Cristiano Ronaldo naps five times a day BEFORE bedtime and resys in foetal position, says superstar’s sleep guru

CRISTIANO RONALDO’S secret weapon is that he sleeps five times a day BEFORE bed and snoozes in the foetal position.Sleep guru Nick Littlehales has lifted the lid on the amazing routines behind the Portuguese superstar’s success.

Sleep guru Nick Littlehales has revealed all about the five-time Ballon d’Or winners sleep secretsCredit: Reuters
Littlehales landed one of his first gigs in football when he wrote to Sir Alex Ferguson and offered his services.
The Manchester United chief enlisted the help of the former bed company director to help with Gary Pallister’s back problem.
Twenty years on and Littlehales is now helping advise some of the biggest names in world sport.
Juventus ace Ronaldo used to need a decent rest after Fergie let United’s stars kick the forward to toughen him up.
And the 36-year-old proved a sponge for sleep advice when then Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti invited Littlehales to come and work with Los Blancos.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was told to take five 90-minute sleeps a day and sleep on fresh sheets in the foetal position.
During his Madrid days, he was the only player awarded access to their customised sleeping pod at their training centre, meaning that the forward napped alone.
Ronaldo also stops staring at screens an hour and a half before bed.
From what I have learned from working with him, Ronaldo is not interested in fad diets, he is not interested in copying othersNick Littlehales
Research shows the blue light emitted keeps your brain ticking during sleep by suppressing sleep hormone melatonin.
Speaking to the Independent, Littlehales said: “Anyone who has ever worked with Ronaldo knows that if you have a discussion in the corner of the room, he will come over and ask what you are talking about.
“I was invited to Real Madrid when Carlo Ancelotti became manager.
“I was standing on the edge of the training pitch, talking to the Madrid staff, when Ronaldo ran over.
“He had been training all day and you would have expected him to run straight to the dressing room for a shower but he asked what we were discussing.

“He was interested in what I was trying to do because as an athlete he has always invested in himself.
“From what I have learned from working with him, Ronaldo is not interested in fad diets, he is not interested in copying others.
“The only thing he is concerned with is: does it work for him?”
Former Chelsea ace Michael Essien once claimed he needed 14 hours of sleep a day to ensure he was at his powerful and energetic best in games.
And 15-time tennis Grand Slam winner Pete Sampras would insist on pristine new sheets every night and banned his wife from even touching him once he got into bed.
But Littlehales says the key to a good night is sleeping in a mattress with just TEN CENTIMETRES of foam.
Aside from his work with football and rugby league clubs, Littlehales has also advised golden British cycling couple Laura and Jason Kenny.

He added: “Why, when you go camping and start sleeping on a thinner mattress, do you wake up feeling fantastic?
“I’ve been working with Team Sky for a number of years and during every Tour de France, Giro d’Italia or Vuelta a Espana, we go ahead to the hotels making sure the cyclists sleep on exactly the same mattress every night.
“All you need is ten centimetres of foam.”

23 reasons we love Cristiano Ronaldo on his Man Utd return, from charity donations to no tattoos so he can give blood

CRISTIANO Ronaldo isn’t just loved by Manchester United fans. The Portuguese legend, 36, has sensationally rejoined the Red Devils and returned to the Premier League after leaving Juventus.

Man Utd confirmed Ronaldo’s capture on social media
His years of success, first at United, then Real Madrid and formerly at Juventus have made the Portuguese one of the most divisive athletes in the world.
Adored by fans for his ridiculous skill and achievement, Ronaldo also has an army of critics who hate his petulant behaviour and obsession with appearance and brand.
But while many deride Ronaldo for his antics on the pitch, few know of his charity work off of it.
Here’s why Ronaldo has one of the biggest hearts in all of sport.
    CORONAVIRUS PAYCUT
With an estimated wealth of around £400million, you could argue that it wouldn’t hurt Ronaldo to take a pay cut.
But not all footballers are in agreement with that idea.
However, Ronaldo led the way with a wage cut for March, April, May, and June last year while we waited to see what the initial outbreak of the coronavirus would do in the football world.
That’s said to have cost Ronaldo £3.8m personally.

    GENEROUS DONATION
According to various reports, Ronaldo teamed up with his agent Jorge Mendes last year to donate £1m to hospitals in Portugal to fight the coronavirus pandemic.
Hospitals in Porto and Lisbon were recipients of the generous donation – receiving beds and ventilators to cope with the high-number of patients suffering with Covid-19.
Daniel Ferro, president of Lisbon’s Santa Maria Hospital, revealed the selfless act.
“We were contacted by Jorge Mendes, who volunteered with Cristiano Ronaldo to finance two intensive care units for critical patients suffering from Covid-19,” Ferro said.
“There are fans, monitors, infusion pumps, beds … all the equipment that constitutes an intensive care unit equipped to provide care to a Covid-19 patient.”

    BONUS PAY
Ronaldo’s international team-mate Bernardo Silva let the cat out of the bag for this one.
According to the Manchester City star, CR7 asked the Portugal squad to donate 50 per cent of their qualification bonus for Euro 2020 to help combat the coronavirus pandemic.
“So we qualified to the 2020 Euros, which now is in 2021,” Silva said.
“And he gave us the idea let’s donate part of our bonus, so I think our national team, our players will donate 50 per cent of our qualifying bonus.”

    HIS EUROPEAN GOLDEN BOOT
In 2011, Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded the European Golden Boot after scoring 40 goals under Jose Mourinho, although Los Blancos could only finish second in La Liga and crashed out in the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Rather than keep the award in his already packed trophy room – Ronaldo opted to sell it for charity.
The boot went for auction and raised a stunning £1.2m.
The funds went towards building a number of schools in war-torn Gaza.

    THE BALLON D’OR
Ronaldo repeated the trick of selling off one of his trophies in 2017, this time his 2013 Ballon d’Or trophy at a charity auction in London.
The gala dinner, to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation – which grants wishes to children with life-threatening conditions – was a roaring success.
Ronaldo’s Ballon d’Or made a massive £530,000 for the organisation too.

    AN AMBASSADOR
Ronaldo continues to use his global platform as a force for good.
He is an ambassador for three major charities, Save the Children, Unicef and World Vision, and has spoken up for countless more.
At his 2014 Ballon d’Or speech, Ronaldo made a point of mentioning a group of children he had met with leukemia.
He has continued to speak out in those roles.

In 2016, he recorded a message to the children affected by the Syrian conflict, calling them “true heroes” and stating “I am with you”.
He also made a secret donation which he asked Save the Children not to reveal.
Ronaldo’s Ice Bucket Challenge video – the viral sensation that raised hundreds of millions of pounds in 2014 – was seen by more than a hundred million people across his social media platforms.WIN BONUSES
Ronaldo has also been very generous with giving up money earned from his exceptional performances on the pitch.
In 2013 he was named in the Uefa Team of the Year – earning a €100,000 (£89,000) bonus from the European governing body.
But rather than cash the cheque, he donated it to the Red Cross.
A year later the Portuguese star led Real Madrid to La Decima, their tenth Champions League victory, and picked up a £450,000 bonus from Los Blancos.
But Ronaldo again decided against cashing the money, instead sharing it among the three charities he is an ambassador for, Unicef, World Vision and Save the Children.

    GIVES BLOOD
The 36-year-old, compared to a growing number of his peers, is remarkably tattoo-free.
It’s all for a reason – Ronaldo regularly donates blood and has been involved in numerous campaigns to encourage others to do the same.
People with tattoos can donate blood, but are not able to do so immediately after getting new ink to reduce the risk of infection.
Ronaldo is a frequent giver of blood and has advocated for others to do the same
The Portuguese does not have any tattoos so he can donate blood more frequently
He said in 2015: “We can all make a difference by donating blood.
“Each donation can benefit up to three people in emergency situations and for long-term medical treatments… That’s why I am enthusiastic… to the importance of blood donation and to encourage people around the world to become lifelong blood donors and help save lives.”
Ronaldo also donates bone marrow after a former team-mate revealed his struggles.
Carlos Martins had a son who needed bone marrow and Ronaldo has been a donor since.
He said donating bone marrow is ‘something a lot of people think is a difficult thing to do but it’s nothing more than drawing blood and doesn’t hurt.’
    MULTI-MILLION POUND RELIEF
Ronaldo again donated a huge amount of money in 2015, to the relief efforts for the Nepalese earthquake in April 2015.
The deadly natural disaster killed 9,000 people, injured 22,000 more and caused untold amounts of damage to the country.
Ronaldo is reported to have given £5MILLION to Save the Children’s disaster relief fund – although those reports have remained unverified and were denied by the charity.
He likely did make a donation, although the amount remains a mystery.

    HELPING A CANCER CENTRE
Ronaldo’s mother, Dolores Aveiro, survived breast cancer in 2007.
The Manchester United man decided to thank the care centre in Portugal that treated his mum – adding £120,000 to their coffers.

    INVITATION TO AN ORPHAN
In Lebanese capital Beirut, Real Madrid fan Haidar was orphaned when both of his parents were killed by a suicide bomber.
A local reporter got in touch with the Spanish giants and eventually the boy was invited to the club.
It lead to a heart-rending video of Ronaldo cuddling the youngster as he burst into tears of sheer delight to meet his hero.
    HELPING A YOUNG FAN
Ronaldo was alerted to the story of  Nuhuzet Guillen, a nine-year-old with terminal cancer in 2009.
After hearing about the fan, Ronaldo decided to send a driver to bring the family to the hotel where the Real Madrid team were staying.
After emerging from the lift, he is reported to have joked to the youngster: “Don’t you want to say anything?”
He dedicated a goal to Nuhuzet, inviting him to watch the match in his private box at the Bernabeu, and after the game gave him his match shirt.

After speaking with his father, Ronaldo learned there was not much that could be done, although there was experimental treatment available in the US, which the star paid for.
When Nuhuzet’s condition worsened, Ronaldo offered to pay for all of his medication, costing hundreds of thousands, and treatment at a private medical centre.
Ronaldo paid that for more than a year, until the boy sadly passed away in March 2013.GENEROUS WITH HIS TIME
Ronaldo is often targeted by pitch invaders for selfies and pictures.
But rather than avoid the fans, CR7 knows he is an icon to these people and instead often stops for pictures.
On numerous occasions he has stopped fans from being dealt with by heavy-handed security.
Ronaldo also loves to interact with supporters inside stadiums, often staying to throw his shirt into the crowd, sign autographs and take pictures.

    HELPING ANOTHER YOUNG FAN
In 2014, the mother of another young fan, ten-month-old Erik Ortiz Cruz, asked Ronaldo to donate a shirt to the boy, who has cortical dysplasia.
The brain abnormality causes up to 30 seizures a day.
After hearing the full story Ronaldo paid £55,000 for initial brain surgery and pledged to cover the cost of any follow-up treatment – although none has so far been needed.
He also helped raise extra money for Erik by donating a signed kit to sell at auction.

    BROKEN ARM
During a pre-season friendly at Bournemouth, Ronaldo blasted one of his trademark free-kicks into the crowd at the Vitality Stadium.
Unfortunately for 11-year-old Charlie Silverwood, the shot broke the boy’s arm.
Club president Florentino Perez called Charlie, while Ronaldo gave him a signed Real Madrid shirt.
During a Champions League clash he also hit a shot into the crowd that made a young boy cry.
He leapt into the stand to give the youngster his training top.

    BEST FRIEND EVER
Super-agent Jorge Mendes named Ronaldo as his best man when he married Sandra in 2015.
And Ronaldo decided to reward his Portuguese friend handsomely, buying him a whole Greek Island as a wedding present.
The island is said to have cost almost £40MILLION.
    INVITATION FOR RICKSEN
Rangers legend Fernando Ricksen was suddenly diagnosed with motor neurone disease in 2013.
The former Netherlands international was wheelchair-bound and relied on his wife and carers to look after him until his death in September 2019.
After his condition became well-known, Ronaldo contacted the Scottish title winner on social media to invite Ricksen and his family to a match at the Bernabeu.
Ronaldo also presented a shirt to the former right-back after a Champions League win over Legia Warsaw in October 2016.

    SUPER TEAM-MATE
After La Decima, Real Madrid’s players not only got that win bonus from the club, but also a special gift from Ronaldo.
The player of the tournament decided to reward his team-mates with personalised watches from luxury watch brand Bvlgari.
Each watch was personalised and said to have cost him £5,000 each.

    BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING
Ronaldo’s father, Denis was an alcoholic who battled with his addiction for years before his death in 2005.
Older brother Hugo Aveiro was heading down that same path, addicted to alcohol and drugs.
But as Ronaldo’s fame grew he decided to intervene – promising to dedicate La Decima to his older brother if he kicked his destructive habits.
He did and then came on to the pitch to share an emotional embrace with Ronaldo after full-time.
Hugo, who is ten years older than Cristiano, has since been pictured alongside Ronaldo at numerous events, including the 2016 Ballon d’Or ceremony.
Ronaldo is also godfather to Hugo’s son, while the Juventus and Portugal star decided to put his older brother in charge of the Ronaldo Museum in Madeira.
So next time someone mentions how much they hate Ronaldo’s preening on the field, just remember how much he helps out off it.

    PATIENCE OF A SAINT
Humble Cristiano Ronaldo happily waited 40 minutes for a table in a restaurant and is a ‘decent boy’, reveals chefCredit: Instagram / @georginagio
Humble Ronaldo showed he is just like the rest of us when he went out for a pre-Christmas dinner with girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez and son Cristiano Jr in December 2018.
Turin chef Davide Fiore offered the exclusive party a spot at 9.30pm – only for the Ronaldo clan to rock up 90 minutes early and have to wait FOURTY minutes for a table.
But the forward didn’t throw his toys out of the pram like some critics might’ve expected, instead waiting patiently with no sign of arrogance and Fiore described him as a ‘decent boy’.
    A GREAT TIPPER
Ronaldo is a massive fan of the luxury Costa Navarino resort in southern Greece and has stayed there multiple times.
The area comprises several sites, with two five-star hotels, as well as luxury private residences, conference facilities, spas and golf courses. It is not clear exactly where Ronaldo was staying – the owners enforced a media blackout to allow Ronaldo and his family some privacy – but he clearly loved it.
After week long stays in 2018 and 2019, Ronaldo left a massive tip for the staff who had looked after him, paying £20,000 on top of his bill to be shared among ten staff on both occasions.
    NEVER FORGETS A KIND GESTURE
Ronaldo revealed he was given free burgers by three women when he used to beg for food as a child.
After a massive appeal, one of the women was found – after Ron claimed he would knock on the door of a McDonald’s next to Sporting Lisbon’s stadium.
After days of searching, Paula Leca came forward to say she was one of the three women – calling Ronaldo ‘timid’.
And Ronaldo has offered to take generous Paula out for dinner either in Turin or Lisbon as a token of his gratitude.
    PAYING FOR LIFE-SAVING TREATMENT
    Youngster Tomas required life-saving treatment
Alongside Georgina, Ronaldo helped pay for a child’s cancer treatment.
Portuguese youngster Tomas was diagnosed with rare cancer neuroblastoma in September 2019.
After suffering a relapse in October last year, Tomas’ parents appealed to try and get funding for their brave child’s operations.
And it appears that Cristiano and Georgina discreetly stepped up in the time of need. A message, shared by Georgina’s sister Ivana, confirmed the star couple’s involvement.
It thanks ‘various people of great humanity’ for their generosity in the time of need.
And it goes on to add: “Thank you Georgina and Cristiano for your help, solidarity and great heart.
“Infinite thanks for helping us so that Tomas can access treatment.”
The brave kid then checked in to D’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona for tests and oncology consultations. But it wouldn’t have been possible, if not for Ronaldo.

The Sun revealed that her father is a convicted cocaine trafficker named Jorge Rodriguez, 71, who spent ten years in jail.
The 27-year-old was first spotted on a string of dates with then-Real Madrid superstar Ronaldo towards the end of 2016.

Georgina has claimed that her first meeting with the football star was “love at first sight.”
“Our first meeting was at Gucci, where I worked as a sales assistant,” she recalled in an interview with The Sun .
“Days later, we saw each other again at another brand’s event.
“It was then that we could talk in a relaxed atmosphere, outside my work environment. It was love at first sight for both.”

News of her relationship with the footballer began to emerge in November 2016 when they were snapped walking around Disneyland Paris arm-in-arm and publicly showing their affection for one another.
And despite putting on a disguise, the Italian magazine Chi was able to identify Ronaldo as he cuddled up to his new love interest.
Georgina gave birth to baby daughter Alana Martina on November 12, 2017, with Ronaldo posting a picture on Instagram, writing: “Alana Martina is just born! Both Geo and Alana are doing great! We are all very happy!'”
And just over two years later, the pair were forced to deny rumours that they had got hitched in a low-key ceremony in Morocco.

The couple appeared to start dating a few months after Ronaldo was caught cuddling up to fitness model Cassandre Davis in August 2016.

Rodriguez did not confirm she is expecting but the hint certainly suggested there was a possibility she was pregnant. More

Man Utd to hold Cristiano Ronaldo’s medical in Lisbon after ‘making official contract offer’ ahead of emotional transfer

MANCHESTER UNITED have launched an official bid to sensationally re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo with a medical to follow in Lisbon. The Old Trafford legend informed current club Juventus of his desire to leave after three years in Italy.

Initially, his agent held talks with City over a possible move but the Premier League champions ruled themselves out without making an offer.
Attention then soon shifted to United after their manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – Ronaldo’s former team-mate – opened the door for a transfer.
And according to Fabrizio Romano, Juve have received an offer from United, who are ready to find an agreement.
With Ronaldo hoping to resolve his future immediately, he has arrived in Lisbon to complete a medical after he flew via private jet.
Ronaldo, 36, signed for Juve in 2018 from Real Madrid for £99million but has been linked with a move away all summer.
He was even rumoured with a return to the Spanish capital, forcing himself and Real boss Carlo Ancelotti to distance themselves from the speculation.

But it was this week revealed Ronaldo informed his agent Jorge Mendes to facilitate a move away from Juve.
He missed their season opener against Udinese, which ended 2-2, and manager Max Allegri confirmed the forward wanted out.
Allegri said: “Yesterday Cristiano told me that he has no intention of continuing at Juventus.
“This is why he will not be called up tomorrow, he did not train yesterday and now we can talk about [the] Empoli [game]. That is most important.”
Ronaldo then boarded a private jet with Mendes after saying goodbye to his team-mates.
But news then broke that City – after a striker after failing to land Tottenham’s Harry Kane – pulled out of the race to sign the Portugal captain.
Yesterday Cristiano told me that he has no intention of continuing at Juventus.Juventus manager Max Allegri
United then made a move and Solskjaer, who spent four years playing with Ronaldo, revealed Bruno Fernandes had already been in touch with his international team-mate.
He said: I didn’t think Cristiano was going to leave Juventus. But if ever he is going to move away from Juventus he knows we are here.
“We’ve always had a good communication, Bruno has been talking to him as well. He knows how we feel about him.
“He is a legend of this club, the greatest players of all time if you ask me. So let’s see what happens with him.”
Juve are said to be looking for around £25m for the attacker, who has one-year left on his contract which sees him earn close to £540,000-a-week.
The latest news is that United have offered Ronaldo a deal until 2023, with paperworks to be gone over soon now Juve had had an offer sent.

Why Man Utd do NOT want to sign Cristiano Ronaldo as Solskjaer makes Erling Haaland his long-term transfer target

MANCHESTER UNITED football director John Murtough and boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer favour Erling Haaland over a Cristiano Ronaldo return. The 21-year-old Norwegian wonderkid is the preferred long-term No9 target.

Ronaldo looks set to join Man CityCredit: GETTY IMAGES
According to Manchester Evening News, both Murtough and Solskjaer are in mutual agreement that Haaland is the forward they should be targeting.
And acknowledge that a move to complete a fairytale Ronaldo return to United would all but end the club’s pursuit of Haaland, something they’re not prepared to do.
Ronaldo does look set to return to the Premier League, in fact back to Manchester, but the blue side.
But the potential move has angered a lot of United fans who see it as a betrayal.
A move to rivals City could see his United legacy of three Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a Champions League tarnished.
Letting Ronaldo go to rivals Manchester City could actually serve United well.

Haaland’s release clause is set to kick in, meaning he can leave Borussia Dortmund for just £64million next summer.
If City sign Ronaldo, it would most likely rule out a move for Haaland next term.
The ex-Molde man also ‘dreams’ of playing in the Premier League.
And Man Utd have one advantage over their rivals: Norwegian Solskjaer’s personal ties with his compatriot.
Ronaldo, 15 years Haaland’s senior, offers very little sell-on value.

Whereas United signing Haaland at a bargain price of £64m makes much more financial sense.
The Red Devils would already guaranteed to make profit should they decide to sell later down the line.
Should Haaland decide to follow in Kylian Mbappe’s footsteps and look to make another big money move, he would almost certainly move for a fee much larger than the release clause paid.

Speculation has intensified this afternoon after Manchester City’s official Portuguese Twitter account dropped a huge hint about their reported pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo.
The page responded to a tweet by outlet Mundo da Bola about Ronaldo joining the club, with a cryptic emoji – before deleting their comment just moments later.
City fans have been sent into overdrive after seeing the tweet, with one user saying: “Man City Portugal just deleted the tweet about ronaldo. I’m in love.”
Another wrote “It’s over, check man city portugal” with some fans believing a deal is on the verge of being done.
And as of today Ronaldo is available at odds as short as 1/3 to complete a money-spinning switch after a frenzy of activity in the betting market.

SunSport exclusively reported today that CR7 wants £510,000-a-week to join the Cityzens from Juventus.
The Serie A giants are said to want around a £25million fee for the 36-year-old, but City do not want to pay that.
Instead, City would allegedly prefer to give all the cash to Ronaldo by attempting to lure the 36-year-old with £26million over two years, according to respected Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
And after missing out on Harry Kane Pep Guardiola is reportedly going all out to get a deal over the line for CR7.
The Juve forward was BENCHED by head coach Massimiliano Allegri for their Serie A season opener against Udinese on Sunday as rumours swirled regarding his future.

But Real Madrid were the reported frontrunners for his signature at the time.
Now though Manchester City have emerged as the favourites to snap up the football icon after Ronaldo himself rubbished suggestions of a return to Madrid.
However, a sensational move to PSG to link up with Lionel Messi has also been rumoured should Kylian Mbappe end up at Real Madrid this summer.  More

And the United legend will hope it could open the door for him to make a sensational return to Manchester.
Ronaldo, 36, is looking to engineer a move out of Juventus before the transfer window closes on Tuesday.
City have been cool on the prospect of signing him since reports first surfaced earlier this month and that remains the case.
But Pep Guardiola is now faced with continuing a busy season without replacing all-time record goalscorer Sergio Aguero.
So it will be up to Ronaldo’s agent Jorge Mendes to put forward a proposal which would tempt the City hierarchy to change their minds.
City made no secret of their wish to land Kane – and were convinced he wanted to come and join them.

That would normally be enough to see a deal get done and personal terms would not have been a problem.
But the champions have shown in the past they will not be held to ransom.
They walked away from moves for Harry Maguire, Jorginho and Alexis Sanchez because in the end they did not feel they were getting good value.

And there was no way they were going to pay north of £150 million for a 28-year-old – no matter how good he is.
With Daniel Levy unwilling to negotiate, it became clear in recent days they were not going to hit a figure that suited both parties.
Even up until Tuesday night, there was hope at City that the Spurs chairman would be willing to negotiate – yet he did not come to the table.

So Kane’s announcement on Wednesday lunchtime that he would be staying at Tottenham finally drew a line under the big transfer saga of the summer.
City sources now expect £100m record buy Jack Grealish will be the only addition to the squad in the current transfer window.
And Guardiola said on Saturday he will not moan if that turns out to be the case.
