Maurizio Sarri holds live EAGLE aloft to celebrate Lazio’s derby win over bitter rivals Jose Mourinho’s Roma

MAURIZIO SARRI held a live EAGLE aloft as his Lazio side soared to a 3-2 derby-day victory against bitter rivals Roma. The Italian came out on top in the battle of the former Chelsea managers with Jose Mourinho suffering defeat in his Derby della Capitale debut.

Goals from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Pedro and Felipe Anderson secured the victory.
That was despite Roger Ibanez and Jordan Veretout twice reducing the deficit and threatening a comeback.
And ecstatic Sarri, who also joined Lazio this summer, celebrated the crunch victory by saluting the Curva Nord crowd with the massive bald eagle Olympia – Lazio’s club mascot – perched on his hand.
Meanwhile, Mourinho made sure his Roma players knew the performance they put in would not fly… holding a team talk on the pitch.
Sarri, who took over as Lazio boss in June, said: “Olympia sleeps close to my room at the Formello training ground, so I hear her sometimes.
“I will admit, it was emotionally one of the most exhilarating matches of my career.

“I didn’t expect the derby to give you this adrenaline rush and satisfaction at winning.
“This is real football, it’s not a PlayStation game.
“Tonight I saw seven or eight situations that I really liked, but we cannot clone one team and make it work elsewhere.”
Lazio came into the iconic derby feeling the pressure with a four-match winless run including two draws and two defeats in all competitions.
But with just ten minutes on the clock, Milinkovic-Savic headed in the opener.
And it was 2-0 nine minutes later when Pedro struck.
    DERBY DELIGHT
That goal ensured he became just the third player to score for both teams in this bitter rivalry – netting for Roma in May.
Nicolo Zaniolo struck the post before Ibanez pulled one back for Mourinho’s side, but Anderson restored a two-goal advantage for Lazio in the second half by finishing off a clinical counter-attack.
Veretout converted a controversial penalty to give Roma hope.
But veteran goalkeeper Pepe Reina produced two excellent saves to deny the Giallorossi an equaliser as Lazio climbed to sixth place on 11 points, one point behind fourth-placed Roma.
Lazio’s goalscoring midfielder Milinkovic-Savic told DAZN: “We finally had a good game. We played a lot better than in the previous matches.
“We needed a derby win to go ahead and have extra motivation in our next matches.”

Ronaldo is also believed to be one of 10 people lucky enough to buy the incredible Bugatti Centodieci, which costs £8.5m

Ronaldo has reportedly spent £1.4m on an amazing Ferrari MonzaCredit: Alamy
It joins a limited edition £8.5million Bugatti Centodieci – of which only ten have been made, he added to his incredible fleet last year.
Ronaldo, 36, took his new motor for a spin as he arrived to training at United’s The AON Carrington Training Complex.
While in 2020, he was spotted taking a tour of Ferrari’s Maranello company, where he posed for a picture with a F1 car and ordered himself a Ferrari Monza worth £1.4million.
That puts his car collection now at around roughly £17million – with Bugattis being his favourite.
Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo has a Bugatti Chiron and a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse as part of his huge hoard.
He has ‘CR7’ embroidered on the headrests of his other two Bugattis, but his latest model he bought is believed to be a tribute to the legendary Bugatti EB110 – Centodieci is Italian for 110.
The Centodieci boasts an 8 litre W16 engine, with special models having 1600hp – some 100hp more than the Chiron and, overall, three times the price of that model.
It can do 0-62mph in just 2.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 236mph.
The Portuguese superstar has supercars likes Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Rolls Royces, admitting to Piers Morgan in an interview he likes to have two of everything.

What do you buy your boyfriend if he has everything?
    Well if you’re Georgina Rodriguez you get a massive, gift-wrapped Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
The gorgeous former shop assistant made sure CR7’s had the best 35th birthday ever – gifting him a stunning Mercedes G Wagon Brabus that can cost as much £600,000.
And the brilliant SUV can reach top speeds of 137mph.

    BUGATTI CHIRON, £2.15MILLION
In 2017, Ronaldo’s need for speed saw the mercurial forward splash the cash on a stunning silver Bugatti Chiron.
Incredibly, it can reach speeds of 260 mph, and does 0-60 in just under 2.5 seconds, not that Turin will allow him the opportunity to drive it that fast with the city’s busy traffic.
As we said, he likes two of everything – and this was the second Bugatti he bought, although he has denied buying a third  – the Bugatti La Voiture Noire – which was reckoned to be the most expensive car in the world EVER at £9.49million, and was snapped up by a mystery buyer last year.

    BUGATTI VEYRON, £1.7M
Only 450 Veyron 16.4 Grand Sports were built, so of course Ronaldo wanted a slice of that rarity pie.
It cost him £1.7m, and will only increase in value as the years go by.
The Portuguese legend bought the car as a treat after winning Euro 2016 with his country.
In terms of performance, it does 0-62 mph in 2.6 seconds, and has an outer skin completely made of carbon fibre.

    LAMBORGHINI AVENTADOR, £260,040
Simply because a Bugatti Veyron won’t fulfil Ronaldo’s love of fast cars, in the same year he bought that motor he splashed on a Lamborghini Aventador.
Made in 2011, it’s the most celebrated model by the Italian car designer – and owned by footballers all over the world, not scared of the outlandish price.
Ronaldo celebrated his purchase on Instagram in 2016, with a picture with the caption: “Bom dia (good morning)”.

    ROLLS ROYCE CULLINAN, FROM £330,000
Last year Ronaldo added a Cullinan to his collection, having previously owned a Rolls Royce Phantom worth around £363,000.
Showing his loyalty to his new employers, CR7 even personalised the interior with black and white leather.
Standing at five metres long, the Cullinan boasts a V12 engine and a horse power of 571.
It is the only SUV Rolls Royce have ever produced.

    CHEVROLET CAMARO, £35,000
Maybe he learned something from Sir Alex Ferguson about American cars, after all the former Manchester United boss drove a Chevrolet to training when he was Red Devils manager.
A more economic motor than others in his garage, the Camaro has a 6.2-litre V8 engine that delivers 453 horsepower.
It’s cheaper than anything else he owns, and was bought in 2016 as a family car.

    FERRARI F12 TDF, £350,000
In 2017, Ronaldo bought an F12 TDF – another collector’s item with only 799 made in the world.
It is certainly one of the favourites he owns, and is zippy with a top speed of 211 mph, and capable of doing 0-62 in 2.9 seconds.
Needless to say, pet-friendly Ronaldo won’t let his pooches in though.

    RANGE ROVER SPORT, £100,000
A staple for every footballers’ garage, the Range Rover Sport is the ultimate SUV for the rich and famous.
The model that Ronaldo drives is, of course, is the special edition, SVR.

In 2016 Ronaldo filled his garage with supercar after supercar.
His AMG GLE 63 was a gift to himself for Christmas, and some present it is.
The SUV has a 612 horse power engine, and it can reach a top speed of 155 mph.

    MCLAREN SENNA, £1MILLION
A car made as a dedication to the legendary Brazilian racing driver Ayrton Senna, it would’ve set Ronaldo back around £1million – with only 500 models ever made.
So enamoured by its performance on Top Gear, former presenter Jeremy Clarkson said of the McLaren Senna it has ‘rewritten the supercar rule book’.
Powered by a twin-turbo charged V8 engine that produces 800 horse power, it can hit 0-62 mph in just 2.8 seconds.
Mika Hakkinen is another sports star who owns one of these beauties.

    BENTLEY CONTINENTAL GT, FROM £151,000
Ronaldo is believed to have started collecting cars from around 2009, when he was a Manchester United star.
He had a penchant for Bentley Continental GTs in those early days, and collected several during his time at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo’s was the GT Speed model, which was naturally the most expensive version ever.
The interior was lush, filled with magnolia leather.
And because it was a convertible, Ronaldo was often spied with the roof down – even in rainy Manchester.

Calciomercato.com claim cops already knew 13 of the 18 Inter supporters who have been charged with offences.
And police are also said to have identified 12 other fans caught up in the fighting.
The ugly scenes erupted in Piazza Alberti, five minutes driving from the Artemio Franchi Stadium.
A video published by Football Italia shows two rival groups trading blows in the middle of the street.
And police are investigating if yet more supporters can be picked out as trouble-makers, on top of the 30 already identified.
Serie A stadiums are still at around half-capacity as the Covid-19 pandemic continues, meaning 16,000 saw champions Inter go top with a 3-1 comeback win.

Fiorentina then had Nicolas Gonzalez sent off late on for two quickfire bookings.
Inter coach Simone Inzaghi said: “We suffered in the first half-hour and Fiorentina deserve credit for that.
“Then we fought back and scored three goals, there could even have been more.
“It was not easy, so this was the performance of a great team.
“I am above all pleased with the reaction, because going behind like that to a team on their turf, with such enthusiasm in the stands and on the pitch, that is no mean feat.”

Cristiano Ronaldo ‘broke transfer pact with Juventus’ by sealing deadline day return to Man Utd

CRISTIANO RONALDO broke a transfer ‘pact’ with his former club Juventus by moving back to Manchester United, reports say.The legendary forward, 36, was expected to see out the final year of his contract in Turin.
Cristiano Ronaldo, 36, has scored four goals in three games for Man Utd since returningCredit: GETTY IMAGES
But he decided to complete a dramatic deadline day return to former club Man Utd.
Ronaldo’s agent, Jorge Mendes, had been working to find a way out of Juventus for his client.
And super agent Mendes had offered Ronaldo to both Manchester City and Atletico Madrid.
But the LaLiga champions turned the chance to sign Ronaldo down due to fears over backlash from their fans.
According to Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, Mendes made an agreement that Ronaldo could only move on before August 15 – two weeks before the deadline.
The two weeks would then give Juve time to identify and potentially sign a replacement.

And once the August 15 deadline had passed, the Turin-based club were under the impression that Ronaldo would stay.
But as events showed, a move to Man Utd materialised quickly and the deal was officially done on deadline day.
Juve were, however, keen to get Ronaldo’s eye watering wages off the books, despite the broken ‘pact’.

Fuming Massimiliano Allegri screams ‘F***’s sake, you’re playing for Juventus’ after struggling side’s draw vs AC Milan

Alvaro Morata put Juve ahead early on but Milan fought back to claim a point late on, through Ante Rebic’s header.
The draw left the 36-time Italian champions with their worst start after four games since 1961.
And it also meant Allegri’s second spell in Turin has started with far greater difficulty than his first, when he won the league title in each of his five seasons in charge.
The 54-year-old was filmed by one fan storming down the Allianz Stadium tunnel at the final whistle in a clip that has since gone viral.
Allegri is said to have shouted ‘F***’s sake, you are playing for Juventus!’ as he departed the dugout.
Speaking to the media post-game, the coach stated: “Despite a good first-half, when we created chances and allowed Milan just one opportunity, we even risked defeat at the end of a game that had been under total control.

“Unfortunately, we lost that concentration, determination and focus. Just look at the corner where we conceded the goal, there was complacency.
“It’s not possible to give this game away after being in control. Evidently, we need to make more progress. A lot more.”

Carlo Ancelotti sends message to old rival Jose Mourinho as Chelsea legends’ bizarre relationship takes new twist

REAL MADRID boss Carlo Ancelotti has put his on-off rivalry with Jose Mourinho to one side and backed Roma to win Serie A under the Special One.The relationship between the two managers remains confusing as the Portuguese branded the Italian ‘dumb’ but later claimed he ‘loves’ him.
Mourinho and Ancelotti used to have a frosty relationshipCredit: Action Images – Reuters
But the pair are now believed to be close friendsCredit: AFP
Speaking to Gianluca di Marzio via Get Italian Football News, Ancelotti – who played for Roma from 1979 to 1987 – said: “I hope that the Giallorossi [Roma] win with Jose Mourinho.”
Roma are currently third in Serie A after picking up nine points from their opening four fixtures, losing 3-2 at Hellas Verona on Sunday.
Real, meanwhile, are currently two points clear at the top of LaLiga after making an unbeaten start to the season under Ancelotti.
Both Mourinho and Ancelotti were appointed by their current employers during the summer after spells at Tottenham and Everton respectively.
The pair had a frosty relationship when Mourinho was Inter Milan coach and Ancelotti was in charge of rivals AC Milan during the late noughties.
Mourinho criticised Ancelotti’s tactics and suggested he was ‘dumb’ after Inter defeated Milan 2-1 in February 2009 thanks to a controversial goal.

Inter striker Adriano appeared to handle the ball into the net and Ancelotti made his feelings known after the game with a series of complaints.
As quoted by the Daily Mail, Mourinho replied: “Ancelotti is the only one who thinks Adriano’s goal was a handball. Does he think we are all dumb?
“Perhaps he is [dumb] when he fails to speak about Ronaldinho’s offside goal in the first derby when they won.”
And after Ancelotti left Milan for Chelsea in the summer of 2009, Mourinho told the press he wasn’t friends with his old foe.
The Inter coach said: “Do I miss Ancelotti? No. I am never friends with my colleagues. There are those who are nice, and others who are not.”
Ancelotti responded: “I have friends outside of football. Mourinho is just a colleague who I respect.

“Friends? He is not my friend. Maybe in future when we are at the end of our careers.”
But when the two managers met in July 2020 ahead of a Premier League tie between, Mourinho called Ancelotti a ‘fantastic guy’.
He told the press: “I like him so much as a person that I’m going to say the obvious, which is that he is one of the top managers in the world.
“As a person, I’ve had the privilege of knowing him for a few years, to stay and be with him a few times… I just love Carlo.
“He is a fantastic guy so I think I am going to break the rule of one-metre distancing and I’m going to hug him because I like Carlo very much.”

Italian Football TV shared a photo on Sunday evening of Sarri smoking a cigarette in the press box during Lazio’s 2-2 draw with Cagliari.
Standing alongside Sarri was Gianni Picchioni, who is a coach at the Italian club and previously worked with the manager at Chelsea and Juventus.
The pair are thought to have met when Sarri was an amateur coach and Picchioni is said to be one of his most trusted advisers.
But fans on social media were certain Picchioni was Lineker in disguise, with one tweeting: “I didn’t know Lineker was Sarri’s assistant.”
While another – referring to Lineker’s job with LaLiga TV – wrote: “I thought Gary was doing LaLiga this season, not Serie A.”
And one person tweeted: “It can’t be Lineker, he’s not eating any crisps!”

Lineker saw the tweet and was quick to quash any transfer rumours linking him with a move from Match of the Day to the Italian capital.
The England icon replied: “It’s not me with him, honest.”
But Sarri, who was appointed Lazio boss in June, might be tempted to add Lineker to his backroom staff after a slow start to his reign.
The Italian side have picked up seven points from their first four Serie A games and are currently sixth in the table.
The Lazio job is Sarri’s first since he was sacked by Juventus in August 2020 after winning the title, just 14 months after being appointed by the Old Lady.

Jose Mourinho posts dejected photo on Instagram after first Roma defeat in Serie A but claims ‘tomorrow is another day’

JOSE MOURINHO suffered his first defeat as Roma manager on Sunday evening – and followed the result with a grumpy Instagram post. The Portuguese’s new team lost 3-2 at Hellas Verona but a sombre looking Mourinho insisted ‘tomorrow is another day’ on social media.
Jose Mourinho posted this photo on Instagram after Roma’s defeat to Hellas VeronaCredit: Getty
Roma took the lead in the 36th minute when skipper Lorenzo Pellegrini produced an outrageous, delicate flick at the near post.
Verona turned the game on its head with strikes from Antonin Barak and Gianluca Caprari before an own goal in the 58th minute made it 2-2.
Ex-Watford star Davide Faraoni then scored a goal worthy of winning any game, flicking the ball up with his left boot before volleying it into the top corner with his right.
And, just to make the goal more emphatic, his effort hit the underside of the bar, bounced over the line and then crashed into the roof of the net.
Roma were stunned by Faraoni’s genius and couldn’t find an equaliser as it finished 3-2 to Verona, leaving Mourinho to post a glum selfie on Insta.
The post was captioned: “A face that says everything, but tomorrow is another day.”

Mourinho’s side had made a stunning start to the season by winning their first six competitive fixtures in all competitions.
Roma picked up nine points from their opening three Serie A games, with Stephan El Shaarawy scoring an added-time winner against Sassuolo last week.
That was Mourinho’s 1,000th match in management and Sir Alex Ferguson has since described his old rival as one of the ‘managerial greats’.
The Italian giants have also won all three of their European ties this term, recently beating CSKA Sofia 5-1 in the Europa Conference League.
