      Inter are already short at the back after Diego Godin left on a free transfer to Cagliari – further intensifying their need for a new defender.
      According to Corriere dello Sport, Inter’s No1 priority is Fiorentina star Nikola Milenkovic.
      But they state it is unlikely they will be able to prise him away from Florence, with Manchester United outcast Smalling an easier deal to make.
      It has been suggested that the Red Devils are prepared to sell the 30-year-old should they receive a fee in the region of £18million.

      However Inter are only prepared to fork out £16.4m, which they would pay across three instalments.
      Should Smalling join the Nerazzurri, he would link-up with former United team-mates Alexis Sanchez, Ashley Young and Romelu Lukaku at the club.
      And his arrival would be the sixth player from the Premier League Antonio Conte would have signed since he took charge last year.
      In addition to the four United players, Inter also signed Christian Eriksen from Tottenham in January, while they also brought in Victor Moses on loan last term.

      But Inter know they face competition from Roma in the race to secure Smalling’s services.
      The Rome outfit are desperate to bring the ex-Fulham ace back to the Stadio Olimpico after his loan spell last campaign.
      It has been said that Roma are preparing one last move to sign Smalling, with boss Paulo Fonseca revealing he is in regular contact with the player.

      Kante and Conte worked together at Stamford Bridge during the latter’s two-year reign in West London – winning the Premier League and FA Cup along the way.
      And according to Gazzetta, Conte believes that bringing the Frenchman to Italy could be the final piece in the jigsaw when it comes to ending Juventus’ dominance and winning the Serie A title this season.
      Kante, 29, has started both of Chelsea’s opening two Premier League matches this term.
      But Inter are confident that the Blues will sell if offered £46m.

      One man that could be sold to help raise funds is highly-rated defender Milan Skriniar.
      Tottenham have held talks with Inter over signing the 25-year-old although are yet to reach agreement, with the Italians demanding £55m for the Slovak.
      But even if Inter are to receive their asking price in full for the defender, some of the money will be used to recruit a replacement – having already missed out on Marash Kumbulla to Roma.

      And instead of rubbishing his former opponents, the ex-Real Madrid legend had nothing but praise for them.
      Ronaldo spent over a decade in Madrid and frequently duelled with Lionel Messi’s Barcelona’s, both domestically and in Europe.
      But ahead of his team-mate’s move, he encouraged him to join the “great” club.
      Pjanic told Mundo Deportivo: “He was disappointed that I was leaving Juventus, but he told me that he thinks I will have a lot of fun in a great team like Barcelona.

      “Cristiano has been very professional at Juventus, he is a player who has shown many things and has been very important in the dressing room, setting an example for everyone.”
      The 30-year-old also said the culture of the club was key to getting him to join.
      He added: “The mentality is the important thing and the one they have is unique.
      “They play for many years at a top level and for that you have to be focused on your work, you have to love football.

      Pjanic joined Barcelona for £45.8million, with Arthur Melo going the other way for £66m.

      And according to AS, the Bluagrana will act fast in their pursuit to bolster their frontline.

      They state that both Lyon star Memphis Depay and Inter Milan marksman Lautaro Martinez are the club’s top two targets.
      Argentine international Martinez is believed to be the No1 priority for Barca, but it is unlikely he will be brought in.

      Italian media reported on Thursday that the Swede had tested positive for the illness following team-mate Leo Duarte’s diagnosis.

      Milan players underwent extra tests on Wednesday, ahead of facing Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League.
      And the Rossoneri confirmed that Ibrahimovic, 38, had tested positively for the virus.
      A statement read: “Zlatan Ibrahimovic has tested positive for Covid-19 following a second round of swab tests ahead of tonight’s game against Bodø/Glimt.
      “The club has informed the relevant authorities and the player has been promptly placed in quarantine at home. All other team members and staff have tested negative.”

      But the player shrugged off the illness, stating he has no symptoms and calling his infection a “bad idea” on behalf of the virus.
      He tweeted: “I tested negative to Covid yesterday and positive today.
      “No symptoms what so ever. Covid had the courage to challenge me. Bad idea.”
      Brazilian centre-back Duarte was in the squad for Milan’s win over Bologna.

      Appearing for 18 minutes off the bench on Monday, he has since been placed in self-isolation and the club undertook extra testing as a result.
      An initial round of swabs confirmed no new cases in the squad.
      Ibrahimovic’s case then appeared during Wednesday’s testing, as part of the mandatory checks before the Europa League play-off tie.
      Scoring twice in the 2-0 win over Bologna, the veteran forward joked that he felt like Benjamin Button on his second stint at the San Siro.
      He told Sky Sports Italia: “I’m fine, I’m working, this is the second official match
      “We won, I could have scored more goals. If I was 20, I would have scored another two.
