Cristiano Ronaldo gets ‘irritated’ when Cristiano Jr has coke and crisps – but won’t pressure him to become footballer

CRISTIANO RONALDO has insisted he will not ‘pressure’ eldest son Cristiano Jr into a footballing career.
The youngster is part of Juventus’ academy and has impressed in a number of youth tournaments.

A career in the game is not expected of the youngster – despite his upbringing

But, according to his dad, the 10-year-old is partial to a bottle of coke and packet of crisps.
Speaking after being named Player of the Century at Dubai’s Globe Soccer Awards, he confessed his ‘irritation’ at some of his son’s habits.
A Bola, via Football Italia, quote Ronaldo as saying: “We’ll see if my son will become a great footballer.
“Sometimes he drinks coke and eats crisps and it irritates me, he knows that.

“Sometimes I tell my son to take a dip in cold water to recover after a run on the treadmill and he says, ‘Dad, it’s so cold there’.
“That’s fine, he is only 10 years old.”

Cristiano Jr is the eldest of Ronaldo’s four kids, along with twins Eva and Mateo and daughter Alana Martina, who the Juve winger had with partner Georgina Rodriguez.
Although the young lad is naturally a talented player, as seen in backyard training clips posted by the legendary forward, a career in the game is not guaranteed.

And Ronaldo, 35, admitted he would ‘like’ to see Junior follow in his footsteps.

I won’t pressure him into becoming a footballer, but I would like it.
    Cristiano Ronaldo

He added: “I always tell him that it takes work and dedication to have success.
“I won’t pressure him into becoming a footballer, but I would like it.
“The most important thing is to become the best in his field, whether it is football or medicine.”

The ceremony was held at the iconic Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world.
Ronaldo wore a dapper grey suit with a red tie, matching his partner’s sparkly red dress.
The Juventus forward was joined by fellow football stars of the past and present.
Liverpool legend Ian Rush, 59, was pictured with his Irish singer and model fiancee Carol Anthony, 43.

Gerard Pique, 33, and Robert Lewandowski, 32, were all smiles as they arrived at the ceremony.
Even former boxing world champion Amir Khan, 34, was a guest alongside his wife Faryal Makhdoom, 29.
Bayern Munich forward Lewandowski won the Player of the Year award – despite the vote initially going to Ronaldo.
Voting is open to the public and such is Ronaldo’s popularity, he topped the poll.

But according to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, the 35-year-old and his agent Jorge Mendes admitted the decision was unfair.
And they are said to have instead insisted that Lewandowski be handed the award.
But Ronaldo did pip long-time rival Lionel Messi, 33, and Barcelona legend Ronaldinho as the Player of the Century.
After winning the award, he said: “For 20 consecutive years I have played and scored as a professional, I didn’t know there was another record to beat.
“It’s a pleasure to hear about the records, I have achieved all this but without my team-mates, without a great team, I would not have achieved these records.”

Cristiano Ronaldo reveals ‘2am massages’ have kept him at the top as he’s named Player of the Century in Dubai

SunSport previously revealed that CR7 chooses to take five 90-minute naps rather than sleep all night.
And the five-time Ballon d’Or winner himself has now revealed he gets massages to recover in the early hours of the morning.
He said: “A few weeks ago they chose the best 11 for the Ballon d’Or and I was there.
“An honor to be here at this gala with these fantastic players like [Iker] Casillas, [Robert] Lewandowski, [Gerard] Pique.

“I am [nearly] 36 years old but I still love football, I love my life and I love my family and children.
“I have been doing the same things and often the same exercises for fifteen years. Sometimes I arrive at 2am, I do a massage at the SPA to recover.
“Iker Casillas is an example for us, when he had his problem he was an example because sometimes we don’t appreciate what we have.”
Ronaldo pipped long-time rival Lionel Messi, 33, and Barcelona legend Ronaldinho to be named as the Player of the Century.

The 35-year-old, who wants to play at the highest level until he is 40, later reaffirmed that he has no plans of slowing down.
He said: “It is an exceptional achievement. It gives me the motivation to move forward.
“To be named the best is a great honour, I hope that this situation is over next year and that we can have more fun, thank you very much.

PSG eye Christian Eriksen swap transfer with Paredes going to Inter but incoming boss Pochettino wants to keep Argentine

PSG want former Spurs star Christian Eriksen – but Mauricio Pochettino is unwilling to let Inter have Leandro Paredes in exchange.
Pochettino has yet to be confirmed as PSG boss but is already at the centre of some spectacular transfer talk.

PSG’s Leandro Paredes is said to be in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans, despite being linked with an Inter Milan swap deal involving Christian EriksenCredit: Getty Images – Getty

And le10sport suggest Poch is keen on a reunion with his former Tottenham playmaker Eriksen, whose 11 months with Inter have gone from bad to worse.
The Italian giants have been strongly linked with PSG’s Argentina midfielder Paredes.
But it is thought Poch is keen to keep his fellow countryman.
Pochettino would reportedly face competition from Etihad chief Pep Guardiola for Denmark playmaker Eriksen.

Fcinternews claim City are monitoring the 28-year-old but would struggle to persuade him to join.
Inter have already admitted Eriksen is heading out in next month’s transfer window.
CEO Giuseppe Marotta told Sky Italia: “Yes, I can confirm that Christian Eriksen is on the transfer list.
“He’s going to leave in January.

“He’s not functional to our plans and he had difficulty here at Inter.
“I think it’s right that Christian goes away to find more space.”
PSG’S list of other possible targets under incoming Poch is said to include Spurs midfielder Dele Alli, with speculation even surrounding Barcelona legend Lionel Messi and Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo, 35, has also been talked of as the lower-valued player in a swap for Manchester United’s Paul Pogba.

And certainly Alli seems a far more realistic option, at least in the short term.
The 24-year-old seems to be slipping further and further out of the first-team picture under current Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho.
And his best football clearly came under Pochettino.

Ibrahimovic snubs Ballon d’Or and says he wouldn’t swap his 12 Swedish player of the year awards for prestigious gong

ZLATAN IBRAHIMOVIC has dismissed his lack of Ballon d’Or crowns – preferring the ‘continuity’ he has shown with several Swedish honours.
The Guldbollen is Sweden’s footballer of the year prize and AC Milan striker Ibrahimovic ended a short dry spell to reclaim the gong in 2020.

It was the striker’s 12th victory in the award, a record by some margin, having lost out in the last two years to Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof.
And he insisted that the honour is more important to him than a single Ballon d’Or would ever be.
Ibrahimovic told SportWeek, via Goal: “I wouldn’t swap my 12 Guldbollen for one from France Football because, for me, they mean continuity.
“I have seen many who have won the World Cup, European Championship, Champions League, even the Ballon d’Or, had a wonderful year, fantastic.

“Then later they disappeared, but I’ve been in the game for 25 years.
“Always at the top. It’s a big difference.”

I am Santa Claus. I am the one who brings gifts to all my 27 children. Two are in Sweden and the other 25 are at Milanello.
    Zlatan Ibrahimovic

The 39-year-old is enjoying his latest renaissance with Serie A leaders Milan.
Were the Ballon d’Or on this year, he would have a decent chance of a nomination thanks to his ten goals in six league games this campaign.

In fact, Ibrahimovic has been on the longlist 11 times with a best finish of fourth in the 2013 awards.
Milan sit one point above rivals Inter going into the New Year, following a last-gasp win over Lazio last time out.
The veteran striker, currently out with a calf injury, remarked that he is bringing gifts to the ‘children’ he guides in the San Siro dressing room.
Ibrahimovic said: “I never ask for anything for myself [at Christmas].

“I am Santa Claus. I am the one who brings gifts to all my 27 children. Two are in Sweden and the other 25 are at Milanello.
“This year, huge congratulations for what we have done and what we’re doing.
“We’ve lost very few games. I don’t know if that’s thanks to me, but I did do something, I brought something in.”

Ex-Chelsea and Arsenal star Nicolas Anelka admits he is ‘ashamed’ of nightmare spell at Juventus after 2013 transfer

NICOLAS ANELKA has played for some of the biggest clubs in the world but he admits he got it wrong at Juventus.
After a career that spanned France, England, Turkey, China and India, the former striker has described his stint in Italy as the worst of his career.

Signing on a six-month loan from Shanghai Shenhua in January 2013, Anelka played just three times and failed to score as the Bianconeri won the league.
Speaking to TuttoJuve in 2019, the Frenchman, 41, said: “I had decided to accept Juve because it is a great club, with a good history and also because they were leading Serie A.
“Unfortunately, this will remain my worst experience [in football] since I only played 45 minutes and I never wore the shirt at Juventus Stadium in front of the fans.
“Honestly, when someone talks to me about Juventus I try to change the subject immediately… I’m ashamed of that transfer!

“I played and scored for all the teams I signed for, except Juve.
“So without disrespecting that great team, it cannot be said that I was their player because of how that experience went.”
The forward spent the first couple of months on Juve’s bench, all three outings coming off the bench, before injury took him out of a chunk of the run-in.
    COACH NIC
Few footballers can boast the trophy cabinet of Anelka, who added the Scudetto to his CV despite the quiet Juventus spell.

He also won league titles with Arsenal, Fenerbahce and Chelsea, a Champions League with Real Madrid, and Euro 2000 with France.
Now retired, Anelka wants to pursue a career in coaching having tried his hand at working with Ligue 1 side Lille’s academy.

The Parisian noted: “I have just finished working for Lille, I was the attacking coach.
    “It was a wonderful experience.
“This year I have passed my qualifications and I can finally become a coach.”

Arsenal loanee Lucas Torreira wanted by Torino in January tranfer after just two LaLiga starts for Atletico Madrid

SERIE A side Torino are reportedly chasing Lucas Torreira for an early end to the midfielder’s Atletico Madrid loan spell.
Arsenal allowed the Uruguayan to leave North London after Thomas Partey’s arrival in the autumn.

But Torreira has not been a regular at Estadio Wanda Metropolitano and is being eyed for a quick exit.
According to Mundo Deportivo, a Torino bid would be something of a longshot.
The Italians are said to be dreaming of a major signing in January to boost their fight against relegation.
Although Diego Simeone is unlikely to let Torreira leave, even though he has only started two LaLiga games for Atleti.

The possibility of Mikel Arteta recalling the player to Arsenal has also been reported on in recent weeks, something the coach failed to dismiss.
Refusing to comment specifically on Torreira, he said: “Edu has been dealing with that situation.

“But again, when the market opens and we have the possibility to bring players in and get players out, whatever we have to do, we will discuss it.”
The 24-year-old’s legal representative, Pablo Betancur, spoke recently of Torreira’s ‘calm and happy’ attitude in Madrid.

That is despite playing just over 45 minutes of football in Atletico’s last eight league games.
Betancur told Gianluca Di Marzio: “Lucas is calm and happy and has nothing in his mind beyond continuing with Atletico.
“He is finishing his process of adaptation [to the team and LaLiga].”
Los Rojiblancos have put together a stunning start to the season, sitting level on points with Real Madrid at the top of LaLiga with two games in hand.

After Torreira’s debut in October, boss Simeone praised his new man’s abilities.
He said: “He is a very hard-working boy, we are going to need him.
“He competes very well, he will give us a lot of strength there in the middle of the pitch, where he picks up the pace of the game.
“His speed, going out quickly during the circulation of the ball in the middle, will generate more pace in that part of the pitch and, hopefully, he will find his best form.”

Celtic star Odsonne Edouard eyed by Juventus and AC Milan in transfer swoop with looking to strengthen attack

JUVENTUS and AC Milan have reportedly joined the chase for Celtic’s Odsonne Edouard.
The French striker, 22, has been linked with a move away from the Scottish champions for months.

The Hoops managed to hold on to the hotshot last summer, despite plenty of Premier League interest.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is known to be a fan of the forward.
And both Aston Villa and ex-Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers, now in charge of Leicester, would love to bring him south of the border.
However, calciomercato.it now state Edouard will soon have two very tempting offers from Serie A.

Both Juventus and Milan want to strengthen their attack and are believed to be considering making a move.
Juve boss Antonio Conte remains unconvinced by Alvaro Morata and is considering several targets as a replacement.
Meanwhile Milan have 39-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic leading their attack.
And Edouard is viewed as a potential long-term replacement for the legendary Swede.

The best available free agents still on the market

A number of other high profile European clubs are also monitoring Edouard’s position.
Celtic were desperate to keep the goalscorer at Parkhead for as long as possible but they could be tempted to cash in next month.
They trail Rangers by 16 points in the race for the title, and a big-money sale would enable them to put that money into a squad overhaul.
