Souness and Richards clash in Sky Sports studio over who is at fault for Man Utdโ€™s second goal against City

PUNDITS Graeme Souness and Micah Richards engaged in a heated debate in the Sky Sports studio on who was at fault for Bernardo Silva’s goal in Saturday’s Manchester Derby. A lacklustre Manchester United were beaten 2-0 – with Souness and Richards providing plenty of full-time entertainment.

The Sky panel were discussing the second goal after the game which saw Bernardo ghost behind Luke Shaw at the back post to turn home a Joao Cancelo cross.
But Liverpool legend Souness believed the cross should have stopped at source – with Aaron Wan-Bissaka at fault.
He fumed: “He [Wan-Bissaka] should be sprinting out and stopping the cross.”
But Richards hit out by saying Bruno Fernandes should have helped track back to stop the cross.
The ex-City man fired back at Souness: “He’s scared, he knows he hasn’t got help from Fernandes.”
That didn’t go down well with Scotsman Souness, who scoffed: “Try to forget everything you’ve just said.”

Meanwhile the usually vocal Roy Keane sat silence in the middle as the pair engaged in the back-and-forth row.
United hero Keane however did find plenty of time for a hilarious rant on the Red Devils performance.
The 50-year-old went berserk at Fred in particular, raging: “If Ole walked in here now I’d grab him and say why are you playing Fred?”
And the Irishman’s meltdown continued as the ex-midfielder seethed: “It was so poor. Men v Boys. Foden mentioned it is a tough place to come, it is not.
“Ask Everton, ask Villa, ask Liverpool. I know the away record has been fantasticย but ultimatelyย it is what you do at home.ย
“McTominay, Fred. These players are not good enough for Manchester United.
“I was not shocked about Bailly. He has that in him, he is erratic. After a derby game you should be drained and exhausted.
“Foden is chatting as if he has had a practice game.”ย

Jesse Lingardโ€™s brother slams Man Utd legends Roy Keane and Neville over โ€˜double standardsโ€™ after Sky Sports rants

JESSE LINGARD’S brother has leapt to the defence of the Manchester United players after several pundits laid into them following their 2-0 defeat to Manchester City. The Red Devils were swatted aside by the Premier League champions, succumbing to an own goal by Eric Bailly and a second from Bernardo Silva.

Keane was incredibly angry at what he saw at Old Trafford on Saturday
Sky Sports commentator Gary Neville proceeded to slam his former club after the game along with the studio panel of Graeme Souness, Roy Keane and Micah Richards.
But Louie Scott, the brother of Man Utd man Lingard, ripped into the pundits’ assessment of the match.
Speaking on Instagram, he said: “Didn’t know Sky show live training sessions now.
“Keane just said go smash someone. Pogba did it last week and got killed for it by Scholes. Double standards.
“Stop reading into these pundits!!! Still waiting for G.Nev to talk about body language…Oh I forgot he will only say that about the players.”
England international Lingard was an unused substitute in the match as pressure grew even more on manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Keane’s rage boiled over on the Sky coverage as he was left apoplectic at what he had seen from his former club.
The Irishman believes it was an even more harrowing display than the 5-0 defeat to Liverpool 13 days earlier.
He said: “It felt worse [than Liverpool]. City are a different type of team to Liverpool. They were happy to keep the ball and they just toyed with United.
“It was so poor. Men v Boys. Foden mentioned it is a tough place to come, it is not. Ask Everton, ask Villa, ask Liverpool. I know the away record has been fantasticย but ultimatelyย it is what you do at home.
“McTominay, Fred. These players are not good enough for Manchester United.
“I was not shocked about Bailey. He has that in him, he is erratic. After a derby game you should be drained and exhausted. Foden is chatting as if he has had a practice game.ย
“Ole…The first day he got the job people did not think he was up to it because of his track record. Pressure is going to build on Ole.
“For the second goal, I look at Shaw and De Gea who areย establishedย international football players. How they cannot smell the danger. These boys are too casual.ย
“Ole has to take responsibility. I have defended him for the last two years. They have to look at it and see they have to get more out of these players. They are so short in midfield in termsย of physicality and quality.
BETTING SPECIAL – GET SALAH TO SCORE AND LIVERPOOL TO WIN AT 40/1
“Today I am feeling sorry for them. Some of them just aren’t up for playing for Manchester United.”
The loss leaves Man Utd well adrift in the Premier League title race as they appear to already be in a fight for the top four.
Solskjaer’s side have won just five of their opening 11 Prem games and remain dreadfully out of sorts. More

Soccer Saturday legend Jeff Stellingโ€™s shock live-on-air decision to quit Sky Sports sparked by axing of old co-hosts

JEFF Stellingโ€™s shock live-on-air decision to quit Sky Sports was sparked by the axing of his old co-hosts.He was said to be furious when Charlie Nicholas, Phil Thompson and Matt Le Tissier were given the boot last year.

The popular presenter believed he had not been consulted properly and felt a sense of loyalty to the trio.
The reason for their departure has never been confirmed by Sky but many think it was because they were three white men in their 50s and 60s.
Jeff, 66, revealed this weekend on Soccer Saturday โ€” the show he joined in 1994 โ€” that this would be his last ยญseason on the programme.
But he was not intending to retire.
An insider said: โ€œPhil, Charlie and Matt were not just colleagues they were mates, and that means a huge amount to him. Jeff is believed to have thought of little else other than of leaving since then.
โ€œHe has just been waiting for the right opportunity. If the three hadnโ€™t been axed the way they were, Jeff would have stayed on.โ€

Jeff, who got a standing ovation from studio pundits when he made his announcement, said: โ€œIโ€™ve loved every moment but the time eventually comes to blow the final whistle.
โ€œIt is time to let somebody else have a go at what is the best job in the world.โ€
One fan tweeted: โ€œCanโ€™t really blame Jeff. The show went woke a few years ago and has been a pale imitation of what made it great.โ€ Another said: โ€œJeff is Soccer Saturday.โ€
Representatives for Stelling, who fronted Channel 4 show Countdown from 2008 to 2011, were contacted to comment.

When is Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua happening, where will fight take place, how much money will they earn for clash?

ANTHONY JOSHUA vs Tyson Fury is the fight EVERY British boxing fan wants to see.But with the two fighters having seemingly contrasting fortunes in recent weeks, the fight looks further away than ever, despite being so close earlier this summer.

Joshua vs Fury – when will it happen?
Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury is set to take place over two fights, with the pair verbally agreeing a deal earlier this year.
The first fight was supposed to happen in August before Deontay Wilder’s team won a legal battle against Fury, securing the Bronze Bomber’s right to a contracted trilogy rematch.
Both Joshua and Fury have since hinted they’re prepared to re-enter negotiations for a fight in 2022, but they must first get past their next opponents.
Joshua vs Fury – where will it take place?
As stated by Hearn, the first fight is likely to take place in Saudi Arabia, with a second eyed to take place in the UK.
Anthony Joshua successfully regained his titles against Andy Ruiz Jr in Saudi while Tyson Fury wowed the crowd by making a WWE appearance in the Gulf State.
There, he was victorious over Braun Strowman.
Joshua vs Fury – how much will they earn?
A lot. That’s the simple answer. Both Joshua and Fury have already made upwards of ยฃ40million each for their respective fights with Ruiz Jr and Wilder.
So when they fight each other, expect the figures to be at last double that.
Hearn also spoke earlier this year about how he expects the pair to make ‘Mayweather money’, referencing the grand purses Floyd used to pull in for his fights.

“Itโ€™s certainly I think, you know, the biggest fight, the most lucrative fight, in boxing right now โ€“ unquestionably,” Hearn said.
โ€œThatโ€™s Mayweather money. You know? And we havenโ€™t seen Mayweather money since Mayweather.
“I think itโ€™s impossible to give a number. Thereโ€™s no set purses for this fight because, obviously, itโ€™s a revenue share. But itโ€™s certainly gonna break records everywhere.โ€
It’s been speculated, however, that the pair could earn ยฃ80m each.
Joshua vs Fury – what hurdles are left to clear?
Unfortunately for fight fans, a few.
First, Joshua has to defeat Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch, which could take place in early 2022.
After beating Deontay Wilder in their trilogy fight, Fury will face either Dillian Whyte or Otto Wallin.
Should Joshua and Fury come out of their bouts victorious, talks will likely resume between the pair for a fight to take place in early 2022.
Joshua vs Fury – what channel will it be on in the UK?
This could be a tricky one.
Joshua has an exclusive deal with Sky Sports in the UK, one which expires after this fight with Usyk, and while Fury’s deal with BT Sport isn’t exclusive, he’s closely aligned with them.
Fury, however, has fought on Sky Sports Box Office before, most notably for his world heavyweight title win over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.
Don’t be surprised if the two sides come to an agreement where both Sky and BT decide to work together on a dual-broadcast.
Streaming DAZN, however, have also entered the UK market, and they’re likely to want a slice of the pie, too.
One thing holding any potential bids from DAZN, however, is that they don’t offer fights on pay-per-view, like Sky and BT do.
In the U.S., the situation is also tricky.
Fury has an exclusive deal with ESPN, while Joshua’s last four fights have been shown on streaming service DAZN in the U.S.
ESPN offer a pay-per-view service for their big fight nights while DAZN work on a subscription-based model, making a deal for the fight to be shown on both channels difficult.
Arum recently said: โ€œIt will be a normal pay-per-view here (in the United States). ESPN will be the distributor.โ€
โ€œObviously, the big market is the UK, where everyone is talking it will do three million homes. Sky and BT both will have it on pay-per-view.”
DAZN will likely stream the fight for rest of the world territories.
Joshua vs Fury – what have they all said?
Joshua: “We were meant to have fought by now and here we are talking about it,” Joshua said.
“But it will happen. I know what people are saying about boxing politics, but I’ll promise before the end of my career I will have done everything in my power to fight Tyson Fury.”
Fury: “Anthony Joshua’s fought not one heavyweight in his prime.

“They’re all former good men, back in the early 2000s, late 2000s, but not in 2020-odd. They were good men 10 years ago.”
Hearn: โ€œI think AJ, in his head, probably thinks the fight will never happen. I would like to be more hopeful and I think it will happen.
โ€œIf AJ knocks out Usyk and Fury knocks out Wilder then in four months we are talking about an even bigger fight. One could lose or look bad but I do get the feeling if they both win then the fight is huge. I am hoping it works out for the best.โ€ More
