Juventus ‘dream’ to bring Paul Pogba back from Man Utd handed huge boost after Max Allegri’s return as boss

JUVENTUS’ ‘dream’ to bring back Paul Pogba could be boosted by Max Allegri’s return as manager, reports say.The 53-year-old returned on Friday after Andrea Pirlo was sacked by the Old Lady.

Pirlo paid the price after Juventus lost their Serie A crown to Inter Milan and just about scraped into the top four.
Fan-favourite Allegri won five straight league titles in Turin and took Juve to two Champions League finals.
Allegri managed Pogba before he left for Manchester United in 2016.
And the French midfielder has just a year remaining on his Old Trafford deal.
CalcioMercato in Italy report that Juventus have a number of transfer targets, but bringing Pogba back would be ‘the real dream’.
The report adds that Cristiano Ronaldo could go the other way and return to Old Trafford.
Other transfer targets listed in the report are Manuel Locatelli from Sassuolo, Udinese’s Rodrigo De Paul or Turkish star Hakan Calhanoglu.
Juve confirmed the return of Allegri on Friday with a cryptic tweet.

Juventus’ official Twitter account posted a picture depicting the outline of US state Minnesota.
In his younger days, Allegri is claimed to have been enjoying a day at the races when he backed a horse by the name of Minnesota.
A pal joked the horse had as much chance of winning as Allegri did of becoming a football manager.
Minnesota romped to victory and Allegri would go on to become one of the most sought-after bosses in football… after collecting his winnings, of course.
Allegri once revealed: “One time 40 years ago I wanted to bet on a horse named Minnesota.
“A friend of mine told me, ‘It’s easier for you to coach in Serie A than for that horse to win.’
“The horse won and I coach in Serie A.”

Just half an hour later, Juventus shared a blurry picture of a what appeared to be a jacket thrown on the floor.
Supporters were quick to suggest it was the coat Allegri threw to the floor in a passionate rage after Juve nearly conceded a last-gasp equaliser against Carpi in 2015.
Just 30 minutes later, Juventus put fans out of their misery by tweeting: “Welcome back home, Max.”

Why Max Allegri’s return to Juventus is bad news for Cristiano Ronaldo and puts his transfer future into further doubt

CRISTIANO RONALDO’S future at Juventus has been thrown into even more doubt amid the expected return of former manager Massimiliano Allegri.Andrea Pirlo was sacked on Friday after the club failed to win Serie A for the first time since 2011.

The Old Lady were also knocked out of the Champions League in embarrassing fashion as Porto beat them in the round of 16.
Meanwhile, Allegri is set for a triumphant return to Juventus two years after ending his five-year spell there.
And according to The Express, the Italian coach’s return could spell the end for Ronaldo at the club.
This is because Allegri reportedly asked Juventus chairman Andrea Agnelli to get rid of the Portuguese superstar around the time he was sacked.
The request came after Ronaldo had spent just one season playing for the then Italian champions, a campaign in which he netted 28 goals in 43 games.
Over the course of his three seasons in Italy, Ronaldo has not disappointed when it comes to his goalscoring form, netting 101 times in 133 appearances.
However, the ex-Real Madrid man was brought to the club to help them win the Champions League.
And since he arrived Juve have failed to make it past the last eight in Europe, compared with the two finals in three years which they reached before he joined.

Ronaldo and Messi are both named in the Ballon d’Or all-time best XI
It was revealed earlier this week that Ronaldo is expected to hold talks with Juve over his future.
The Portuguese legend, 36, only has a year remaining on his whopping £540,000-a-week deal.
He looked set to depart the club if they missed out on Champions League qualification but Juventus managed to scrape fourth-place in Serie A with a 4-1 win over Bologna.
A host of clubs have been linked with a move for Ronaldo, with both former sides Manchester United and Real Madrid keen on bringing him back.
Paris Saint-Germain are another side who would love to add him to their ranks while his first club, Sporting Lisbon, would be his mother’s ideal destination for her son.

However, the star forward hasn’t been able to avoid criticism throughout his glittering career as some have claimed he spends too much time worrying about how he looks.
Pantic is one of those critics as he believes the Portugal international represents a generation that’s much different to his glory days.
The former attacking midfielder suggested that players today spend more time on their looks rather than their game.
Pantic told La Resistencia: “I took off my shirt [after scoring in the 1996 Copa del Rey final] and I don’t know why, because I don’t have abs like Cristiano Ronaldo.
“In my day, players didn’t love the mirror so much. Now players love the mirror a lot.”

Ronaldo has cemented his legacy among football’s greats as he is the Champions League’s record scorer with 134 goals.
However, the United legend has struggled this season at Juventus and rumours suggest he could be on his way out of Turin.
Juve failed to defend their Serie A crown, finishing fourth in the process, and were eliminated from the Champions League in the Last 16.

The Bianconeri managed to save face by winning the Coppa Italia but the 36-year-old cast doubt on his future by claiming he has already achieved what he set out to do with the Italian giants.
Ronaldo posted on his Instagram: “The Italian Super Cup, the Italian Cup and the Serie A Top Scorer trophy fill me with happiness, mainly due to the difficulty they carry with them, in a country where nothing is easy to win.
“With these achievements, I reached a goal that I had set myself since the first day I arrived in Italy: to win the Championship, the Cup and the Super Cup, and also to be Best Player and Top Scorer in this great football country.”

Juventus to sack Andrea Pirlo as manager and reappoint Max Allegri as boss as furious fans protest after horror season

JUVENTUS are set to sack Andrea Pirlo as manager and reappoint Max Allegri after their horror season. Pirlo, who played for the Italian giants from 2011–2015, returned to the club as boss last summer in place of Maurizio Sarri.

But the former midfielder suffered a disastrous first season in full management as Juve failed to win Serie A for the first time in ten years.
And they only narrowly qualified for the Champions League on the final day of the season.
As a result, the board, according to Sky Sport Italia, have decided to fire Pirlo after only 12 months in charge.
And his replacement will be ex-boss Allegri, who has been out of management since 2019 when he left Turin.
He initially departed off the back of five straight league titles for a sabbatical, with Sarri taking over then winning Serie A.
Allegri was in talks to take over at Real Madrid, but ultimately snubbed the Spaniards in favour of a return to Juve.
It is believed he grew tired of waiting for Bernabeu bosses to confirm the departure of Zinedine Zidane.
In the end, Zizou did leave the club after failing to win LaLiga, bringing an end to his second reign in Madrid.

Allegri’s decision is said to have surprised Real bosses, who are now seeking alternatives to take over.
The Italian was also a target for Inter Milan, after Antonio Conte left the club despite guiding them to a first league title in 11 seasons.
Conte left the club after it was made clear over £80million would needed to be recouped in the upcoming transfer window amid financial losses during the coronavirus pandemic.
But Juve have won the race to acquire Allegri, who will now sign a three-year deal, with the option of a fourth, on a salary around £7.7m a year.
He comes back to the club in dire straits, as fans protested their awful season at the club’s training base.

Uefa began an investigation into Ibrahimovic’s relationship with a Maltese betting company last month.
They have found him guilty of participating ‘directly or indirectly in betting or similar activities relating to competition matches or who has a direct or indirect financial interest in such activities’.
Many feared a guilty verdict would come with a maximum three-year ban, virtually ending the 39-year-old’s illustrious career.
But he will now be available for Milan next season, who are back in the Champions League after finishing second in Serie A.
The Italian side have also been fined €25,000 – around £21,000 – by Uefa.
Despite evading suspension, Ibrahimovic will NOT represent Sweden at Euro 2020 after picking up an injury late in the season.

One player that won’t be at Milan next season is goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, who has reportedly left the club.

Antonio Conte sensationally quits Inter Milan days after lifting Serie A title after row with club’s Chinese owners

ANTONIO CONTE has quit Inter Milan – just days after leading them to the Serie A title. The former Chelsea boss had a huge row with the club’s president Steven Zhang over future plans and stepped down after two seasons.

A club statement read: “FC Internazionale Milano can confirm that an agreement has been reached with Antonio Conte for the termination of his contract by mutual consent.
“The club would like to thank Antonio for the extraordinary work that he has done, culminating in Inter’s 19th top-flight title.
“Antonio Conte will forever remain a part of our club’s history.”
Striker Romelu Lukaky hailed Conte in an emotional Instagram post.
The Belgian posted pictures of him with the popular boss with the caption: “2014 we spoke for the first time and we have had a bond ever since.
“We had many moments to work together but only god knows why it never happened earlier.
“You came at the right time and basically changed me as a player and made me even stronger mentally and more importantly we won together! Winning is and it’s all that matters to you and i’m glad that i have had you as a coach.
“I will keep your principles for the rest of my career ( physical preparation, mental and just the drive to win…) it was a pleasure to play for you!
“Thank you for all what you did. I owe you a lot..”
Cash-strapped Inter may have been forced to sell stars to raise more than £80million this summer and slash the wage bill by 20 per cent.
The club’s owners had already disbanded their Chinese team Jiangsu earlier this year and Inter are now also facing financial turmoil.
Even as Inter marched towards the title there was friction between Conte and the board over finances.
The 1996 Champions League winner was of the belief that Inter need to continue spending in order to carry on being successful.
And he wanted new deals for his key players in the run to the title – such as Romelu Lukaku.
But Conte, who had a year left on his deal, has quit the club just days after winning Serie A – the club’s first since 2010 – and will receive around £6m in compensation.
The ex-Chelsea gaffer had hinted earlier this month he is unsure of what the future holds.

He is claimed to have expressed bitterness towards Inter’s new direction in a meeting with the owners.
Simone Inzaghi and Max Allegri are among the leading candidates to take over from him at the San Siro.
Speaking after Sunday’s 5-1 victory against Udinese, Conte arrogantly dedicated Inter’s title win success to himself.
He said: “I dedicate it [the Scudetto] to myself. Because I know that in any case it has not been an easy path in these two years.
“I really had to get everything out of myself. There have also been times when I have doubted things and doubted myself.

“But we have been strong enough to go beyond everything. We have all been good, even me.
“I think it was the right end to an extraordinary year. Even today we played a beautiful game, we didn’t leave anything behind.
“We have collected 91 points, scored more than 90 goals. The best defence, the second-best attack, it means having done something beautiful and important.”

Unlike the Prem Big Six, the two Milan sides and Atletico Madrid, the three clubs have refused to pull the plug on their scheme.
That has infuriated Uefa President Aleksander Ceferin.
He is out for revenge and wants to impose two season bans.
And now that prospect had moved a step closer after Uefa announced its first move.
In a statement, Nyon officials said: “Following an investigation conducted by UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspectors in connection with the so-called ‘Super League’ project, disciplinary proceedings have been opened against Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona and Juventus FC for a potential violation of UEFA’s legal framework.
“Further information will be made available in due course.”
Uefa has put the screws on all three who now know they face serious sanctions unless they apologise and finally give up the ghost on their concept.

He looked set to depart the club if they missed out on Champions League qualification but Juventus managed to scrape fourth-place in Serie A with a 4-1 win over Bologna.
However, the forward was left on the bench for that crunch clash with boss Andrea Pirlo claiming that decision was down to ‘fatigue’.
It has been an unhappy time at Juve as they failed to win the title for the first time in nine years – which will lead to a huge overhaul of the squad this summer.
