“I’m super proud of myself to play at 40.
“If you’d have sat me down as a 15 or 16-year-old kid after being told I wasn’t good enough and then fast forward telling me I’d scored at 40, played at 40 and had the career I’ve had then I don’t think I can have too many complaints.”

On Monday evening, he took to Instagram to share a picture of him looking up to the sky.
And he added the caption: “I would like to dedicate the goal yesterday to my cousin who recently passed away. GBNF 🕊️.”
Rashford received a host of heartfelt condolence messages in response to his post.
One said: “Sending you love Rashy ❤️.”

Another added: “We are with you Rashy…much love… my condolences…❤️.”
    A third replied: “We’re with you❤️🙏🏾.”
While a fourth responded: “With you every step of the way ❤️.”
Last year, Rashford scored two goals for England against Wales at the World Cup and dedicated them to his friend Garfield Hayward after he had died just days earlier.

On Sunday, Rashford was handed the penalty by captain Bruno Fernandes – who is Man Utd’s regular taker.
The England man has struggled so far this season, scoring just one goal in 16 games heading into the Everton clash.
And Fernandes revealed after the match he gave Rashford the penalty because he has endured a difficult spell.
He said: “I felt Marcus needed confidence, needed his goal.
“Marcus is an excellent penalty taker too. I’m sure he could score that penalty.
“It’s not about who takes it, it’s about scoring that penalty, and Marcus did it perfectly. Strikers, wingers, they want to score goals, they need to score goals.
“That’s part of the game, it gives you a boost. I think after the penalty, Marcus was unstoppable, he could take on everyone.
“I think sometimes you need this chance, this opportunity, to get your confidence back. He’s been great for us.” More

Premier League flop in astonishing brain freeze for Real Madrid as fans say ‘never seen anything like it’

PREMIER LEAGUE flop Joselu had an incomprehensible mind blank moment during Real Madrid’s clash with Cadiz. The former Stoke and Newcastle striker is currently on loan at Los Blancos from fellow Spanish side Espanyol.

Although the 33-year-old’s career has panned out better than most Premier League fans would have expected, it didn’t stop him from having a howler on Sunday.
The Spaniard was in the Cadiz box alongside team-mate Rodrygo when the Brazilian played a square pass to him.
It left Joselu wide open in acres of space and facing an empty goal with Cadiz goalkeeper Jeremias Ledesma out of position.
But remarkably he decided not to shoot and get himself a certain sixth goal of the season.

Rather he put his hands up to signal that he wasn’t going to touch it and watched the ball roll past him and out of play.
Fans have been left utterly shocked by the moment of madness and assumed that he must have been offside.
But footage of the incident suggests that Joselu was onside and any goal would have counted.
One furious Real Madrid fan took to social media to vent their anger, writing: “Every normal striker would still tap the ball in right?”

While another added: “I still can’t wrap my head around why he didn’t tap the ball in. He actually froze in real time.”
And a third commented: “The ball wasn’t even fast, it was the perfect pace, he could score it lying down and he just chose to leave it automatically assuming it was offside.”
A fourth chimed in saying: “Very bizarre. I’ve never seen this kind thing before!”
Others suggested that he was letting the ball run as he thought Rodrygo was going to get to it and didn’t want to be selfish.
One fan wrote: “I don’t think his concern was about being offside. I think he didn’t want to get in Rodrygo’s way because he didn’t think it was a pass.”
And a second added: “They both confused each other. Joselu was thinking Rodrygo was going to score, Rodrygo left it for Joselu thinking he would shoot.”
Joselu’s blushes were spared in the end as Real Madrid still went on to win the game 3-0 with ease.
And it was a historic game too with Jude Bellingham breaking Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal scoring record at the club by netting 14 times in first 15 appearances for the European giants.

Garnacho scores overhead kick Neville instantly brands ‘better than Rooney’ then compares himself to his hero Ronaldo

AWESTRUCK Manchester United team-mates hailed Alejandro Garnacho for an overhead wonder goal rated “better than Rooney’s” – as the winger himself compared it to a strike from Cristiano Ronaldo.Garnacho posted a split picture of his twisting opener in Sunday’s 3-0 win at Everton alongside a famous similar goal from his idol Ronaldo in 2018.
Alejandro Garnacho made what was, for him, the ultimate comparison as he shared a pic including a celebrated Cristiano Ronaldo goal

Club and country team-mate Martinez joined in the praise for Garnacho

Red Devils’ legend Gary Neville instantly labelled the Argentinian’s effort as the best overhead goal he’s ever seen – including Rooney’s winner for United against Manchester City in 2011.
And Garnacho, 19, who celebrated with a Ronaldo-style Siu goal salute, said: “I couldn’t believe I scored it, to be honest.
“I didn’t see how I scored, I just listened to the crowd and said, ‘Oh my God’. One of the best goals I’ve scored – I’m very happy.”
He later shared a pic on X of the goal with the caption “Boom” – and used Instagram for a double image of his and ex-United hero Ronaldo’s strikes.

Ron’s goal helped Real Madrid sink Juventus in the quarter-finals on the way to Champions League glory five years ago.
And United boss Erik ten Hag responded to Garnacho’s version by saying: “It was probably the goal of the season — a magnificent moment.”
Right-back Diogo Dalot even asked the teenager if he could go to the world goal of the year awards with him.
Dalot posted: “Take me with you to that Puskas Gala please… unbelievable Hermano!”

And Red Devils’ central defender Lisandro Martinez – watching as he recovers from injury – wrote: “Well done Hermano, proud of you.”
Meanwhile, Sky Sports pundit Neville raved: “I don’t thing I’ve ever been in a stadium where I’ve seen an overhead kick that good.
“And I was there for Rooney’s against Man City.”
Fans on social media called Garnacho’s finish “the coldest moment of the season”.
Other verdicts included: “Magical finish”… “sensational” … and “absolutely incredible”.
Some viewers also reckon Garnacho’s blossoming season shows how much he has learnt from ex-United frontman Ronaldo.
One claimed: “That’s Ron’s influence” and another added: “Following in the footsteps of his idol”.
A third suggested: “Just like Ronaldo’s goals, this will last long in the hearts of men.”
And even the usually droll Roy Keane couldn’t hold back.
Garnacho not only copied a famous Wayne Rooney goal he aped the celebration of another United legend inRonaldoCredit: AP

He said: “It’s very hard to talk about it because I’ve never done it myself!
“I’m usually critical of goalkeepers, but I’ll let him off with this one, brilliant goal and a brilliant start from United. Brilliant goal.”
The cracking finish set United on their way to victory, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial also netting.
But Ten Hag warned against judging Garnacho too soon by Ronaldo’s standards.
The Dutchman said: “Don’t compare. For Garnacho to go that way he has  to work very hard.
“You have to do it on a consistent basis and so far he has not. If you want to be a Rooney or Ronaldo you have to score 20-25 goals each season.”

I’m 3ft tall aged 20, was bullied out of school at 9 & lived in rainy shack – now I’m a millionaire & pals with Ronaldo

HE’S now a millionaire with over 8million followers, travelling the world, dripping in designer clothes with a Rolex on his wrist. And he’s been seen hanging out with some of the world’s top celebs at some of the biggest fights in the world, including KSI v Tommy Fury in Manchester.
Abdu Rozik speaks exclusively to The Sun about his rags to riches storyCredit: Stewart Williams
Abdu was born with rickets, which meant he stopped growing at the age of sixCredit: Instagram
But Abdu Rozik had far from an easy start in life.
He was born and raised in poverty-stricken Tajikstan, with rickets, a condition caused by a lack of nutrients and vitamins.
Due to financial restraints, his family couldn’t provide treatment and he stopped growing at the age of six, leaving him standing at just 3″2, aged 20.
Thanks to the condition, Abdu also can’t read or write, having had his education cut short at the age of nine, due to bullying from pupils AND teachers, as well as an exhausting two and a half hour walk to school.
    MORE SPORTS FEATURES
“It’s been difficult for me,” he tells us in an exclusive interview. “When I went to school for the first time, teachers didn’t take me seriously.
“They were all laughing at me.
“Also my house from the school was a two and a half hour walk, and I’m small so it was very difficult.
“School started at 8 o’clock, but I used to get there at 11.30 or 10.30. It was too difficult.

“Then I had teachers sometimes shouting at me for being late or they weren’t giving me books.
“If they’d given me books, maybe they’d have let me be good at learning some other language, but I can’t read. I can’t write. They didn’t take me seriously, they didn’t allow me to learn the language.
“I can’t read or write in my own language. It’s difficult for me.”

Abdu was living in a house with no roof in Tajikstan with his two brothers, two sisters, mother and father, and grandmother – none of whom work.
“When it rained, the whole house would be covered in water,” he recalls. “We couldn’t sleep, it was too difficult.”
But it was singing that first started Abdu’s love for being in the spotlight, and gave him the drive to make a success of himself.
He says: “When I was small, I loved to sing. I used to sing in my village in the bazaar.
“I would be sat on the road and singing, and people would give me money.
“I used to work in one day, earn $1or $2 (80p or £1.60). It was very difficult.”
Very slowly, Abdu managed to earn enough money to buy a mobile phone, and open Instagram.

He now has 8.4 million followers on the social media app – and has moved to Dubai.
“In one or two years, I got so many followers,” he says. “This, for me, is so big. And thank you so much for all my followers, for everyone supporting me.”
His followers have been boosted thanks to the attention he’s got surrounding a potential fight with Russian dwarf Hasbulla, who’s also a social media star.
“Everyone’s trying to get Hasbulla to fight me,” Abdu says. “I’m always ready to fight. He’s scared from me. He don’t want to do fight.
“He can’t talk English. He can’t do anything. He doesn’t have any talent. Zero talent.”

Abdu only learnt English a year ago, thanks to a mugging incident, which happened the first time he came to the country.
He says: “When we first came to the UK, we were meant to stay for 10-15 days.
“But on the last day, three hours before we were meant to go to Dubai, we went to a shop and somebody stole our bag.
“The bag had our passports in and they were so difficult to get back.
“They sent the passport from Tajikistan to Dubai, Dubai sent to Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi sent to Manchester, Manchester sent to London, and we were one and a half months stuck here.
“I learned English a little bit slowly by asking the word. ‘What is this?’ ‘Glasses’, ‘What is this?’ ‘Spoon’, ‘What is this?’ ‘Chicken.’
“After I started learning, then I went to Dubai and took English classes, and I learnt it in one year.”
His language studies helped when he met his “hero” Cristiano Ronaldo for the second time a few weeks ago at Tyson Fury’s fight against Francis Ngannou in Saudi Arabia.
“It was so good,” he beams. “I was much cooler than the first time.
“The first time I met Ronaldo in Manchester last year, I didn’t know how to speak English, it was too difficult for me, and I was shaking when I met Ronaldo.
“I was like, ‘I am your huge fan. I love you so much. Really, I love you too much.’
“He’s like ‘Okay. Don’t stress too much, calm down.’
“I was too shocked. I love him so much. He’s my hero.”

As well as his singing and boxing, Abdu has started DJing recently, which he “loves”, and is also a reality TV star, having appeared on India’s version of Big Brother, Bigg Boss, last year.
Abdu was in the house for a whopping 105 days, and says it was very difficult.
He says: “It was too difficult, too crazy, without any family, without mobile for four months!
“It was a little bit difficult. Sometimes they were fighting, shouting. I loved it.”
But that hasn’t put him off wanting to go back into the house next year.
“I want to do Celebrity Big Brother in the UK,” he exclaims.

He says: “This, for me, was very important.
“It feels too good to provide for my family. They are all supporting me. They are so happy. They’re excited.”
But Abdu doesn’t forget where he came from, and went to visit his old house when he was last in Tajikstan.
