      And he stuck to his guns as he delivered his thoughts before West Ham’s 4-2 Premier League win over Brentford.
      However, he was not best pleased when Jones said that Neville’s words about Chelsea implied “cowardice” from Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
      The former England defender immediately interrupted before saying: “I don’t think it suggests that.”

      Neville and Jones continued to talk before the latter ended things.
      But Neville was unimpressed at being cut short and turned his back on Jones in the studio.
      The pundit’s latest comments came after Pochettino fired back at his “bottlejob” jibe.
      The Chelsea boss said: “I have a good relationship with Gary and I don’t know if that’s how I can take this opinion. But I respect his opinion.

      Carragher said: “Twenty seconds into the game against Fulham, it’s been the problem for Manchester United all season, there’s space between the back four and the midfield.
      “We go to the reason why they’re poor defensively and can’t cope with counter-attacks, they’ve got no pace at the back and a lack of legs in midfield.
      “People say: ‘there’s no patterns of play at Manchester United, how do they play and what’s the philosophy?’. ”
      But Ten Hag says the former Liverpool Champions League winner has been against United from the start and is not objective in his view points.

      Ten Hag said: “First of all, some analysts are very objective in their comments, very good advice, some are very subjective.
      “Jamie Carragher from the first moment on has criticised and now he wants to make his point.”
      Yet the under-fire United boss went on to agree with some of Carragher’s assessment, particularly in how United began Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat.

      He said: “Probably in the first half an hour, yeah, he had a point.

      “The way Fulham set up their midfield was a surprise and then we have to find the solutions.
      “After half an hour we found the solutions.”

      But Ten Hag even admitted that his team had lacked the necessary “passion” in the first half.
      He added: “I was not pleased with the performance with the defending, especially on the left side, how we did the pressing because they came out.
      “Especially in the first half an hour, several times on the left side and that can’t happen and that has to do with willingness, spirit, passion.
      “That was, in the previous weeks, very good for this team and therefore, we won football games.
      “I know footballers are not robots, sometimes they have bad days. But it can’t be, it’s unacceptable, we have to do better tomorrow but in the weeks before we have done very well.”
      United take on Nottingham Forest on Wednesday in an FA Cup fifth round encounter at the City Ground. More

      Neville was discussing Chelsea’s shortcomings during their 1-0 Carabao Cup final defeat to Liverpool on Sunday.
      But while trying to get his point across, colleague Jones was forced to interrupt him to keep the show ticking to its time restraints.
      The MNF host said: “Gary thank you…” before Neville quickly joked back to him “Thanks Dave” and shot a thumbs up to the screen in the studio.
      The 49-year-old then hilariously turned around from the camera and left Jones in floods of laughter alongside Jamie Carragher and Gael Clichy who were in the studio with him.

      Neville had been discussing his comments on Chelsea’s last minute cup final heartbreak in which he described Mauricio Pochettino’s team as “billion pound bottle jobs”.
      But the typically honest pundit admitted he was actually feeling some regret over his harsh words that followed Virgil Van Dijk’s Wembley winner, saying: “I feel bad now”.
      Although he reiterated that he was still left extremely frustrated by Chelsea’s tactics which saw them overturned by an inexperienced Liverpool side flooded with academy graduates.
      He said: “If you hear my commentary during extra-time I was getting angrier with Chelsea from the first minute until two minutes to go [when Liverpool scored].

      “I could smell the fear in Chelsea from the very first minute of extra-time when I said: ‘why are they sitting off them? Why are they letting these young lads grow’.”
      He went on to add: “Maybe bottle is a very strong word, but [they were] playing with absolute fear, freezing.

      “Whatever you want to call it – that’s what we saw in extra-time and ultimately I don’t want that tag to stick with them.”
      Neville even admitted that during extra time there was a point where he didn’t know who a number of the players on the pitch for Liverpool were.
      He said: “They made those substitutions and I actually pulled my headphones off, put my microphone down and said ‘Carra I haven’t got a clue who is playing for Liverpool here!
      “‘There’s three or four players and I don’t even know who they are.”
      Jamie Carragher made it clear that if Chelsea are to shake the nickname given to them by his punditry pal then they need to start lifting some silverware.
      He said: “Billion pound bottle jobs, it’s a great line. And unfortunately for Chelsea, whether they like it or not, that line is going to stick with them until they win something big.”
      There’s been a lot of backlash elsewhere for Neville’s sharp words with the likes of Gary Lineker and Ally McCoist speaking out against his criticism of the Blues.

      McCoist told TalkSPORT: “I think [calling Chelsea bottle jobs] is unfair. It’s strong. 
      “They could have won it. I think it’s extremely strong and wrong to call them bottlejobs, but they do deserve criticism.”
      While Lineker was in agreement when speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast.
      He said: “I thought it was a bit strong. They could have easily won that game.
      “I thought Cole Palmer could have won the game but it was a brilliant save from Kelleher.”
      Chelsea boss Pochettino also made his feelings clear on the criticism aimed at his squad.
      Speaking after the 1-0 defeat, he said: “I have a good relationship with Gary and I don’t know if that’s how I can take this opinion. But I respect his opinion.

      Anfield’s favourite German played a blinder in yesterday’s Carabao Cup final as his Kop kids defeated Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley.
      It marked the start of a potential quadruple for Klopp, who will leave Liverpool this summer after almost a decade.
      He has already won every trophy possible in European club football with the Reds.
      And Neville couldn’t help admitting he is counting down the days until Klopp’s exit — presumably because it will give United a far greater chance of finally winning the Premier League again.

      Every F1 team ranked for pace after testing with season-opening Bahrain GP days away… and it’s bad news for Mercedes

      Formula One pundit Ted Kravitz was keeping a close eye on the teams’ performances during the testing days.
      And he has now revealed where he thinks each team ranks in terms of pace.
      Kravitz told Sky Sports he reckons Haas will be at the back of the pack, with Sauber, Alpine, Williams and RB ahead of them going up to sixth place.
      Getting into the top five however, Kravitz kicked things off by saying Aston Martin would once again be behind the front four.

      He then tipped McLaren to be fourth place, but also said they were a team with “plenty of potential” to grow.
      For his top three, Kravitz then named Mercedes.
      He explained: “Mercedes showed they do have some speed but much more to learn from a transition into a car that they don’t know, but there’s lots to learn on that.
      “I think Mercedes think they are behind Ferrari but not too far.”

      Things went far from smoothly in testing for seven-time world champion Hamilton given his W15 ran over a loose drain cover and forced Thursday’s morning session to be abandoned.
      Testing for the Brackley based team came with the backdrop of Hamilton having announced he will be leaving the team at the end of the season and joining Ferrari.

      Red Bull unsurprisingly then topped the tree ahead of Ferrari.
      Kravitz said: “Then Ferrari clearly ahead of that pack.
      “Given that Leclerc was on the C5, the softest of all them, but Sainz with the fastest lap of the test, in the 29s, that was only the C4. So clearly I think Ferrari are second.”
      He continued: “Which leaves in front, Red Bull – but by how much? Between eight tenths and three tenths to Ferrari, that’s what I think.
      WHO COULD REPLACE HAMILTON AT MERCEDES? Mercedes will have a vacant seat for 2025.
      Here, SunSport’s F1 correspondent Ben Hunt looks at FIVE potential candidates who could replace him and partner George Russell in the Silver Arrows.
      Oscar Piastri – McLaren have sewn up Lando Norris to a new long-term contract that should (in theory) put him out of Mercedes’ reach. However, they are yet to tie down his teammate Piastri, 22. The Aussie has an excellent record and won the Formula 3 and Formula 2 titles before spending a year on the sidelines with Alpine and getting his chance in F1 with McLaren. He impressed on his debut season last year and has the potential to be a world champion.
      Daniel Ricciardo – The experienced driver’s future remains in doubt as he bides his time at Red Bull’s B-team. Ricciardo would be low-hassle and offer some stability but by that time he would be 35. It seems unlikely that they would opt for him at this point in his career, but if he has a good season this year, he could come into the reckoning.
      Kimi Antonelli – You may not have heard of the Italian, but he is mustard. Still only 17, he has won at all the junior categories and has been part of the Mercedes young driver programme since 2019. This season he has been promoted from F4 to F2, where he has been tipped to shine. A good debut season in F2 could sway Mercedes into taking a risk on him for 2025. Antonelli and his family are close to Mercedes boss Toto Wolff.
      Mick Schumacher – Wolff has always been so incredibly supportive of Schumacher and spoken highly of him, that you’d at least expect him to come into consideration. He knows the team from his role as reserve driver and consequently would get up to speed. But speed is also the problem. He was shocking at Haas and if he really was THAT good, he’d still be driving in F1.
      Alex Albon – A more-sensible choice would be the London-born Albon. A great guy who is also very quick. He has a fantastic relationship with Russell and would be the low-maintenance quick partnership similar to Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas that swept to successive titles. Albon would take little convincing to join from Williams and Mercedes would not need to pay him half of the £50million they were dishing out to Hamilton.

      “Tyre corrected, Max Verstappen would have been quickest because he set his time on the C3 tyre.
      “And if there’s seven tenths to the C5 which Leclerc was on, then that makes Max faster today by three or four tenths of a second. 
      “So I think it’s anything from a conservative three tenths to an absolutely whacking optimistic eight tenths, or even maybe more.”

      TNT Sports take cheeky dig at hit BBC show ahead of Arsenal’s crunch Premier League ‘battle’ vs Newcastle

      TNT Sports took a cheeky dig at the BBC during their coverage of Arsenal vs Newcastle.The kick-off was moved from TNT’s usual 12:30pm slot to a primetime 8pm Saturday showing to maximise the number of TV viewers.

      Welcoming viewers to the game, lead commentator Darren Fletcher said: “Forget Gladiators, the battle is here.”
      The comment was in reference to Gladiators on BBC One, which is showing at the same time and has recently been relaunched.
      The much-loved 1990s show has been revamped with Bradley Walsh presenting alongside his son, Barney.
      Former Premier League ref Mark Clattenburg also oversees the action as the referee on the show.

      Clattenburg recently dipped his toe back into the refereeing game after taking a job at Nottingham Forest.
      The former whistler will be a ‘referee’s analyst’ for the club, the first of its kind.
      The football feeling does not end on the hit TV show, with Guy Mowbray providing the commentator.
      Mowbray is well known for his commentating on Match of the Day, week to week.
