Lionel Messi obliterates Cristiano Ronaldo in stats over last decade with Juventus ace only matching Barcelona ace ONCE

FOOTBALL’S age-old debate over who is the real GOAT has FINALLY been answered, with Lionel Messi easily beating Cristiano Ronaldo.
Incredible statistics appear to suggest the Barcelona superstar has dominated his Portuguese rival over the last decade.

Football fans have argued endlessly over which player deserves to be crowned the best on the planet.
The pair have collected 11 Ballon d’Or trophies between them, but this is a debate that will long outlive their careers.
Messi, 33, has spent his entire career with Barcelona where has won the LaLiga title ten times and four Champions League titles.
Juventus star Ronaldo, 35, has won league titles in Spain, England and Italy as well the Champions League five times.

However, WhoScored have used over 20 sets of data to rate the pair’s performances over the last decade.
    And there’s one clear winner.
Messi has dominated Spain’s top-flight with an average match rating of 8.6/10 over the last ten years.
Ronaldo has managed an average rating of 8.3/10 during his time with Real Madrid and now Juventus.

The statistics claim there has only been one season in the last decade that Ronaldo has matched Messi on the pitch.
Both of the stars were given a ranking of 8.3/10 for their efforts during the 2013-14 campaign.
And Messi was way ahead of his Ballon d’Or rival in the most-recent season, despite scoring fewer goals.
In all competitions, the Barcelona star has laid on 24 assists and scored 34 goals in 46 appearances.

Ronaldo racked five assists – miles adrift of Messi – and scored 35 goals – just one more than the Barca star – in 46 matches for Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus side.
Twelve players, including Deco and Gonzalo Higuain, have had their say on who is the better player out of the two.
The pair have also given their opinions on each other when quizzed about their rivalry on and off the pitch.

Cristiano Ronaldo ‘unhappy’ and almost joined PSG before lockdown as he ‘dreams of playing with Neymar and Mbappe’

CRISTIANO RONALDO was “unhappy” and came close to joining Paris Saint-Germain before the coronavirus lockdown hit, according to stunning reports in France.
The Portuguese hero, 35, made the switch from Real Madrid to Juventus just two years ago.

But according to France Football, he was weighing up his options and had his heart set on a move to PSG because he dreamed of playing alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
Paris also holds special memories for Ronaldo because it is the city where he won the European Championships with Portugal in 2016.
Ronaldo’s frustrations with the Old Lady allegedly reached its peak in October 2019 following a Champions League tie against Lokomotiv Moscow.
Despite Juve winning the match 2-1, Ronaldo did not score or assist – and missed a sitter – while the team’s performance was below par.

The article adds that he was ready to picture himself away from Allianz Stadium and playing his football elsewhere, realising Turin did not have the same attraction as Madrid or the Premier League.
Instead he was considering PSG as a possible destination – he has a close bond with Neymar and reportedly “adores” Mbappe.
So the chance to form one of the deadliest attacks in world football at a club with the financial backing of Qatar Sports Investments unsurprisingly appealed.
One source even claimed the move was “very probably” before the pandemic put the brakes on a potential move.

    5

However, the impact of coronavirus across the sporting glove means any potential mega-money move to Paris looks to be off the cards again.
Since joining Juventus, Ronaldo has won Serie A in both seasons.
On an individual basis, he has racked up an impressive 63 goals in just 88 appearances but did miss out on the Golden Boot this term to Ciro Immobile.

A statement from EA Sports said: “AS Roma will now be Roma FC, playable and equipped with a custom badge and kit throughout Kick-Off, Career Mode, FIFA Ultimate Team and VOLTA FOOTBALL.
“And Roma FC will now compete in Stadion Olympik.

Ciro Immobile’s wife Jessica surprises him with Golden Shoe cake after beating Cristiano Ronaldo in Euro scoring charts

CIRO IMMOBILE cut into a Golden Shoe cake gifted to the Lazio star by wife Jessica after he topped the scoring charts for all of European football.
For the first time in five years, the continent’s most lethal goal-getter does not play for Barcelona after the Italian’s stunning 36-goal haul.

    3

Ciro Immobile and wife Jessica Melena posed with the cake and Golden Shoe trophy in his hometown of Torre Annunziata

    3

The Lazio forward thanked the bakers behind the cake after a successful season with the Aquile
A strike in Saturday’s defeat to Napoli confirmed his title, two goals ahead of Robert Lewandowski and five clear of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Despite his stunning form over the turn of the year, the Juventus forward finished another Scudetto-winning year with a single strike in the last four games.
Therefore the goal was open for a player not named Ronaldo, Messi or Suarez to win the Golden Shoe for the first time since 2009.
LaLiga forwards had dominated the award with 11 of the previous 12 gongs heading to Spain, leaving Serie A out of the picture since Francesco Totti’s 2007 triumph.

Immobile put paid to that run with seven goals in his last five appearances of the season.
Seven braces and a pair of hat-tricks made up the Lazio ace’s stellar campaign, which did not flounder in spite of his side’s late drop away from the title race.

    3

And it certainly has been coming after the 30-year-old on hot form in each of his previous three years at the Stadio Olimpico.
His record for Lazio now stands at an awesome 125 goals in 178 games – plus 34 assists.

Immobile is also only the third Italian to win the Golden Shoe, following Totti and Luca Toni, with Serie A long famed for its defensive superiority.
Toasting to his success with partner Jessica Melena, she provided a cake with the trophy printed onto white icing, captioning the Instagram post: “With you step by step.”
Immobile wrote on his social media page: “I have loved this sport since I was a child and it was precisely this love and passion that led me to dare and always believe more strongly in my dreams.
“Pushing this higher and higher has not been easy. I thank my wife who held my hand and supported and endured the most difficult days, and my children who made me smile even when things were not going well.”

Despite an amazing year with Bayern Munich, Lewandowski’s 34 goals in 31 games meant he missed out on being the Bundesliga’s first Golden Shoe winner since 1972.
Following Ronaldo’s 31 strikes were Timo Werner on 28 and Lionel Messi on 25.
Erling Haaland netted 29 times across the 2019/20 campaign but his 16 RB Salzburg goals were weighted lower than those in Europe’s top-five leagues, meaning he finished level on 50 points with fifth-placed Messi.

Antonio Conte ‘could leave Inter Milan this summer after just one season after sensational bust-up with board’

INTER MILAN boss Antonio Conte has risked angering the club’s board after he laid into club chiefs after his side finished as runners-up in Serie A.
Following the 2-0 win away at Atalanta that meant Inter ended up just one point behind champions Juventus, Conte stated that he believes the board failed to protect his players from criticism this season.

    1

Speaking after the match, he said: “It has been a tough year on a personal level, very tough.
“I don’t think the players saw their work recognised and I don’t think I saw my work recognised. We all received very little protection from the club.
“We have to grow and improve in all areas, including off the field, and a big club should protect its players more.
“We’ll discuss it all at the end of the season. I have to meet the president (Steven Zhang) and he’s in China right now.”

Before adding: “It was very, very intense this year, difficult, and the lads did well to isolate ourselves and create unity within us, despite the difficulties.
    CONT BELIEVE IT
“I don’t like people who get on the bandwagon and I saw a lot of that with Inter this year.
“We had to take all the poop for months and got zero protection. My problem is that I have a vision, I see the path we have to take and I know what we need to do.
“I can be a lightning rod for the first year, but if you don’t learn and keep making the same mistakes, then that’s just crazy.

“If you want to reduce the gap with Juventus you have to be strong on the pitch but above all off it.”
And according to Sky Sport Italia, Conte’s comments could lead him to depart the San Siro this summer after just one year in charge.

They state that his relationship with the board has never been so strained, and if things don’t get patched up, all signs point towards Conte leaving.
It has been claimed that Inter chiefs have tolerated Conte’s behaviour and outbursts up to now, but his latest remarks have angered the board.
There has even been talk that Massimiliano Allegri could be appointed, with the former Old Lady boss in pole position should Conte leave his role.

Juventus star Ronaldo finished on 31 goals after being left out of the squad as boss Maurizio Sarri rested his star for their Champions League clash with Lyon.
He would have needed five in the end to match Immobile, who scored in Lazio’s final game – a 3-1 defeat at Napoli.
But the five-time Ballon d’Or winner cheered up to celebrate the Serie A title.
It was his second crown since joining Juve from Real Madrid in a £99million deal in 2018.

He has bagged an astonishing 46 goals for club and country this term – and does not look like letting up as he moves into his 36th year.
The Old Lady lost 3-1 at home to Roma in their final match.
But they had already wrapped up the title and were presented with it afterwards.

It was their first home loss in Turin for 40 matches.

But the former Manchester United star was all smiles as he collected his medal and lifted the trophy.

Gonzalo Higuain gave Sarri’s side a fifth-minute lead but Nikola Kalinic headed in to put Roma level.
Diego Perotti struck twice to give Inter the victory.

Cristiano Ronaldo LOSES Golden Boot race after being axed from Juventus squad for final Serie A game of season

CRISTIANO RONALDO will miss out on the Serie A Golden Boot after being axed from the Juventus squad.
The 35-year-old superstar was chasing Lazio’s Ciro Immobile in the race to be Italy’s top league goalscorer.

    1

Cristiano Ronaldo will NOT win Serie A’s Golden Boot this seasonCredit: Reuters
Immobile, 30, has had a phenomenal year in front of goal bagging 35 goals in 36 games to help Lazio secure Champions League qualification.
Ronaldo has found the net 31 times in 33 league appearances for champions Juve.
There is one game left in the Serie A regular season as the Italian competition concludes this weekend.
But Ronaldo will NOT have a chance to catch up after being left out of his side’s squad for their game against Roma tonight.

Immobile will be confirmed as not only the winner of Serie A’s Golden Boot but Europe’s Golden Shoe.
Even if Ronaldo had taken to the field he would have needed a minor miracle to claim the gong.
The former Real Madrid man needed to slam home four goals to have stood a chance of even sharing the award.

His omission from the final day fixture is likely to have been made with one eye on the conclusion of the Champions League.

Juventus host Lyon in the second leg of their last-16 tie on Friday.
Maurizio Sarri’s team will need to overcome a 1-0 deficit if they are to progress at the Allianz Stadium.
