Christian Eriksen shocked by Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan exit and fuels transfer talk by saying future out of his hands

CHRISTIAN ERIKSEN was left shocked when Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte decided to quit just weeks after leading the club to their first Serie A title since 2010.The Italian giants ended Juventus’ nine-year stronghold on the top flight by coasting to a superb title triumph ahead of local rivals AC Milan.

But Conte, who only joined the club in 2019, decided to leave just days after the end of the season following a row with the Chinese owners.
And Eriksen, who began to thrive under the Italian in the final few months of the campaign, admits the news came as a surprise.
Speaking Corriere dello Sport, he said: “We knew that the coach would talk to the club, it also happened at the end of last season, but honestly what happened was a sporting shock.”
The 29-year-old Dane struggled for minutes in the first half of the 2020-21 season as he remained out of favour with Conte.
But an impressive finish to the title-winning campaign saw Eriksen feature much more and he netted three times in their final eight Serie A matches.
“Antonio and I have always been good friends, he simply saw football in one way and I in another,” he added.
However, despite an upturn in form, Eriksen has still only managed eight goals in 60 games for Inter.
And while the ex-Tottenham man does have a contract with the club until 2024, he refuses to rule out a move this summer.

When asked about his future, he said: “Personally there was nothing to discuss. It was about winning and that’s what we did. And after all, I can thank him for winning a trophy.”
“Unfortunately I don’t know what will happen and at the moment I’m not focused on this, but on the European Championship.
“It will also depend on the new coach and on Inter’s strategies. On a technical level, of course, I’d like to play more advanced rather than stay ahead of the defence.”
Back in January, Eriksen was linked with a sensational return to Tottenham on a loan deal in much the same way Gareth Bale did last summer.

Juventus ‘to extend Alvaro Morata’s loan transfer for another season and will pay Atletico Madrid further £8.5m’

ALVARO MORATA will extend his loan stay at Juventus, according to reports. The ex-Chelsea forward, 28, will stay in Turin for a second season on loan from Atletico Madrid.
Alvaro Morata will stay at Juventus for another year, reports sayCredit: Reuters
Spanish striker Morata arrived in Italy last summer on a one-year loan deal.
Juventus had three options this summer – to let Morata go, extend the loan deal by a year, or sign him permanently.
And Goal report that the Old Lady will keep him on for another year and pay £8.5m to the Spanish champions.
He scored 20 goals in 44 games for Juventus in what was a disappointing season for the team.
Manager Andrea Pirlo was sacked as they let go of their Serie A crown and just about sneaked into the top four.
Ex-boss Max Allegri returned as manager last week and he’s worked with Morata before in Turin.
The forward won back to back Serie A titles under Allegri in 2015 and 2016 before going back to Real Madrid.
He then moved to Chelsea in 2017 but failed to live up to his £70m price tag and left for Atletico Madrid after 18 months.

The 28-year-old has 38 Spanish caps and 19 goals for his country.
Earlier this year he was diagnosed with a lifelong virus after feeling faint and needing a lie down following a Champions League game.
Former Juve manager Pirlo revealed the striker complained of feeling ill after the 2-1 loss to Porto in February.
Morata was diagnosed with Cytomegalovirus (CMV), which stays in the body for the duration of your life.

However, it is common and usually harmless and can cause flu-like symptoms – similar to those the Spaniard was exhibiting.
CMV is related to the herpes virus that causes cold sores and chickenpox but many people will carry it without realising.
It is transmitted via close contact but can only be passed on when it is ‘active’ – usually when you first contract the virus.

But after scoring ten goals in 16 games whilst on loan in the south of France, he is back on some top European club’s radar.
According to Tuttosport (via Sport Witness), Tottenham are reigniting their interest in Milik should star man Harry Kane leave this summer.
Chairman Daniel Levy will have a tough job on his hands trying to keep Kane, who is attracting interest from both Manchester clubs.
Manchester City will be desperate to sign a striker this summer, especially after their Champions League final defeat to Chelsea which saw them line up without a recognised striker.
But over in Turin, megastar Cristiano Ronaldo’s future is up in the air after the club’s poor campaign which saw then scrape 4th place.
Should Ronaldo leave, the returning Massimiliano Allegri will need a new man to start up top – and Milik in on Juventus’ radar.
It is also unclear whether Alvaro Morata’s loan spell from Atletico Madrid will be renewed.
The 28-year-old had a solid campaign in front of goal, scoring 11 times whilst chipping in with 10 assists.

They ultimately came up short in the title race, finishing behind rivals Inter Milan.
Dalot also got the chance to face his parent club in the Europa League, but United narrowly won the tie.
The versatile right-back, who can also play at left-back, is uncertain where he will be playing his football next season – but hasn’t ruled out a return to Italy.
Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Dalot said: “I like to become more and more complete.
“The Italians love football, they always talk about it and being part of this culture has been a fantastic experience. And on the pitch, I feel I have improved a lot tactically.
“There are some defensive aspects I learned here and it was fantastic to develop these qualities too.
“That’s not the only thing either, as I improved in pressing high and recovering the ball as soon as possible.
“Very useful stuff. I say that I had a fantastic year and met beautiful people.

Georgina, set to star in her own docu-reality show on Netflix, made her comments as she was filmed walking in the street in her homeland.
She was asked in Spanish: “Is Cristiano staying at Juventus or not?”
After a moment’s silence she turned to the camera filming her and replied: “He’s staying.”
Her comments about her partner appear to rule out a return to Manchester United for the Portuguese striker.
Reports earlier this week claimed the Red Devils were interested in swapping Paul Pogba with the Juve star, who has linked up with the Portugal national team for the Euros.
Cristiano’s agent was also reported to have offered him to Paris Saint-Germain after his final-day snub.
Rodriguez, who has a three-year-old daughter called Alana Martina with her partner and plays mum to his other three children, has been spotted in her native city of Jaca.
The 27-year-old is believed to have reached the northern Spanish city by private jet before being driven around in a white Rolls Royce.

And now the 35-year-old has won the title with Inter, he is in talks for a second spell at Vicarage Road with the newly-promoted Premier League outfit.
Young came through the youth set-up at Watford before making his first team debut in 2003.
He went on to play 110 times for the Hornets and was a part of Aidy Boothroyd’s 2005-06 Championship side which gained promotion to the Premier League.
Watford were relegated in their first campaign back in the top flight under Boothroyd, a demotion that led to Young’s departure.
He joined Aston Villa for five seasons and then moved on to Manchester United where he would remain for nine years.
Young has only spent two years at Inter but according to Sky Sports is currently discussing personal terms with Watford as he seeks to agree a one-year deal.
Watford secured their Premier League return at the first time of asking after clinching automatic promotion from the Championship.
Xisco Muñoz’s side finished the campaign in second place, six points behind champions Norwich.

Matthijs De Ligt refusing to have coronavirus vaccine as Juventus star claims ‘you should be in charge of your own body’

JUVENTUS star Matthijs De Ligt revealed he has chosen not to take the coronavirus vaccine as ‘it is not mandatory’ and ‘you should be in charge of your own body’.The 21-year-old experienced coronavirus first hand when he contracted the virus back in January – missing two Serie A games as a result.
De Ligt has stated that he won’t be taking the vaccine, and believes it should be people’s choice whether to take it or notCredit: GETTY IMAGES
De Ligt has now linked up with the Netherlands national team for this summer’s Euros after a disappointing Juventus campaign saw them scrape fourth place.
In an interview with ESPN.nl, De Ligt confirmed he has opted against getting the vaccine but insisted people should have the right to choose whether to take it or not.
He said: “I have not taken a vaccination, it is not mandatory.
“I think you should be in charge of your own body. The risk of infection is always there.
“I try to come into contact with as few people as possible outside the Dutch national team.”
De Ligt isn’t the only Dutch footballing star not to accept the vaccine – manager Frank de Boer confirmed that six others have opted not to get vaccinated.
Speaking in his press conference on Wednesday, he said: “We have always said at KNVB [Dutch FA] that the people who need the vaccine the most, should get it first.
“That happened and now we think it could be a choice to vaccinate ourselves. In recent days, this was possible on a voluntary basis.
Dutch boss Frank De Boer confirmed six other Dutch players opted against the jabCredit: GETTY IMAGES

“I think about six players didn’t do it. That’s not a problem either, because you have to know for yourself if you have a shot.
“I said I would, but in the end it’s the person’s choice and we have to respect that.”
There have been 1.48billion coronavirus vaccine doses administered worldwide.
In the UK alone, the successful vaccine rollout has seen 38.8million Brits receive the first dose and 24.4m have both – thanks in large to The Sun’s Jabs Army.
Major football figures are encouraging the public to get the vaccine to protect lives and get people’s lives back to normal.
Former manager and player Harry Redknapp, who is fully vaccinated, had a pleasant experience.
He said: “I’ve now had both my vaccines – they were so simple and I didn’t even feel them. It’s no pain but plenty to gain.
“The NHS has done a fantastic job of rolling out the vaccine and it’s amazing that we’re starting to see the results.

Health and Social Care Secretary Matt Hancock expressed his gratitude to the footballing figuresCredit: GETTY IMAGES
“I’d encourage everyone to take up the offer of the vaccine when they are called. [Harry] Maguire’s defence might be pretty good, but the jab is better.”
Redknapp was joined by Chris Kamara, Eniola Aluko, Chris Hughton, Carlton Cole and Jules Breach earlier this month in a short film encouraging people to get vaccinated.
Health Secretary Matt Hancock said he is ‘hugely grateful’ to the footballing figures for getting involved in the campaign.
He said: “Our Covid-19 vaccination programme is a testament to the country’s remarkable NHS and life sciences industry, both of which have played an integral role in getting the vaccines from lab to jab.
“I am hugely grateful to Harry Redknapp, Chris Kamara, Eniola Aluko, Chris Hughton, Carlton Cole and Jules Breach for lending their support to help get the UK vaccinated.
“When offered, it’s vital people book in their jab – they truly are our greatest defence against Covid-19 and will help us get even more fans back watching the sports they love.”

Cristiano Ronaldo ‘could seal incredible Man Utd transfer return in shock swap-deal with Juventus including Paul Pogba’

MANCHESTER UNITED are interested in swapping Paul Pogba with Juventus star Cristiano Ronaldo, according to reports. The rumoured deal between the Premier League giants and the Italian side could see the Portugal captain return to Old Trafford after 12 years.

Paul Pogba, 28, won four Serie A titles at Juventus between 2012 and 2016Credit: AFP or licensors
According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, both clubs are interested in re-signing their former stars.
United are believed to want some cash for Pogba, however, and Ronaldo’s big wage demands could be a stumbling block.
Ronaldo, 36, won three Premier League titles, two League Cups, the Champions League and the FA Cup during his six-year spell at United.
World Cup winner Pogba, 28, enjoyed success at Juventus between 2012 and 2016, four Serie A titles and two Italian Cups.
Both players have struggled at their current clubs, with Ronaldo failing to win Serie A this season and Pogba not lifting domestic silverware since 2017.
The reported deal could depend on returning Juve manager Massimiliano Allegri, who is rumoured to be willing to let the Portuguese star go.
Reports suggest the Italian coach asked Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli to get rid of Ronaldo around the time he was sacked in 2019.
And Allegri may want to bring Pogba back to Turin, with plenty of reports linking the French with a return.

Man Utd’s biggest transfers ever, both in and out, including Ronaldo

Pogba has one year left on his Old Trafford contract and it’s still unclear whether he will commit his future to the Red Devils.
Even if Ronaldo is allowed to leave Italy this summer, United may struggle to re-sign the player with Paris Saint-Germain believed to be interested.
The Ligue 1 side are said to be concerned about losing star striker Kylian Mbappe, whose current deal expires next summer.
PSG may decide to cash in on the 22-year-old this summer if he doesn’t renew his contract, leaving them in need of a new superstar.
