Watch UFC legend Conor McGregor destroy former featherweight boxing champ Patrick Hyland in the Octagon

ANY boxer planning to try their hand at MMA may want to think twice following throwback footage of Conor McGregor sparring Patrick Hyland.Hyland is no stranger to a scrap after being crowned the boxing WBF featherweight champion in 2011.

    [embedded content]

Conor McGregor, in red, destroyed Hyland in the Octagon
The UFC star showed no mercy on the former boxing champ
McGregor, right, caught Hyland with a few jabs
But he looked a fish out of water after stepping inside the cage to take on the Notorious as his Straight Blast Gym in Dublin.
With the pair padded up, McGregor instantly went straight for the body and took Hyland down to the canvas.
The 38-year-old fellow Irishman knew he was in instant trouble and can be heard shouting: “What do I do? I don’t know what to do.”
McGregor, who has not fought since suffering a horrific injury in his defeat to Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, remains in total control of their session and even takes it easy on his opponent.
Hyland showed glimpses of the fighter he once was by throwing a couple of testing jabs but nothing to trouble the former UFC featherweight and lightweight champ.
McGregor even managed to laugh at the boxer when Hyland attempted a takedown of his own.
The footage was leaked online by the 33-year-old’s head coach John Kavanagh but Hyland appeared to take the beating in good spirits.
The same can’t be said about McGregor’s former sparring partner Paulie Malignaggi who had a major fallout with the Notorious over a leaked sparring video in 2017.

Ricky Hatton’s ‘f****** expensive’ holiday to Mykonos in 2019 saw him eat £835 steak and call girlfriend Robocop

WHEN boxing legends do holidays, they look a little bit like this.Back in 2019, SunSport columnist Ricky Hatton, now 43, lapped up the sun in Mykonos, sharing his hilarious adventures on Instagram.
Ricky Hatton enjoyed the holiday of a lifetime in Mykonos with no expense sparedCredit: Instagram @rickyhitmanhatton
Hatton wined and dined ex-girlfriend Charlie on the Greek islandCredit: Instagram @rickyhitmanhatton
And the ‘Hitman’, who is reportedly worth £31m, was happy to part with some serious cash – in what he described a ‘f****** expensive’ holiday – to wine and dine ex-girlfriend Charlie (He cruelly nicknamed The Fun Police) on the stunning Greek island.
From chowing down on £820 steaks to staying at a £350-per-night luxury villa, no expense was spared.
And he even got away with comparing his missus to Robocop… maybe that’s why they broke up?
    HIS DIGS
Hatton and Charlie stayed at the exclusive five-star AGL Luxury Villas, where homes come with a fully-equipped kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, flat-screen TVs and private swimming pools.
Most of the properties come with a terrace and a sea view, while guests can take advantage of barbecuing facilities too.
With the airport only three miles away, and AGL Luxury Villas being close to the centre, it’s the perfect spot to see the island in all its glory.
But staying here doesn’t come cheap. Prices to live like a king start at around £350-per-night.

    POSH NOSH
It’s no secret the former boxing champ loves his food – often eating out at the finest eateries.
In Mykonos he really pushed out the boat, polishing off grub at flashy restaurants like meat-eaters spots Nammos and Scorpios, and chomping on healthy sushi at Tokyo Joe’s.
It was the morning after dining at Nammos though that Hatton admitted waking up in a “puddle of f****** tears” when he discovered his restaurant bill.
Managing to rack up a charge of £1,750 for a meal-for-two, that included a bottle of champagne for £450, as well as a bottle of prosecco for £120, he could’ve been left with an awful hangover.
But Hatton made sure his stomach was lined with a hearty kobe ribeye steak that set him back £820.
Afterwards, he posted before and after snaps of him demolishing his dinner, as well as a snap of his huge bill.
“Just woke up this morning in a puddle of f****** tears,” he captioned the picture.

“That’s what you get for being a fat greedy little s***.”
He later added: “I just ordered it. Didn’t look. Ha ha.
“The bill came and the fun police just started laughing. Wow.”
    DRINK
Before he landed in Mykonos, Hatton was in Tenerife on holiday with estranged parents Ray and Carol and was caught on video stumbling around an Irish pub.
The former light-welterweight and welterweight world champion flashed his belly and danced along to Lionel Richie’s 1983 hit All Night Long during the festivities.
However, on this trip with The Fun Police, he was a little bit more reserved, aside from that whopping Nammos bar bill that also included around £120-worth of Hendricks gin.
But they did enjoy a cocktail at the 180 Degrees Sunset Bar, that offers unparalleled views of the island when the sun goes down.

How Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury could be worth an amazing £150m to make it fifth richest fight in boxing history

ANTHONY JOSHUA’S all-British heavyweight showdown with Tyson Fury could become the fifth-richest fight in boxing history, if it happens. The much-anticipated bout would be the most lucrative fight EVER to not feature Floyd Mayweather.
The fight would be the most lucrative ever to not feature Floyd Mayweather
It is expected that the battle would earn as much as £150million, taking into account the purse, pay-per-view purchases, gate receipts and sponsors.
British fans will be desperate for the historic event to take place on home soil… but Eddie Hearn admitted in the past that could mean the fighters would have to accept 50 per cent less than they could get in Saudi Arabia.
Hearn secured a site fee of over £30m for AJ’s Diriyah rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr in December 2019, and could expect to get much more for a bout with the Gypsy King.
We’re in a good place. It’s fair to say that, in principle, both guys have agreed to that fight. Two fights.Eddie Hearn
Fury confirmed in June 2020 that he and Joshua had agreed a two-fight contract after much speculation.
He tweeted: “It’s official FURY VS JOSUAR AGREED FOR NEXT YEAR, I got to smash @bronzebomber first then I’ll annihilate @anthonyfjoshua #WEARESPARTANS”.
And, at the time, Hearn told Sky Sports: “We’ve been talking to [Fury’s management team] MTK, giving them the assurances from Joshua’s side that all the details on the structure of the deal is approved from our side.
“And it is from Fury’s side, as well.
“We’re in a good place. It’s fair to say that, in principle, both guys have agreed to that fight. Two fights.
“There’s lot to overcome in the meantime. We’re moving in the right direction.
“I’m confident that both guys have giving their blessing for the fight to go ahead.”

However, AJ’s loss to Oleksandr Usyk threw a spanner in the works – making that rematch a priority first before any potential battle with Fury.
Fury’s second fight with Deontay Wilder was believed to have earned over £50m in US PPV sales alone.
And this era-defining bout would be expected to sell even more.
The Wythenshawe-born boxer has teased his retirement after disposing of Wilder in their trilogy bout.
But should an all-British heavyweight super clash go ahead, only fights featuring retired five-weight king Floyd Mayweather will have ever earned more.
The most lucrative earned an eye-watering £678m back in 2015, when the American finally faced Manny Pacquiao in Las Vegas.

The only fight to ever come close to that figure was his subsequent ten-round victory over MMA star Conor McGregor, which pocketed £662.5m.
Mayweather’s bouts with Oscar De La Hoya and Canelo Alvarez are the only other two in history that will have beaten that likely £150m AJ-Fury figure.
This will put it ahead of legendary fights such as Lennox Lewis vs Mike Tyson – and the latter’s 1997 rematch with Evander Holyfield.

Portugal legend Cristiano Ronaldo once refused to swap shirts with Robin Gosens and left Germany ace ‘feeling small’

CRISTIANO RONALDO once refused to swap shirts with Robin Gosens – leaving the Germany star ‘feeling small’.But Gosens, now 28, had the last laugh when he scored in the Germans’ 4-2 rout of Portugal – also taking home the Man of the Match award – at Euro 2020.
Robin Gosens revealed Cristiano Ronaldo rejected his request to swap shirts earlier in his career, with the German getting his revenge with a 4-2 Euro 2020 win over GermanyCredit: EPA

And this time he did not even ask the Man Utd star for his top.
He said back in 2020: “I didn’t ask Cristiano Ronaldo for his shirt because I want to take advantage of this victory and tonight.”
Ronaldo got Portugal off to a flyer by polishing off a rapid counter-attack.
But two own goals, a Kai Havertz strike and a cherry on top from Gosens meant Diogo Jota’s goal – from a Ronaldo assist – was mere consolation.
And for Gosens, he would have been doubly happy to have got the three points in the Group of Death
Earlier in his career, Gosens revealed he attempted to fulfil a lifelong dream of swapping shirts with his idol, Ronaldo, after he joined Serie A side Juventus in 2018 – only to be sent packing.
Writing in his biography Dreams Are Worthwhile, Gosens recalled: “After the game against Juventus, I tried to fulfil my dream of having Ronaldo’s jersey.
“After the final whistle I went to him, having not even gone public to celebrate.

    “But Ronaldo did not accept.
“I asked, ‘Cristiano, can I have your shirt?’
“He didn’t even look at me, he just said, ‘No!'”
“I was completely blushed and ashamed. I went away and felt small.
“You know that moment when something embarrassing happens and you look around to see if anyone noticed it?
“That’s what I felt and tried to hide it.”
But Gosens had nothing to hide after his amazing display against Portugal and said: “It’s certainly an unforgettable night for me.
“We beat a really strong team and got my first goal in this tournament, as well as an assist. I’m happy and proud.
“We knew we had to win today, if we lost it would be very difficult to qualify.
“We tried to give everything both attacking and defending, and I’m happy we won.”
Incredibly, Gosens has NEVER lost in the six matches he’s played against Ronaldo.
Atalanta have won one and drawn three of their four Serie A games against Juventus, also winning their 2019 Coppa Italia quarter-final, before Germany beat Portugal at the Euros.

Chelsea legend John Terry’s daughter ‘warned him POLAR BEARS roam Russian streets’ and stopped Spartak Moscow transfer

TRANSFER agent Marco Trabucchi has claimed that John Terry’s daughter warned him of POLAR BEARS roaming the streets in Russia as the Chelsea legend pondered moving to Spartak Moscow. In the summer of 2018, the England defender was given the chance to continue his career after a year at Championship side Aston Villa.
John Terry confirmed at the time that family reasons were behind his decision to stay in EnglandCredit: News Group Newspapers Ltd
Terry eventually turned down the £1.8million contract despite taking a medical in Rome.
At the time, he cited not wanting to move wife Toni and their two children when rejecting Moscow – and one curious incident has been revealed by Italian agent Trabucchi.
He told YouTube show Comment Stop, via RT: “The headteacher of the school called John.
“They said that his daughter was falling to the floor, roaring that dad was leaving for Moscow.
“[She was saying] there were polar bears walking down the street and he would never return.”
Taking to Instagram to announce his decision to snub Spartak, Terry stated he was ‘very impressed with their professionalism’ and ‘ambition’.
And the former Chelsea skipper even showed up in Moscow to take in a game, a month after rejecting the chance to play for them.
Soon after, he officially ended his playing career and joined the coaching staff at Villa.

And Trabucchi, who has previously worked with Spartak on several deals, admits that it was always something of a long shot to sign the centre-back.
He added: “We tried to convince Terry. I talked to him. He explained his decision. His priority was to stay with his family.
“He wanted to move but his family refused, so he stayed. We must respect his choice.
“Unfortunately our key central defender Gigot got injured. We don’t think it would be wise to sign a young player or someone not reliable enough.
“We were too much into this Terry thing. We thought we could convince him. It is all in the past now.”

Man Utd wonderkid Zidane Iqbal, 19, impressed aged 3, was subbed for being too good and could play for England

ZIDANE IQBAL is the new name on Manchester United fans’ lips. The talented attacking midfielder, 19, was superb against Liverpool in a preseason friendly in Thailand this week and shone again against Melbourne Victory.

It followed his first-team debut in a 1-1 draw against Young Boys in the Champions League, where he starred alongside Robbie Savage’s son Charlie.
With a name like ‘Zidane’, the Iraqi Under-23s international always had massive boots to fill.
And in becoming the first-ever player of South Asian descent to pull on the red of Man Utd, he’s well on his way to becoming a superstar.
Iqbal replaced Jesse Lingard for the final few moments of the draw at Old Trafford – and could be ready to fill his shoes now he’s left the club.
He joined the likes of Savage, Shola Shoretire, Teden Mengi and Anthony Elanga in playing the final Champions League group game in 2021.
And while Iqbal had precious little time to make an impact, he appears destined for a bright future having been handed his first-team debut under new boss Ralf Rangnick.
Manchester-born Iqbal joined United in 2012 – at the age of just nine – and is eligible to play for England despite having already featured for Iraq’s youth teams.

The attacking midfielder previously represented Sale United as a kid.
And his former coach hailed his ‘great attitude’ as he targets a future at the Premier League giants.
But it wasn’t only his attitude, Iqbal was described as being ‘unfairly good’ – and was even subbed off or stuck in goal to give opponents a chance.
Earlier this year, Iqbal’s old coach Stewart Hamer told MEN: “He had a great attitude, he was always willing to learn and he played with a big smile on his face.
“He was quite happy to do whatever we challenged him to do.
“Everyone took their part in being a goalkeeper, for example, and he’d take his part in the net just like everyone else.”

Hamer continued: “We had quite a bit of success if you can call it that at that stage, and Zidane was at the heart of that.
“There were times when we would play six-a-side competitions and he would be basically ripping it up.
“We would take him off and substitute him because it wasn’t fair to the other side.
“Or sometimes we’d put him in goal so he wasn’t causing the danger.”
