France star Antoine Griezmann picks his dream 5-a-side team including Kante, Beckham and Barcelona’s Dembele

ANTOINE GRIEZMANN has played with some pretty decent players in his time, it’s fair to say.But the 31-year-old France forward, who is currently seeing his match action on loan at Atletico Madrid restricted by a bizarre clause inserted by parent club Barcelona, did managed to pick his dream five-a-side team from team-mates and one footballing legend when pressed for it two years ago.

Antoine Griezmann picked his dream 5-a-side team from team-mates and one footballing legend
And he is backing them to stay undefeated despite two notable absentees.
The striker even opted to go WITHOUT a goalkeeper in his all-star team.
Speaking to Oh My Goal, Griezmann talked through his side: “I’d go with Ousmane Dembele and I would say NG, N’Golo Kante, because you never lose when he’s on your team.
“I would take Godin because he always finds a way to cheat and win!

That means there is no place for France team-mate Kylian Mbappe in the side.
However, when asked who the most skillful player is, Griezmann said either Mbappe or fellow Frenchman Dembele.
The Atleti star also said that Diego Costa is the best player he has played with, saying: “I would have to say Diego Costa, for the support he gives me on the field.

“Because he allows me to play freely. He’s a guy I really work well with on the pitch.
“We understand each other with a single look, we know where we’re both at.
“On top of that he’s a fighter and he brings that out in me, which I love. It’s rare to have that with a team-mate.”
Surprisingly, Griezmann said the best player he has faced on a football field is Dutch midfielder Frenkie De Jong, who is now at Barcelona.
The Dutchman is now a teammate at Barcelona.
But Griezmann said former Real Madrid defender Pepe was the toughest to play against.
Griezmann added: “I tried to put pressure on De Jong and never succeeded.
“Pepe is always breathing down your neck. He’s always on top of you and he’s a player who’s very difficult to get past.”

But the World Cup winner was very much sat on the fence when he was asked to settle the ongoing debate.
“Best player of all time? Well, you know… It depends on the era but I would say either Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I never saw how Diego Maradona and Pele played. It’s a tough question, everyone has their own style.
“There’s also Zinedine Zidane. Zidane won the World Cup, Messi and Ronaldo never have.”
Finally, Griezmann made a shock selection when asked to pick his best footballing memory.
Despite helping France win the World Cup in 2018, he did not opt for that.
Instead, he said: “When we moved into the first division with Real Sociedad [2009/10].
“It was honestly the first time that my knees were shaking because it was my first year and the atmosphere was incredible. It was all new for me and it was intimidating.”

Rio Ferdinand admits Man Utd ‘mishandled’ Zaha as Palace star speaks out on rumours he slept with Moyes’ daughter

RIO FERDINAND claimed Manchester United “mishandled” Wilfried Zaha – and that he himself was partly to blame.Crystal Palace hero Zaha, 29, was Sir Alex Ferguson’s final signing for United, costing £10million from the Selhurst Park club in 2013.
Ferdinand believes Man Utd ‘mishandled’ Zaha and that he himself should have done more to protect and nurture him

But he struggled after making his debut under David Moyes and was sold back to Palace for just £3.4m in 2015.

Part of the reason for Zaha’s failure was the speculation surrounding him and Moyes’ daughter Lauren.
Zaha claims he was given no advice from the club on how to deal with this, prompting him to take to Twitter to deny the rumours.
Eagles ace Zaha opened up to former United and England defender Ferdinand on his Locker Room YouTube show in 2020.
But it was in a follow-up tweet that Ferdinand said he should have been there to guide Zaha.
He tweeted: “Wilfried Zaha was mishandled by #MUFC I believe… although the club had started a big transition & as a Snr player I should of done more to help him!”
And a number of fans seemed to agree with Ferdinand.
One wrote: “Wow… Well done, Rio. Admitting responsibility in a matter as this is very rare for senior players like you. I agree with you that Zaha wasn’t well handled at Utd.”
And another posted: “Big of you to say so Rio.”
Zaha, who has since been linked with a return to Old Trafford as well as a move to Newcastle, hit out at United for their lack of support during his time at the club.
Zaha failed to hit the heights expected of him at UtdCredit: Mark Robinson – The Sun
He said: “No one at the club at all told me anything, I didn’t know what to do whatsoever.
“I remember tweeting something about it saying ‘silly rumours’ because it was getting too much, so I had to say something myself and then I remember the club media messaging me saying ‘you shouldn’t have done that, you shouldn’t have done this’ and I’m thinking ‘you haven’t helped me.’
“I’m here by myself, struggling because people are telling me I’ve slept with the manager’s daughter and that’s why you’re not playing me.
“The funny thing is, it’s carried on for so long I felt like, is the manager not going to come and have a word with me over this?
“That’s how I felt and I’m thinking this is ridiculous man. Up to this day I still get people that think that’s true and I’ve never even met his daughter.
“It was stressful. I’m 19, I’m living in Manchester and all of a sudden we come back from a tour and I’m not playing for no reason so obviously [people] are going to make up rumours.

“I’m in Manchester where I’m by myself, and I’m not playing on top of that, so it’s stressful enough to have a rumour.
“People came out with it, I see it trending on Twitter, people came out with how can he play so well on tour then just be dashed out like that with nothing, no one telling us anything – he must have slept with the manager’s daughter.
“And that started going and I’m 19, and my Twitter is blowing up. I’ve never had it before and my Twitter is blowing up and there’s no one for me to speak to.”

Dillian Whyte claimed he saw Deontay Wilder knocked out cold ‘twitching’ on floor by Wladimir Klitschko in sparring

DEONTAY WILDER was hailed in defeat for a chin as tough as his fighting spirit after Tyson Fury’s trilogy triumph. But fellow heavyweight Dillian Whyte claimed he once saw the American knocked out cold and ‘twitching’ by legend Wladimir Klitschko during sparring.

Whyte claims Klitschko knocked out Deontay Wilder in sparring
Title hopeful Whyte was a sparring partner for former world king Klistchko in 2014.
In an interview last year, the Brit revealed that other training partners – including Wilder- took a beating left, right and centre.
Whyte told Sky Sports: “I’ve seen him getting knocked out, Wladimir knocked him out.
“He knew what happened. He had his hands up. He was roughing Wlad up, bringing the smoke, and he was going wild.
“Wlad backs up, changes his footwork, feinting, feinting, jabs to the body, throws that feint jab, left hook. Wilder had his hands up, he was gone.
“It wasn’t no knockdown, he was knocked cold. Properly twitching as well.
“That’s why they probably didn’t want him to fight Wlad, because Wlad was going to fight him as a pro and Wilder never fancied it the whole time.”
Whyte admitted after watching sparring partners get put down he went hell for leather with Klitschko – resulting in him being sent home from the camp.
But he would return, and be joined by rival Anthony Joshua, who Whyte beat in the amateurs in 2009 before losing the rematch in the pro ranks six years later.

The two Londoners clashed in Klitschko’s camp, with the pair being split up before a fight outside the ropes broke out.
Whyte explained: “I wanted to punch Joshua up, at first, because he was talking a lot of smack.
“There was genuine annoyance there. Bashir [Ali] and a couple of guys stopped me getting at him and then it sort of got squashed. It was a bit edgy.”

Man City star Erling Haaland believes seven strikers are better than him, including Harry Kane and Aubameyang

ERLING HAALAND named the seven strikers he thinks are better than him – but would back himself in a crunch tie.The Manchester City star, 21, has settled into Premier League life well – already scoring 10 goals from his first six games.

And he extended that goalscoring run in the Champions League – netting twice against Sevilla in a 4-0 rout.
In an interview with VG in 2020, the Norwegian sensation could only think of seven centre-forwards in world football better than him at the time – and it was some list.
The seven was made up of five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo and Robert Lewandowski, formerly of Dortmund’s rivals Bayern Munich.
Three of the remaining five strikers played their football in the Premier League with Tottenham hero Harry Kane, Roberto Firmino of Liverpool and Chelsea new Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang named.

Intriguingly, Timo Werner – who has struggled to replicate his form at Germany at Stamford Bridge and is now back in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig also made the list.
But despite the hundreds of goals between the seven, Haaland emphasised he had the self-confidence to choose himself to lead the line in a huge match.

There are, however, a few of the biggest No9 names left out.
Haaland omitted the likes of Luis Suarez, Karim Benzema and Romelu Lukaku – as well as Leicester legend Jamie Vardy.
The Norwegian said the Foxes frontman is the ‘best striker in the world’ at getting in behind defences and revealed he watches videos of him in action.

But the biggest surprise sees no Kylian Mbappe, arguably the most valuable player in the world, on the Norwegian’s list.
The pair may not see eye to eye after Mbappe, Neymar and their Paris Saint-Germain team-mates mocked the Dortmund star’s celebration following their comeback win in the Champions League in 2020.

Chelsea’s 2008 schoolboy side produced James and Guehi along with Liverpool and Man City stars

CHELSEA’S prolific academy can be summed in just one photo. In 2019, Blues assistant manager Joe Edwards shared an astonishing picture from 2008 when 15 youngsters had just signed their first schoolboy forms with the London club.
Chelsea assistant boss Joe Edwards, back row, centre, shared a picture of his academy side in 2008 which now contains nine professional playersCredit: Twitter / @JoeEdwards86
Two of those – Marc Guehi and Reece James made their debuts for Chelsea in the Carabao Cup demolition of Grimsby in September 2019, while another was on the bench. Guehi has since signed for Crystal Palace for £20million.
James, of course, is now Chelsea’s first-choice right-back and plays for England.
And the line-up of fresh-faced kids also boasts players who featured regularly in the Premier League.
Rhian Brewster, bottom left, impressed at Anfield before joining Swansea on loan last season and then Sheffield United permanently, although he couldn’t save them from relegation.
Ian Carlo Poveda, bottom right, made his City debut in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup before joining Leeds. He is now on loan at Blackburn.
It shows the huge strength of the academy system at Stamford Bridge which saw the club win five successive FA Youth Cups between 2014-18.
Recently, the likes of Mason Mount broke into the first team on a regular basis.
The sales of Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori for £34million and £25million respectively certainly swelled the coffers to allow Chelsea to buy Romelu Lukaku last summer for £98million.

Generally in most age groups, clubs are fortunate if two or three go from promising eight-year-olds to making the grade.
So to see nine come through is a remarkable example of how the development system expensively set up by the Blues is reaping rewards.

It joins a limited edition £8.5million Bugatti Centodieci – of which only ten have been made, he added to his incredible fleet last year.
Ronaldo, 37, regularly takes his new motor for a spin as he arrives at training at United’s The AON Carrington Training Complex back in M
While in 2020, he was spotted taking a tour of Ferrari’s Maranello company, where he posed for a picture with a F1 car and ordered himself a Ferrari Monza worth £1.4million.
That puts his car collection now at around roughly £17million – with Bugattis being his favourite.
Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo has a Bugatti Chiron and a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport Vitesse as part of his huge hoard.
He has ‘CR7’ embroidered on the headrests of his other two Bugattis, but his latest model he bought is believed to be a tribute to the legendary Bugatti EB110 – Centodieci is Italian for 110.
The Centodieci boasts an 8 litre W16 engine, with special models having 1600hp – some 100hp more than the Chiron and, overall, three times the price of that model.
It can do 0-62mph in just 2.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 236mph.
The Portuguese superstar has supercars likes Ferraris, Lamborghinis and Rolls Royces, admitting to Piers Morgan in an interview he likes to have two of everything.

    BUGATTI CHIRON, £2.15MILLION
In 2017, Ronaldo’s need for speed saw the mercurial forward splash the cash on a stunning silver Bugatti Chiron.
Incredibly, it can reach speeds of 260 mph, and does 0-60 in just under 2.5 seconds, not that Turin will allow him the opportunity to drive it that fast with the city’s busy traffic.
As we said, he likes two of everything – and this was the second Bugatti he bought, although he has denied buying a third  – the Bugatti La Voiture Noire – which was reckoned to be the most expensive car in the world EVER at £9.49million, and was snapped up by a mystery buyer last year.

    BUGATTI VEYRON, £1.7M
Only 450 Veyron 16.4 Grand Sports were built, so of course Ronaldo wanted a slice of that rarity pie.
It cost him £1.7m, and the Portuguese legend bought the car as a treat after winning Euro 2016 with his country.
Though the car was involved in a crash in June 2022 in Majorca. The driver, who was reportedly not Ronaldo, lost control and the car skidded into a wall.
The front of the Bugatti was believed to have been wrecked with investigators revealed no other vehicle was involved.
The driver of the car did not suffer any injuries and signed an accident report.

    LAMBORGHINI AVENTADOR, £260,040
Simply because a Bugatti Veyron won’t fulfil Ronaldo’s love of fast cars, in the same year he bought that motor he splashed on a Lamborghini Aventador.
Made in 2011, it’s the most celebrated model by the Italian car designer – and owned by footballers all over the world, not scared of the outlandish price.

A more economic motor than others in his garage, the Camaro has a 6.2-litre V8 engine that delivers 453 horsepower.

You will find parked behind the gates of his Guadalajara mansion a Mercedes SLS AMG Black Series, Lamborghini Aventador, Mustang 500 Eleanor, Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG 6×6, Ferrari Testarossa, AMG C64 biTurbo, Rolls Royce Ghost, Ferrari 458 Italia, McLaren P1, Porsche 911 GT3 and a Lamborghini Gallardo (Renazzo Vorsteiner edition). More recently, Canelo posed with a red LaFerrai, which costs around £2m.  Total value of all that lot? About £10m.

    GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS
Being a successful sports star is a big pull, especially when it comes to attracting the opposite sex.
And Alvarez has dated some of the world’s most beautiful women – from a former Miss Universe to an actress who was mates with a drug baron to Colombian footballer James Rodriguez’s current flame.
In 2012, he wined and dined TV star Kate del Castillo, who is 18-years his senior. Referring to their sex life during a chat show interview, she revealed: “There were some strong rounds and yes, there were sometimes knockouts.”
Continuing to speak in boxing metaphors, she added: “He was the first to hit the canvas and ask for his corner to throw in the towel.”
Incredibly, del Castillo’s name would come up again in 2015 as an intermediary between former leader of the Sinaloa Cartel Joaquin ‘El Chapo’ Guzman and Sean Penn, four years after her split with Alvarez.
She introduced ‘El Chapo’ to the Hollywood star after the drug lord escaped from a maximum-security prison in Mexico, and a huge TV interview followed.
Before del Castillo there was Marisol Gonzalez, who competed in the 2003 Miss Universe beauty pageant.
So loved up, they were engaged following a whirlwind nine-month romance in 2010. However, their love didn’t last and they called off the engagement a year later.

In 2017, Alvarez wooed Venezuelan stunner Shannon de Lima, a runner up in the ‘Miss Earth Venezuela Pageant’ in 2005, after she divorced Jennifer Lopez’s ex-husband Marc Anthony.
Then, he got into a on/off relationship with Fernanda Gomez, and they welcomed a daughter called Maria Fernanda last year. They are currently still together, but live a very private life.
    HIS DIGS
Currently living in Guadalajara, where he was born, Alvarez has always valued his privacy, so not much is known about the current property he owns
His previous home in Del Mar, San Diego, California was tucked away in a gated community. Only when it was listed for sale in 2015 did we get a window into his life of wealth.
The 11,970-square-foot mansion was sold for around £6m, and featured six bedrooms, high-ceilings, raised wooden beams over the living room, a massive library and an ocean view.
To entertain guests and his entourage, he also had a game room with a built-in bar.

    THE APPLE OF HIS EYE
Despite his reputation as a ladies’ man, and someone who loves to live the high-life, family is important to the redheaded fighter.
His eldest daughter Emily Cinnamon Alvarez, 14, is the most important person in the world to him. That’s why, before he took on Gennady Golovkin in their 2018 rematch, he got a tattoo of her image on his arm, just so she could be in the ring with him.
But mystery shrouds the young girls’ mother. Mexican tabloid Clase claimed Emily was born from a relationship that Alvarez had in high-school with a young woman named Karen Beltran when they were 17-years-old.
There are no public photos of Beltran, who has managed to stay away from the media. Clase also claimed the pair share their daughter.

    SPONSORS KEEP ON COMING
Alvarez is one of the highest-paid athletes in the world. While he doesn’t have the outrageous personality of his contemporary Mayweather Jr, or the knockout factor of Muhammad Ali, DAZN thought he was a worthy investment.
They offered him around £277 million for 11 fights to be streamed exclusively by them, but recently backed out of the deal and is suing them.
However, they have settled their differences – and DAZN will show Canelo’s next two fights.
Despite his rather bizarre fashion choices, once flying in a private jet in a panda suit, he’s a poster boy for advertisers too.
Alongside basketball whizz Steph Curry, Alvarez fronts campaigns for sportswear giant Under Armour, peddling their boxing range.
Add to that deals with Cognac house Hennessy, beer company Tecate, and Everlast, it’s clear that Alvarez is rolling in it. And according to experts, it won’t be long before the orthodox brawler progresses from millionaire to billionaire. Still not jealous?
