      Roy Keane cracks rare smile as Man Utd legend engrosses himself in World Snooker final at the Crucible

      SNOOKER fan Roy Keane was spotted cracking a rare smile at the World Snooker Championship final at the Crucible on Sunday.The Man Utd legend was engrossed in all the action in Sheffield as Mark Selby and Luca Brecel went head-to-head.

      And the former hardman, 51, was seen in the audience grinning as he watched the second session from his seat.
      No doubt he would have been enthralled by Mark Selby making history with a first ever 147 break in the final.
      The Sky Sports pundit joined the rest of the crowd in giving The Jester from Leicester a standing ovation.
      Keane is no stranger to the Crucible.

      The Irishman has been somewhat of a permanent fixture. In 2015, he took in Stuart Bingham’s victory over Shaun Murphy.
      Then, in 2017, the ex-midfielder was revealed to unknowingly distracted Neil Robertson in his match with Marco Fu.
      “I’m thinking ‘oh my god, I can’t miss in the balls here or he’s gonna think I’m terrible! It was actually quite off-putting,” the Aussie told Stephen Hendry in an interview on the Scot’s YouTube channel.
      Keane’s history with snooker goes beyond watching.

      Famously, he was convinced to sign for Manchester United over a game of snooker with Sir Alex Ferguson.
      The former Nottingham Forest star was in talks with Blackburn Rovers, which Fergie had found out about.
      So, the legendary manager asked Keane to meet him for a game.

      “From that moment, I was never going to sign for any other club,” Keane revealed in his autobiography.
      Keane would go on to play 480 times for the Red Devils from 1993 to 2006, where he would captain the side.

      Play suspended at World Snooker Championships as yob climbs on table at Crucible and covers it with orange powder

      A YOB defaced a snooker table at the Crucible with orange powder in one of the sport’s biggest EVER security breaches.The environmental crackpot jumped out of the stands and then climbed on to table one during the first-round match between Robert Milkins and Joe Perry on day three of the World Snooker Championship.

      In an idiotic stunt, the individual then chucked some powder that covered the green surface and forced the session to be instantly halted.
      In a coordinated attack, a woman tried to climb on to table two — Mark Allen was playing Fan Zhengyi — but she was stopped by Belgian referee Oliver Marteel.
      The action was suspended and both protesters were detained by security backstage.
      Police later confirmed they have both been taken into custody.

      World Snooker Tour officials decided to abandon play on the damaged table one for the evening and completely recover it overnight.
      No13 seed Milkins and qualifier Perry will now play their first session on Tuesday evening but it is understood the first frame will start again from scratch.
      Stephen Hendry, the seven-time world champion, said on the incident: “I have never seen that before at a snooker event. It’s a first. 
      “It is scary. Wow! You just hope the cloth can be recovered from that. It caught us all by surprise and then this happens.

      “For me, straightaway as a snooker player I am thinking: ‘Is the table recoverable?’ We don’t know what that is on the table. There is a lot of things that need working out. It is unknown territory.”
      MC Rob Walker donned a mask and marigolds gloves and joined in the hoovering operation with fellow colleagues.
      The dramatic incident happened at approximately 7.20pm but play on table two resumed after a 40-minute stoppage.
      World Snooker Tour officials decided to abandon play on the damaged table one for the evening and completely re-cloth it overnight.
      And fans took to social media in disbelief at what they had just seen.
      One tweeted: “What the heck just happened 😲.”
      A second commented: “Absolute morons.”
      A third wrote: “Oh my god I’ve never seen anything like this before. A protestor jumps on the table and spreads some kind of orange powder on the table. SCENES!”
      A fourth joked: “Wasting the best bit of a bag of Cheetos there.”
      While a fifth added: “Who said snooker was boring.”
      It is not the first time snooker matches at this iconic Sheffield theatre have been disrupted in such an abrupt manner.
      A male streaker ran around the table before the final session of the 2008 final between Ronnie O’Sullivan and Ali Carter.
      And last year a pigeon stopped play when it flew down from the roof and jumped on a hallow table.
      The protest follows on from demonstrations at the Grand National on Sunday.

      The iconic spectacle – eventually won by favourite Corach Rambler – was pushed back by 15 minutes as police and locals teamed up to drag the yobs away from the racecourse, with 118 arrests made.

      He exploded onto the circuit winning his first World Championship in 1990 at the age of just 21.
      And on top of receiving the World Championship trophy for beating Jim White, Hendry was given a Bentley by his sponsors Sweater Shop.
      Hendry also revealed the generous company gifted him a Ferrari Spider 348.
      He told The Ben Foster Podcast: “When I won the World Championships one year they gave me a Ferrari.

      Hendry established himself as one of the greatest snooker players of all time by beating Steve Davis’ record of six snooker World Championship wins.
      But he thinks O’Sullivan, 47, will be determined to go one better than him and claim an eighth title.
      He said after The Rocket won his seventh: “He’s taken snooker to new heights.
      “I’m actually surprised it’s taken him so long to get to seven – that’s how good he is! When I got six to equal Steve [Davis], I had to get seven.
      “I presume it’ll be the same for Ronnie, he’ll have to get eight. I’m sure he won’t be happy until he’s done that. That will be the aim – as simple as that.” More

      But TV bosses have been left with a major headache with the timing of a first football World Cup to be held in the winter.
      Hosting the show on the same evening as this year’s World Cup final in Lusail would be a logistical nightmare, especially if England make it all the way for the first time since 1966.
      The danger of broadcasting it any earlier in December would mean missing out if there is any potential Three Lions success.

      But Doherty, 52, mistook the iconic United manager for a friend playing a prank when he delivered the x-rated response.
      He told the Daily Mail: “The voice at the other end went, ‘Kenny, Alex Ferguson here, I know you are a big Manchester United fan, how about parading that trophy up at Old Trafford?’ and I told him to go f*** himself!
      “I thought it was my mate joking! He goes, ‘Kenny, I’m not going to ask you twice, it’s Alex Ferguson’ and I said, ‘Sorry Mr Ferguson’.
      “I went up the day they were picking up the Premiership trophy against West Ham. It was incredible. The roar I got walking out at Old Trafford was one of the most memorable days of my life.”
      Doherty’s win 25 years ago saw him welcomed home with an open-top bus parade through Dublin — and a Garda chief telling him crime stopped in the city for hours during the crucial frames.
