However, Merson confessed he could not pronounce one of the winger’s names.
He said: “You know the lad that comes in on the wing. Sorry I can’t pronounce his name.”
Presenter Jeff Stelling believed Merson was referring to Mykhailo Mudryk and interjected by saying: “Mudryk.”
But as it turned out, Merson was actually referring to the opposite side – Noni Madueke – with Merson pronouncing his name “Maduake” rather than Madueke.

Merson then attempted to clear up Stelling’s correction, but ended up leaving his fellow pundits in stitches after another gaffe.
The 54-year-old said: “I can pronounce Modric come on,” before immediately laughing as he was corrected on his error.
Mudryk and Madueke were both hauled off in the second half as Chelsea drew 1-1 with West Ham.
Joao Felix had got the visitors off to a perfect start as he volleyed home from an Enzo Fernandez cross.

But former Chelsea star Emerson then equalised as he ghosted in at the far post unopposed.
Both sides were then denied decisions in the second half.
Tomas Soucek was involved at both ends as he scored a late goal before VAR ruled it out for offside with him then appearing to handle the ball when trying to block Conor Gallagher’s low shot minutes later – something which riled up Chelsea’s social media team.
The result leaves Chelsea nine points outside of the top four, while West Ham climb one point higher above the relegation zone. More

Sky Sports presenter and commentator Smith took umbrage to that view.
And Fury has declared he agreed with Smith in slamming Nelson’s controversial point.
Grabbing the mic and interviewing the Sky man on iFL TV, Fury said: “A couple of months ago Johnny Nelson said to you that Oleksandr Usyk is an average southpaw cruiserweight.
“And I was actually very impressed with your thing. You was absolutely livid, absolutely boiling. You was like ‘arghhhh’. Can you tell us a bit more about it?”

And Smith explained: “I was doing an interview and Johnny just said he was an average southpaw and I just took complete offence to that.
“I think he is a fantastic fighter. I think he was a wonderful amateur. He was brilliant against Joshua and I thought that was a disgraceful thing for my good friend and colleague to say.
“But there we go, that’s his opinion.”
Fury then replied: “I was actually clapping in the room because that was amazing. So well done for that.”

Usyk, an Olympic gold medallist from London 2012, beat Anthony Joshua by unanimous decision at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September to claim the IBF, WBA and WBO world titles.
And he defended his belts in their rematch on August 20 in Saudi Arabia last year.
Meanwhile, Fury followed up his win against Dillian Whyte with a resounding victory over Derek Chisora.
It sets up a potential Usyk v Fury fight – which has been pencilled in for April 29, according to Frank Warren.
The venue is yet to be confirmed – with Saudi Arabia and London as suggestions.
Recent reports have suggested Fury already has another opponent on his radar, should he be victorious over the Ukrainian.

Hasselbaink, who works as a pundit for Sky Sports, admitted that Mikel Arteta’s side have surprised him.
However, he insisted that they will “have a bad time” at some point this season which could cause them to slip up and lose their hold on the title.
Speaking to SafeBettingSites, he said: “Arsenal are doing so well and they keep on surprising me.
“They’re doing great and playing really good football but I do think they’re going to have a bad time of maybe two or three losses and then we’ll see how they react.

“My favourites are still Manchester City but I’m getting closer and closer to saying that perhaps it is going to be Arsenal’s year.”
The Gunners have lost just once so far this season.
That loss came at Old Trafford in a 3-1 defeat to Manchester United, but Arsenal got their revenge when United visited the Emirates last week with an Eddie Nketiah and Bukayo Saka-inspired 3-2 victory.
Meanwhile, Man City have continued to pick up wins, but have been heavily criticised by manager Pep Guardiola.

The Spaniard, who has won four of the last five Prem titles, has hypothesised that his players have lost their hunger to go and win another title.
Erling Haaland has scored a staggering 25 goals in the Prem alone this season, but City have still dropped points to opponents they would typically brush aside in previous years.
Historical statistics are also in Arsenal’s favour.
Only one team in Prem history has failed to win the title after collecting 50 points or more from their first 19 games of the season, that being Liverpool in 2018/19. More
