And after initially impressing at Napoli, and agreement to sign him permanently at the end of the season looked likely.
But after a dip in performances, the Italians are now not willing to meet Chelsea’s £15m fee, and will negotiate, according to CalcioNapoli24.
It is understood Bakayoko wants to stay with Napoli and manager Gennaro Gattuso.
The Frenchman, 26, played at AC Milan under Gattuso, his first loan away from Chelsea.
The following season, he was shipped out to Monaco – the side he left the Blues for in 2017 – for a year.
Bakayoko appears ready to leave Chelsea for good and has put all his efforts into helping Napoli qualify for next season’s Champions League.
His brother and agent Abdoulaye told Si gonfia la rete: “He is focused on finishing the season.
“The goal is obviously the Champions League, he is recharging the batteries for these remaining matches.

“Not an easy moment? I think this drop in form was common to the whole team.

In order to revitalise their fortunes, Juve want to turn to an old face.
Manchester United star Pogba, 28, made his name in Turin between 2012 and 2016, before returning to Old Trafford for £89million.
But, set to have just a year remaining on his Red Devils deal, the Frenchman may be up for grabs come the end of the season.
And according to Calciomercato, Juventus are willing to ship out two regulars in order to fund the switch.
Ramsey, and Pogba’s international team-mate Rabiot, are both claimed to earn around £120,000-a-week at Allianz Stadium, altough Ramsey also pocketed a substantial signing on fee when he joined for free from Arsenal.
But in order to afford Pogba, partly given the enormous salary paid to Cristiano Ronaldo, the duo will have to be moved on.
Remarkably, West Ham are currently favourites to land Welshman Ramsey’s signature, while Everton and Liverpool have also been linked with the 30-year-old.
The Toffees are also rumoured to be fans of Rabiot, who manager Carlo Ancelotti handed a senior pro debut to while at Paris Saint-Germain.

Manchester City are also in the race to sign the 25-year-old.
Rabiot would pull no punches should he go to City, however, if his recent outburst while on international duty is anything to go by.
The midfielder, who refused to be on the standby list after missing out on Didier Deschamps’ World Cup squad in 2018, questioned the commitment of his team as France drew 1-1 with Ukraine.
He huffed: “We knew what to expect against Ukraine. They were here for the counter attacks. All the teams in our group are going to play like this. We have to adapt.
“If it did not work it is because we didn’t give everything on the pitch.
“We should have put more intensity. With the players we have we must be able to play in any system. It’s a question of method and of willpower.”

And on Tuesday, Totti was officially registered as an agent as he looks to prolong his relationship with the beautiful game.
The one-club man, who led Roma to the Serie A title in 2001, had previously been serving as a club director in the Italian capital.
However, Totti furiously resigned in 2019 after accusing chairman James Pallotta of keeping him away from Roma’s decision-making process.
And Totti will now be hoping for better fortunes as a sports agent, having been a living legend throughout his playing career.
The former striker made his Roma debut in the 1992/93 campaign at the age of 16 and quickly became a mainstay in the side.
Totti’s 25-season run saw him score 307 goals in 786 appearances for the Giallorossi.
And he led them to Serie A title glory in 2001, while also scooping two Coppa Italias and two Supercoppa Italias.
Totti’s greatest moment as a player arguably came when his Italy side won the 2006 World Cup in Germany, beating France on penalties in the famous final where Zinedine Zidane was sent off for head-butting Marco Materazzi.

The tournament turned out to be the last time Totti turned out for Italy.
And he retired a year later having scored nine times in 58 appearances.
Totti also won numerous personal accolades throughout his career, including two Serie A Footballer of the Year awards and the 2007 European Golden Shoe.

With Inter looking to secure their first Serie A title in a decade, the decision was made to allow the veterans to remain in Milan and get their fitness levels up for the final part of the season.
Neither man certainly seemed to be suffering from the intense workout, with both flashing wide grins while Sanchez, 32, gave a thumbs up to the camera.
Vidal, 33, captioned the picture on Instagram: “Preparing for what is coming stronger and stronger with my bro.”
And it drew a reaction from fans, with one writing: “Perfection in one photo.”
    Another said: “Chilean football machines.”
And a final one added: “When you win the Scudetto, please take Sanchez to the tattoo studio.”
Despite their absence for their country this week, Vidal and Sanchez will be sure to return to action with Chile for June’s World Cup qualifier with Argentina.
Vidal has amassed an incredible 119 caps for his country.

And Sanchez has even more with 136 appearances – making him Chile’s all-time leading man.
The Copa America winners are close buddies, having first played together at Chilean side Colo-Colo between 2006 and 2007.
They both went their separate ways after, with Vidal turning out for Bayer Leverkusen, Juventus, Bayern Munich and Barcelona.
Meanwhile, Sanchez’s career saw him take in spells at River Plate, Udinese, Barcelona, Arsenal and Manchester United.
But they were reunited at club level when Vidal joined Inter last summer thanks to efforts from his former Juve boss, Antonio Conte.
And both men have been in superb form, with Vidal making 23 league appearances and Sanchez playing 20 times.
Inter are six points clear of nearest challengers AC Milan at the top of Serie A.
And they can extend that lead to nine as they still have a game in hand to play.

Silverware could still be won this season with Juve in the Coppa Italia final, but it has been claimed that Pirlo may not even last the season.
It has been speculated that the 2006 World Cup winner has just one game to save his job, as failure to beat rivals Torino next week could see him be axed.
And according to AS, Juventus have made Zidane their No1 target to replace Pirlo with the Frenchman’s own future in Spain in doubt.
Zidane enjoyed five successful years with the Italian giants between 1996-2001 where he helped the club win the Serie A title twice.
There has even been reports that Juventus have already contacted Zidane about taking charge.
Spanish news outlet AS added that Zizou is also being monitored by France as a possible successor for Didier Deschamps.
Zidane, 48, has one year left on his deal at the Bernabeu, and he failed to rule out leaving in a recent press conference.
Discussing his future at Real, he said: “I don’t look any further than the day to day. I don’t plan anything.”

Despite rumours Pirlo could be on his way out of Juventus, club vice-president Pavel Nedved declared the manager is going nowhere any time soon.
He told DAZN: “Pirlo is and will be the coach of Juventus, that’s 100 per cent certain.
“We committed to a project with Andrea, knowing that there would be difficulties. We wanted to do better than this and haven’t managed to, but difficulties were predicted.
“We are very calm. We’re on the path that we wanted, which we will stay on. He has everything to become a great coach.”

Cristiano Ronaldo to hold showdown transfer talks with Juventus at end of season as chief Nedved insists he WILL stay

A 1-0 defeat to Benevento before the international break left the team ten points off leaders Inter Milan despite Ronaldo hitting 23 goals in 24 league matches this campaign.
But reports of a potential exit, including to old club Real Madrid, refuse to go away.
It had been suggested that financial problems at Allianz Stadium could lead to the Italians accepting a bid as low as £21.5million for the star.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, neither Juve nor Ronaldo are planning on a summer transfer at this time.
In May, the two parties plan to sit down and discuss the path ahead with the 36-year-old out of contract in 2022.
Juventus vice-chairman Pavel Nedved has also insisted that he will not sell his star attacker in the summer.

The former midfielder told DAZN: “For me, Ronaldo can’t be touched.
“He has a contract until June 30, 2022 and will stay. What happens after that remains to be seen.
“Cristiano, both technically and in terms of image, pushed us towards the peak of football.
“On a technical level, you can’t fault him. He’s scored more than 100 goals in 120 games and he dragged us into the Champions League.

“We can criticise him – we all have to be open to criticism when we make a mistake – but to question his numbers and what he gives us in every game, for me, isn’t fair.”
Questions have also arisen over the future of coach Andrea Pirlo and out-of-form attacker Paulo Dybala.
Nedved has moved to assure fans that club legend Pirlo will be given another chance next season while, on Dybala, he admitted the Bianconeri will ‘evaluate every opportunity’ when the transfer window opens.
