      Man Utd revenue down almost 20 per cent as Europe’s elite clubs lose more than £1BN due to coronavirus crisis

      MANCHESTER UNITED’S revenue dropped almost 20 per cent as a result of the coronavirus crisis.
      And 20 of Europe’s elite football clubs lost more than £1billion combined as the financial impact on the beautiful game became clearer.

      KPMG Football Benchmark’s The European Champions Report revealed the shocking figures for the 2019-20 season.
      Published this month, it highlights how clubs fared while dealing with the global pandemic.
      And United were among the worst hit of the 20 sampled clubs – as Ed Woodward anticipated last year.
      The Old Trafford side saw their operating revenues fall to £516million, a drop of 18.5 per cent.

      Fellow English sides Liverpool turned over £496m (7.9 per cent drop) and Tottenham took in £408m (12.3 per cent) as they took a slightly softer blow.
      However, Scottish champions Celtic’s revenue dropped by 15.5 per cent.
      From the 20 clubs, Porto came out worst with a staggering 50.5 per cent drop with Roma second on 39.3 per cent.
      Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla were the only two sides to see their revenue increase.

      The Germans’ went up 0.6 per cent while the LaLiga outfit’s rose by 6.3 per cent.
      PSG (15 per cent), Barcelona (15.7 per cent) and Juventus (13.4 per cent) all saw similar drops in their operating revenues – but the Nou Camp giants still took in more revenue than any other club with £630m.
      Six teams registered net profits last season – Ajax, PSV Eindhoven, Real Madrid, Benfica as well as the two European champions Bayern Munich and Sevilla.
      Out of those, Benfica’s was the biggest with a £37m gain.
      At the other end of the spectrum, Roma and AC Milan had the biggest net losses with £181m and £173m respectively.

      Falchi will be cheering on her beloved Lazio – who are slumped at eighth in the league table.
      The model has promised to take her kit off if they win – but plans to keep her face mask on.
      As cited by Corriere dello Sport, she said: “What am I willing to do if Lazio win the derby?
      “I’m ready to dress only with a mask and in the event that the social networks were to ban the image, I will wear a mask.

      “Let’s hope Lazio manage to win, it won’t be easy ”.
      Falchi called for Lazio’s players to show ‘anger’ on the pitch when they face Roma.
      She continued: “We start on equal terms, we will miss [Joaquin] Correa, but Felipe Caicedo convinces me a lot.
      “We are lagging behind in the standings, we want the third consecutive victory.

      As things stand, Roma are six points clear of Lazio in Serie A after 17 matches.
      But Falchi is hopeful that her team can close the gap with their third win on the bounce.
      Falchi has appeared in several films including the 1994 fantasy movie The Dragon Ring.
      She was born in Tampere in Finland but moved to Italy with her family at the age of six.
      The football fanatic has racked up over 450,000 followers on her Instagram page.
      And that number could rocket if Lazio manage to secure three points on Friday.

      The former Real Madrid man has matched Welshman John Charles’ barnstorming start to the 1957-58 season.
      Charles – who died aged 72 in 2004 – was nicknamed ‘The Gentle Giant’ and scored 108 goals in 155 games in the famous black and white shirt during a five-year spell between 1957 and 1962.
      Incredibly, Ronaldo has achieved the feat despite only playing in 13 of the Bianconeri’s games.
      The five-time Ballon d’Or winner missed two matches after contracting coronavirus.

      Ronaldo was also rested for the 1-1 draw away at Benevento in November.
      But the Portuguese icon nearly missed out on equalling Charles’ feat.
      Italian Golden Boot frontrunner Ronaldo’s crucial strike came in the second minute of stoppage time of the 3-1 win against Sassuolo at the Allianz Stadium.
      Former Arsenal star Aaron Ramsey also found the net as he continues his resurgence in Andrea Pirlo’s side.

      Napoli are keen to offload the 26-year-old this month with his contract set to expire in the summer.
      The Poland international is yet to feature for the Italian outfit this term having been omitted from Gennaro Gattuso’s Serie A and Europa League squads.
      But Napoli are holding firm in their valuation of the ex-Ajax ace as they seek a fee in the region of £8million.
      Italian journalist Ciro Venerato has stated Milik could end up at the London Stadium, but only if they improve their bid.

      Quoted by Spazio Napoli, he said: “Milik can go to Marseille, the French side are a club where the Pole can land.
      “Napoli continue to ask for more than €9m (£8m) and there’s also a problem with the percentage of resale.
      “There’s also a chance he’ll go to West Ham, a chance offered by the agent.”
      Milik’s agent Fabrizio De Vecchi recently declared that the forward has proposals from clubs in England, Spain and France.
