      ‘Fake’ Miami Grand Prix fell flat and race was dull but winner Max Verstappen looks nailed on for F1 title

      I AM still undecided if the Miami Grand Prix was a success or not.
      It all felt fake and, let’s be honest, as a race it was a rather dull spectacle.

      But what I do know from seeing Max Verstappen win again is that he looks nailed-on to retain his world crown.
      Formula One’s new showpiece was always going to split opinion. I referred to the Miami GP in these pages as more of a trade show for corporate guests, rather than an F1 race.
      The hope was that by making it all look pretty, including a fake marina, and by having a party vibe, it would attract the TV audiences, too.
      Unfortunately, it seems that despite all the impressive set-building, they forgot to hire a decent camera operator to record the action.

      Leclerc still leads the championship and I am sure he will continue to give Verstappen a good run.
      But at this point I simply cannot see past the Dutchman for the title.
      The Red Bull car, designed by Adrian Newey, is again the envy of the paddock, with no porpoising like the Mercedes.
      Newey really is the master of his craft and the only way I can see the playing field levelling off is if the technical chief is banned for the next six months.
      And even that might not be enough to stop Verstappen winning.

      Quick-witted Brundle responded with an excellent riposte, saying “and modest, too”.

      SAYONARA SUZUKI?
      IT has been a week since reports that Suzuki will quit MotoGP at the end of the season.
      The bombshell that the Japanese manufacturer would pull out was dropped after a one-day test at Jerez — but there has been no official word yet from Suzuki.

      AJ is reportedly on course to sign a new deal with Sky SportsCredit: THE SUN
      American streaming platform DAZN were thought to be the frontrunners to snap up AJ as they have a five-year deal in place with the former heavyweight champion’s promoter Eddie Hearn.
      But according to the Daily Star, Joshua is set to pen a new deal with Sky ‘pending the finalisation of details on the contract.’
      Despite signing a ‘career-long’ deal with Hearn, the rights for Joshua’s fights aren’t exclusive to Matchroom’s agreement with DAZN.
      The first bout of Joshua’s new deal with Sky will be his high-stakes rematch with Usyk – who produced a masterful performance in their Tottenham tussle to become unified champion.

      KATIE TAYLOR has beaten Amanda Serrano by a contested split-decision victory at Madison Square Garden.The thrilling fight was the biggest women’s boxing bout in history as the undisputed lightweight clash headlined the iconic New York arena.
      Taylor was ROCKED in the fifth round, but fought back in stunning fashion to recover in the latter rounds.
      And in even better news, both have already agreed to a rematch in Taylor’s native Ireland.
      Taylor wants Ireland match
      Taylor is hoping for a rematch with Serrano in Ireland after selling out Madison Square Garden.
      She said: “A rematch would be absolutely phenomenal, and if it was in Dublin we could sell-out Croke Park I’d say, 90,000 people.
      “That would be unbelievable. We’ve seen something special here tonight.
      “Imagine fighting in front of 80,000 or 90,000 people in Croke Park. Absolutely that can happen.”
      Serrano praises Taylor
      Serrano has praised Taylor after the Irish woman defeated her last night.
      Serrano said: “Katie is a great champion.
      “She’s undefeated and undisputed, I’m truly honoured to share the ring.
      “Women can sell, women can fight and women can put on a hell of a show.”
      Hearn wants Taylor/Serrano rematch
      Eddie Hearn wants Taylor and Serrano to have a rematch in Ireland.
      Hearn said after Taylor’s win: “I think we should run this rematch back in Ireland, let Katie Taylor fight in Croke Park.
