Aston Villa fans in tears at wholesome moment between Unai Emery and Dean Smith before West Ham clash

ASTON VILLA fans were left in tears after a wholesome moment between Unai Emery and Dean Smith. The Villans thumped West Ham 4-1 at Villa Park this afternoon to go fifth in the table.
Aston Villa manager Unai Emery had a heartwarming moment with Dean Smith on Sky SportsCredit: PA
The game marked Emery’s one-year anniversary at the club since taking over from Steven Gerrard.
And he is certainly making his mark both in the Premier League and in Europe.
Former Villa boss Smith, 52, was covering the game as a pundit for Sky Sports and before the match he came face-to-face with Emery live on-air for a chat.
Smith greeted the ex-Arsenal manager with a warm handshake as it was smiles all-around.

He then asked him about the impressive home record since his arrival, with today their 11th-successive Premier League victory at Villa Park.
Emery replied by discussing how he wanted to reconnect the fans and get back the special atmosphere.
Smith then told Emery that he had succeeded in getting that connection and said he knew what it was like when the crowd was behind the team.
Sky Sports shared the clip on social media – and it soon sent Villa fans into meltdown as they loved the meeting between past and present.

“Love to see it,” wrote one supporter in response.
Another said: “Two of the best managers for Villa in my lifetime and I’m only 30.
“Brings a tear to my eye. UP THE VILLA.”
“I’m crying,” said another fan while a fellow Villan said: “I’m not crying you are.”
As another comment read: “Can’t decide which one I love more.”
Smith grew up as an Aston Villa supporter and he landed his dream job back in 2018 after catching the eye at Brentford.
He guided his boyhood club straight to promotion via the Championship play-offs and then led them to survival during his first two seasons at the helm.
But he was axed by the club in November 2021 after a run of five straight defeats.
Smith returned to the dugout at Norwich just days later but he was unable to stop the Canaries from suffering relegation from the top-flight.

After a run of just three wins in 13 Championship matches saw them fall from first in October to fifth, he was sacked in December 2022.
He then took charge of Leicester City with just eight games to go of last season, but once again he could not produce the magic to keep them up and he has been out of work since leaving them in June. More

TNT Sports could LOSE prime Premier League TV slot with new streaming service tipped to challenge for rights

THE PREMIER LEAGUE’S broadcasting rights could be in for a major shake-up as the company prepares to sell its domestic TV rights for the first time in six years. And one player keen to enter the market is British streaming company DAZN, who have so far made their name in this country largely for their boxing coverage.
TNT Sports could lose their Saturday 12:30pm slot to DAZNCredit: Rex
The Times report the company are keen to make a splash in the British football market and the latest auction put forward by The Premier League is the perfect opportunity to do so.
The Premier League have planned to make their offering more attractive to UK broadcasters by upping the number of games available for broadcast from 200 to 270.
There will be five packages worth of games sold, which in theory could go to five separate broadcasters.
But The Times claim that Sky Sports and TNT Sports are set to remain the major players in the market, although DAZN could provide a serious challenge to TNT.
    READ MORE IN FOOTBALL
DAZN are particularly keen on the Saturday 12:30pm slot and could enter a bidding war with TNT to take the slot from their rival.
The report also outlines that there is a small chance that YouTube may enter the race for one of the slots, although Apple have ruled themselves out of the race.
The value of the domestic rights package is not expected to rise from the current estimated £1.71billion which was paid in 2018.
That number had flatlined from the record amount of money paid for domestic rights in 2015 – which is now seen as the peak of The Premier League’s TV value.

The report also details that it is unlikely that Amazon will get into a bidding war to keep its current set of fixtures which focus around the league’s festive fixtures.
It’s reported that Amazon paid “peanuts” for their current rights to show two game weeks worth of fixtures.
While the price for domestic TV rights is expected to remain static – Premier League chiefs are not expected to sweat on the issue given the vast majority of profit is driven by the league’s overseas packages. More

And he gave his view on Luton’s goal against Nottingham Forest as the Hatters pulled one back after trailing 2-0.
Chiedozie Ogbene poked the ball home, but Dean seemed adamant that the goal was going to be overturned.
However former pro Dawson was in disagreement with the referee and thought the goal was perfectly fine to stand.

Ultimately the on-field officials agreed with Dawson’s view and Luton had their first goal of the afternoon.
The Tottenham cult hero took his opportunity to gloat abut being right and teased Dean live on the show.
He joked: “Onside, it’s 2-1. My eyes were right. Get to Specsavers, Mike.”
It was an awkward moment for the retired referee who seemed shocked that he had incorrectly judged the situation, but played along by putting his glasses on as a result.

Ahead of his commentary on Sky Sports as Chelsea host Arsenal at Stamford Bridge, Neville was asked about his memories and the legacy of Charlton.
Neville said: “Manchester United’s greatest representative around the world for 50, 60 years.
“He was one of the original Busby Babes who was part of that tragic Munich air crash and survived it and lost a lot of his team-mates and colleagues in that but came through.
“He won youth cups at Manchester United in the early days under Sir Matt Busby and went on to win the European Cup and the World Cup.

“Then in the more modern era, a director at the club. He used to come into the dressing room after every single match – win, lose or draw.
“Something when I was a player at the club you might take for granted, an icon a legend would be walking around the changing room saying, ‘Well done,’ or offering his commiserations and trying to pick you up if you’d lost a game.
“It’s obviously a great loss today but I have no doubt that he is English football’s greatest player and ambassador and a champion on and off the pitch.
“European Cup winners were brought in to remind us of the club’s history.

“If you think about the blazers the players wear currently and we wore through the 1990s and 2000s, they were the blazers the Busby Babes wore and Sir Bobby Charlton wore.
“Those traditions and standards and everything that is good about Manchester United, you couldn’t have anyone better than Sir Bobby Charlton to represent it.
“He always represented Manchester United in the right way. I did a few appearances as an ambassador while I was at the club and he was the greatest.
“The way he spoke about the club was incredible.
“He was the constant through the golden thread linking Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson.”
Jamie Redknapp also revealed he used to go to the Bobby Charlton football academy as a youngster and got to meet the legendary figure when he represented England.
The former midfielder also hailed Charlton’s ability to strike a ball with both feet, score spectacular goals and suggested he is the greatest England player of all time.

“We would request that the family’s privacy be respected at this time.”

“We have seen an absolute giant, a true giant of the game departs football’s stage. A simply magical, wonderful player. A wonderful man as well.”

What is Martin Brundle’s net worth?

MARTIN Brundle is an ex-Formula One driver and one of the most legendary commentators motorsport has ever been blessed with. Here we take a look at the racing man’s life, gridwalk highlights and net worth.

    Who is Martin Brundle?
Martin John Brundle was born on June 1, 1959 in King’s Lynn, Norfolk, England.
He began his racing career at the tender age of 12, competing in grass track racing, moving on to Hot Rod racing, touring cars and the British Saloon Car Championship before stepping up to Formula 3 in 1982.
The following season Martin competed against Ayrton Senna for the Formula Three Championship, which he lost to the Brazilian in the closing laps of the final race.
Brundle’s Formula One career started the next year with Tyrell, who he raced for between 1984 and 1986.
    READ MORE ON F1
    In F1 he also raced for Zakspeed (1987), Williams (1988 — one grand prix), Brabham (1989, 1991) Benetton (1992), Ligier (1993, 1995), McLaren (1994), and Jordan (1996).
He is considered one of the best F1 drivers to to have never won a grand prix, achieving numerous podium finishes in inferior cars.
Martin was the World Sportscar champion in 1988 and won Le Mans 24 Hours in 1990, cementing his place in history as a racing driver.
Since hanging up his racing gloves, Brundle has commentated on F1 for ITV, the BBC and Sky Sports.
    Most read in Motorsport
He won the Royal Television Society programme award for best sports pundit in 1998, 1999, 2005 and 2006.
What are some of Martin Brundle’s most famous gridwalk moments?
The former McLaren ace has been walking the grid trying to get interviews with drivers and celebrities pre-race since 1997.
But the 62-year-old has admitted he doesn’t like doing the gridwalk at all.
He said on X, formerly Twitter: “There’s a reason why I’ve never watched back an F1 gridwalk in a quarter of a century of doing them.
“You have no idea how much I dislike doing them but somehow those crazy moments have defined my professional career.
“Oh well, that’s the way it is.”
Here we take a look at some of his most memorable gridwalk moments:
    US Grand Prix 2021
The Sky Sports reporter wanted to have a chat with special guest Megan Thee Stallion on the grid, but was initially confronted by a ‘man mountain’ — only for Megan to lightheartedly slap her security guard on the wrist.
Brundle muttered, “That’s a very big bloke in front of her,” before asking: “Megan, Martin Brundle from British television, how are you? Megan Thee Stallion, you’re a freestyle rapper, have you got any rap for us today on Formula One?”
The American star laughed as she admitted: “I have no rap today, I’m sorry.
But the interview swiftly concluded when ‘Draco Malfoy’ appeared — with the irritable blond shoving Brundle away.
The Malfoy lookalike scowled at the reporter as he led Megan away.
In his Sky Sports column, Brundle laughed off the incident.
He wrote: “I did chuckle on Monday.
“After all the blood, sweat, tears and broken bones, the glorious victories and dismal failures, the monstrous crashes, the quadruple stints on a treacherous rainy night in Le Mans, guiding a 1250 bhp flying bedsted through Monaco qualifying, along with 25 years of broadcasting, I’ve finally become mildly well known for being ignored by celebrities whilst simultaneously being swatted to one side by a man mountain and told off by a Malfoy lookalike doubtless attending his first F1 race.
“My gridwalk return after two years was probably a bit too cheeky in Austin but nonetheless a lot of fun.
“Actually, my real claim to fame is that I once played snooker with Mark Knopfler, and what a lovely bloke he was too.”
    US Grand Prix 2022
The F1 pundit tried and failed to chat to the Hollywood actor during his traditional pre-race walk before lights out at the US Grand Prix in Austin, Texas.
But Pitt awkwardly rebuffed Brundle, much to the disappointment of F1 fans.
The 64-year-old revealed Pitt had been in contact with him since their run-in.
He tweeted: “Got a note from Brad Pitt explaining what happened with our near miss on the Austin grid.
“Unnecessary, but nice of him. Absolutely nobody is obliged to talk to me on the grid, but as I endeavour to make 10/12 minutes of live and unscripted sports TV I’m obliged to at least ask.”
    Miami Grand Prix 2022
At the inaugural Miami GP, Brundle delivered one of the most chaotic gridwalks yet.
The popular F1 pundit brushed shoulders with the likes of DJ Khaled and Britain’s own David Beckham.
But Brundle struggled with some of the lesser names on the grid.
He mistook basketballer Paolo Banchero for NFL superstar Patrick Mahomes, which to viewers was both “incredibly awkward and hysterically funny”.
    British Grand Prix 2023
Cara Delevingne appeared to be unaware of Brundle’s gridwalk authority and brutally snubbed the former F1 driver as he attempted to grab an interview.
He began by talking to a member of Delevingne’s entourage and said: “She doesn’t want to talk but everybody needs to talk on the grid.
“That’s the deal now, everybody talks on the grid.”
He then approached Delevingne and said: “Can we have a quick chat, [for] Sky F1? Good to see you on the grid.”
To which Delevingne replied: “No.” and looked awkwardly at her entourage.
Delevingne refused again and Brundle reiterated: “The deal is everybody has to speak on the grid.”
She then said: “I can’t hear anything, I’m so sorry.”
Brundle then said sarcastically as he walked away: “I’m sure it would have been extremely interesting.”
What is Martin Brundle’s net worth?
According to CelebrityNetWorth, Martin is worth a mouth-watering $100million (£82.3million).
