Mario Balotelli in talks with Serie C minnows Como over transfer as star’s career nosedives

MARIO BALOTELLI is in talks with Italian THIRD TIER outfit Como over a potential transfer move.
The former Manchester City and Liverpool star is due to be released by Brescia just 12 months into his three-year deal.

Massimo Cellino, the Serie A side’s owner, had a public falling out with the 29-year-old and now wants to activate a clause in his contract that enables him to rip up his deal after a season.
Now with Balotelli set to become a free agent, ambitious Serie C club Como have moved quickly to try and pull off a huge coup.
Como chief executive Michael Gandler told Football Italia: “There’s been some contact between the two parties.
“His representatives sat down to listen to us. I can’t say any more than that.”

Como’s new owner Robert Budi Hartono is believed to have an estimated fortune of around £14billion.
He has lofty ambitions to take the club into the top-flight and feels Balotelli is the man to fire them there.
Gandler previously said: “Serie A is definitely the goal, however, it’s not an ownership group that’s just going to throw money at the problem.

“The business philosophy is that we don’t buy value, we create value. Spending a bunch of money on players isn’t creating value.
“We’re probably the only club that spends less than 50 per cent of our budget on players.
“Most of them are probably 80 to 90 per cent.”
And the deal for Balotelli would fit into that model due to the lack of transfer fee, although the much-travelled frontman is expected to demand a hefty wage package.
Brescia appear desperate to get him off their books, with Cellino admitting it was a “mistake” to sign him.

Both parties are now set for a legal battle.
Cellino said back in May: “He no longer has his head with us and I am taking his departure for granted.
“It’s not necessarily different to what he’s always done in his career – he’s just a bit anarchic.”
Balotelli has scored five goals in 19 appearances for Brescia this campaign.

Udinese 2 Juventus 1: Ronaldo and Co miss out on securing ninth consecutive Serie A title after throwing away lead

JUVENTUS would have secured their ninth consecutive Serie A title with a win over Udinese.
But the Italian club’s celebrations have been put on hold after they lost the clash 2-1.

    3

Even Cristiano Ronaldo could not find a winner for Juventus
Udinese beat Juventus at home for the first time in the Italian top-flight since 2010.
The pressure was on the visitors – who have been champions of Italy for 3000 days.
And their quest to secure the silverware with a win got off to the perfect start.
Matthijs de Ligt scored a screamer from distance to give them an advantage.

But their joy was short-lived as Ilija Nestorovski levelled the scoring in the second half.
The Udinese star turned the game around when he found the net with a diving header at the far post.
Even with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala leading the line, Juventus were unable to claw back a goal.

Ilija Nestorovski scored the equaliser in the early stages of the second half

And then disaster for struck for Juventus as Udinese snatched a winner in stoppage time .
Seko Fofana scored to secure the three points – which rocketed his team up to 15th in the table.
For Juventus, their next chance will come against Sampdoria on Sunday.

From Cristiano Ronaldo’s five naps a day to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s four-hour snooze.. how much sports stars sleep

BEING one of the most well known sporting icons on the planet is tiring work.
But rather than sleep all night, Cristiano Ronaldo instead takes FIVE naps a day while Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson snoozes for just four hours to keep himself going.

    17

    Cristiano Ronaldo takes FIVE naps-a-day
Earlier this month, it emerged Juventus superstar Ronaldo, 35, grabs 40 winks five times each day and sleeps in the foetal position.
And here SunSport can reveal the different sleep patterns of several other sporting icons from across the globe and how many hours of ‘Zzz’ time they get, according to Online Mattress Review.

    17

The WWE icon turned movie star hits the sack for just four hours-a-night.
At 48, Hawaiian born Johnson clocks off between midnight and is up and about again at 4am.

Presumably to work out at least 25 times a day to maintain his impressive physique.
    Muhammad Ali – 6.5 hours

    17

Muhammad Ali was a religious man and slept for 6.5 hours after dinner and prayers

    17

The greatest boxer of all time put many opponents to sleep in his time and would wind down between 10pm and 4:30am.
As a devout Muslim, much of his time would be split between prayer and training.
And his evening routine would include a walk after dinner, a quick wash, prayers and short stint in front of the TV before he dozed off.

    Serena Williams – 7 hours

    17

    17

Serena Williams clocks up a solid seven hours of sleep after socialising and work
You do not need hawk eye to tell when Serena is out for the count but we can neither confirm or deny whether her snoring makes a racket.
The tennis sensation takes a solid seven hour sleep between midnight and 7am each day after a post-dinner routine of socialising and work.
The 38-year-old former world number one is also a mum of a young daughter so her slumbers are no doubt interrupted by the littl’un every now and then.
    Cristiano Ronaldo – 7.5 hours

    17

Ronaldo sleeps in the fetal position to stay in top shape aged 35

    17

Ronaldo has perhaps the oddest routine of all the big stars.
Rather than one lump of rest at the end of each day like most of us, Ronnie reportedly prefers to take short naps of an hour-and-a-half each time throughout the day.
After dinner, he relaxes with his friends before a swim at 10pm.
He then takes one of his signature naps until midnight and relaxes until another short burst of sleep from around 3am before waking up for the day.
    Ronda Rousey – 8 hours

    17

MMA star Rousey does not mess around when it comes to getting the right amount of rest

    17

MMA and WWE star Rousey’s routine seems pretty standard.
Eight hours between midnight and 8am.
    Nice and simple.
    Tiger Woods – 8.5 hours

    17

Tiger Woods – perhaps the greatest golfer in history – spends more than a third of his day asleep

    17

Woods is generally considered the best golfer of all time.
And to maintain such high levels, the superstar spends eight and a half hours dreaming of sinking putts and splitting fairways.
He snoozes from 10pm to 6:30am – proving the early birdie really does catch the worm.
    Tom Brady – 9 hours

    17

Tom Brady is widely considered the best quarter-back ever to play American Football and he does not compromise when it comes to rest

    17

Like Woods, Brady is considered the greatest ever in his field.
The former New England Patriots quarter-back is revered in across the world for his sustained and unrivalled talent.
And the 42-year-old – who is still playing for the Tampa Bay Bucacaneers – makes sure he touches down to sleep for nine hours each day between 8:30pm and 5:30am.

    Stephen Curry – 9 hours

    17

NBA star Stephen Curry is one of the longest sleepers on the list with a solid nine hours

    17

Basketball star Stephen Curry is another record breaker who is set to go down in the NBA history books.

Juventus ‘meet Mauricio Pochettino’s representatives’ as they target axed Spurs boss to replace Maurizio Sarri

JUVENTUS have made contact with a representative of Mauricio Pochettino, according to reports.
The Old Lady currently top Serie A under ex-Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri, ahead of the final four games of the season.

Despite their league position, the 61-year-old’s job is under threat, with Juve’s performances having regressed from previous years under Massimiliano Allegri.
And according to La Stampa, club chiefs have already begun sounding out former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino as Sarri’s potential replacement.
The 48-year-old has been out of work since November, when he was sacked by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy.
Juventus’ board see Pochettino as the ideal candidate, as a manager with a reputation for improving young players and playing exciting, attacking football.

While born and raised in Argentina, Pochettino’s family is of Italian descent, and the country’s football is said to be of interest to last season’s Champions League finalist.

Joining Juventus would see Pochettino finally united with compatriot Paulo Dybala, whose signature he tried to secure as Spurs boss last summer to no avail.
The highly-rated boss recently turned down the AS Monaco vacancy, as he awaits a better opportunity..
Sarri still has a minimum of six games this season left to oversee, however, starting with tonight’s clash with Lazio in Turin.

Victory would see the Old Lady move eight points ahead of second-placed Inter Milan with four Serie A matches remaining.

Then on August 7 comes the match that Sarri’s future could hinge on, as Juventus finally play the second leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie with Lyon – 163 days after the first.
Juve will have to mastermind a comeback from 1-0 down on aggregate, and would face Manchester City in the quarter-finals, should they be successful.
Sarri himself has been linked with a move away following his presumed sacking, with Fiorentina supposedly monitoring his situation.
