Rangers legend Paul Gascoigne makes shock appearance in club’s Xmas ad – but he’s left shaking his head at current stars

RANGERS icon Paul Gascoigne has made a shock appearance in the Ibrox club’s Christmas advert this year. But the Light Blues hero was left shaking his head come the end of the fun festive video.
Gazza’s appearance is a hit with fans
The club legend joined current stars for Christmas dinner
The Gers posted the clip on X.com, formerly known as Twitter, to mark the countdown to Christmas and to advertise the various gifts available on the club’s website.
The video titled ‘This Christmas It’s Rangers All The Way’ features a host of current stars from the first team, including skipper James Tavernier, goalkeeper Jack Butland, Todd Cantwell, Nicolas Raskin Rabbi Matondo and Kemar Roofe.
Club stalwarts from the past also make an appearance, such as former captain Barry Ferguson, John Brown, Kenny Miller and Marvin Andrews.
The 1 minute-and-35-seconds-long piece centres on Ibrox faces old and new preparing to sit down for Christmas dinner, with Brown and Ferguson even hilariously vying for a seat at the top of the table by debating who had the better career at the club.

But the biggest surprise for supporters – and for those around the dinner table – was the arrival of former England star Gascoigne, who came bearing gifts before grabbing himself a seat.
Gascoigne was a nine-in-a-hero for Gers fans in the mid 1990s and his appearances back at Ibrox always go down well with the Light Blues faithful.
But despite his iconic status at the club, Gazza was made to WASH THE DISHES as the video concludes with the former England star looking rather displeased with the rest of the Rangers contingent.
The ad has gone down well with supporters online.

Writing about the video on social media, one fan wrote: “That is class! Well done to all that made it best Christmas advert this year.”
Speaking about Gascoigne’s shock inclusion, another added: “No joke, that actually was a lovely surprise, definitely made me smile. Love it.”
A third punter replied: “Simply beautiful Mr Rangers. Getting Gazza involved was a touch of class.”
He wasn’t happy with being left to clean up

My dad’s one of Celtic’s greatest ever players but I’ve got a totally different career and have represented my country

HER dad was one of Celtic’s greatest ever players and enjoyed a glittering football career playing for some of Europe’s biggest clubs. Her brother followed in his footsteps and is continuing his legacy in the game, adding several international caps to the already impressive tally his father received during his playing days.
She has represented her country on several occasions
The professional horse rider has won 11 competitions so far in her career
Janelle with one of her horses in 2021
She is the son of legendary Celtic striker Henrik Larsson
But Janelle Larsson, 21, has opted for a very different career path and is representing her family name in another sport altogether.
Born in Scotland in 2002 – midway through her father’s stint at Parkhead – Janelle left Glasgow two years later when her family moved to Spain following Henrik’s stunning move to Barcelona.
That’s where he cemented himself as one of Sweden’s all-time greats as he joined the elite list of players to lift the Champions League.
Henrik scored 242 goals for Celtic and was capped 106 times by Sweden – representing his country at five major tournaments.

He lifted eight trophies during his seven-year stint with the Hoops, but the pinnacle of his career came at the age of 34 when he provided two assists off the bench to help Barcelona beat Arsenal in that iconic final in 2006.
His son Jordan has enjoyed a successful football career to date so far too, having played for the likes of Helsingborgs, Spartak Moscow and Schalke.
Currently at Copenhagen, the 26-year-old still has a long way to go before he can ever compare himself to his father.
But he can be proud to say he’s continued his family’s legacy by wearing his nation’s colours, with seven senior caps already to his name.

So it’s hardly a surprise to see the Larsson name represented elsewhere in Swedish sport.
Janelle is a professional horse rider who has been in the show-jumping circuit for several years since entering her first competition in 2014.
She has taken to the grass in hundreds of events, ranging from Grand Prixes to Nation Cups and Championships.
Janelle has yet to win a Grand Prix or a Championship, however, the 21-year-old has won 11 tournaments so far – one team event and 10 individual competitions.
She currently sits 2068th in the Longines world rankings, but was as high as 742nd last year after winning gold medals with her horses Bollinger and Kingston 43 in June and October respectively.
It’s only the beginning for Janelle though given her young age, and she is regarded one of the nation’s biggest prospects in the sport.
She is currently being trained by experienced Swedish rider Angelica Augustsson Zanotelli after moving to Belgium three years ago to improve her skills.

Inside Jason Cummings’ glamorous life with Wag as superstar player in India – from cup glory to paradise beaches

FROM the Firth of Forth to the Bay of Bengal. It’s a road less-travelled, but the one that Jason Cummings has truly lapped up ever since his acrimonious exit from Scottish football.

The former Hibs and Rangers striker left Dundee under a cloud of controversy after he was sent home from training following a surprise guest appearance at an Open Goal Live event in December 2021.
He subsequently joined Central Coast Mariners in Australia and has never looked back.
He found form Down Under and even won himself a call-up to the Australian national team (whom he qualifies for through his mother) and represented the Socceroos at the World Cup in Qatar.
It all culminated in tears – happy ones – as he won the league with Mariners and planted a kiss on his partner in the crowd after more heroics in the A-League Grand Final.

Since then, the 28-year-old has moved to India with other half Hannah Doig, and he is now the best-paid player in the Indian Super League.
He was slammed for being unfit on his debut for new club Mohun Bagan Super Giant but has racked up an impressive eight goals in 13 games now that he’s up and running in West Bengal.
In between, he and Hannah have enjoyed exploring what Australia and India have to offer, not to mention a few tourist hot spots in between.

Cummings hasn’t been called up to the current Australia squad, though ex-Hibs team mate Martin Boyle does make it in for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Bangladesh and Palestine.
Boyle’s fellow Hibs star Lewis Miller has also been included, alongside Hearts star Kye Rowles, St Mirren’s Keanu Baccus and Ryan Strain and former Celtic and Ross County midfielder Jackson Irvine.

He joined Liel Abada, Reo Hatate and Maik Nawrocki who also remain out for Brendan Rodgers’ side.
But things have gone from bad to worse for the Hoops as Kyogo picked up a bad head injury in their clash with Aberdeen.
A challenge through the back of the Celtic talisman’s head from Slobodan Rubezic knocked the Japanese striker unconscious mid air before he hit the floor.
He regained consciousness but was forced off as Rodgers made a speedy substitute to bring Oh on.

The referee deemed a yellow card enough for the challenge and Rubezic remained on the field as his team looked to get back into the game from 2-0 down.
Kyogo will be a big miss for Celtic as the games ramp up after the international break.
The forward has seven goals and two assists so far in 17 appearances this season.
And Rodgers revealed after the game that his star striker would stay in Glasgow over the next fortnight rather than travel for international duty with Japan.
    Most read in Football
The Celtic boss told Sky Sports: “It wasn’t great for him.
“It’s a nasty blow for him so he’ll obviously not travel to Japan, he’ll need to stay here and recover.
“The medical team will just make sure he’s okay.
“I haven’t seen it back. I was only looking at match time.
“But, yeah, it looked a really sore one.”
Meanwhile, an ex-SPFL referee has been left bemused after VAR’s failure to intervene after a big penalty call in Rangers’ win over Livingston.
And he thinks the failure to do so will only increase calls to get RID of the new technology.
Ross McCausland has been accused of CHEATING to win a first-half spot-kick at the Tony Macaroni Arena.
Former Category 1 referees Steve Conroy and Des Roache were surprised that there was no review recommended from VAR after Steven McLean pointed to the spot.
Livi keeper Shamal George challenged Ross McCausland who went down inside the box.

‘You need to appease clubs’ – Scots Fifa referee who moved to England stunned whistlers turn ‘blind eye’ to simulation

BOBBY MADDEN has lifted the lid on the power English clubs hold over referees. The former Fifa whistler retired in the summer after a season taking charge of games down south.
Bobby Madden quit the game in Scotland to go and further his career in EnglandCredit: Kenny Ramsay
Madden had achieved all he’d set out to as an official in Scotland and wanted a fresh challenge in EFL League One.
But he hung up his whistle for several reasons, including being stunned at how the observer marking system is weighted in the clubs’ favour.
Madden, 45, said: “There were challenges and a different mentality in how they manage situations from an FA and PGMOL point of view.
“The clubs pay them, so they have control over officials.

“One of the frustrations which didn’t affect me directly is the clubs have 40 per cent of the mark that’s given to a referee.
“Essentially you need to appease the clubs to get on, so anyone going into that system needs to referee with that in mind.
“It’s difficult when you’ve refereed to a level with an observer system then you have a club system like that. It’s difficult for the referees.
“There were good referees in League One and Two, but would they turn a blind eye to obvious simulation or clear dissent or foul or abusive language? I saw it happen.
    Most read in Football
“I think that’s one of the challenges they have.
“Each club has 20 per cent of their mark.
“In Scotland it’s one observer and you receive one mark and it’s the same with Uefa.
“In England the assessor only has 20 per cent. They also go to a panel and review it, so it was a new system.
“The clubs and players and managers know they are marking you.
“I’ve heard comments like, ‘Just remember who’s marking you’. The clubs know they have that power.
“It’s a challenging environment for referees coming through.
“I didn’t change my tactics, though. I just managed games the way I always have.
“I was probably known for not showing that many yellow cards and I tried to follow that, but it’s probably a more difficult arena to do that in.”
Madden was also disappointed by the quality of the game down south, despite its bold claims, and the lack of respect shown by players towards officials compared to Scotland.
He said: “In England the football and the teams are very well organised. The surfaces and facilities are good.
“But I was disappointed with the football.
“League One there compares to the bottom three or four in our Premiership and League Two compares to the Championship.
“But England are very good at marketing their leagues, so people believe it’s high level.
“Of course it’s very well organised, but the level of football probably wasn’t what I expected.
“I was still fortunate to referee some decent games in League One.
“In Scotland teams play against each other four times a season or whatever, so there’s a lot of repetition and it’s the same with referees.
“You’ll referee each team five or six times a year. Take that over ten years and you are in a lot of contact with the same people so you build up a relationship.
“They might not agree with your decisions and players will use foul language and I’ll use the same type back.
“In England that level of respect isn’t there because of their approach, but it was maybe because I was a new face that they didn’t know.
“They’re also in that arena where they’re very well paid, they have a fantastic environment and there’s maybe a degree of entitlement.
“I did find a lot of players difficult to deal with and they didn’t like to be challenged.

“In Scotland I liked the banter and to give a bit back and have that relationship.”

Ex-Rangers star joins sixth-tier side just a week after club statement revealing money troubles

KYLE HUTTON once mixed it with the likes of Paul Scholes and Ryan Giggs in the Champions League. And he’s still going strong at the age of 32, even if he’s now dropped down the divisions.
Kyle Hutton shields the ball from Paul Scholes
Kyle Hutton locks horns with David Goodwillie
    How Darvel announced the news
The midfielder has a new club today after agreeing a loan deal from West of Scotland Premier Division side Pollok.
He’s moved to another club in the division in the form of last year’s Scottish Cup giant killers Darvel.
After the huge highs of the epic cup win over Aberdeen, Darvel released a statement recently to explain that they would be making a deficit and were cutting cloths accordingly.
But they clearly feel that the loan signing of Hutton can be an important step within their budget.

They wrote in a statement: “We can confirm that we have signed midfielder Kyle Hutton on loan from @pollokfc for the remainder of the 23/24 season.
“Kyle brings a wealth of experience playing at a high level and we can’t wait to see him show what he can do in a Darvel shirt this campaign.”
Hutton broke into the Gers first team as a teenager under Walter Smith, making his debut that August against Kilmarnock and helping the Ibrox club win the league title and League Cup.
He got a surprise start in the Champions League against Manchester United that season, and stuck around when Rangers dropped down the divisions.

He made 72 appearances in total before he was released in 2015 and has since played for the likes of Queen of the South, St Mirren, Dumbarton, East Kilbride and Cowdenbeath.
After a year at Forfar, he headed down the divisions again to sign for sixth tier club Pollok before being made available for transfer.
Outwith of football, Hutton these days works for Siemens Mobility, a company that aims to transform rail travel in Scotland.
And explaining his role, he told Siemens Mobility on LinkedIn: “I’m a site coordinator at Siemens.
“I’ll sort of send out reports for works that have been done that night and make sure all of the guys got off site safely.”
A Darvel statement had hinted at major changes ahead, reading: “Over the coming months there will be a degree of change within the current playing squad which is still to be decided jointly between Club/Management Team, so we ask that fans are supportive of the proposed measures, for better days ahead.”
