      NEW Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard’s return to Anfield next month will NOT be shown on TV.The Liverpool legend was announced as Dean Smith’s successor on Thursday as he departed Rangers after three years in charge.

      And his arrival at Villa Park means he will now have to coach his side against the club he made more than 700 appearances for between 1998 and 2015.
      Aston Villa travel to Anfield to take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side on December 11.
      However, BT Sport and Sky Sports have already selected their Premier League games for December – and Liverpool vs Aston Villa is not one of them.
      Instead, the game will take place at 3pm on the Saturday when the UK television blackout is in force.
      The matches aired on Sky that weekend will be Brentford vs Watford, Norwich vs Manchester United, Leicester vs Newcastle and Crystal Palace vs Everton.
      Meanwhile, BT Sport are showing the early kick off on Saturday between Manchester City and Wolves.

      Gerrard has not been back to Anfield as a player or manager since leaving for LA Galaxy six years ago.
      The midfielder scored 186 goals for the Merseyside outfit and is widely regarded as one of the club’s greatest ever players.
      His crowning moment came in 2005 when he fired the Reds to Champions League glory in Istanbul.
      And in December of last year Gerrard confirmed he hopes to be manager of Liverpool in the future.
      He said: “Would I love to be the coach of Liverpool one day? Is it a dream? Of course.
      “It’s a club that means everything to me but we’ve one of, if not the best, managers in the world who has been absolutely incredible since he came through the door.
      “And the success he’s delivered in the last couple of years means that Liverpool are in a fantastic place. Long may that continue.

      “I’ve still got ex-team-mates playing in the team and that’s where it is. There’s nothing else to really discuss on it.

      Souness and Richards clash in Sky Sports studio over who is at fault for Man Utd’s second goal against City

      PUNDITS Graeme Souness and Micah Richards engaged in a heated debate in the Sky Sports studio on who was at fault for Bernardo Silva’s goal in Saturday’s Manchester Derby. A lacklustre Manchester United were beaten 2-0 – with Souness and Richards providing plenty of full-time entertainment.

      The Sky panel were discussing the second goal after the game which saw Bernardo ghost behind Luke Shaw at the back post to turn home a Joao Cancelo cross.
      But Liverpool legend Souness believed the cross should have stopped at source – with Aaron Wan-Bissaka at fault.
      He fumed: “He [Wan-Bissaka] should be sprinting out and stopping the cross.”
      But Richards hit out by saying Bruno Fernandes should have helped track back to stop the cross.
      The ex-City man fired back at Souness: “He’s scared, he knows he hasn’t got help from Fernandes.”
      That didn’t go down well with Scotsman Souness, who scoffed: “Try to forget everything you’ve just said.”

      Meanwhile the usually vocal Roy Keane sat silence in the middle as the pair engaged in the back-and-forth row.
      United hero Keane however did find plenty of time for a hilarious rant on the Red Devils performance.
      The 50-year-old went berserk at Fred in particular, raging: “If Ole walked in here now I’d grab him and say why are you playing Fred?”
      And the Irishman’s meltdown continued as the ex-midfielder seethed: “It was so poor. Men v Boys. Foden mentioned it is a tough place to come, it is not.
      “Ask Everton, ask Villa, ask Liverpool. I know the away record has been fantastic but ultimately it is what you do at home. 
      “McTominay, Fred. These players are not good enough for Manchester United.

      Sky Sports commentator Gary Neville proceeded to slam his former club after the game along with the studio panel of Graeme Souness, Roy Keane and Micah Richards.
      But Louie Scott, the brother of Man Utd man Lingard, ripped into the pundits’ assessment of the match.
      Speaking on Instagram, he said: “Didn’t know Sky show live training sessions now.
      “Keane just said go smash someone. Pogba did it last week and got killed for it by Scholes. Double standards.
      “Stop reading into these pundits!!! Still waiting for G.Nev to talk about body language…Oh I forgot he will only say that about the players.”
      England international Lingard was an unused substitute in the match as pressure grew even more on manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

      Keane’s rage boiled over on the Sky coverage as he was left apoplectic at what he had seen from his former club.
      The Irishman believes it was an even more harrowing display than the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool 13 days earlier.
      He said: “It felt worse [than Liverpool]. City are a different type of team to Liverpool. They were happy to keep the ball and they just toyed with United.

      The reason for their departure has never been confirmed by Sky but many think it was because they were three white men in their 50s and 60s.
      Jeff, 66, revealed this weekend on Soccer Saturday — the show he joined in 1994 — that this would be his last ­season on the programme.
      But he was not intending to retire.
      An insider said: “Phil, Charlie and Matt were not just colleagues they were mates, and that means a huge amount to him. Jeff is believed to have thought of little else other than of leaving since then.
      “He has just been waiting for the right opportunity. If the three hadn’t been axed the way they were, Jeff would have stayed on.”

      Jeff, who got a standing ovation from studio pundits when he made his announcement, said: “I’ve loved every moment but the time eventually comes to blow the final whistle.
      “It is time to let somebody else have a go at what is the best job in the world.”
