a competition licence”.
According to MotorSport, it is not uncommon for young drivers to participate in these competitions.
However, the organisation has announced that it will be undertaking a thorough investigation.

“The event took place on Arcadia Road in Paparoa which was closed to the public for the duration of the event under the authority of the local Road Controlling Authority,” MotorSport said in its statement.
“It is too early in the investigation to comment on what the main contributing factors to the crash were, however, it does not seem as though the road was in a detrimental or unsafe condition.”
Motorsport New Zealand president Wayne Christie added: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of these two competitors and all involved with the Arcadia Road Rallysprint.
“The whole motorsport community will be understandably shocked and upset by this terrible tragedy.
“We will be offering support to all those involved in the coming days.”
Tributes to the pair have been flooding social media.
World Rally Championship winner Hyden Paddon has taken to X to express his condolences after learning of the double fatal crash.
He said: “Such a tragic event yesterday of two great people taken too early.
“Brooklyn Horan was one of the most exciting young rally talents who was destined for big things, and Tyson who was a massive rally fan and family man.
“Your career may have only just been starting but you had already left your mark.”
Winger Motorsport said: “On behalf of the team at Winger Motorsport, we send our condolences to the friends and family of Brooklyn Horan and his co-driver Tyson.”
1Eighty Racing added: “Such a raw talent! You will be missed on the track and our thoughts go out to your family.”
While Hodgson Motorsport posted: “It is with a very heavy heart that today we heard the absolutely devastating news that Brooklyn passed away doing the very thing we grew to love together as families.

The court ordered that Alves pay £130,000 (150,000 euros) to the victim and sentenced him to four and a half years behind bars.
The Brazilian right-back has denied the allegations and is set to appeal the decision.
Neighbours in his hometown of Juazeiro, in the state of Bahia, wrapped his statue with bin bags and duct tape in a bid to get it removed following Alves’ sentencing.
According to Marca, a local wrote on social media: “It’s about time to vandalise the statue of Dani Alves on the outskirts of Juazeiro, right?

The statue was unveiled in 2020 as a tribute to Alves, born and raised in Juazeiro.
The statue is located in the central region of the city and displays a life-size Daniel Alves wearing the Brazilian national team shirt and a football at his feet.
But the work has been vandalised several times since the player’s arrest.

She concluded her post by telling her 947,000 followers not to believe everything they see online.

“Work, people, because in the end the fridge doesn’t fill itself.”
It comes after Joana posted a glowing selfie just minutes after the former footballer was found guilty of rape.
And she accidentally shared a bizarre letter the disgraced rapist wrote to her from prison.
Before being handed a four-and-a-half year jail sentence on Thursday, Alves wrote his ex an intimate letter from his cell as he awaited trial.
He pleaded for forgiveness and thanked the model for being a strong woman as she went through “such a difficult time”, Vogue reports.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s son shows off incredible six-pack… but fans can’t stop staring at his dad’s toes

CRISTIANO RONALDO showed off his son’s incredible six-pack – but fans were more interested in the football legend’s toes. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner shared a picture of him working out in the gym with Cristiano Jr on social media on Thursday.

Fans however spotted his black toenails
Fans saw two photos of Ronaldo topless and sockless standing next to his son, with the pair both showing off their abs.
The former Manchester United and Real Madrid ace captioned the post: “Today with my partner ❤️.”
Reacting to the photos, one follower replied: “The King and the prince 👑.”
But most of his fans were more taken by why the Al-Nassr star’s toenails were black.

And a fourth decided to explain the reason for the black toes: “If anyone was wondering why Ronaldo has nail polish, it’s because black nail polish allows nails to be more resistant in general.”

The protective layer is supposedly the reason behind the Portuguese legend painting his toenails.
According to a source via German outlet Bild, athletes paint their nails or cover them with a protective layer to protect them from fungi and bacteria.
    GRAPHIC-VIDEO-RONALDO-CAR-COLLECTION
BILD said: “Many top athletes do this to protect their nails from fungi and bacteria when they are stuck in sweaty shoes for hours. Even Mike Tyson.”
It’s claimed it helps prevent toenails from cracking or splitting up.
A layer of nail polish hardens the toenail, which minimises the danger of the nail being damaged when competing.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Jr has laid bare his intention to play with his dad after sealing a transfer to Al-Nassr in October.
