Barcelona eye Moussa Dembele as Luis Suarez replacement after Henrik Larsson ‘makes contact’ with ex-Celtic striker

FORMER Celtic star Moussa Dembele is being lined up for a stunning switch to Barcelona – by Henrik Larsson.
Lyon are ready to sell the French striker, two years after his £20million switch from Parkhead.

Celtic legend and Barcelona No2 Henrik Larsson has reportedly been in contact with the striker
Dembele has been a huge success in France, netting 44 goals – including a double in the Champions League quarter-final win over Manchester City.
But after Lyon failed to qualify for Europe after finishing seventh in Ligue 1, they are willing to cash in on Dembele.
And Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims Parkhead icon and new Barca No2 Larsson has already been in contact with the 24-year-old over a move to the Camp Nou.
Larsson – who was appointed Ronald Koeman’s assistant last week – sees Dembele as an ideal replacement for Luis Suarez, who is set to leave this summer.

Dembele is also wanted by Premier League giants Manchester United and Chelsea and could command upwards of £50m.
Celtic cannily negotiated a sell-on clause which is estimated to earn them 10-15 per cent of any fee above the £20m fee they received when he left Glasgow in 2018 – meaning they could land as much as £5m from any deal.
And Lyon’s director of football Juninho admitted the former Celt is likely to move on.

Luis Suarez is set to leave Barcelona this summer

Speaking after the semi-final defeat to Champions League winners Bayern Munich, he said: “If we continue the way we have, we will be back in the Champions League very soon.

“Players will be leaving, like Houssem Aouar and Moussa Dembele, but I’m not worried.
“We want to secure Champions League football next season.”

Andy Murray pleads with Messi to quit Barcelona for Hibs or second team Arsenal after Barcelona transfer bombshell

ANDY MURRAY has pleaded with Lionel Messi to quit Barcelona for Hibernian – or maybe move to a Premier League club as his second choice.
Britain’s greatest tennis player waded into the debate about Messi’s future plans following the shock news the Argentine superstar wants to leave the Nou Camp.

Muzza, whose maternal grandfather Roy Erskine was a professional footballer, is a mad fan of both Hibernian and Arsenal.
And when asked overnight in the US on a Zoom chat about Messi’s transfer request, he laughed: “(Is) he going to join Hibs?”
To their credit, Scottish Premiership side Hibernian joined in the banter, replying on Twitter: “We were trying to keep that quiet until a deal was over the line, Andy.”
Messi, 33, stunned the world of football on Tuesday night when he revealed he had asked Barca bosses to leave this summer.

It is claimed he sent a fax to the club saying he wishes to exercise a clause in his contract that allows him to leave for free with immediate effect.
Murray, 33, said: “I’d like to see him playing in the Premier League.
“I don’t really care who he plays for. I follow Arsenal.  But I’m not thinking he’s going to be joining them.
“It would be great for the Premier League. Maybe we’ll get the opportunity to go and watch him live a few more times.

“I watched him a bit when he was much younger. When I lived in Barcelona I got to see him play a couple of times live.

“I’ve heard a lot of people saying, ‘Oh, could he do it on a cold Wednesday in Stoke’.
“And I’ve always said: ‘Of course he could, because he’s the best player ever. He’d be absolutely fine.’
“I’d like to see him show a few people that he can do that.”
Murray is preparing now for next week’s US Open after losing 6-2 6-2 to Milos Raonic in New York in the Western & Southern Open Last 16 – a result he described as unacceptable. More

Leeds transfer blow as Rangers star Ryan Kent tells Steven Gerrard he wants to stay at Ibrox

RYAN KENT has told Steven Gerrard he wants to stay at Rangers.
The Ibrox club are bracing themselves for an improved bid from Leeds United.

The Premier League new boys had a £10million offer rejected by Gers last week, as SunSport revealed.
Now Kent has made it clear he is determined to remain in Glasgow and try to halt Celtic’s quest for ten in a row.
Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is not ready to give up the fight for the 23-year-old winger and is prepared to increase his offer to £14m.
Gerrard has already stated the decision to sell Kent could be taken out of his hands if the bidding soars.

But the Gers manager has been reassured by the attacker’s commitment and desire not to agitate for a move back south.

Kent fought to force through his £7m switch from Liverpool last year and is keen to stay at Ibrox so he can pay back the Anfield legend for the faith shown in him.
SunSport understands Kent is furious at one online report south of  the border which claimed he was desperate to leave the Premiership for England’s top flight.
Leeds gaffer Bielsa is unwilling to give up the fight for a player he  rates highly.

However, Gerrard is now more confident of keeping the winger, who has been Gers’ best player so far this season.
He is pulling out all  the stops to make sure Kent stays — although Rangers are understood to be more willing to sanction a quick sale for Alfredo Morelos.

They could even offload the Colombian striker before the international break, which follows this weekend’s round of Premiership fixtures.
Lille have already had four offers rejected for Morelos, who was bombed from the squad to face Kilmarnock on Saturday after falling foul of Gerrard in the build-up to the game.
Morelos is unlikely to kick another ball for the Ibrox side and Gerrard feels it would be best for all parties if his departure can be sealed quickly.
Lille remain interested and their chairman Gerard Lopez admitted he wants all  their transfer business concluded as soon as possible.

Aston Villa plot £30m transfer bid for Celtic hotshot Odsonne Edouard to bolster attack

ASTON VILLA are to test Celtic with a £30million bid for French goal machine Odsonne Edouard.
Villa plan to spend big and have several targets but the forward, 22, is their priority.

Boss Dean Smith is also keen on Ollie Watkins and Said Benrahma from his old club Brentford.
But he first wants to find out if Edouard can be snatched from the Scottish champions after bagging 28 goals last season.
Arsenal may drop out of the race to leave the door open for the Midlanders.
Crystal Palace and Leicester are also in the hunt.

Edouard has not shown any sign of being interested in a move to a ‘lesser’ English club but Villa have cash to tempt him with a major contract.

Their financial power is also giving them a chance in the Watkins and Benrahma races.
Meanwhile Blackburn are snapping up young Hoops striker Connor McBride.
Scotland youth cap McBride, 19, thinks he will have a better chance of progress in England.
