Newcastle idol Alan Shearer tells VAR to ‘f*** off’ in X-rated blast having called handball rule ‘pile of s***’

NEWCASTLE legend Alan Shearer has told VAR where it should go, in not-so-nice terms. The Magpies saw a goal disallowed in their 2-1 win over Nottingham Forest when Sean Longstaff was deemed to be offside in the build-up of Elliot Anderson’s headed effort.

However, the ball was played by two Forest defenders BEFORE hitting Longstaff.
The Toon faithful were understandably furious, with even the rulebook backing up their side.
Shearer joined in with the chorus of anger online, saying on his Twitter page: “Oh f… off VAR.”
The Premier League all-time top goalscorer later added: “I’ve sat in the stand as a fan. I’ve sat in the studio as a pundit.

“I’ve watched in the pub tonight with my mates and you’re getting it all wrong VAR. It’s not what you told us.”
The X-rated rant comes just days after he blasted the handball law when Manchester City were awarded a penalty in the Champions League.
It came as RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Henrichs saw the ball strike his arm from close range after Rodri’s downward header in mid-air.
Shearer was up in arms online with the decision, writing: “What a pile of s*** the handball law is. #pathetic.”

Despite the introduction of VAR, refereeing continues to suffer from a lack of efficacy.
Former Prem whistler Mark Halsey has also voiced his displeasure with the current use of VAR and the offside law.
He told SunSport: “The offside law is an ass.
“It’s a nonsense decision (Longstaff offside). Surely it’s a deliberate play by Forest defender Felipe?
“But goals being ruled out for something like this does not sit right with me.” More

Furious Newcastle fans ask ‘how is that offside?’ as Elliot Anderson goal ruled out as rulebook says strike SHOULD count

NEWCASTLE fans were left fuming after Elliot Anderson saw his goal ruled out for offside despite the rulebook saying it SHOULD have counted. The Magpies thought they had taken the lead when Anderson headed home at the far post.

However, an apparent offside call on Sean Longstaff in the build-up saw the goal ruled out by ref Paul Tierney.
Longstaff was deemed to be offside after the ball was booted against him by Nottingham Forest defender Moussa Niakhate after Felipe’s initial attempt at a clearance.
Law 11.2 which details offside, states: “A player in an offside position receiving the ball from an opponent who deliberately plays the ball, including by deliberate handball, is not considered to have gained an advantage, unless it was a deliberate save by any opponent.
“A ‘save’ is when a player stops, or attempts to stop, a ball which is going into or very close to the goal with any part of the body except the hands/arms (unless the goalkeeper within the penalty area).”
Former top Premier League ref Mark Halsey branded the decision “nonsense.”
Halsey declared: “The offside law is an ass. It’s a nonsense decision. Surely it’s a deliberate play by Forest defender Felipe.
“The offside law is open to interpretation and Tierney has deemed it was not a deliberate play.
“But goals being ruled out for something like this does not sit right with me.”

Angry Toon fans, including ex-star Steve Harper, took to Twitter to voice their frustration.
Harper said: “That’s a dreadful VAR decision!
“How is it offside when two Forest players have intentionally played the ball before Longstaff becomes active 🤷🏻‍♂️?”
One user exclaimed: “How was this disallowed?
“The ball was played to Longstaff by a Notts defender!”
A second user admitted: “Someone will have to explain the rules to me, because I have no idea why that has been ruled out for offside.
“The #NFFC defender plays the ball off Longstaff, no?”
However, Newcastle were able to get their goal in the end, with Alexander Isak scoring an injury-time winner from the penalty spot.
The win moves Eddie Howe’s side to within a point of the Champions League spots. More

I booked Craig Bellamy for diving but it was a blatant penalty…when I tried to explain he grabbed my b***s in the tunnel

FORMER Premier League referee Mark Clattenburg has opened up on his frosty relationship with Craig Bellamy. The official revealed that the former Wales striker never forgave him for handing him a second yellow card for diving when, in fact, he should have been awarded a penalty.

Asked by Sport Bible what players he didn’t like to referee, Clattenburg, who was a top-flight official from 2004 to 2017, explained Bellamy used to give him a difficult time.
The man with the whistle even joked he wished Newcastle had kept him on a “20-year-deal” so he never had to take charge of one of his matches because Clattenburg is a Geordie.
He said: “The player I didn’t get on with was Bellamy.
“He played for Manchester City. It was my fault. He abused us in the first-half. I gave him a yellow card.

“And then I ended up sending him off, and when you watch it, it was a penalty and I cautioned him for diving.
“He would not forgive us. He was right and I was wrong.
“I probably got sucked into his way, not manipulative, but he was hard work and in your face, in your ear. He was hard work.
“I spent more time with him, fighting him, than I should have. I should have just left it.”

Clattenburg was asked if he had tried to explain to Bellamy that he made a mistake at their next meeting when he made a shocking revelation.
The referee said: “Yeah, he grabbed my b***s in the tunnel at Man City.
“It was a laugh, it was a joke, of course.”
Clattenburg also confessed he was wrong to go up to one of Bellamy’s coaches at the club and ask if “he is always like this?”
The 48-year-old, who recently quit his role as head of referees in Egypt over threats, admitted that other footballers were nicer to him.
Clattenburg claimed that Vincent Kompany once came up to him and told him not to beat himself up over a mistake he made.
The ref in the Champions League and Euros finals in 2016 also told the tale of ex-Chelsea skipper John Terry being a “gentleman” even though he once waited in the official’s office to protest a red card he received.
Clattenburg also believes Manchester United stars were under instruction to influence the referee due to a different player coming up to him to complain after every decision.

Why do referees wear gloves in boxing?

BOXING referees are often spotted wearing gloves when in the ring. The rubber gloves are different to those players wear, so why do do the referees wear them?
Referees are often spotted wearing gloves during fights.
Why do referees wear gloves in Boxing?
Referees wear gloves to prevent the transmission of contagious diseases. The rule was brought in during 1987, eight years after the discovery of AIDS.
The disease can be caught from blood and other bodily fluids, which referees can be covered in after brutal fights.

However, the referees faces are often seen covered in blood, so the gloves don’t go far in protecting them.

Ref Jesus Granados took a punch to the chest from fighter Irvin Turrubiartes.
Granados initially stayed on his feet but had to be stretchered out after doctors took a look at him.
What is the risk of a referee contracting a disease in the ring?
The risk of a ref catching a disease from a fighter today is almost impossible. Athletes must pass several medical tests to be able to fight, including HIV, Hepatitis A, B and C and Fungus tests.
These make it incredibly hard for a referee or opponent to catch a disease from the fight.

‘I don’t give a s***’ – Ex-Liverpool star blames ref for Dortmund’s Chelsea loss as he slams ‘arrogant, afraid’ official

BORUSSIA DORTMUND midfielder Emre Can labelled referee Danny Makkelie “arrogant” and “afraid” following their 2-1 aggregate defeat to Chelsea in the Champions League. The Bundesliga giants took a 1-0 lead into the second leg at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening.

But goals from Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz handed Graham Potter’s men a place in the quarter-finals.
The crucial moment came shortly after the break when Ben Chilwell’s cross struck the arm of Marius Wolf.
After going over to the monitor, Makkelie awarded the spot kick.
But that was just the beginning of the drama.

Havertz stepped up and struck the post as Chelsea rued squandering a gilt-edged chance.
But just seconds later they were given the opportunity all over again.
That’s because the VAR spotted that Salih Ozcan, who cleared the ball away after it came back off the post, had encroached before the penalty was taken.
Havertz took responsibility once more, going the same way to convert at the second time of asking.

And the scoreline stayed that way until full-time as Dortmund were left raging at the officials.
Ex-Liverpool man Can was then interviewed after the final whistle and did not hold back in his assessment of Makkelie’s performance.
He said: “The referee. It was his fault today. How can you give the second penalty in the situation? How does it work? That simply does not work!
“I don’t give a s*** who walked in there before. He was arrogant the whole game – that’s where it starts. We lost here undeservedly because of the referee.”
Sensationally, Can then went on to speculate whether Makkelie was fearful of the Chelsea supporters.
He added: “We play here at Stamford Bridge. Maybe he’s afraid of the fans, I don’t know.
“But then UEFA should send another referee.”
Chelsea’s win ended Dortmund’s 10-game winning streak since the World Cup.
But Edin Terzic’s side are still in with a good chance of winning the Bundesliga title as they sit level on points with table toppers Bayern Munich.
And the Dortmund boss will have to quickly overcome the frustration of their European exit.
Like Can, Terzic could not hide his disappointment at the referee after the defeat to Chelsea.

He said: “If a decision [the penalty] takes five or six minutes to make you know it’s not been an easy call.
“I’m the manager, I’m responsible for performances. But not for the performance of the referee.” More
