Watch Luis Muriel score stunning free-kick after Atalanta team-mates built a ‘moving wall’ against Real Madrid

ATALANTA pulled off an outrageous ‘moving wall’ free-kick routine in their loss to Real Madrid last night.Luis Muriel buried his strike from 25 yards past Thibaut Courtois in the Champions League last 16 tie.

Atalanta tried out something different for their free-kick routine vs. Real Madrid. They built their own moving wall, too! 😂It worked, as Luis Muriel found the back of the net with a dipping effort 💥 pic.twitter.com/VJQXkyXJfJ— Football on BT Sport (@btsportfootball) March 16, 2021

And he was helped by his team-mates’ brilliant plan to distract the Real Madrid goalkeeper.
Muriel, 29, lined up to take the free-kick seven minutes before the end in the Spanish capital.
Courtois built a four-man wall and had another Real team-mate lay on the floor to prevent Muriel from going low.
But the Serie A side had their own clever ideas too.
Three of Muriel’s team-mates lined up halfway between the free-kick taker and the Real Madrid wall.
And when the referee blew his whistle for the kick to be taken, they ran off in different directions.
Muriel’s strike went up and over the wall before beating a despairing Courtois, who couldn’t prevent it from finding the top corner.

Another tweeted: “One of the best free kicks I’ve seen, well played by Atalanta.”

Sadly for Atalanta it didn’t matter as they lost 3-1 on the night and 4-1 on aggregate.
Karim Benzema opened the scoring last night before Sergio Ramos tucked home the second from the penalty spot.
Marco Asensio rounded off the victory five minutes from time to seal a spot in Friday’s quarter-final draw.

Brazil star Adriano ‘looked like an alien’ in first Inter Milan training session and left team-mate Materazzi stunned

But Materazzi has revealed that excitement quickly grew among his team-mates.
He told Gazzetta dello Sport: “He was a boy we didn’t know anything about, but he showed the strength and technique he had in the first training session.
    “He looked like an alien.
“We were used to Ronaldo and Christian Vieri but he immediately impressed us.”
The ex-defender also recalled Adriano’s first proper outing in an Inter shirt.
He continued: “We saw him the day before the match when he tried free-kicks.
“Against Real Madrid there was Luigi Di Biagio, Clarence Seedorf and myself over the ball.
“Hector Cuper wanted Adriano to take it though, and he fired in a missile. Di Biagio and I could not believe our eyes.

“He ran to the bench while we stopped because we did not think he could hit the ball that hard. There was the moment that the star of Adriano was born.”
Adriano scored a dramatic 90th minute winner against Venezia on just his second Serie A appearance, but would take a roundabout route to stardom in Milan.
After a loan spell at Fiorentina, the forward spent 18 months at Parma, before eventually returning to Inter in January 2004.
He went on to win four Serie A titles and two Coppa Italias, scoring 74 goals for the club before returning to Flamengo in 2009.
Following brief spells with AS Roma, Corinthians, Atletico Paranaense and Miami United, Adriano hung up his boots in 2016.
He’d struggled to find his best form following the tragic passing of his father, with his application in football waning and form declining.
Now 39, the popular ex-forward recently sold his £1.2million mansion and moved into a luxury £10,000-a-month hotel room – only bringing his trophies with him.

Katia, who lives in Brazil, wrote: “I didn’t expect news like this. Today my heart is in mourning and now just memories are left.
“Rest in peace my dear uncle. I will remember our good moments together.
“I thought I was going to see you again, to laugh with you, to give you a hug again.”
The unnamed uncle has been described as a brother of Cristiano’s mum Dolores Aveiro – who suffered her own health scare last year.
The 66-year-old was rushed to hospital on March 3, 2020, in her native island of Madeira after suffering an ischemic stroke.
CR7’s mum Dolores has since posted a photo of her brother.
The message alongside it said: “My brother. God wanted you to depart. To be with our parents. Another star looking over us. Rest in peace.”
Meanwhile, the Juventus forward’s dad Dinis Aveiro died from liver failure in 2005.
Cristiano has yet to make any comment.
Elma wrote alongside a black rose on her Instagram: “It’s always sad to receive this news.

“I know we all have to depart some time, some soon than others.

Chelsea and Tottenham ‘considering Paulo Dybala transfer swoop and will pay up to £47m for Juventus star’

CHELSEA and Tottenham are reportedly lining up a £47million swoop for Juventus striker Paulo Dybala. The Argentine hitman, 27, could be forced to leave Turin with the Serie A champions facing a financial crisis.

And that has alerted a number of clubs with France Football saying Chelsea and Tottenham are considering a swoop.
Dybala has scored just three times this season having been plagued by an MCL knee injury.
His contract expires in 2022 but injury issues are hampering his chances of signing a new deal in the coming weeks.
Juve managing director Fabio Paratici recently admitted that the club are concerned by his fitness woe.
Talks over a new contract are taking place but could continue for ‘months’.
He said: “Paulo still has a few problems – it’s like he’s on a swing.
“Some days he’s better and others he’s worse. He seemed okay (last week), then he felt some pain again.
“We have spoken [about this contract], we have been speaking and will continue to speak in the next few days and months.”

Manchester United and Liverpool have also been linked with the Argentine forward.
According to calciomercato.com, Juventus need to salvage some funds when the transfer market reopens.
The club reportedly posted losses of £97.5m earlier this season.
And they are therefore bracing themselves to lose some of their biggest names including Dybala, Cristiano Ronaldo and Matthijs de Ligt.
That could see Ronaldo, under contract at the Allianz Stadium until 2022, allowed to leave a year early from his £540,000-a-week deal.
Their talisman has been linked with a sensational return to Real Madrid, with Zinedine Zidane even confirming a move could be on.

Cristiano Ronaldo lucky to avoid red card after Juventus star kicks Cagliari keeper Cragno in neck in horror challenge

CRISTIANO RONALDO somehow avoided a red card after kicking the opposition goalkeeper in the neck.
And to make matters worse for Cagliari, the Juventus forward went on to score a hat-trick and secure a 3-1 win on Sunday night.

Cristiano Ronaldo escaped without a red card despite this horror challenge on Cagliari goalkeeper Alessio CragnoCredit: AFP or licensors

With Juve leading 1-0 thanks to his bullet header, the game could have changed in the 14th minute when Ronaldo went flying in for a tackle.
Goalkeeper Alessio Cragno bravely palmed the high ball away under pressure.
But Ronaldo dangerously left his right boot incredibly high and clattered into the face and neck of Cragno.
The stopper stayed down injured and suffered a nasty gash on his chin which required treatment.

    Ronaldo deserved a red card.
    Ex-referee Luca Marelli

Referee Gianpaolo Calvarese showed a yellow card to the 35-year-old five-time Ballon d’Or winner but for some reason did not watch a replay on the VAR monitor as Ronaldo got a lucky escape.
This was a clear example of serious foul play where a player endangers the safety of an opponent – as per Rule 12.3 of the Ifab Laws of the Game.
The ruling says: “Any player who lunges at an opponent in challenging for the ball from the front, from the side or from behind using one or both legs, with excessive force or endangers the safety of an opponent is guilty of serious foul play.”
CHELTENHAM SPECIAL OFFER – GET THE FIRST RACE FAVOURITE AT HUGE 50/1 PRICE

Cagliari president Tommaso Giulini was furious Ronaldo did not see red.
He told Sky Sport Italia: “I am above all upset that Ronaldo was not sent off, as that incident could’ve changed the game.
“It was dangerous play, it put the safety of our goalkeeper at risk and therefore ought to be punished with a red card. This is what the rulebook states.”
Plenty of fans also vented their anger at the inexplicable decision not to send Ronaldo off.
One fumed: “Juve mafia. Ronaldo starts his wwe career with a yellow for this. CLEAR RED FOR RONALDO.
“He should’ve gotten this red in the 14th minute so it would’ve changed the game massively.”
Another fumed: “This is a red card 10/10 times unless you have ‘Ronaldo’ written on the back of your shirt.”
Former referee Luca Marelli agreed and said: “Ronaldo deserved a red card, although not intentional, it’s a serious foul that deserved a red card, too bad VAR didn’t intervene.”
However, another ex-whistler, Paolo Casarin, stuck by Calvarese’s call with his own personal interpretation of the rules – which seemed to suggest he was taking intent into consideration.

He should have been shown a red card !! Karate kid on the goalkeeper ! But hey it’s Juventus ! Thieves !!

    — I_Smell_A_Rat (@ISmellARat4) March 14, 2021

He told Corriere dello Sport: “I was surprised by Cristiano Ronaldo’s entry on Cragno and I went to carefully read the rules to see what they say.
“The contact was absolutely not [worthy of a] red, since there was no vigour and nastiness.”
Ronaldo put the incident behind him to race clear and win a penalty on 25 minutes, with Cragno the man to bring the Portuguese down.
He blasted his penalty in before completing his hat-trick with a left-footed strike just after the half-hour mark.
The Juventus star – who came in for heavy criticism following their Champions League exit to Porto last week – touched the top of his neck in celebration.
It is thought he was pointing to his ear to silence the haters but others interpreted it as him suggesting he only caught Cragno in the neck.
The win for Andrea Pirlo’s side moved them on to 55 points, ten behind Serie A leaders Inter.

With the Serie A champions facing significant financial challenges amid the coronavirus pandemic, it has been speculated the forward could leave.
Former team Real Madrid – who sold Ronaldo to Juve for £100m in 2018 – were a subject to shock interest in re-signing the superstar.
But Old Lady CEO Fabio Paratici suggested the 36-year-old will be at the club for many years to come.
Paratici told Sky Sport Italia: “It makes me laugh. I never imagined Ronaldo could be put into question.

“I grew up in a small town and I heard people discussing Michel Platini, Gigi Rivera, Roberto Baggio, top players inside bars.
“Ronaldo won five Ballons d’Or, I don’t know how many Champions League titles. He won so many trophies and has scored so many goals at Juventus.
“It’s a privilege to have him here, we are happy to have him here. He surely represents the future of Juventus.”
Ronaldo, 36, is believed to earn around £1.1m-a-WEEK gross – which accounts for around a fifth of Juve’s entire wage budget.

Come the summer, he will still have a year left on his contract.
But according to Diario AS, Ronaldo is keen to make a remarkable return to the Bernabeu.
After joining for a then-world record fee of £80m from Manchester United in 2009, Ronaldo broke all kinds of records in the Spanish capital.
He scored 450 goals in 438 games for Madrid, while winning two league titles and four Champions Leagues.
Ronaldo reportedly left Santiago Bernabeu because he no longer felt ‘indispensable’ in the eyes of president Florentino Perez.
But Juve chief Paratici has made it clear he values the Portugal captain and wants him to stay in Italy.

Juventus star Aaron Ramsey suffers new injury blow and is a major doubt for Wales’ World Cup qualifiers

AARON RAMSEY is a major doubt for Wales’ upcoming World Cup qualifiers with a thigh injury.

Dragons caretaker boss Robert Page names his squad on Monday for the Group E qualifying clashes against Belgium in Leuven on March 24 before hosting the Czech Republic six days later.
Discussing Ramsey in his pre-match press conference, Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo said: “He has physical problems and is unable to get continuity to his performances because he has to stop every two or three games.
“In the past, he has had major problems that have kept him away from the pitch for months.
“He is precious because he knows how to make the team play well and he plays well.

“He has only this physical weakness that forces him to stay out every now and then.”
Ramsey has featured just 18 times in Serie A this season, scoring twice, and has played the full 90 minutes just twice.
The national side are awaiting results of a scan before they can confirm the former Arsenal star’s absence.
Ramsey has won 61 caps for Wales and was a star performer during the run to the Euro 2016 semi-finals but the frequency of his injuries has hampered his availability.

Despite Ramsey’s absence, Juve bounced back from their Champions League disappointment – Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a 32-minute hat-trick to seal all three points.
The Welshman joined Juventus from the Gunners on a free transfer in 2019.
It is estimated the Gunners have lost more than £200million in transfer fees because of bad business.
Arsenal legend Robert Pires believes Ramsey will return to the club in the next few years.
Juventus are said to be keen on bringing Paul Pogba back to Turin, although Manchester United are not believed to be interested in a swap deal involving Ramsey.

Pele congratulates Cristiano Ronaldo for beating his career goals tally as hat-trick takes Juventus superstar to 770

PELE has congratulated Cristiano Ronaldo for beating his career goals tally.
The Juventus superstar netted a hat-trick today, as Andrea Pirlo’s side downed Cagliari 3-1 in Serie A.

CR7 shares a lot of respect with Brazilian legend PeleCredit: AFP

Many believed that Ronaldo, 36, surpassed the Brazilian’s record in January, when he netted his 757th and 758th official goals against Udinese.
So some eyebrows were raised when Pele sent a tweet this afternoon, congratulating the Portuguese forward.
The 80-year-old tweeted, alongside a picture of the duo: “@Cristiano, what a beautiful journey you are having!
“I admire you a lot and this is no secret to anyone. Congratulations on breaking my record of goals in official matches.

“I leave this photo in your honour, with great affection, as a symbol of a friendship that has existed for many years.”
Ronaldo himself took to his Facebook page to clear up the situation.
He wrote: “The last few weeks were filled with news and stats considering me the World’s Top Scorer in football history, overcoming Pele’s 757 official goals. Although I’m thankful for that recognition, now it’s time for me to explain why I didn’t acknowledge that record until this moment.
“My everlasting and unconditional admiration for mister Edson Arantes do Nascimento, such as the respect that I have for mid-20th century football, led me to take into account his 767 score, assuming his 9 goals for Sao Paulo State Team, as well as his single goal for the Brazilian Military Team, as official goals.

Pele, 80, remains one of the most decorated players in the history of footballCredit: Alamy

“The World as changed since then and football as changed as well, but this doesn’t mean that we can just erase history according to our interests.
“Today, as I reach the 770th official goal in my professional career, my first words go straight to @pele. There’s no player in the World who hasn’t been raised listening to stories about his games, his goals and his achievements, and I’m no exception.
“And for that reason, I’m filled with joy and pride as I acknowledge the goal that put’s me on top of the World’s goalscoring list, overcoming Pele’s record, something that I could never have dreamed of while growing up as a child from Madeira.
“Thanks to all of those who took part of this amazing journey with me. To my team-mates, to my opponents, to the fans of the beautiful game all over the World and, above all, to my family and close friends: trust me when I say that I couldn’t have done it without you.

Believe me, this story is still far from being over
    Cristiano Ronaldo

“Now I can’t wait for the next games and challenges! The next records and trophies! Believe me, this story is still far from being over. The future is tomorrow and there’s still a lot to win for Juventus and Portugal!
“Join me in this journey! Let’s go!”
After his third effort against Cagliari, Ronaldo pointed to his ear in defiance, after facing a week of criticism following the Old Lady’s Champions League exit at the hands of Porto.
He grabbed the first after just 10 minutes, launching a trademark leap to convert a free header from Juan Cuadrado’s out-swinging corner.
And it was 2-0 around 15 minutes later, when he coolly netted from the penalty spot.

That’s a first half HAT-TRICK for Cristiano Ronaldo! 🎩Looks like he’s heard the criticism since Juve’s shock Champions League exit 👂 pic.twitter.com/oMvvnmtLki
    — Premier Sports 📺 (@PremierSportsTV) March 14, 2021

Ronaldo then wasted little time grabbing the match ball.
Federico Chiesa brilliantly launched Juve downfield on the counter-attack.
And at the end of his lung-busting run, the 23-year-old calmly found Ronaldo on the right side of the penalty area.
The former Real Madrid star chopped onto his left-foot, before rifling the ball past the helpless Alessio Cragno.
The 3-1 win sees Juve go back to within ten points of league leaders Inter Milan with a game in hand, after Antonio Conte’s side beat Juve’s city rivals Torino 2-1 earlier on Sunday.
Despite having beaten Pele’s record, Ronaldo remains behind Czech striker Igor Bican, who Fifa claim scored 805 career goals in the 1940s and 50s.
