Pele hails Cristiano Ronaldo as ‘the modern athlete’ for incredible work ethic after winning second Juventus title

BRAZILIAN legend Pele has hailed Cristiano Ronaldo as ‘the modern athlete’ for his incredible worth ethic.
The Portuguese five-time Ballon d’Or winner won his second Serie A title in just two seasons since joining Italian giants Juventus.

The 35-year-old extended his tally to 31 league goals during the Old Lady’s 2-0 win over Sampdoria that confirmed top spot.
And Ronaldo came in for particular praise from Pele, who has previously named the ex-Real Madrid superstar as the best in the world.
The 79-year-old wrote on Instagram: “Cristiano Ronaldo is the modern athlete, who shows everyone that success always comes for those who are committed and love what they do.
“In addition to him, I want to pay tribute to the incredible Douglas Costa , Alex Sandro and Danilo. Congratulations on the championship, Juventus!”

    Brazil legend Pele

Despite entering the twilight years of his career Ronaldo has become the fastest man to net 50 Serie A goals.
Behind the scenes it takes a lot of hard work. From his diet, to exercise routine to sleep and rest, the forward leads the most disciplined of lifestyles.
He can eat up to SIX meals a day, with fish a big part of his diet.
Once tucked up, Ronaldo will ensure he has eight hours of sleep each night. That’s in addition to FIVE naps he will take during the day.

The gym and intense exercise are also a huge part of Ronaldo’s life – as shown by his incredible muscle definition and speedy recovery from injury.

Manchester United star Jesse Lingard recently described Ronaldo as the Michael Jordan of football.
He told Sky Sports: “Everything he has achieved in his career. He has been at plenty of clubs and won many trophies.
“I believe he is a real icon of football, the Michael Jordan of football.”

Furious Barcelona star Arthur ‘refusing to play for club and wants contract terminated’ after Juventus transfer

FURIOUS Barcelona star Arthur is refusing to return to the club ahead of their resumed Champions League campaign next month.
The Brazilian has already signed for Juventus ahead of next season – although remains a Barca player until September.

    3

The Brazilian’s absence has been making headlines in Spain
But such is his anger at being “forced out” of the club by Quique Setien, that he is determined to never pull on the blue and red of Barcelona ever again.
Sport report that Arthur did not want to leave Camp Nou, before sealing his upcoming £65million switch to Juve last month.
And the 23-year-old’s mood was not helped by the fact that he remained on the sidelines for the final six games of the LaLiga season, following his move.
He was even spotted appearing to fall asleep in the stands as he remained an unused substitute against Osasuna.

Having been given a week off after the final league fixture, Barcelona players were due to report to training for coronavirus testing yesterday.
But Arthur did not turn up.
It has emerged that the 20-cap international holidayed in Ibiza, before returning to Brazil – with no intentions of coming back to Barcelona.
Arthur will face disciplinary action from the club, but any goodwill between the two parties ahead of his transfer appears to have been severed entirely.

His likely absence will leave Setien short as he seeks to restore order at Camp Nou.
To reach the Champions League’s last eight tournament in Lisbon, Barcelona must first defeat Napoli at home – having drawn the first-leg 1-1 in Naples back in February.
With new recruit Miralem Pjanic still at Juventus until September, Setien will have Frenkie de Jong and Sergi Roberto to pick either side of Sergio Busquets – with youngster Riqui Puig his only viable alternative and Arturo Vidal suspended. More

Juventus star Danilo hits out at Fifa for claiming Cristiano Ronaldo is only player to win Serie A, Prem and LaLiga

JUVENTUS defender Danilo hit out at Fifa after they claimed Cristiano Ronaldo is the only player to win LaLiga, the Premier League and Serie A.
The Old Lady wrapped up their ninth league title on the bounce with a 2-0 win over Sampdoria on Sunday.

Maurizio Sarri led the celebrations inside the changing room with a cigarette and champagne as he became the oldest manager to win Serie A.
Even Ronaldo missing out on the golden boot – not helped by missing a penalty – could put a dampener on the wild antics after full-time.
But Ronaldo’s Juve team-mate Danilo was left puzzled as Fifa overlooked his achievements while congratulating the Portugal hero.
Fifa tweeted: “10 goals in 10 games since the resumption of @SerieA_ENhas helped @Cristiano become a multiple-time league champion in England, Spain & Italy.

“No other player has even won all 3 leagues once. The country doesn’t matter when you’re from another planet.”
Ronaldo won three Premier League titles with Manchester United in 2007, 2008 and 2009 before his world-record move to Real Madrid.
At the Bernabeu, he picked up LaLiga winners medals in 2012 and 2017 and then added back-to-back Serie A crowns in 2019 and 2020 following another massive transfer fee.

But while it is true no other player has won all multiple titles in England, Spain and Italy, Fifa’s claim that “no other player has even won all three leagues once” is wide of the mark.

And Danilo pointed it out by retweeting Fifa’s post with four thinking emojis.
The Brazilian full-back picked up two Primeira Ligas with Porto in 2012 and 2013 ahead of his switch to Real Madrid, where he won LaLiga alongside Ronaldo in 2017.
He then secured successive Premier Leagues under Pep Guardiola with Manchester City in 2018 and 2019.
And his switch to Juventus last summer – in a swap deal with Joao Cancelo – means he added the Serie A crown to his list and secured four league crowns in the last four years.
Fans on Twitter were loving his cheeky tweet – while others claimed Kingsley Coman’s achievement is far better.

The French winger has not played in England or Spain but has won NINE league titles in the last EIGHT years – and is still only 24.
He landed the Ligue 1 titles in 2013 and 2014, Serie A with Juventus in 2015 and 2016 – although he only played one match before joining Bayern Munich on loan.
Coman wrapped up the Bundesliga in that same season and then again the following year on loan before a further three titles since making the switch permanent.

Maldini and Adriana Fossa, who have been married since 1994, enjoyed a dip in the sea before grabbing a bite to eat together.
The Italy legend, wearing a pair of black patterned trunks, showed off his chiselled abs.
He hung up his boots 11 years ago, but the world class left-back still looks fighting fit.
Maldini spent his entire career with AC Milan before he called time on his playing days.

He made 902 appearances for the club, won five Champions League trophies, seven Serie A titles, five Cups and five Supercoppa Italiana.

Juventus 2 Sampdoria 0: Cristiano Ronaldo seals Juve’s Serie A title but slips up in Golden Boot race with penalty miss

MAURIZIO SARRI led the wild celebrations after Juventus were crowned Serie A champions for a ninth consecutive time.
The ex-Chelsea chief, 61, is the oldest manager ever to win the Italian top-flight and enjoyed some Champers and a fag.

Cristiano Ronaldo, right, made sure to show off his massive thighs
Cristiano Ronaldo, meanwhile, stripped down and made sure to flex his muscles in every photo opportunity as he won his second Scudetto.
But it wasn’t all good news for the Portuguese superstar as a missed penalty left him three behind Lazio’s Ciro Immobile in the race for the golden boot.
Italian Immobile netted a hat-trick earlier on Sunday in a 5-1 win at Verona.
And Ronadlo wasted no time in closing the gap to his goalscoring rival as he opened the scoring seven minutes into added time before the break.

Barcelona-bound Miralem Pjanic provided the assist from a free-kick, as he drilled the ball across to Ronaldo.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner coolly slotted home from just inside the box.
It took his goal tally to 35 this season in 44 games, with 31 coming in the league.

Juventus were crowned Serie A champions for a ninth consecutive time after Cristiano Ronaldo & Co saw past Sampdoria
Striker Federico Bernardeschi then sealed the points on 67 minutes.

Ronaldo had the chance to grab his second after a penalty was awarded on the 89th minute, but his riffled effort smashed off the crossbar.
However it mattered little as Juventus comfortably claimed the three points needed to extinguish the faint title hopes of trailers Lazio and Inter Milan.
They will lift the trophy against Roma at home next Sunday.

It will be boss Sarri’s first trophy of his managerial career on home soil, and only his second overall after Chelsea’s Europa League triumph last season.
And he could still add more, with Juventus also looking forward to a Champions League last-16 second-leg clash with Lyon next month.
The winner of that tie will face either Man City or Real Madrid in the quarters when the rearranged end-of-season mini-tournament kicks off in Lisbon.

How Cristiano Ronaldo keeps in shape at 35 with diet plan featuring swordfish, magic chicken and five naps per day

CRISTIANO RONALDO is entering the twilight years of his career – but still looks as fit as ever on and off the pitch.
And it has helped him become an instant success with Juventus as he continues to sparkle in his second season in Italy.

    8

CR7 joined the Italian giants for £99m in the summer of 2018, signing a four-year-contract.
And after a tricky start to his new venture, the 35-year-old scored 31 goals in 47 games in all competitions in his debut season.
This campaign he has netted 34 goals in 43 games – becoming the fastest man to net 50 Serie A goals.
But behind the scenes it takes a lot of hard work. From his diet, to exercise routine to sleep and rest, Ronaldo leads the most disciplined of lifestyles.

He can eat up to SIX meals a day, with fish a big part of his diet.

    8

Cristiano Ronaldo describes chicken as his ‘magic food’
Swordfish, tuna and braised cod are particular favourites. He regards chicken as “magical” due to its high protein and low fat content.
For breakfast Ronaldo will eat ham and cheese and low-fat yoghurt.
If he doesn’t have it for brekkie, the former Manchester United star will wolf down avocado toast for snacks during the day.

Lunch No1 could consist of chicken and salad, while No2 might be fish – maybe tuna with salad, eggs and olives.
Dinner will see the football legend fill his boots with meat or fish, maybe breaking them up in two separate sittings.

    FIVE NAPS PER DAY
Steak, swordfish or the Lisbon speciality of Bacalao a la Brasa – a mixture of braised cod, onions, thinly sliced potatoes and scrambled eggs should see him through till bedtime.
Once tucked up, Ronaldo will ensure he has eight hours of sleep each night. That’s in addition to FIVE naps he will take during the day.
Speaking about rest, the Portuguese superstar said: “Proper sleep is really important for getting the most out of training.
“I go to bed early and get up early, especially before matches. Sleep helps muscles recover which is really important.”
Clearly the gym and intense exercise is a huge part of Ronaldo’s life – as shown by his incredible muscle definition and speedy recovery from injury.
The forward follows a Pilates-based routine that focuses on resistance work to strengthen his core.

Cristiano Ronaldo gives cheesy grin after working out on underwater treadmill ahead of Juventus’ clash vs Cagliari
    LOVES SWIMMING
He is also a big fan of swimming, often taking to the pool with son Cristiano Jr.
For all his niggles and knocks sustained on the football pitch, Ronaldo invested in a £50,000 Cryotherapy chamber.
Standing in the chamber for around three minutes, liquid nitrogen freezes Ronaldo to between minus 160 and minus 200 degrees Celsius.
Cryotherapy beats muscle soreness and reduces swelling, inflammation or sprains.
But Ronaldo puts mental health alongside physical health as being key to being happy on the pitch as well as off it.
This involves spending quality time with his family – partner Georgina Rodriguez and his four children Cristiano Jr, twins Mateo and Eva Maria and Alana Martina.
The superstar said: “Mental strength is just as important as physical strength.

“Training and physical sessions are most important, but living a relaxed lifestyle helps you to be the best you can be, physically and mentally.
“I spend my free time with family and friends, which keeps me relaxed and in a positive mindset.”
And the final secret behind Ronaldo’s supreme physical condition – no alcohol.
He has been teetotal since at least 2005 – not only because of the adverse affects on his diet, but also because his father’s death at the age of 20 was alcohol related.

Daniel Sturridge offered transfer lifeline by Serie B champions Benevento after Loic Remy failed medical

SERIE B champions Benevento want Daniel Sturridge – as the former Liverpool striker rebuilds his career after a ban for breaching betting rules.
The ambitious Italians have turned to the Trabzonspor free agent and ex-England star after one-time Chelsea frontman Loic Remy failed a medical.

Former Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City ace Sturridge, 30, was “devastated” to be given a four-month suspension from playing in March.
His initial punishment last summer of a six-week ban, including four suspended, was upgraded when the FA appealed against the findings of an independent commission.
Sturridge’s fine was also doubled to £150,000, with Trabzonspor cancelling his contract by mutual consent the same day.
But now he is eligible to play again and The Mail report Benevento president Oreste Vigorito as saying: “Sturridge would be an honour for any Italian team.”

Benevento manager, former Juventus and AC Milan forward Pippo Inzaghi, is reportedly keen to make experienced signings.
Inzaghi knows the Campania-based club need strengthening after they finished bottom in their only other previous season in Serie A, 2017-18.
And ex-Tottenham striker Fernando Llorente, 35, now with Napoli, is among the other names linked with the top-flight newcomers.

Llorente, 35, won 24 Spain caps and spent a season with Swansea.

Remy, though, seems out of contention after failing his fitness test.
The 33-year-old Lllie ace was in England from 2013 to 2016, at QPR and Stamford Bridge, plus loan spells with Crystal Palace and Newcastle.

Inter Milan plot ‘2021 transfer assault’ to sign Lionel Messi from Barcelona as star’s rift with club grows deeper

INTER MILAN are planning a sensational swoop for Lionel Messi next summer, according to reports.
The Argentine is in the midst of a frosty rift with Barcelona chiefs and the Serie A side look set to try and take advantage of the feud with a “2021 assault”.

    2

Inter Milan are planning to swoop for Lionel Messi next summer

    2

Italian outlet Gazzaetta dello Sport says the Serie A side will try to capitalise on his rift with Barca
Messi’s deal runs out next summer and the Italians hope to lure him away from the Nou Camp with a mega money deal, according to Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 33-year-old superstar has bagged 30 goals in all competitions this season.
And Inter’s majority shareholders Suning Group Holdings reportedly believe they can stump up the dough to prise Messi away from the Nou Camp and to the San Siro next season.
Portuguese outlet A Bola report Inter will offer a three-year deal worth £45.5million-a-year.

It also emerged yesterday Messi’s dad and agent Jorge has splashed out some cash on a plush new pad in the Italian capital Milan.
He is said to be pulling the strings of his son’s potential switch to the Nerazzuri next season.
According to Italian outfit Radio Rai, Jorge purchased a home in Milan’s Porta Nova neighbourhood to prepare for his son’s Barca departure.
It comes after Messi slammed Barcelona as “weak” and “erratic” following their 2-1 home defeat to Osasuna – a result that crowned Madrid champs.

He said: “We didn’t want to end the season like this but it represents how the season has gone.

“We were a very erratic, very weak, low-intensity team. We lost a lot of points and today’s game is a summary of the season.
“We have to be self-critical. Starting with the players but doing a global self-criticism.
“We are Barca and we have to win everything.

“We can’t look at Madrid. Madrid have done their job, but we have helped them a lot.”
Messi has been linked with a transfer to Inter in the past and tyre company Pirelli will reportedly back club president Steven Zhang in an audacious move for the 33-year-old.
But their chief executive admitted the contribution can only be small following the financial fall out of the coronavirus pandemic.
