Juventus ‘considering selling or terminating Paul Pogba’s contract just months after joining amid injury-hit spell’

However, seven months on, he is yet to make his debut thanks to a series of injuries.
The midfielder required surgery after damaging his knee in pre-season and then was ruled out of Qatar 2022 with a thigh strain.
And after being named on the bench last weekend against Monza, Max Allegri confirmed Pogba had “soreness in his flexors” to delay his long-awaited return further.
Now the Daily Mail claim the club are weighing up the possibility of letting him leave this summer.

Ripping up his £130,000-a-week contract that runs until 2026 is described as “no longer an impossible scenario”.
Another option could see Pogba sold, with the MLS a likely destination.
By December 31, the star had cost Juventus £2.9million without playing a single minute of competitive football.
Pogba won four Serie A titles in his four seasons with Juve between 2012 and 2016 before returning to United for a record-brekaing £89m.

As well as his lack of action, the Old Lady are down in 13th in the table – 30 points off leaders Napoli – following their 15-point deduction following an investigation into their transfer activity.

Ibrahimovic wasn’t the only Milan star to miss out on Pioli’s Champions League squad, with the Serie A champs playing Tottenham in the next stage.
Full-back Sergino Dest has been dropped after a disappointing loan spell from Barcelona.
He’s been replaced by Malick Thiaw, a 21-year-old German centre-back signed from Schalke last summer.
And there is also no place for crocked goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who is still struggling with injury.
But because he is sidelined, the Frenchman could yet be added to the squad 24 hours before the Spurs match. More

However, the star is said to have refused a move to Bournemouth, who signed Hamed Traore instead.
That left Roma furious, with the club missing out on the agreed £26million offered by the Cherries, prompting an angry fan backlash.
And now Il Messaggero claim Zaniolo’s family have contacted lawyers in an attempt to hit Roma with legal papers.
The report says the family will allege “mobbing and psychological pressure” amid a “media massacre” against their son.

Zaniolo was apparently chased and sent death threats, while his mother was also the subject of vile abuse, in response to the public spat.
The report adds that the Italian Footballers’ Association – who are there to provide assistance to players when there is difficulty with their clubs – have also been informed.
It also states that Zaniolo has been given permission to temporarily miss training and temporarily move 250 miles up the west coast of Italy from Rome to La Spezia with his parents during this turbulent time.
The player – under contract at the Stadio Olimpico until 2024 – now has fears for his chances of being named in the Italian national team squad.

It is understood manager Jose Mourinho, president Dan Friedkin and senior staff together decided to sideline Zaniolo following his request to leave.
The 11-cap international has not featured in any of the last four matchday squads since playing 86 minutes against Genoa on January 12.
During that time, he was involved in an awkward moment when Mourinho, 60, handed a slice of his birthday cake to captain Lorenzo Pellegrini, who was standing next to Zaniolo in the dressing room.
Mourinho was asked about the situation before Sunday’s defeat at Napoli.
The Portuguese gaffer said: “Zaniolo has been saying for a month that he wants to leave. Unfortunately, it looks like I was right.
“I say unfortunately because the player has been saying for a month that he wants to leave.
“If a player tells everyone he no longer wants to wear the Roma jersey, I have to say unfortunately.
“When a player tells you, the club and his team-mates, ‘I don’t want to wear the Roma jersey, I don’t want to play, I don’t want to go back to training…’ I have to say unfortunately.
“The ideal situation is for the player to be happy.
“I said that I expected him to stay, but as things stand today, I have to add unfortunately to that sentence.”

But despite signing a £130,000-a-week, four-year deal, Juve fans have not seen a single minute of competitive action from the France international due to a serious knee injury sustained in pre-season and then a thigh strain that ruled him out of the World Cup.
And after already waiting seven months for a glimpse of Pogba, now another injury means supporters will be forced to sit tight for a while longer.
The World Cup winner, 29, is struggling with soreness in his flexors – although it is unclear which joint is causing the problems.
Manager Max Allegri said when asked about players’ fitness ahead of tonight’s Coppa Italia quarter-final with Lazio: “Apart from the long-term absentee Leonardo Bonucci, Pogba will not be there due to soreness in his flexors. Dusan Vlahovic should play from the start.”

But after remaining an unused sub, he is now set for another stint in the medical room.
The latest is not expected to require a lengthy recovery.

After taking on Lazio, Juve face Salernitana in Serie A next Tuesday before hosting Fiorentina on February 12.
Pogba took to Instagram to thank fans for their support during his long time sidelined by the knee problem that required surgery.
He wrote: “So happy to be back with my team, big thank you to all the fans for the warm welcome. We’ll come back stronger.”
And his club even released a statement regarding his return to the matchday squad against Monzo.
Juve said: “Pogba is one of the most accomplished players in our squad now, so the midfielder’s return is a huge positive for us as a club.
“The team needs a lynchpin in that midfield and he can provide it for us if he stays fit and gains momentum.
“For now, we do not have to rush him because he has been out for a long time and he should only step on the field if he is 100 per cent fit.” More
