Cristiano Ronaldo expresses himself more than Messi and gets on with everyone, says Juventus star Arthur in GOAT U-turn

CRISTIANO RONALDO expresses himself more than Lionel Messi and gets on with team-mates better, claims Arthur Melo.
The midfielder spent two years alongside Barcelona legend Messi, and claimed he was the ‘greatest player in history’.

But now playing alongside Ronaldo at Juventus, Arthur opened up on how the Portugal icon differs on a personal level to his great rival.
He told Desimpedidos: “Cristiano Ronaldo expresses himself more than Messi and he gets on with everyone in the dressing room.
“He’s very active in the dressing room. He talks to everyone and has a good relationship with everyone.
“Maybe the fact we speak the same language makes it easier.

“Each person has their own way of demonstrating leadership. Messi does it with actions, as much as it seems he doesn’t.
“He demonstrates it when he receives the ball, with his will to win the game and all his team-mates notice this.”
The debate has long raged over who is the Greatest of All Time between Messi, 33, and Ronaldo, 35.
And despite initially picking Messi as football’s best ever, 24-year-old Arthur looks to have made a U-turn when asked which superstar he prefers.

Messi and Ronaldo’s fight to be crowned the GOAT continues to rage on

He said: “I’d go with Cristiano, we’re playing together!
“I’m not that close to Cristiano that I go round his house for coffee, but we have a good relationship.
“Cristiano never backs down if there’s a team-mate in need of something and he always gets to it with a fierce determination.
“He trains like an animal, he doesn’t know when to rest and he encourages you to give your all.
“He always tells me what to eat, not leaving anything to chance.”

Inter Milan 2 Juventus 0: Arturo Vidal ‘kisses Juve badge’ before scoring for Inter in Derby d’Italia win

JUVENTUS’ hopes of a tenth consecutive Scudetto took a huge hit as they lost 2-0 to rivals Inter Milan on Sunday.
Former Bianconeri boss Antonio Conte, who started Juventus’ revival a decade ago with three title wins, taught his old side a lesson to leave them seven points off the summit while putting Inter level with leaders AC Milan.

Ex-Juventus icon Arturo Vidal, a key man in Conte’s Turin side, opened the scoring at the San Siro in the 12th minute with a powerful header.
It was an especially controversial moment as the Chilean, signed from Barcelona last summer, was filmed KISSING the Juventus badge while chatting with former team-mate Giorgio Chiellini before kick-off.
Despite losing out in possession, Inter had plenty of more attempts on goal than their fierce rivals as Romelu Lukaku outshone Cristiano Ronaldo.
And Inter gave themselves a commanding advantage in the 52nd minute when Nicolo Barella hit the target for 2-0.

Juventus, who also gave starts to ex-Premier League players including Aaron Ramsey, Alvaro Morata and Danilo, looked short on ideas as they searched in vain for a consolation goal.
And after coming up short, the pressure is mounting on new gaffer Andrea Pirlo – another key player from Conte’s famous Juve side.
He was brought in to replace Maurizio Sarri, who was cruelly axed in August despite guiding Juventus to a ninth consecutive title.
However, inexperienced Pirlo is now in danger of missing out completely on a trophy that has become synonymous with the Old Lady in recent memory.

As for Inter, they now have a chance to correct last season’s poor run-in which allowed Sarri’s Juve to capture the title late on.
Conte’s men are level on points with city rivals AC, who still have a game in hand.
The Rossoneri have the chance to go three points clear of Inter on Monday when they visit struggling relegation candidates Cagliari.
Milan have been inspired to the top by 39-year-old veteran Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who led them to their last title in 2010.
And the Swede is now set to be joined in attack by 34-year-old ex-Juve man Mario Mandzukic, who has agreed a free transfer until the end of the season.

Ex-Man Utd transfer target Mario Mandzukic set for AC Milan medical after leaving Qatari side Al-Duhail

MARIO MANDZUKIC is expected to undergo a medical at AC Milan on Monday.
The Croatian striker has been a free agent since leaving Qatari side Al-Duhail in July.

Mandzukic, 34, will put pen to paper on an initial six-month contract at the San Siro, with the option of a further year.
Milan manager Stefano Pioli has been keen to add to his attacking options this month, after injury saw Zlatan Ibrahimovic miss eight league matches between November and January.
The Rossoneri sit three points clear at the top of Serie A after 17 games.
FANCY A PUNT? TODAY’S BEST ODDS BOOSTS FROM THE UK’S LEADING BOOKIES

Mandzukic last played in Europe for Milan’s Serie A rivals Juventus, scoring 44 goals in 162 appearances for the Old Lady before leaving the club acrimoniously in December 2019.
The former Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid man has been linked with a move to Manchester United in the past.
And he was linked with a return to Spain with Celta Vigo in November but a deal failed to materialise.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports the veteran frontman also rejected offers from Turkey before agreeing to join AC Milan.

Milan have already been busy in the January transfer window.

Last week, they completed the loan signing of Torino midfielder Soualiho Meite, while Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori is also expected to join on loan in the next few days.
The deal to take Tomori to Milan will reportedly also include a £27m option for the Rossoneri to buy the 23-year-old outright.
The Calgary-born defender has fallen down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge this season, mustering only four appearances in all competitions as Thiago Silva and Kurt Zouma have been preferred by Frank Lampard at the heart of Chelsea’s defence.

Man City plot shock transfer swoop for ex-Man Utd striker Romelu Lukaku as Pep Guardiola ‘lines up £200m overhaul’

MANCHESTER CITY are reportedly plotting a shock transfer swoop for ex-United striker Romelu Lukaku as Pep Guardiola eyes a ‘£200m squad overhaul’.
Sergio Aguero’s contract expires at the end of this season while Gabriel Jesus has scored just once in his last ten appearances.

And according to The Telegraph, City want Lukaku as a long-term successor to record-goalscorer Aguero, who has struggled for injuries in recent months.
It is a deal that would send shock waves through Manchester.
The Belgian star, 27, is enjoying life at Inter Milan since his £73m transfer from Old Trafford in 2019.
He has scored an impressive 51 goals in just 73 appearances under Antonio Conte, leading Inter to the Europa League final last term and in Serie A contention this time around.

And his Premier League experience could be crucial when City do look to bring in a replacement for Aguero.
Lukaku – who has played for Chelsea, West Brom, Everton and Manchester United in England’s top flight – boasts a record of 113 goals in 252 games.
The report also adds Erling Haaland is on the shortlist – although Barcelona, Real Madrid and neighbours United are keen.
The Borussia Dortmund sensation, 20, burst on to the scene last season and has continued his red-hot form this term with 19 in 17 across all competitions.

Benfica’s 21-year-old striker Darwin Nunez may also be considered.
City spent £130m on Nathan Ake, Ruben Dias and Ferran Torres last summer to bolster the defence and replace Leroy Sane.
But they are likely to go in for a holding midfielder as Fernandinho looks on course to depart while they also look set to dip into the transfer market for a left-back.

Tottenham ‘interested in taking Christian Eriksen back on loan’ with Dane desperate to leave Inter after failed transfer

TOTTENHAM are ‘interested’ in taking Christian Eriksen back on loan, according to reports.
The Danish playmaker, 28, left North London a year ago to join Inter Milan.

But the £16.9million transfer has flopped miserably over the last 12 months under Antonio Conte.
And Eriksen is thought to want out already with Inter open to loaning him to put him in the shop window for a summer sale.
According to Sky Sports, he is hopeful of a return to Spurs although no formal talks have taken place yet.
However, Inter’s loan-fee demands could put off Daniel Levy, who is shelling out big money for Gareth Bale’s romantic return on loan from Real Madrid.

New PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino may try and reunite with the 103-cap Denmark international while Arsenal, Manchester United, Wolves and Ajax have all been linked.
Eriksen spent six-and-a-half years with Tottenham but left when Jose Mourinho came in.
He made 305 appearances for the club, scoring 69 goals.
But since his switch to Italy, his stats make for pretty grim reading with just four in 40 matches – and not a goal or assist in his 14 this term.

The report adds Conte told Eriksen in private to show character as he has the quality to be Inter’s No1 playmaker.
Speaking about Eriksen’s situation last year, Inter Milan chief executive Giuseppe Marotta said: “Conte has already spoken about it thoroughly. I can just add that we do not certainly have to force a player to stay when he asks to leave.
“We will have to evaluate the situation. Now he is available for Conte, who has been making him play in [Eriksen’s] respect and in the club’s respect.
“Up to now, we have not received any request from Eriksen, but at the right time we will try to find the right combinations.”

Cristiano Ronaldo is ‘in decline’ and Romelu Lukaku is ‘indisputably’ better, claims Juventus legend Roberto Boninsegna

ROMELU LUKAKU is ‘indisputably’ better than Cristiano Ronaldo.
That’s according to Italy icon Roberto Boninsegna, who has stoked the flames ahead of Inter Milan’s crunch clash with Juventus on Sunday.

Inter are just three points behind Serie A leaders AC Milan, with Juventus seven off the pace with a game spare.
Antonio Conte will be hoping to get one over former player Andrea Pirlo when the two sides collide at the San Siro on Sunday.
And the game could be decided by either side’s leading striker.
Inter star Lukaku, 27, has 12 goals in 16 league games this term and fired home 23 strikes last season.

Meanwhile, legendary hitman Ronaldo has 15 goals in just 13 Serie A matches for Juventus, and 19 in 18 games across all competitions.
But Boninsegna reckons Lukaku is the more decisive player.
And he adds that while the Belgian is only getting better, veteran Ronaldo is heading in just one direction.
Boninsegna, 77, scored 113 goals in 197 league games for Inter and also netted 22 times in 58 appearances for Juventus.

He won one Serie A with Inter in 1971 before scooping two with Juventus in 1977 and 1978.
The 22-time Italy international told Tutto Juve: “The only Inter player who made things difficult for the Fiorentina defence was Lukaku, who had just returned.
“[They are a] Beautiful duo, Lukaku and Cristiano Ronaldo. I think Lukaku is a more decisive player, it’s indisuputable.
“Cristiano Ronaldo was a great player but I think he’s declining a little bit.
“How will the derby finish? My heart hopes that Inter win.
“When I played for Inter at San Siro against Juventus there were always lots of Juve fans who came from Brianza to watch the match and it felt like an away game.”

Cristiano Ronaldo earns more money than FOUR Serie A teams as Juventus squad’s wages are revealed

CRISTIANO RONALDO’S £28million-a-year wages at Juventus is reportedly equal to or more than the squad bill at FOUR Serie A teams.
The 35-year-old is understood to be on around £540,000-a-week in Turin after he joined from Real Madrid in 2018.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner earns four times more than the next player in the division.
His Juve team-mate Matthijs de Ligt, 21, is said to be on a £7.2m-a-year salary, where he pockets £138k-a-week.
Paulo Dybala is the third highest-paid player at Juventus due to his £6.6m salary, followed by Adrien Rabiot and Aaron Ramsey, who both earn £6.3m.
But a more incredible stat is the fact that Serie A clubs Udinese, Hellas Verona, Spezia and Crotone have the same or a lower squad bill than what Ronaldo earns yearly.

It should come as no surprise that the Old Lady boast the highest wage bill in the Italian top-flight, with their expenditure coming it at £214m.
Inter Milan boast the second highest wage bill in Italy at £135m-a-year, followed by Roma (£101m) Napoli (£95m) and AC Milan (£81m).
The Nerazzurri have the highest-paid manager in the division, with Antonio Conte raking in £10.8m a year, with Roma’s Paulo Fonseca (£2.2m) and Atalanta’s Gian Piero Gasperini (£1.9m) rounding off the top three.

    Cristiano Ronaldo: £28million p/a
    Matthijs de Ligt: £7.2m
    Romelu Lukaku: £6.8m
    Christian Eriksen: £6.8m
    Edin Dzeko: £6.8m
    Paulo Dybala: £6.6m
    Adrien Rabiot: £6.3m
    Aaron Ramsey: £6.3m
    Alexis Sanchez: £6.3m
    Zlatan Ibrahimovic: £6.3m

Juve boss Andrea Pirlo is on just £1.6m-a-year, which is less than what AC Milan’s Stefano Pioli, Bologna’s Sinisa Mihajlovic and Lazio’s Simone Inzaghi all earn (£1.8m).
Three of Inter’s players feature in the top ten highest-paid players list, with Romelu Lukaku and Christian Eriksen both earning £6.8m-a-year – the same figure as Roma’s Edin Dzeko.
Alexis Sanchez earns £6.3m-a-year at the San Siro, as does Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
