Brittle Juventus barely recognisable from Serie A kings as Chelsea head to Turin looking for more Champions League joy

JUVENTUS are a club back in crisis. The team is barely recognisable from one that dominated Serie A with NINE straight titles.

And now they find themselves under investigation again, this time over a £37million tax probe.
The Old Lady confirmed its books are being scrutinised by the Italian stock exchange in an inspection that has already lasted two months.
Juve posted an Italian record losses of £181m in their accounts for last season, published this week.
But the smallprint revealed that the club is also subject to the ongoing probe into image rights deals worth £37m.
They were forced to sell Cristiano Ronaldo at a significant loss and were hit by their key role in the failed Super League breakaway.
And that’s just off the pitch.

On it, life after Ronaldo is far from a bed of roses.
They go into Wednesday’s huge clash with Chelsea languishing ninth in Serie A.
Juve started the season with two points from four games, including the season-opening 2-2 draw at Udinese which Ronaldo played in before his shock switch to Manchester United.
They have won their last two games but now have both Paulo Dybala and Alvaro Morata injured leaving Moise Kean as their only recognised striker for the visit of the European champions.
Max Allegri returned to the club in the summer for £8m-a-season to take over from Andrea Pirlo but finds himself in a bit of a mess.
Allegri, 54, won five successive titles with Juventus between 2014 and 2019, following Antonio Conte’s hat-trick from 2011-14.
Conte’s wins came, of course, after the club bounced back from the match-fixing debacle which saw them relegated from Serie A in 2006.
Allegri was replaced by Maurizio Sarri, who lasted only a year despite guiding the club to a NINTH successive title.
Moise Kean has scored just once for Juventus following his summer arrival from EvertonCredit: Getty
Pirlo proved to be a massive disappointment and the club finished fourth last season, only qualifying for the Champions League thanks to a final-day implosion by Napoli.
Right now, Juve can look miles off Inter Milan and there is no way they will win the Champions League.
Before leaving, Ronaldo scored 101 goals in 134 games at Juventus. He led the way with 29 in Serie A last season.
As well as losing Ronaldo for economic reasons, Juve failed to sign goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma from AC Milan due to wage demands  and instead, he moved to PSG.
Former Arsenal keeper Wojciech Szczesny has been in terrible form and he finally paid the price ahead of Sunday’s 3-2 win over Sampdoria and was dropped for Mattia Perin.
Juve have been playing in a 4-4-2 system but the injuries to their two forwards is likely to spark a change against Chelsea.
Despite forming the bedrock of Italy’s defence at Euro 2020, 37-year-old skipper Giorgio Chiellini and Leonardo Bonnuci, 34, are coming to the end of their careers.
In the summer, Juve’s only arrival was Manuel Locatelli from Sassuolo who is an all-action midfielder.
But it is that departure of Ronaldo that has now left this team looking low-key and without an attacking A-lister.
Juventus legend Marco Tardelli, speaking to SunSport, said: “Juve need to start defending better and there is nothing wrong with winning 1-0.
“But I am not optimistic about the match against Chelsea. I like how Chelsea play overall because they can put Romelu Lukaku in the middle of their attack.”
Italian goalkeeper legend Dino Zoff, 79, played for Juve between 1972 to 1983 including 330 matches in a row. He captained Italy to the World Cup in 1982.
He said: “Juventus-Chelsea is a high level game with two very strong teams but at the moment I can’t say who will win in Turin. Without Dybala and Morata, who scores against Chelsea?”

Olivier Giroud hits out at Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel for ‘difficult months’ calling Milan transfer ‘obvious’ decision

The striker struggled for game time under Blues boss Thomas TuchelCredit: Getty
Giroud told Telefoot via Get French Football News: “I really liked the Premier League, but you get to a point where a decision has to be made.
“My last three months over there – and this I said to the manager, Tuchel – were too difficult. It seemed evident that I had to leave the club.
“A page was turning, with some emotion and after some fantastic moments there.
“There were good and bad times, but we did win three very nice titles.”
Giroud started just eight Premier League games at Chelsea last season and struggled for minutes after Tuchel’s appointment in January.
The Blues reached FA Cup and Champions League finals, winning the latter, but the former Arsenal striker started neither game.

Giroud was linked with Milan at the beginning of the year and completed a move after France were dumped out of Euro 2020 by Switzerland.
Discussing the transfer, he added: “It’s true that a lot of things have happened in these last few weeks, these last few months.
“For me, [choosing to sign for Milan] was the obvious choice, there weren’t exactly 15 clubs interested in signing me.
“I was a fan of the great Milan side of when I was younger, with Papin, Baresi, Van Basten.
“I’m immensely proud to have been able to sign for this club. I hope I can enjoy myself here.
“I had a great welcome, like I was welcomed into a family. I’ve started off really well, and I’m hungry for success with Milan.”

Tottenham ‘eye Juventus star Dejan Kulusevski transfer’ with new sporting director Paratici giving Spurs huge advantage

TOTTENHAM are tracking Juventus star Dejan Kulusevski ahead of a possible January transfer, according to reports. The Swedish forward, 21, cost an initial £30million when signed by the Old Lady last year but he has yet to meet expectations in Turin.
Fabio Paratici is reportedly a big fan of Juventus ace Dejan Kulusevski
A tally of just seven goals in 54 appearances has led to reduced playing time under Massimiliano Allegri.
Kulusevski again had to make do with coming off the bench against Sampdoria on the weekend, but did set up the third goal of a 3-2 win.
Tottenham are said by the Mirror to have sent scouts to watch the winger in action.
However their trip resulted in just a seven-minute outing in the Champions League game with Malmo earlier this month.
Spurs are said to be monitoring Kulusevski’s situation with a move in January potentially opening up if he remains out of the Juventus line-up.
One ace up the Premier League club’s sleeve could be Fabio Paratici, the sporting director who joined in the summer after a stint with the Serie A team.

The Italian is described as a huge fan of Kulusevski and spearheaded his move from Atalanta after a promising loan spell with Parma last season.
And there are growing calls from the player’s homeland of Sweden to push for regular first-team football at Juve, or seek a move elsewhere.
Sven-Goran Eriksson has told him to wait until the summer before moving on.
He told The Italian Football Podcast: “Obviously, the coach sees something that makes him not trust him 100 per cent.
I don’t think he should leave Juve now, but if this goes on all season then I think he should.Sven Goran-Eriksson
“But with the talent Kulusevski has, he can do things on his own. So, it is very strange that he doesn’t start every game.
“I don’t think he should leave Juve now, but if this goes on all season, and that he’s sitting on the bench, then I think he should leave.
“Also, at his age, with his talent, also for the Swedish national team, he needs to play regularly, he has to play a lot. If not he won’t become the great player we hope he will become.”

Man Utd and Chelsea monitoring Franck Kessie transfer situation with AC Milan midfielder ‘wanting Prem switch’

MANCHESTER UNITED are one of several Premier League teams keeping an eye on AC Milan star Franck Kessie, according to reports.Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton are all said to be in the mix for the Ivorian following his strong form for the Italian club.
Franck Kessie is being tracked by multiple Premier League teamsCredit: AFP
Kessie, 24, is out of contract at the end of the season, his fifth at the San Siro.
English clubs will therefore be able to negotiate a pre-agreement for a summer free transfer as soon as January.
As reported by 90min, United and many Prem rivals have asked Kessie’s agent to be kept in the loop if the player decides to hear out offers.
Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also named in the report but the midfielder is said to prefer a move to England, which is seen as a better fit for his playing style.
But Milan still have a couple of months to persuade him to stay.
Talks over a new contract are said to be at a standstill following Kessie’s rejection of a new deal.

Reports in Italy detail Milan’s proposal to more than double his current £35,000 weekly wage to over £80,000-a-week.
That would then rise to £105,000-a-week in the final two years of the proposed five-year contract, according to Tuttosport.
However, Kessie is said to be seeking as much as £115,000-a-week as a starting salary, following his role in Milan’s resurgence over the past year.
A decision will reportedly be made by the former Atalanta star in January over whether he will stick with the Rossoneri or head for pastures new.
Should he choose to move on, Milan are described by Corriere dello Sport as increasingly confident that the emerging Sandro Tonali will step up as the key man in their midfield.

Raging Roma boss Jose Mourinho storms out of press conference and argues with Lazio press officer after fiery derby

A FURIOUS Jose Mourinho stormed out of a press conference when he realised he would not be allowed to talk to reporters directly. The Roma manager was desperate to defend himself and his players following their action-packed derby defeat by Lazio.

Covid restrictions in place at Lazio mean journalists have to submit questions to a press officer who then asks them to the manager in a bid to reduce contacts.
But Mourinho was not having any of it and was caught on camera telling staff he would not follow the rules.
He raged: “Lazio chose for their coach, I want to talk to the press.”
When told he would not be able to, Mourinho marched out of the room and saying: “OK, OK, they’ll talk to him.”
Initial reports in Italy suggested the Roma boss actually feuded with journalists rather than being eager to speak to them.
But video footage confirmed his campaign for free speech at the Stadio OIimpico.

Mourinho did fulfil his commitments with broadcaster DAZN and used his interview to blast the officials and VAR after his side’s 3-2 defeat.
He said: “Unfortunately, a fantastic game was ruined by the referee and VAR, who were not at the right level for this match.”
Roma have seen a fine start to their season turn into a wobble with two league defeats in three.

Goals from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Pedro and Felipe Anderson secured the victory.
That was despite Roger Ibanez and Jordan Veretout twice reducing the deficit and threatening a comeback.
And ecstatic Sarri, who also joined Lazio this summer, celebrated the crunch victory by saluting the Curva Nord crowd with the massive bald eagle Olympia – Lazio’s club mascot – perched on his hand.
Meanwhile, Mourinho made sure his Roma players knew the performance they put in would not fly… holding a team talk on the pitch.
Sarri, who took over as Lazio boss in June, said: “Olympia sleeps close to my room at the Formello training ground, so I hear her sometimes.
“I will admit, it was emotionally one of the most exhilarating matches of my career.

“I didn’t expect the derby to give you this adrenaline rush and satisfaction at winning.
“This is real football, it’s not a PlayStation game.
“Tonight I saw seven or eight situations that I really liked, but we cannot clone one team and make it work elsewhere.”
Lazio came into the iconic derby feeling the pressure with a four-match winless run including two draws and two defeats in all competitions.
But with just ten minutes on the clock, Milinkovic-Savic headed in the opener.
And it was 2-0 nine minutes later when Pedro struck.
    DERBY DELIGHT
That goal ensured he became just the third player to score for both teams in this bitter rivalry – netting for Roma in May.
Nicolo Zaniolo struck the post before Ibanez pulled one back for Mourinho’s side, but Anderson restored a two-goal advantage for Lazio in the second half by finishing off a clinical counter-attack.
Veretout converted a controversial penalty to give Roma hope.
But veteran goalkeeper Pepe Reina produced two excellent saves to deny the Giallorossi an equaliser as Lazio climbed to sixth place on 11 points, one point behind fourth-placed Roma.
Lazio’s goalscoring midfielder Milinkovic-Savic told DAZN: “We finally had a good game. We played a lot better than in the previous matches.
“We needed a derby win to go ahead and have extra motivation in our next matches.”

Ronaldo is also believed to be one of 10 people lucky enough to buy the incredible Bugatti Centodieci, which costs £8.5m

It joins a limited edition £8.5million Bugatti Centodieci – of which only ten have been made, he added to his incredible fleet last year.
Ronaldo, 36, took his new motor for a spin as he arrived to training at United’s The AON Carrington Training Complex.
While in 2020, he was spotted taking a tour of Ferrari’s Maranello company, where he posed for a picture with a F1 car and ordered himself a Ferrari Monza worth £1.4million.
That puts his car collection now at around roughly £17million – with Bugattis being his favourite.
Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo has a Bugatti Chiron and a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse as part of his huge hoard.
He has ‘CR7’ embroidered on the headrests of his other two Bugattis, but his latest model he bought is believed to be a tribute to the legendary Bugatti EB110 – Centodieci is Italian for 110.
The Centodieci boasts an 8 litre W16 engine, with special models having 1600hp – some 100hp more than the Chiron and, overall, three times the price of that model.
It can do 0-62mph in just 2.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 236mph.
The Portuguese superstar has supercars likes Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Rolls Royces, admitting to Piers Morgan in an interview he likes to have two of everything.

And the brilliant SUV can reach top speeds of 137mph.

    BUGATTI CHIRON, £2.15MILLION
In 2017, Ronaldo’s need for speed saw the mercurial forward splash the cash on a stunning silver Bugatti Chiron.
Incredibly, it can reach speeds of 260 mph, and does 0-60 in just under 2.5 seconds, not that Turin will allow him the opportunity to drive it that fast with the city’s busy traffic.
As we said, he likes two of everything – and this was the second Bugatti he bought, although he has denied buying a third  – the Bugatti La Voiture Noire – which was reckoned to be the most expensive car in the world EVER at £9.49million, and was snapped up by a mystery buyer last year.

    BUGATTI VEYRON, £1.7M
Only 450 Veyron 16.4 Grand Sports were built, so of course Ronaldo wanted a slice of that rarity pie.
It cost him £1.7m, and will only increase in value as the years go by.
The Portuguese legend bought the car as a treat after winning Euro 2016 with his country.
In terms of performance, it does 0-62 mph in 2.6 seconds, and has an outer skin completely made of carbon fibre.

    LAMBORGHINI AVENTADOR, £260,040
Simply because a Bugatti Veyron won’t fulfil Ronaldo’s love of fast cars, in the same year he bought that motor he splashed on a Lamborghini Aventador.
Made in 2011, it’s the most celebrated model by the Italian car designer – and owned by footballers all over the world, not scared of the outlandish price.
Ronaldo celebrated his purchase on Instagram in 2016, with a picture with the caption: “Bom dia (good morning)”.

    ROLLS ROYCE CULLINAN, FROM £330,000
Last year Ronaldo added a Cullinan to his collection, having previously owned a Rolls Royce Phantom worth around £363,000.
Showing his loyalty to his new employers, CR7 even personalised the interior with black and white leather.
Standing at five metres long, the Cullinan boasts a V12 engine and a horse power of 571.
It is the only SUV Rolls Royce have ever produced.

    CHEVROLET CAMARO, £35,000
Maybe he learned something from Sir Alex Ferguson about American cars, after all the former Manchester United boss drove a Chevrolet to training when he was Red Devils manager.
A more economic motor than others in his garage, the Camaro has a 6.2-litre V8 engine that delivers 453 horsepower.
It’s cheaper than anything else he owns, and was bought in 2016 as a family car.

    FERRARI F12 TDF, £350,000
In 2017, Ronaldo bought an F12 TDF – another collector’s item with only 799 made in the world.
It is certainly one of the favourites he owns, and is zippy with a top speed of 211 mph, and capable of doing 0-62 in 2.9 seconds.
Needless to say, pet-friendly Ronaldo won’t let his pooches in though.

    RANGE ROVER SPORT, £100,000
A staple for every footballers’ garage, the Range Rover Sport is the ultimate SUV for the rich and famous.
The model that Ronaldo drives is, of course, is the special edition, SVR.

    MCLAREN SENNA, £1MILLION
A car made as a dedication to the legendary Brazilian racing driver Ayrton Senna, it would’ve set Ronaldo back around £1million – with only 500 models ever made.
So enamoured by its performance on Top Gear, former presenter Jeremy Clarkson said of the McLaren Senna it has ‘rewritten the supercar rule book’.
Powered by a twin-turbo charged V8 engine that produces 800 horse power, it can hit 0-62 mph in just 2.8 seconds.

Ronaldo is believed to have started collecting cars from around 2009, when he was a Manchester United star.
He had a penchant for Bentley Continental GTs in those early days, and collected several during his time at Old Trafford.
Ronaldo’s was the GT Speed model, which was naturally the most expensive version ever.
