The unseen footage that PROVES Liverpool got lucky and Wolves’ offside goal should have counted in FA Cup

NEW unseen footage PROVES Liverpool got lucky and Wolves’ FA Cup winner should have stood. Julen Lopetegui was left fuming when Toti Gomes’ late strike was chalked off.

Video footage shows the camera angle the VAR did not have access to
Wolves ace Matheus Nunes was played onside in the build-up to the goal

The assistant referee put his flag up to rule it out, with the official penalising corner-taker Matheus Nunes when the ball was headed back out to him to recycle and cross again.
But fans, coaches, players and even TV commentators were left baffled with no replays of the correct angle available.
A lengthy VAR review, therefore, resulted in the linesman’s decision standing and the goal ruled out as the tie ended 2-2 and is heading for a replay.
But now a fan video from the stands at Anfield shared on Instagram shows the incident unfolding – and it does not make fun viewing for Wolves supporters.

It shows Nunes taking the corner and a Wolves team-mate heading the ball back out towards the touchline where the Portuguese playmaker receives it.
However, when the ball is headed, Nunez is clearly onside thanks to Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold at the back post.
It means the ex-Sporting star started in a legal position when he ran back to collect and deliver the ball back into the box before Hwang Hee-chan’s shot was turned in by Toti.
But because the VAR did not have that angle to see Nunes’ position and know he was onside, the goal did not stand.

Wolves were left utterly apoplectic with manager Lopetegui and captain Ruben Neves going in to speak with referee Andy Madley afterwards.
The new Molineux boss wanted answers from the FA or ref body PGMOL and said: “We have seen it, the offside doesn’t exist, I’m sorry. It’s impossible.
“Someone has told him it’s offside, but we’ve seen the images, it doesn’t exist.
“The decision is wrong. I make mistakes every day, and sometimes they do too.
“Today we have the help of VAR, and it is a pity, because I’m sorry, it’s not offside.”
Wolves – whose anger boiled over again on Wednesday when they were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by Nottingham Forest on penalties – host Liverpool in the replay on January 17.
The winners will then travel to Brighton in the fourth round for another all-Premier League clash.

‘The audacity to celebrate’ – Watch moment outrageous ghost goal is awarded by ref despite BLATANT miss

ITALIAN seventh division side ASD Noicattaro had every right to feel aggrieved after the referee awarded an astonishing goal against them.Facing off against Castellana 1928, a cross was squared across the box from the right-hand side.

An attacking player then made contact with the football at the far post.
However, they saw their effort fly into the SIDE netting and bounce clearly away from the goal – a blatant miss to many.
But Noicattaro players were left fuming as the ref somehow awarded a goal.
Castellana wheeled off in celebration while the home side surrounded the referee to voice their protests at the “terrible decision”.

Fans online picked up on the incident but chose to highlight the celebrations of the visitors.
Taking to Reddit, one user said: “The audacity to celebrate that, no idea what the ref saw as well.
“Even if it looked in from his angle, I can’t understand how he’d still think it was a goal after he saw the ball bouncing away.”
A second user remarked: “The ref must’ve known he was wrong when the player who took the shot doesn’t celebrate and he has an entire team in his face saying it didn’t go in.”

A third scoffed: “I can’t even imagine having the audacity to celebrate.”
A fourth added: “At nil all, celebrating this s*** is way too disrespectful.”
“What losers to celebrate and try to get credit for that ‘goal’. Embarrassing,” said another user.
Taking to their Instagram page, an outraged ASD Noicattaro added their visceral reaction.
They shared a post of the goal alongside the caption: “VOMIT.LOOK HOW WE LOST TODAY 1-0 AGAINST CASTELLANA.” More

Watch astonishing moment ex-Liverpool star Nuri Sahin rushes to protect referee from his OWN Antalyaspor players

EX-LIVERPOOL star Nuri Sahin rushed to protect the referee from his OWN Antalyaspor players after the controversial loss to Fenerbahce.Referee Kadir Saglam sent the Antalyaspor team into fits of rage after a number of controversial decisions saw the team fall to a narrow 2-1 defeat to the Super Lig leaders.

Antalyaspor were denied an equaliser, which would have pushed them a point above the relegation zone, with a dodgy offside call.
At full-time, Antalyaspor players angrily confronted referee Saglam.
But in an effort to calm tensions, ex-Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool and Real Madrid ace Sahin, who manages the team at the young age of 34, leapt to the referee’s defence.
Sahin extended his arms out to shield Saglam and waived his players away.

It didn’t stop Saglam from brandishing a red card though, to what looks to be a staff member.
After the game, Antalyaspor have demanded the VAR logs in a strongly-worded statement titled “Darkness of night”.
Antalyaspor branded Saglam as a “novice”, while also citing their previous grievances with the referee.
It read: “In Turkish football, Sivas and Gaziantep yesterday, Antalya today, is another city where a dark night will be experienced tomorrow.

    “We knew Kadir Saglam before.
“Let’s remind: In the Kasımpaşa match we played in the 5th week of this season , tonight’s referee Kadir Saglam was also the one who did not give a red card to Larsson’s face in the match against Kasimpasa, but who made up a penalty in the position that went aude, and who was suspended for 4 weeks after this match.
“We said we don’t want novice referees.
“In today’s match, the same referee who assisted Fenerbahce’s first goal, sought the penalty and made up the offside, despite being stopped by a foul while attacking with Bunyamin while he was ahead 1-0.
“We wonder if there ‘s any offside talk in the VAR recordings .
“We demand clarification, we believe that TFF’s understanding of transparency requires it.
“If there is a right, we want it to be known that we are not halal.
“We are against the order that treats Anatolian clubs to the championship race. We demand justice not only for our community, but for all Anatolian clubs.”
Bitter rivals Galatasaray have echoed Antalyaspor’s calls for the release of the VAR recordings.
Galatasaray trail their Istanbul rivals in the Super Lig by two points and would be level had Tuesday’s game with Antalyaspor ended a draw.
Galatasaray tweeted: “Those who do not suffer from justice received their privilege @Fenerbahce .

Japanese official Ryuji Sato took charge of the highly-charged AFF Cup 2022 clash between Vietnam and Malaysia in Hanoi.
The home side led 1-0 but were down to ten men after just 32 minutes.
But it all kicked off in the second half, sparked by a moment of madness from Malaysian right-back Azam Azmi.
Azmi, wearing the yellow of Malaysia, was tackled late by a Vietnam player as the defender tried to clear his lines from his own penalty area just after the hour mark.

The ball stayed just stayed in play as the game carried on.
But the Vietnam attacker and Azmi slid off the pitch and tussled against the advertising hoardings.
The crowd in Hanoi roared furiously after a flashpoint out of camera shot – reportedly a kick out from Azmi in retaliation for the initial coming together.
The 21-year-old defender trotted back on to the pitch as his opponent stayed down hurt.

And ref Sato spoke with his assistant before brandishing the red card and awarding a penalty.
The Malaysian players were furious as captain Faisal Halim pleaded his team-mate’s innocence.
Some felt the call was harsh and the free-kick should have first been awarded for a foul on Azim.
However, once the referee deemed the foul to have been committed by Azim behind the byline, the penalty was the correct decision.
Law 12.4 of the Ifab rules states: “If, when the ball is in play, a player commits an offence against a match official or an opposing player, substitute, substituted or sent-off player, or team official outside the field of play, play is restarted with a free-kick on the boundary line nearest to where the offence/interference occurred; for direct free kick offences, a penalty kick is awarded if this is within the offender’s penalty area.”
One fan wrote on Twitter: “Not a red that’s for sure.”
Another commented: “Even if it was a red card (doesn’t look like it), isn’t it a foul before from the player in red? If you want to give the penalty you surely have to get back to the foul that happened two seconds before that?”
But a third replied: “You can see the retaliation in the replay. The Malaysia player brings his leg down on the Vietnamese player across his head. Good call in my opinion.”

That was after he was one of the 12 officials to stay in Qatar for the final stages of the tournament.
And with refs’ chief Pierluigi Collina a big fan of Taylor’s man and game-management skills, the 44-year-old is thought to be a genuine contender for the job.
Taylor has not been involved in a knock-out match at the tournament.
He did take control of Belgium’s goalless draw with Croatia and Ghana’s 3-2 win over South Korea, whose enraged Portuguese coach Paulo Bento he dismissed after blowing for full-time before a last-gasp corner could be taken.

Holland’s Danny Makkelie and Poland’s Szymon Marciniak are the other European contenders.
And Brazil’s Wilton Sampaio – blamed by many England fans for their last eight exit – is another front-runner.
William Ling was the first Englishman to referee a World Cup Final when he took charge of the 1954 showdown between Hungary and West Germany, who came from two down to win 3-2.
Twenty years later, Wolverhampton butcher Jack Taylor awarded Holland a penalty inside the first 30 seconds as the Germans again won the trophy.

Sampaio has been RETAINED by Fifa for the final week of the tournament with Brazil knocked out, according to The Telegraph.
That means he could take charge of the final on Sunday.
There are just two semi-finals, Argentina vs Croatia and France vs Morocco, plus the third-place play-off and the final left to play.
Sampaio is still in Qatar alongside Premier League ref Anthony Taylor, but Michael Oliver has been sent home.

The Brazilian ref denied Harry Kane a first-half penalty on Saturday, despite the England skipper clearly being tripped by French defender Dayot Upamecano.
Upamecano then appeared to foul Bukayo Saka in the build up to France’s opening goal.
He did give England a penalty when Saka was fouled by Aurelien Tchouameni, but needed the help of VAR to spot a blatant shove on Mason Mount by Theo Hernandez for the second spot-kick.
After nestling his first penalty into the back of the net, Kane skied his second effort over the bar.

Pranksters changed Sampaio’s Wikipedia page after his display on Saturday night.
While former England defender Gary Neville labelled the ref a “joke”.
He said on ITV: “The referee had a nightmare game, an absolute joke of a referee.
“I’m not saying that was all down to England’s defeat because that’s making excuses, he was just a bad referee, rank bad.”

Fans spot bizarre detail on referee’s shirt during England’s World Cup opener – did you?

WORLD CUP fans spotted a bizarre detail on the referee’s shirt during England’s clash with Iran. Brazilian Raphael Claus was the man in the middle as the Three Lions opened their Qatar 2022 campaign.

And Fifa have made sure their officials – including three female refs – get a bit of extra exposure.
The referee’s kits for the World Cup feature their surnames on the back of the shirt – just like the other 22 stars on the pitch.
Unlike the players, though, the letters are much smaller and could easily be missed.
But some eagle-eyed viewers – who may have overcome the BBC iPlayer issues – spotted ‘Claus’ at the back of the neck on the ref’s jersey.

One said: “One for the Adjudication Panel: is there any precedent for referees donning their names on the back of their shirts and, regardless, how high on the #gamesgone scale does this rank?”
Another wrote: “The last thing football needs is referees with their names on the back if shirts.
“Whatever happened to a good ref being one you don’t notice? Nobody watches football to see the officials have a good game.”

Claus was immediately at the centre of attention at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha.
He failed to award a “stonewall” penalty when England defender Harry Maguire was wrestled to the ground from a corner.
But there was nothing Claus or the Iran defence could do to stop England’s potent attack as they swept their Group B opponents away to win 6-2.
Jude Bellingham grabbed his first Three Lions goal before Bukayo Saka’s double with Raheem Sterling, Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish also getting on the scoresheet.
But just as it looked as though England would match their record 6-1 win from the last World Cup, Claus and his VAR colleagues ensured he was the centre of attention in the 102nd minute when he awarded Iran a penalty for a slight tug by John Stones.

Female refs at World Cup 2022 are a giant leap for womankind especially in Qatar where they are fourth-class citizens

IN MANY ways, the choice of three women refs in the World Cup finals is an important statement on the equality of the sexes. But the fact it will be taking place in a country where women are second best — probably third or fourth after the camel riders and Rolls owners — is of even greater relevance.

Women are second best in QatarCredit: AFP
It says to presidents, parliaments, voters and piggish misogynists alike that women are winning the battle for full rights in a place where they are denied them.
At least Fifa is right in one critical policy. Fully behind equality in our sport, there must be some chance of one of the three being chosen to take charge of the final itself.
It is by no means mission accomplished in gender equality in football or a vast array of sports. But even in the past few days the revolution has flourished, from rugby league to rugby union, in boxing and others, women’s international sports have attracted big audiences on TV.
No longer do many men shudder at body-busting tackles among a host of charging females — although I have to admit I feel the occasional jolt and wonder how they cover up the bruises and black eyes.

What has impressed so many of us is the sportsmanship and friendly behaviour among women footballers.
The quality of play is improving all the time, too. We have all seen blistering goals, leaping headers, athletic movement and control becoming common, while vicious fouling is an absolute rarity.
Women may sometimes be spiteful but not thuggish.
All in all, they behave like good pros with better vocabularies, too.

Maybe respectful behaviour towards authority is part of our make-up and I’m sure the refs will react strongly to rough tongues on the field.
Their greatest trials will be to ignore smart asses and big mouths in the crowd hurling abuse at them.
Although I’ve had my share of these, I shudder at the thought of some filthy chants that seem inevitable. But I live in hope that respect will win the day.
There is no good reason why women will be lesser referees just so long as they can keep cool under pressure, an ability I admire in our current refs.
The FA seem cautious about introducing women refs to men’s matches. Once they are seen to be capable and fearless in the vicinity of angry men or hostile crowds, the huge majority of fans will appreciate their skills and professional approach.
Neither must they be appointed just because they are women. There is a little too much of that on TV already.
    Read More on The Sun
It was a little odd, I thought, for the BBC to ask two women to make the draw for a round of the men’s FA Cup last season. It would not be fair if two men did the women’s draw, would it?
Fifa haven’t been so pretentious. French referee Stephanie Frappart is only 5ft 3in but players should be aware that she will not fear 6ft bruisers or anyone else as she dishes out justice on the pitch — just as it should be. More
