Ex-Hibs keeper John Burridge claims he had poo ‘running down my face’ after Hearts fan ‘s***’ in his bike helmet

FORMER Hibernian goalkeeper John Burridge has revealed that a Hearts fan once left him a dirty present in his motorbike helmet.
The 69-year-old – who played for the Scottish outfit between 1991-1993 – claimed the incident left him with poo running down his face.

Burridge has stated he travelled to Hibernian by getting the train from his home in Durham to Edinburgh Waverley every day.
He would then make his way to the club’s training ground by using a motorbike he kept at the railway station.
And Burridge – who helped Hibs win the League Cup against Dunfermline in his first year at Easter Road – has lifted the lid on one incident that scarred him.
Speaking on the latest episode of the Edinburgh Football Show, he said: “I had a little 250cc.

“And what I did was get the train and an hour and 20 minutes later I am in Waverley [because] I had to get to Wardie training ground.
“I was rushing one day and put my helmet on and as I got to the traffic lights I thought ‘what the hell is that?’
“And brown [stuff] started coming down my face – somebody had s*** in my flipping helmet.
“I got to Wardie and there was a big flipping turd on my flipping head. I thought you dirty Scottish b*******, you know.

Burridge won the League Cup at both Aston Villa and HibernianCredit: PA:Press Association

“It must have been a bloody Hearts fan because a Hibs lad wouldn’t have done that.
“I always took my helmet home after that and I didn’t leave it at Waverley ever again.”
Burridge – who played for 29 clubs during his lengthy career – famously wore a Superman costume for Wolves against Newcastle in 1982 following a bet he made with Kevin Keegan.

Raging Celtic fans brand team ‘s****bags’ as bus leaves Parkhead after disastrous St Johnstone draw

FURIOUS Celtic fans branded the team ‘s****bags’ as their bus left Parkhead following their disastrous draw with St Johnstone.
The pressure was already firmly on Neil Lennon ahead of kick-off with Rangers hammering Ross County in the Highlands earlier in the day.

Thousands of supporters turned up to make their voices heard last week following their shock Betfred Cup exit.
And a number were back at the stadium today following the latest poor result in a run that now sees the Scottish champions with just two wins from 12 games.

Large police presence at Celtic Park to keep order at stadium
Video footage shows a large number of angry fans hurling abuse as the team bus departed Parkhead.
Shouts of ‘f***ing s****bags’ could be heard as the crowd vented their anger at falling further behind Rangers in the race for the Premiership title.

Fans also chanted ‘sack the board’ as they made their feelings known to the Parkhead hierarchy.
A large line of police also escorted supporters away from the ground as they look to avoid a repeat of the shocking scenes from last week.
The fans’ frustrations weren’t the only ones boiling over with boss Lennon taking issue with questions over his future in his post-match interview with the BBC.

His position is under severe threat after falling 13 points behind runaway leaders Rangers at the top of the table.

Chris Kane grabbed the opening goal of the game for St Johnstone before Moi Elyounoussi levelled with his first touch of the ball to rescue a point.
Lennon insists he can still turn the season around but was unhappy with BBC reporter Kheredine Idessane’s ‘negative questions’ following the 1-1 draw.

Ross County 0 Rangers 4: Roofe, Tavernier and Defoe goals send Steven Gerrard’s 14 points clear of Celtic

STEVEN GERRARD hinted at changes for Rangers with a busy spell ahead.
And one thing not changing was their remarkable form – or Jermain Defoe getting on the scoresheet.

Defoe made his 800th appearance of his career and put the icing on the cake in stoppage time.
The visitors head to Lech Poznan on Thursday knowing they’ve already qualified for the last 32.
But for now they wait to see what response Celtic have against St Johnstone this afternoon as they go 14 POINTS clear with the 4-0 win.
It was a sticky opening quarter to the game with neither side threatening.

And it was the hosts who fashioned the first chance of the game after 25 minutes.
Iain Vigurs’ diagonal ball over the top found Harry Paton on the right.
He cut inside and sent a rasping left-footed shot on target which McGregor beat away.
That seemed to be the wake-up call that Rangers needed as they broke the deadlock two minutes later.

Steven Davis judged a defence-splitting pass to perfection inside the right channel that found James Tavernier and his low cross into the six-yard box was put in by a sliding Kemar Roofe.
Iain Vigurs picked up his customary booking booking just before the interval as he caught Morelos with a late slide tackle in the middle of the park.
In the aftermath, Gardyne quickly followed him into the book after something he said following the challenge.
Goldson and Kamara took an immediate dislike to what was said and Gerrard spoke with referee John Beaton on the way off the park.
Ryan Kent was quiet in the first half but was immediately involved at the start of the second.
His tricky run down the left resulted in a cross to Roofe who saw his downward header saved by Ross Laidlaw and Alfredo Morelos couldn’t score the rebound after a wonderful block from Callum Morris.
And Kent was involved in the second goal too. His low cross from the left was met by Roofe sliding in the six-yard box again and Josh Reid did superbly well to block the shot.

Steven Gerrard’s side are now miles clear of Celtic in the tableCredit: PA:Press Association
However, Tavernier was following in right behind Roofe and the ball bounced off the Rangers skipper and into the net.
County had their big chance to become only the third side to score against Rangers in the Premiership this season.
Midway through the second half, Reid’s delivery into the box was flicked on by Stewart at the front post and Connor Randall – on at half time for Keith Watson – blasted well over the bar from three yards with the goal at his mercy.
Tavernier looked for his second of the game with a volley from the right-hand side of the box but it went well-wide.
He did get his usual assist not long after though when sent clear down the right by Goldson.
Morelos was free in the centre of the box to roll home into an empty net, but Morris slid in in front of the Colombian and diverted into his own goal.
Gerrard then made a quadruple sub with just over a quarter of an hour to play, switching the entire front three for Cedric Itten, Ianis Hagi and Defoe.
Hagi tried his luck from wide on the right from a free-kick but Laidlaw parried over from underneath his crossbar.
Then Defoe got his goal in injury time, spinning on the edge of the six-yard box from an Itten pass and rolling it into the net.

Pair of strikers BOTH called Garry Thomson score hat-tricks in same Scottish game believed to be world first

A PAIR of strikers with the same name both scored a hat-trick in Scotland in what is believed to be a world first.
Garry Thomson and his namesake – Garry Thomson – netted three times apiece for Thornton Hibs in a 6-2 victory for their side.

Garry and Garry Thomson made history last Saturday

The team mates – cousins from Fife now dubbed “The Thomson Twins” – put their club into the sporting history books in their game against Edinburgh rivals Craigroyston last Saturday.
It’s believed to be the first time two players with the same name both scored a hat-trick for the same team in the same match.
Not only did 30-year-old club stalwart Garry Sr net a hat-trick, his younger cousin and fellow striker, Garry Jr, 24, also scored three goals to give the East of Scotland League side an unlikely claim to fame.
The pair, now dubbed the “Thomson Twins” by team-mates, did not realise the significance of the result until after the final whistle.

Garry Sr, a production technician at Fife-based drinks giant Diageo, said: “We were both delighted to have bagged a hat-trick each but had not really given it another thought until teammates started ribbing us about it in the changing room.
“Even though that’s now my 13th hat-trick in the 10 years I’ve been at the club, this is certainly the one that’ll be remembered.”
While Garry Sr is well accustomed to scoring goals, for Garry Jr, a labourer for East Fife Joinery in Leven, the achievement was all the sweeter as it was the first time he had netted three in a match.
“It was just brilliant and family, friends and team-mates have been joking about it since,” he said.

    The pair are cousins

    The ‘Thomson Twins’ in training
Thornton Hibs manager Craig Gilbert said it is the first time he has ever heard of such a thing happening in a match, be it professional or amateur.
“It has to be unique and I’m delighted for the pair, who are great lads, to have created a little bit of history,” he said.
“I even managed to pull the referee’s leg after the final whistle too with me insisting Garry Thomson had scored all six goals,” he joked.

Now the dust has settled on the achievement, the pair have a new battle on their hands to decide who will get to keep the souvenir match ball.
“Maybe, we’ll have to flip a coin at the end of the season awards, who knows,” said Craig.
“At least they are from the same family, maybe they can take turns.”

Angry punters called for Neil Lennon to be sacked in the wake of the 2-0 defeat which ended Celts’ 35-game unbeaten domestic cup run.
Lennon is under severe pressure with his side out of Europe and trailing Rangers by 11 points in the title race.
And fans have made it clear they want change by protesting at Parkhead.
But with Glasgow currently in Tier 4 lockdown, Rangers legend McCoist furiously hit out at those who ignored strict Scottish Government guidelines – labelling them an ’embarrassment to the country’.

He said: “There were outrageous scenes after the game.
“They’re not supporters, I nearly called them supporters, that’s exactly the one thing they are not.
“They completely embarrassed themselves with some of their behaviour, throwing fences at police vehicles.
“Listen, these weren’t Celtic supporters, they were just nutcases, idiots, an embarrassment to the country never mind anything else.

“I couldn’t believe the arrogance – who do they think they are? Celtic went on a domestic run where they won nine, ten, 11 trophies in a row and they get out and react like that?
“I don’t think I’ve seen anything like that in this country to tell you the truth, you sometimes see it when it’s Turkey and Italy.
“It was absolutely shocking, an embarrassment, they really were, it goes without saying we can do without that.”
Celtic pledged to fully investigate the violent scenes that took place on Sunday night.
The club claim players and staff were targeted by missiles during a police escort away from the ground.
Two cops suffered minor injuries amid the chaotic events, while Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf blasted the ‘disgraceful’ yobs responsible.
McCoist added: “The first thing they were doing was breaking the social distancing rules.
“Not a lot shocks you nowadays. If you’re not watching it live, you’re seeing it within a minute.

“I don’t think anyone would touch the Celtic job with a a barge pole.
“I’d let Neil Lennon finish the season, he can turn it around.”

Celtic slam fans after players and coaches targeted by MISSILES while escorted from Parkhead

CELTIC will fully investigate the violent scenes that took place at Parkhead on Sunday evening after claiming players and staff were targeted by MISSILES while being escorted from the stadium.
The Hoops required a police escort from Celtic Park following their Betfred Cup exit to Ross County with the club describing the scenes as ‘unacceptable’.

The Parkhead club stated that while only a small number of people were involved, it cannot be condoned in any way as they slammed the actions of the individuals.
A club statement read: “Everyone at the club is hugely disappointed by this afternoon’s result, one which has ended our phenomenal run of 35 consecutive cup victories.
“While we sincerely share the huge disappointment of all Celtic supporters, there can be no excuse for some of the violent scenes at Celtic Park this evening. The club will be investigating these events fully.
“For players and a management team, who have given so much in recent years and have delivered 11 consecutive trophies, to require an escort from Celtic Park while being targeted with missiles, is simply unacceptable.

“While we understand that only a small number of people were involved in this behaviour, some of the actions this evening, which have obviously left our own players shaken, cannot be condoned in any way.”
Thousands of Celtic fans gathered at Parkhead to call for Neil Lennon to be sacked after another shock defeat.
Ross Stewart and Alex Iacovitti scored the goals as Ross County ended a run of 35 cup wins in a row for the Hoops and ended their stranglehold on Scottish silverware.
Pictures and video footage emerged on social media of supporters outside Celtic Park making their feelings clear following the latest loss.

Two cops suffered minor injuries amid the chaotic scenes, while Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf blasted the ‘disgraceful’ yobs responsible.
He tweeted: “Utterly disgraceful scenes outside of Celtic Park from a minority of fans tonight with violence aimed towards police.
“Officers have been front and centre keeping us safe during this pandemic, to treat them this way at any time is shameful, to do it during these times is disgrace.”

Meanwhile, Ally McCoist has blasted Celtic fans for breaking social distancing rules.
Glasgow is currently in Tier 4 lockdown and the Rangers legend hit out at supporters who have ignored strict Scottish Government guidelines.
Asked if fans are right to protest, he told Premier Sports: “Well clearly not if they are breaking social distancing.
“Listen, I totally understand the fans’ frustration, of course.
“But at the same time, if they are breaking rules and you start breaking laws, then you are overstepping the mark.
“I will always stick up for the fans in terms of they must voice their opinion and they are entitled to voice their opinion as long as they do it in the right way.
“If they are doing it in the wrong way tonight at Celtic Park then it shouldn’t be allowed.”

The Celts have crashed out of the Betfred Cup in the last-16… a trophy they have won in the past four seasons.
It spells the end of the club’s domestic dominance as their 35-game cup winning streak was stopped.
And thousands of Hoops fans now believe it should spell the end of Lennon’s second tenure as manager.
Pictures and video footage on social media has emerged of supporters outside of Celtic Park to make their feelings clear.

The raucous crowd chanted “Lennon out” and “sack the board”.
Masked fans erupted into chaos and tried to push down large barriers erected by police to protect the manager and his team as they made their way to the car park.
Dozens of officers stood around the crowd in a bid to keep them contained and under control.

One thug was heard yelling at a BBC cameraman, “If you pick up that camera, you’re getting slashed”.
This of course breaks coronavirus Tier 4 guidelines, which Glasgow City Council and its surrounding areas comes under.
It is understood that a police helicopter flying around Parkhead and roughly 30 police vans are present to deal with the crowds.
Diehard fan Karen Cunningham, 45, said: “We’re all disgusted Neil Lennon has been left this long, action should have been taken a couple of weeks ago.
“Surely it’s time for the board to sack him, if he’s not willing to leave.”
The mum of two added: “He was brought on as the easy option, the cheapest option. I hope I wake up in the morning and it has been announced.
“The players should still be performing. I definitely think he’s lost the dressing room.
“People keep blaming the players but the buck lies with Neil Lennon.”
Lennon could hear the shouts as he walked into his post-match media conference and said: “It doesn’t make me feel good obviously. We are not in a good moment.
“The game is a small microcosm of the run we are on: penalty and set-play. We have given the opposition free hits.
“We dominated the game and lacked a bit of quality in the final third.”
Alison Conroy of Radio Clyde has reported that the media at today’s match were evacuated from the ground.
Rangers legend Ally McCoist has slammed the fans for flouting the Scottish Government’s covid laws.

Footballers’ surprising jobs, from Chelsea star Gilmour modelling for Burberry to Bowyer’s carp fishing business

EARLIER this year, former Manchester City right-back Shay Logan revealed that he’s secretly been training to become a plumber.
The Aberdeen ace, 32, told how he doesn’t earn enough cash from football to be set up for life so is planning ahead for after retirement.

Logan revealed: “We earn good money. But at this level are we really going to earn money that will last us a long time, for life? No.
“I always said to myself that when I get to a certain age I want to start doing something else.
“I love football but I don’t love it enough to go into coaching and stuff like that.
“I thought you know what, I’m going to do a trade. It was either go into gas, electrician or plumbing. Plumbing and gas come together, it’s the same course.”

And the English defender is far from being the only player who’s had a second profession they can fall back on.
Throughout the years plenty of stars have found extra ways to line their pockets besides taking to the pitch – with some taking on second jobs or planning ahead for post-retirement like Logan.
    BILLY GILMOUR

CHELSEA star Billy Gilmour could be set for a glittering career in the game after he made his Premier League debut at the start of this season.
The midfielder, 19, made his first league appearance for the Blues in August after coming on as a substitute – and then starred in the FA Cup win over Liverpool.

But in 2017 the Scots ace, then aged just 16, was snapped up by luxury clothing brand Burberry for a fashion campaign.
The ex-Rangers star was pictured modelling a coat on the company’s Instagram page.
Former Ibrox team-mate Martyn Waghorn was seemingly impressed – commenting, “Love that mate”, on his post.
    LEE BOWYER

Lee Bowyer’s fishing skills saw him open a carp fishing business in FranceCredit: News Group Newspapers Ltd
FORMER Leeds, Newcastle and Birmingham midfielder Bowyer was never scared of a tackle.
And it turns out that he was doing it every day even during his career, with his fishing obsession.
Bowyer, now in charge of Charlton, runs a carp fishing business in France after working on his skills while still playing football at the highest level.
The hardman explained: “I suddenly found myself with an abundance of time on my hands [after retiring].
“Having always been an active person it was obvious that I now needed to find something else to occupy myself with as I moved into this new chapter of my life.”
    STUART ARMSTRONG

SOUTHAMPTON star Stuart Armstrong has become a mainstay on the south coast side since moving to the Premier League in 2018.
Prior to that, the midfielder was a key player in Brendan Rodgers’ treble winning Celtic sides.
And years back he revealed he was studying for a law degree at the Open University.
Former team-mate and ex-Livingston star Mark Millar said Armstrong was a role model for younger kids starting out in the game.
It came as he advised teen hopefuls to plan ahead for careers once they hang up their boots.

THE former Arsenal ace grew sick and tired of humanity’s addiction to Flamin’ fossil fuels.
So he attempted to come up with an alternative during his time in Italy.
The ex-Crystal Palace ace, most-recently at La Liga side Getafe, began the project while at AC Milan and funded a load of research into levulinic acid.
Flamini told SunSport: “We financed the research by Milan Polytechnic.
“After several months we came up with the technology of how to produce ‘LA’ on an industrial scale, meaning cheaply and cost-effectively. We patented it.”

And Kenny was affectionately known by fans as Doctor Goals, due to the fact that he is a qualified medical professional.
The striker, who also had spells with Falkirk, St Johnstone and Livingston, was branded The Good Doctor by Sky Sports host Jeff Stelling.

EX-ST JOHNSTONE star Chris Millar has put his fitness on the field to good use by working as a personal trainer in his spare time.
The Morton ace revealed in 2018 he had picked up his Level 3 personal training certificate.
And he regularly shares pictures of his clients’ success stories on Instagram.
The veteran midfielder is now aged 37 and may be nearing the end of his playing career – but it looks like he’ll have no problem finding work once he retires.

BAUER isn’t the first Celtic star with a fondness for living the high life.
Norwegian striker Harald Brattbakk played for the Hoops from 1997 to 1999.
It wasn’t all plain sailing for the striker during his time in Glasgow – but he famously scored the clinching goal that helped the Hoops deny Rangers ten-in-a-row.
We told in 2012 how the ex-Rosenborg hitman was ferrying passengers all over the world for one of Norway’s biggest airlines.
He said: “I work for the biggest airline in Norway. Some Celtic supporters knocked on the cockpit door to speak to me.”
The committed pilot moved his family to Florida and spent £80k in order to qualify.
A man of many talents, Brattbakk was also an accountant before his move to Celtic Park.

HEARTS stars were plunged into uncertainty back in 2011 when a wage row left them without pay for two months.
But ex-Rangers ace Ian Black took to earning money on the side by working as a part-time painter and decorator.
The midfielder helped out a tradesman pal in Edinburgh to ensure he could buy a Christmas present for his daughter.

A source told SunSport at the time: “Because the players are not getting paid, it got to the stage where Ian’s now started working for his mate.
“He owns a painting and decorating business and Ian was out doing hard graft on Monday on his day off.
“He is looking at the possibility of working twice a week for him in the run up to Christmas.
“He said to the gaffer last week he might have to work on a Monday and Tuesday because he has to put food on the table for his kid.”
