United announced on Monday that the Glazers were “looking to explore strategic alternatives” for the club.
Ratcliffe, 70, is a lifelong Red Devils fan and it was revealed in the summer he was interested in taking over the club.
A spokesperson said: “If the club is for sale, Jim is definitely a potential buyer.
“If something like this was possible, we would be interested in talking with a view to long-term ownership.
“This is not about the money that has been spent or not spent. Jim is looking at what can be done now and, knowing how important the club is to the city, it feels like the time is right for a reset.”
Back in April, Ratcliffe put in an offer for Chelsea after speaking with former Blues chairman Bruce Buck, when sanctions placed on Roman Abramovich triggered a fire sale.
Ratcliffe is a petrochemicals tycoon who at his peak was worth around £21BILLION.
He runs multi-billion-pound chemicals giant Ineos, which owns French club Nice, Swiss side Lausanne, plus a third of Formula One team Mercedes.

Speaking in October about taking over United, he said: “If it had been for sale in the summer, yes, we would probably have had a go, following on from the Chelsea thing.
“But we can’t sit around hoping that one day United will become available.”
Now United IS available, and billionaire businessman Ratcliffe is ready to negotiate a potential takeover.GROWING UP
Ratcliffe was born in Failsworth,  LancashireCredit: AFP or licensors
Ratcliffe was born in Failsworth, Lancashire, a commuter town just outside of Manchester.
His father was a joiner and his mother worked in accounts, with the family living in a council house until the age of ten, before eventually moving to Hull, Yorkshire.
His father later ran a factory making lab furniture.
Ratcliffe previously admitted that despite having a Chelsea season ticket for many years, he is actually a Manchester United fan.
He said: “I am a season ticket holder at Chelsea, have been for years, although I’m a Manchester United fan really.
    “Or was!”
After attending Beverley Grammar School, Ratcliffe graduated from the University of Birmingham with a degree in chemical engineering.
He also attended the London Business School, studying management accounting and graduating in 1980.
    CAREER
Back in 2019, Ratcliffe forked out £91m to buy NiceCredit: Jamie McPhilimey – The Sun
Ratcliffe’s first job was with oil firm Esso, before moving to American private equity group Advent international in 1989.
He only became an entrepreneur at 40, as co-founder of INSPEC and then in 1998 forming Ineos in Hampshire, buying out his partners.
The company used high-yield debt to finance deals, buying unwanted operations from bigger firms such as ISI and BP.
In 2006, Ineos bought BP’s refining and petrochemical arm Innovene, giving the company refineries in five European countries and Canada.
Ineos quit the United Kingdom in 2010, moving their head office from Hampshire to Rolle, Switzerland.
The move is said to have saved Ratcliffe and his firm around £100million annually because of lesser tax.

He did return in 2015, however, putting the chemicals and energy branch of Ineos in Knightsbridge, London, saying he was “very cheerful” about being back in the UK and untroubled by Brexit.
In fact, Ratcliffe had voted for Brexit.
However, he quit the UK in 2018, moving to tax haven Monaco.
The same year, the Sunday Times named Ratcliffe as Britain’s Richest Man, with a personal wealth of £21.05bn.
Ineos, which employs around 19,000 people across the globe, makes fuels and lubricants, food packaging and construction materials that are a huge part of everyday life.
It also supplies natural gas to homes and produces plastics, acids and polystyrene.
In 2018, Ineos had a turnover of £45bn and is valued at £35bn.
He previously revealed to The Times how he made his money, saying: “We’d look at businesses that were unfashionable or unsexy, facilities owned by large corporations where you’d know they would be sloppy with the fixed costs.
“We’d run them a bit better, reduce the costs, make them busy, and over the cycle they are very profitable.”
Ratcliffe has been called secretive and reclusive and according to the Financial Times has been given some nefarious nicknames by rivals and staff.
They reported he has been called JR after the scheming oil tycoon from 1980s hit show Dallas, as well as Dr No – after the Bond villain/mad scientist.

    PERSONAL LIFE
Ratcliffe, who is a vocal supporter of fracking, was married to Amanda Townson in 1985, before divorcing in 1995 – the couple had two sons.
He also has a daughter from his second wife, Alicia, whom he married in the late 1990s.
Ratcliffe had properties in Chelsea and Hampshire before quitting the country for the French Riviera.
His move to the tax haven, where he already had a property, saved him around £4BILLION in tax.
Ratcliffe was also made a Knight Bachelor in the 2018 Birthday Honours list for services to business and investment.
He has owned two large super-yachts, the Hampshire, which he sold in 2011 to take order of the Hampshire II, which he still owns.
The Hampshire II cost £130million is 257ft 6in and can house 14 guests and 23 crew.
It features six large cabins, has a swimming pool on one of the decks, a helipad, Jacuzzi, sauna, cinema and beach club.
The helipad can even be transformed into a special sports area fit for tennis, badminton, basketball, baseball or football.
His other toys include FOUR private jets and a fleet of cars – although it’s not known which cars he has.
However, he is a known lover of Land Rover Defenders and has financed his own line of cars to rival his favourite 4×4.
The Ineos Projekt Grenadier starts at £55,000.

    SPORTS
Sir Jim has always been a huge fan of sport and physical activity.
As well as growing up a Manchester United fan, he has made expeditions to the North and South Poles and also spent three months on a motorbike trek across South Africa.
Ratcliffe is also said to have completed the London Marathon in 2007.
Before his interest in buying Man Utd, Ratcliffe and Ineos had already bought another football team: Swiss side FC Lausanne-Sport.
He completed the purchase of the team in November 2017, with the club sitting fifth in the Swiss Super League.
However, The Blue and Whites were RELEGATED in his first season at the helm, dropping down to the Challenge League.
The club are currently fourth in the table.
Ineos then paid £91million to take over French Ligue 1 side Nice in 2019.
Elsewhere, Ratcliffe completed a move for cycling outfit Team Sky – and turned them into Team Ineos.
He said: “Cycling is a great endurance and tactical sport that is gaining ever more popularity around the world.
“Equally, cycling continues to mushroom for the general public as it is seen to be good for fitness and health, together with easing congestion and pollution in city environments.
“Ineos is delighted to take on the responsibility of running such a professional team.”
In 2018, Ratcliffe teamed with Olympic hero Sir Ben Ainslie to form Ineos Team UK, and they competed for the America’s Cup from 2021.
It is believed he spent more than £110million on the project.
Clearly, with money to burn, Man Utd fans will be getting excited at the prospect of Ratcliffe backing their club.

When asked who would lead the line before kick-off, Enrique said: “Very easy – It’s Mr Ferran Torres – otherwise my daughter will come after me and chop off my head.”
The former Manchester City star is dating Enrique’s daughter Sira Martinez.
The pair went public with their relationship earlier this year, but reports of their acquaintance with one another stretched back into late last year.
Sira is a professional Spanish show-jumper in Barcelona and is a member of the swanky Barcelona Royal Polo Club.

Torres swapped Man City for Barcelona last January and has scored 12 goals and added seven assists in 44 appearances.
He has also been a regular in the Spanish national team and finally ended an eight game drought with his brace against Costa Rica.

Asked whether he felt extra pressure due to his relationship with Enrique’s daughter at a press conference, he said: “Not at all.
“I think the coach and I, we know how to differentiate between when it’s family and when we are manager and player.

Floyd Mayweather claims Logan Paul bout wasn’t ‘real’ and he would have KO’d YouTuber in first round in pro bout

FLOYD MAYWEATHER claimed his exhibition with Logan Paul was not a ‘real fight’ – and would have won in round one if it was. The American legend returned to the ring in June 2021 for the eight-round spectacle bout, and gave away TWO STONE in doing so.

And Paul scored a huge moral victory after taking it the distance, meaning no winner was technically declared.
But Mayweather has now insisted had the fight been professionally sanctioned, with his 50-0 record on the line, then it would have been a different story.
He said: “I did an exhibition with the YouTuber Logan Paul. We had fun.
“People have gotta know, there’s a difference between a real fight and an exhibition. All I did was work out from time to time.

“If it was a real fight, it would’ve been a blowout in the first round.”
Mayweather hung up the gloves as a pro in 2017 after beating ex-UFC champion Conor McGregor in ten rounds.
But he has since returned in exhibitions, and did so firstly against featherweight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa, 23, in 2018.
Mayweather knocked out Mikuru Asakura in two rounds of their exhibition bout – in front of old rival Manny Pacquiao.

Asakura had no defence for a barrage of right hands coming his way and he was eventually floored just as the bell sounded.
Mayweather has since confirmed he will fight in Japan again – amid talk of an epic rematch with Pacquaio.

During his heyday of the late 80s and early 90s, the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ was one of the most-recognisable and biggest names in the world
One man that enjoyed just as much popularity and spotlight as ‘King of Pop’ Jackson.
However, Tyson has admitted he held a lot of anger towards the musician until the pair did eventually hang out.
Speaking on T.I.’s expediTIously podcast, the former world champion said: “I met Mike one day, I think he was at a concert in Cleveland, I’m with Don King.

“And then I go over to meet Mike, … and he goes like this, ‘Don’t I know you from somewhere? Where I know you from?’
“He broke my ego, he crushed me.
“I said ‘No, I’m just a fan, pleasure to meet you, sir. He said, ‘OK’, and then he got out and went in the car.”
Tyson admitted he refused to let go of the snub for years until Jackson finally invited him to hang out – an offer initially rejected by the fighter.
He added: “I said ‘OK I’m coming, I’ll be over there’, right?
“So I got on a plane, went over there, hung out, and we just started hanging out together. And I said ‘F*** man, he’s a good guy.

Anthony Joshua can not forgive fake celebrity ‘friends’ who deserted him after surprise loss to Andy Ruiz Jr

ANTHONY JOSHUA will never forgive the celeb fake fans who ditched him after his shock KO loss to Andy Ruiz Jr.AJ was the darling of the chat-show circuit with stars from sport, TV, film and music desperate to be ringside and backstage for his run of 22 victories.

But he noticed too many A-listers dropped him quicker than Ruiz did in his disastrous US debut in June 2019.
The Watford fighter regained the WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles before Christmas that year — but left the hangers-on in his past.
Joshua, 31, said afterwards: “I always keep my childhood pals close, I have never been a celebrity brown-noser.
I always keep my childhood pals close, I have never been a celebrity brown-noser.
“When you have a No 1 record, a No 1 film or are a boxing champion and it all goes downhill, the celebrities are on to the next thing.
“But when you are with your people, who know you for you, nothing really changes. It was the people spectating from a distance who had a lot to say.
“Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I know who I am and as I get older I am getting stronger and more resilient — no one will ever be able to break me.”
Joshua, 33, is currently taking a break from the sport after consecutive losses to Oleksandr Usyk.
He could return to face the winner between Whyte, 34, and unbeaten Jermaine Franklin, 29, who fight next weekend.

Meanwhile, Eddie Hearn says Joshua could fight Deontay Wilder for the WBC title if the belts become vacant.
Champions Tyson Fury and Usyk are lined up for a historic first ever four-belt heavyweight unification next year.
But the winner could then be faced with up to FOUR mandatory challengers, making it difficult to hang onto all of the marbles.
Wilder, 37, has been ordered into a WBC final eliminator with Andy Ruiz Jr, 33, meaning the winner is guaranteed a shot at Fury’s title.
And Joshua’s promoter Hearn is ready to get his man into position to then face the winner of the all-American showdown.
And by that time, the title could already be up for grabs if Fury, 34, or Usyk, 35, fail to keep up with their mandatories.
Hearn told Matchroom Boxing: “I think belts are going to become vacant over the next six-12 months. They always are when there’s an undisputed champion.
“So now it’s about positioning yourself, Dillian Whyte, AJ of course, into a shot at the world heavyweight title.
“AJ could be fighting the winner of Wilder – Ruiz for the WBC world heavyweight title, could be fighting Filip Hrgovic.
“Dillian Whyte could be fighting Joe Joyce for the WBO world title. There’s all kinds of eventualities.
“But the pressure will come from the mandatories, that’s just natural when there’s a unified and in this case potentially undisputed champion.” More

Lewis Hamilton could have been 2021 champion but Mercedes ‘missed a trick’ in Abu Dhabi GP, reveals Bernie Ecclestone

FORMER F1 chief Bernie Ecclestone believes Lewis Hamilton would have won an eighth world title if Mercedes had deployed a smarter strategy. Hamilton was pipped to the championship by Max Verstappen on the final lap of the last race at a dramatic Abu Dhabi GP last season.

But Mercedes could have possibly made sure the Safety Car stayed on the track until the end of the race after it was called out with five laps left to go.
That would have meant the leading driver at the time, Hamilton, would have won the race and also the 2021 title.
Ecclestone was asked by Swiss outlet Blick whether Mercedes could have “radioed to [Hamilton’s team-mate Valtteri] Bottas to let the car coast because they want to preserve the engine.”
Had they done so, in all likelihood the Safety Car would have stayed out and Hamilton would have won the race.

And Ecclestone responded: “Pretty clever. I thought of that too, and it would have been ideal to make sure the Safety Car stayed out and the race wouldn’t have been restarted.
“Many people would have been upset, but there wouldn’t have been any changes to the final result.”
He was then asked if they failure to make the call to Bottas had been costly in handing the championship over to Verstappen.

Cristiano Ronaldo v Wayne Rooney, from outstanding Man Utd careers to glam Wags, huge wealth and rows like ‘Winkergate’

CRISTIANO RONALDO and Wayne Rooney are at loggerheads… AGAIN.Forget “Winkergate”, the DC United boss says Ronaldo is becoming an “unwelcome distraction” at Manchester United following a series of hissy fits.
Ronaldo and Rooney have both been successful on the football pitch
Rooney’s comments resulted in his former team-mate hitting back in a brand NEW exclusive interview with SunSport columnist Piers Morgan on TalkTV.
Ronaldo took aim at Rooney’s early retirement as well as making personal attacks on the England all-time top scorer’s looks.
CR7 slammed: “I don’t know why he criticises me so badly… probably because he finished his career and I’m still playing at a high level.
“I’m not going to say that I’m looking better than him. Which is true…”

Rooney had previously questioned whether Ronaldo re-signing for United was a success.
When asked if Ronaldo’s signing has worked out for United, Rooney said: “You’d have to say no, at the minute.
“I think he’s scored goals, he’s scored important goals in the Champions League early on in the season. He scored the hat-trick against Tottenham.
“But I think if you look to the future of the club you would have to go with younger, hungry players to do the best to lift Manchester United over these next two, three years.

“And obviously Cristiano is getting on a bit. He certainly isn’t the player he was when he was in his 20s. And that happens, that’s football.
“He’s a goal threat but I think the rest of the game they need more, they need young, hungry players.”
Ronaldo has since hit-back, although it may have been tongue in cheek, by sharing a photo from MNF on Instagram and commenting “Two jealous” alongside an eyes emoji.
Fired barbs aside, there’s no doubt the pair have had amazing careers, built up huge wealth, scored glam Wags, and have a lifestyle that’s enviable of the football world.
And, of course, there’s been controversies along the way…
    Lethal pairing
Ronaldo might not have played the best football of his career at United, but when he played alongside Rooney from 2004-2009 they formed a lethal partnership.
They won three league titles together, as well as the Champions League in their five years at Old Trafford leading the Red Devils front line.
A counter-attacking goal against Arsenal at the Emirates in a Champions League semi-final epitomised the chemistry the pair had on the pitch.
Ronaldo managed 118 goals in 292 games, scooping the Golden Boot in 2008.
Rooney would go on to become United’s all-time top goalscorer with 253 goals from 559 matches.
When Ronaldo left United, he grew into a bigger superstar – scoring 450 goals for Real Madrid in just 438 games and adding four more Champions League titles to his name.
He would then win Serie A with Juventus twice, before returning to United where he reached 700 career club goals.
Internationally, his career knows no bounds. With 117 goals for Portugal he’s scored more than anyone else in international football, as well as lifted the European Championships.
Rooney did become England’s all-time top scorer, but looks likely to lose that mantle to Harry Kane.

After leaving United, spells at Everton, then DC United wound down his career.
Derby County gave Roon a return to our shores, but went back across the pond to manage DC United following the Rams’ relegation.
    Wags
Rooney and Ronaldo, because of their high-profiles, were always going to have their love-lives splashed on the front pages.
Rooney went for his childhood sweetheart, Coleen. After growing up together in Croxteth from the age of 12, they married in a glitzy ceremony in Portofino, Italy.
The wedding was paid for by OK! Magazine who were said to have secured the rights to details and pictures of the nuptials for a cool £2.5million.
They have four sons together, Kai, Klay, Kit, and Cass.
Ronaldo was linked to a string of beautiful women in the past, and dated Russian supermodel Irina Shayk.
But, after playing the field, he fell in love with former shop assistant Georgina Rodriguez.
The Spanish stunner has since blossomed into a marketing man’s dream, inking a reported five-figure Instagram deal with fashion house Pretty Little Thing, and is ambassador for the group alongside Kourtney Kardashian and Molly-Mae Hague.

And if that’s not enough, she’s the star of her own Netflix reality TV series I Am Georgina.
Not to be outdone, Coleen appears in Rooney – an Amazon Prime documentary – and talks about the early stages of their romance as well as claims of cheating in their relationship.
Like the Rooneys, Cristiano and Georgina have their own brood. She gave birth to Bella earlier this year to join Cristiano Jr, Eva Maria, Alana Martina and Mateo, but sadly lost Bella’s twin while giving birth.
    Glam lifestyles
Money is certainly no object for the pair, who boast incredible fortunes.
Rooney is said to be worth around £144m, while Ronaldo has amassed a pot worth £425m.
That’s meant off the pitch they live a life of luxury, from living in mansions, driving expensive cars, owning super yachts and flying in private jets.
After four years of delays, the Rooneys finally moved into their £20m Cheshire home.
Called ‘Mini-Versailles’, the six-bedroom home sits on 40 acres of land.
It houses a television room, bar, wine store, snooker room, cinema, gym, hot tub, swimming pool, plunge pool and steam room.
There is also not one but two lifts – one for the family to use and another for visitors.
Outside it boasts stables, a six-car garage, an orangery and two man-made fishing lakes.

This stunning villa in Marbella is one of Ronaldo’s prized possessions
Ronaldo is back in Manchester and renting a mansion that used to belong to Andy Cole.
However, the jewel of his property empire is in Marbella.
In 2019, Ronaldo reportedly spent £1.4m on a holiday home in the Costa del Sol.
The area the lavish house sits in is called ‘The Superstars Cul-De-Sac’ because of the number of famous residents who live there.
UFC star Conor McGregor is also believed to own a property nearby.
It’s got four bedrooms, high-vaulted ceilings and incredible views of the sea.
There’s a private golf course, the driveway is lit up by LED lights, it has a private gym, an in-built cinema and infinity pool.
Ronaldo has also spent his well-earned cash on a luxury £5.5m yacht and a £20m private jet.
And his £17m car collection is one of the best in sport – boasting high-profile motors including a Bugatti Centodieci worth £8.5m.
Most recently, he was seen in a £200,000 Aston Martin DBS driving into Carrington.
Rooney has the old footballers’ favourite – a £150,000 Land Rover, among his fleet.
His old Lamborghini Gallardo from 2007 was recently listed on AutoTrader.

    Controversies
Off the pitch, Ronaldo has more or less kept himself out of trouble.
On it, the pair were famously embroiled in “Winkergate” – when the Portuguese superstar saw his then team-mate sent off in a World Cup quarter-final between England and Portugal, and delivered a nod to the cameras.
Incredibly, the two brushed the incident under the carpet when they returned for Man Utd.
Two years prior to that moment, Rooney would find himself on the front pages of the papers after admitting having sex with prostitutes after he was caught on CCTV visiting a backstreet brothel.
Rooney was said to have paid £45 for the services of a 48-year-old grandmother in a rubber catsuit and a mother-of-six dressed as a cowgirl 10 times.
“Foolish as it now seems I did on occasions visit massage parlours and prostitutes,” he said.

Most recently, Rooney was seen in a hotel room with a group of women
“I now regret it deeply and hope people may understand that it was the sort of mistake you make when you are young and stupid. It was at a time when I was very young and immature.”
In 2008 prostitute Jennifer Thompson claimed her and fellow sex worker Helen Wood were also paid £1,000 to have a threesome with him, while wife Coleen was five-months pregnant.
Almost 10 years later, Rooney would again get himself in bother – when he was stopped by police for drink-driving while partying with reveller Laura Simpson.
A move to the States failed to curb his appetite for fun. He was seen enjoying a drink with barmaid Vicki Rosiek, although nothing untoward happened.

And last year, he was pictured with a group of young woman in a hotel room having fallen asleep. Again, nothing was said to have happened.
A rape claim against Ronaldo made by Kathryn Mayorga in Las Vegas from 2009 has always been firmly denied and was recommended for dismissal in late 2021. More
