Barcelona new boy Pjanic slams ex-Chelsea chief Maurizio Sarri for ‘misjudging’ and ‘failing to trust’ Juventus stars

MIRALEM PJANIC has hit out at ex-Juventus boss Maurizio Sarri, claiming the tactician “didn’t trust” his own players last season.
Former Chelsea manager Sarri spent just one year in Turin before being replaced by Andrea Pirlo.

He arrived after leading the Blues to Europa League glory in 2019.
But Juventus failed to adapt to his tactics, despite them turning previous side Napoli into one of Europe’s most exciting teams.
Sarri – who has since been linked with Fiorentina – did manage to hold off challenges from Inter Milan, Lazio and Atalanta to win his first-ever Serie A title.

But after crashing out of the Champions League to Lyon in the last-16, Sarri was sacked from his post.

And Pjanic, who ditched Juventus for Barcelona over the summer, has now lifted the lid on life under Sarri.
The playmaker has not painted a pretty picture though, claiming he was left “disturbed” by Sarri’s man-management skills and lack of trust in the squad.
Pjanic told Tuttosport: “What still disappoints me to this day is that Sarri didn’t trust his men and that disturbed me.
“The way he misjudged people remains the worst aspect, because every player in that locker room has always and will always give their all for the club and team.

“You might not get along with one or two, but that has never affected our efforts.
“Every player wants to win, because they are incredible professionals who want to pursue their objective.
“So, if a coach puts that into doubt, it means you don’t have that alchemy that the president talked about.
“Nobody is doubting Sarri’s qualities as a coach, but there was this problem.
“At the end of the day, we still brought home another Scudetto, which must never be taken for granted.”

He will now be hope to make his return in the Serie A game against Spezia on November 1.
Ronaldo first contracted the virus while on international duty in October.

The Juve star immediately left Portugal’s training camp and flew to Turin in a private air ambulance.

Italy shuts stadiums again just month after reopening with coronavirus cases on rise… and one club has at least 27

ITALY are set to perform a U-turn on allowing fans back into stadiums after just one month due to a rise in coronavirus cases.
The Mail claim a new Government decree will come into effect on Monday that scraps the rule that 1,000 supporters can attend football games.

Coronavirus cases in Italy reached more than 21,000 on Sunday leading to new measures to combat the second wave.
The report came just hours before AC Milan confirmed that Gianluigi Donnarumma and Jens Petter Hauge are among five members to have returned a positive test.
Both players will now be forced into isolation and will be forced to miss out on the team’s clash against Roma on Monday.
And that followed the news that several other players, including Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, tested postive for coronavirus in recent weeks.

While Italian reports claim Serie B side Reggiana have as many as 21 infected causing their upcoming fixtures to be postponed.
The debate over allowing fans back into grounds has continued in the UK – with Britain having 874,000 cases compared to Italy’s 526,000.
David Moyes recently questioned why fans couldn’t watch West Ham’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City in the stadium, when they can watch it inside a nearby cinema.
He said: “Firstly the best I can do is the leave the Government, the people who know the best and are speaking to all the advisors, to that because I’m certainly not an expert on a pandemic.

“But I watched the European games this week and have seen crowds back in different countries, and it’s hard to believe we can’t do that.
“I don’t think any of us want 500 or 1,000 people back in the grounds, we need a good percentage of capacity – 25 or 30 per cent. Why can those countries be doing it and not us?
“Are we so much worse than the others? Again, it’s not probably not my bag but I feel it’s not right.
“And people going watch a game in a cinema, close to here, why can we not be sitting outside in the open air doing it?
“Maybe there’s other reasons – maybe it’s the travelling on the tube, the bus, maybe it’s the pubs. But if that is the case, please come out and give us an explanation as to why we can’t do it.”

Tottenham and Everton in transfer battle for Arkadiusz Milik with Napoli striker set to leave in January window

TOTTENHAM and Everton are locked in a race to sign Napoli striker Arkadiusz Milik in January.
The Poland international’s contract runs out next summer which has left some of the Premier League’s biggest clubs licking their lips.

But they’ll face a challenge from Juventus, who are keen to pick him up for free when his Napoli agreement expires.
But Milik may not want to wait until June to leave, potentially leaving Spurs and the Toffees with the edge.
The 26-year-old has not made an appearance for Napoli all season, and has been left out of their Serie A and Champions League squads.
And while Calciomercato.com reported that Milik was willing to run down his contract and join Juve, it is believed he is now growing impatient and may opt for a more immediate move.

Milik told Sportowefakty.pl earlier in October: “Now, I’ll wait for the next transfer window and I hope the clubs can find an understanding. Physically I’m fine, I have trained well individually.
“I will play matches with the national side. In three months, my form won’t be too much affected.”
Tottenham and Everton were both interested in the forward during the summer but were unable to get any deal over the line.
His scoring stats suggest he will add a consistent streak of goal scoring to either team.

He netted 14 in 35 games across all competitions last season for Napoli.

Since signing for the Italian side from Ajax in 2016, he has 38 goals in 93 appearances, a ratio just short of one in three.
If he was to join Tottenham, he would add to an already terrifying forward line bolstered by the recent signings of Gareth Bale and Carlos Vinicius.
Meanwhile, Everton looked short up front during yesterday’s defeat at Southampton with forward man Richarlison missing after being sent off against Liverpool.
