Sergio Ramos has knee surgery and set for months on sidelines in blow to Real Madrid legend’s Man Utd transfer hopes

OneFootball are reporting the 34-year-old had surgery on his left knee to fix his meniscus.
Ramos is likely to be out for around six to eight weeks, which would rule him out of both legs of Real’s clash with Atalanta.
The first leg is due to take place in Italy on February 24, with the return on March 16.
Ramos will also miss Real’s trip to city rivals Atletico Madrid on March 7.

He could miss ten La Liga matches in total, starting with tomorrow’s game against SD Huesca.
The defending champions are currently 10 points behind leaders Atletico, having played a game more.

Real may have to get used to life without Ramos, as reports have linked him with a summer move to Manchester United.

He is out of contract at the end of the season and recently liked an Instagram picture claiming he will be leaving the Spanish giants.
Ramos has been an ever-present figure in Real’s defence since his move from Sevilla in 2005.
He has made more than 650 appearances for the club and is fourth on the all-time list, behind Raul, Iker Casillas and Manuel Sanchis.

Chelsea want to ‘hijack Real Madrid’s move for David Alaba’ as Tuchel seeks to bolster Blues defence with contract rebel

THOMAS TUCHEL is reportedly ready to make a counter-offer to hijack Real Madrid’s bid for David Alaba.
Bayern Munich are set to wave goodbye to the long-serving Austrian defender when his contract expires in the summer.

Chelsea are one of several teams said to be interested in the 28-year-old, along with Madrid, Liverpool, and Manchester United.
According to The Guardian, the Blues want to make a last-ditch attempt to gazump the LaLiga giants.
New boss Tuchel is reportedly looking to improve his defence despite keeping clean sheets in each of his first three games in charge.
The German has opted for experience so far with Marcos Alonso and Cesar Azpilicueta returned to the team alongside Thiago Silva.

A versatile defender who started out as a midfielder, Alaba would fit into a number of positions in Tuchel’s 3-4-1-2.
But Spanish media believe a free transfer to Real Madrid is done and dusted.
A four-year deal worth £185,000-a-week has already been agreed, according to Marca.
Inter Milan full-back Achraf Hakimi has been linked to Chelsea amid the Italian club’s financial crisis.

Dayot Upamecano is another reported target with the RB Leipzig star’s £38million release clause activating in the summer.
The Blues downed London rivals Spurs 1-0 at Tottenham Stadium on Thursday night.
Tuchel said afterwards: “In general I am very pleased with the result, it is a deserved win.
“We were very good in the first half, very dominant and strong with the ball, good counter-pressing and we did not allow counter-attacks against one of the most dangerous sides.
“We lacked a little bit of precision in the box and composure to make it 2-0 and to score more goals and decide the match, so the second half was a bit hard.
“We had some easy ball loses, and we lost a little bit of ball possession and confidence, but we never lost the structure to defend, we never lost the intensity to push up high, and the courage to defend up high and up front, so I am very pleased.
“It is normal if you play a dominant game like this and you don’t score the second goal, it can happen that some minutes arrive when you have to suffer.
“But we were absolutely ready for that both mentally and physical, and I am super happy with the effort. We defended excellently.”

Real Madrid looking to cash in on Vinicius Jr after former £39m wonderkid branded ‘next Neymar’ hits ‘rock bottom’

REAL MADRID starlet Vinicius Junior could spark a transfer battle this summer with the Spanish giants reportedly ready to cash in after a drop in form.
With the 20-year-old Brazilian previously seen as one of Real’s prized assets, they are now apparently willing to part with him to offset the financial burden caused by coronavirus.

He was blamed by Spanish media for poor displays in losses to Levante and third-tier minnows Alcoyano in the Copa del Rey, while he has netted just three times this season.
Now, according to Madrid paper AS, the end of the line could be near. Vinicius has now hit ‘rock bottom’ of his time at Real.
It is the latest blow in a torrid season for the youngster, with his performance in October’s Champions League match at Borussia Monchengladbach the subject of a dressing room bust-up.
A furious Karim Benzema was caught on camera at half-time slamming his team-mate to fellow Frenchman Ferland Mendy – seeming to instruct him not to pass to Vinicius.

Benzema, in French to his compatriot, said: “Don’t play with him. On my mother’s life, he [Vinicius] is playing against us.”

Real boss Zinedine Zidane has fallen out with the Brazilian this seasonCredit: Rex Features
Manager Zinedine Zidane has used Vinicius sparingly since the turn of the year, with the starlet’s relationship with his boss souring this season.
Vinicius was reportedly looking through his phone rather than listening to Zidane’s team talk before Real’s last-16 Champions League clash at Manchester City in August.

Zidane was furious with this apparent disrespect, after Vinicius was angered by being left on the bench in favour of the out-of-form Eden Hazard.
It has all led to a drastic fall from grace for Vinicius – once dubbed the new Neymar – at the Bernabeu and he may well be looking for pastures new in the summer. More

Chelsea outcast Marcos Alonso left in transfer limbo as Real Madrid and Barcelona reject chance to sign defender

MARCOS ALONSO faces spending the rest of the season on the Chelsea bench while a move fails to materialise.
According to reports in Spain, neither Barcelona nor Real Madrid are ready to sign the left-back.

Alonso has affinity with both clubs, having come through the Madrid academy to play for the team and follow in the footsteps of his grandfather, Marcos Alonso Imaz.
And his father, Marcos Alonso Pena, starred for Barcelona during his illustrious career.
But, as reported by Mundo Deportivo, neither club is prepared to rescue the Spaniard from his Chelsea nightmare.
Real Madrid are not currently in the market for a left-back with Ferland Mendy and Marcelo well embedded, at least until the end of the season.

Barcelona would be interested in Alonso but it is said they would first need to loan out left-back Junior Firpo.
Although Serie A clubs and West Ham are reportedly monitoring Firpo, there is a lack of movement in completing a deal.
Therefore Alonso, 30, will have to try and impress new Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel in a bid to save his season.
The German opted for £50million summer signing Ben Chilwell at left-back for his first game in charge, versus Wolves in midweek.

Both Alonso and Emerson Palmieri were left on the bench and neither man was called up to replace Chilwell, when he was subbed off on 76 minutes.
But it was the former Bolton defender’s first appearance on the bench since a disastrous performance in the 3-3 draw at West Brom in September.
Frank Lampard had exiled Alonso but Tuchel may be more open minded, particularly if the player cannot find a new club.

Arsenal agree £1.8m loan transfer for Martin Odegaard for rest of season and will pay his full £38,000-a-week wages

ARSENAL have reportedly agreed a £1.8million loan move for Real Madrid midfielder Martin Odegaard.
The Gunners will fork out for the Norwegian’s entire £38,000-a-week wages, meaning his move until the end of the season will cost around £2.5m, according to The Times.

Mikel Arteta is believed to have personally called the 22-year-old to persuade him to move to the Emirates rather than stay in Spain with Real Sociedad, where he played last season.
Odegaard is due to fly into London on Sunday with a move expected to be concluded after a medical on Monday.
Due to the elite sportsperson exemption from self-isolation measures, if Odegaard returns a negative Covid-19 test, he will be free to immediately join up with Arteta’s squad.
Odegaard’s deal includes no option to buy with Madrid reluctant to sell the star, but the two clubs will discuss the situation at the end of the season, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano reports.

The creative talent is also said to have turned down a move to Ajax as he seeks game time away from the Bernabeu.
Odegaard has only made three LaLiga starts and four appearances off the bench under boss Zinedine Zidane this season.
Los Blancos are reluctant to sanction a permanent deal, amid reports Zidane will leave in the summer, as club brass want a potential new boss to have the chance to use Odegaard.
Odegaard burst onto the scene as the youngest player to star and score in the Norwegian Premier League and he joined Madrid aged just 16.

He spent the majority of his time in the Spanish giants’ B side – when Zidane was the coach – before moving to Sociedad on loan last season.
Odegaard impressed with four goals and six assists helping the Basque side to sixth place and causing Real to recall him.
Arteta is known to want to add creativity and this was underlined when his side mustered just two shots on target in being dumped out of the FA Cup on Saturday.
On the same day Arsenal confirmed Mesut Ozil’s departure, Odegaard is due to join impressive youngster Emile Smith Rowe in being tasked with providing a creative spark.
Odegaard will be the Gunners’ second loan signing of the window after Aussie keeper Mat Ryan arrived from Brighton.

Raphael Varane ‘wants to QUIT Real Madrid’ as contract runs down in 2022 putting Man Utd on transfer alert

RAPHAEL VARANE wants to quit Real Madrid with his contract expiring in 2022, reports say.
The Frenchman has been at the club since 2011, joining aged 17, and has since won 18 trophies in the Spanish capital.

But according to SPORT, Varane feels his time with Madrid is drawing to a close, leaving him considering a new challenge.
His contract expires next summer, meaning he is allowed to talk to clubs over a free transfer in 12 months time.
To avoid losing the 27-year-old for nothing, Madrid need either cash in and sell him or convince the defender to stay and extend his deal.
But, it is understood Varane, who has been linked with Manchester United in the past, will not sign a new contract.

That is despite having a strong relationship with manager Zinedine Zidane, both World Cup winners for France.
Zidane also faces losing club captain and Varane’s defensive partner Sergio Ramos.
Ramos’ contract runs out in just six months time and the player is yet to commit his future to the club.
Contract talks with Bernabeu bosses have reportedly dragged on due to disputes over the length and financial terms.

They have a policy of only offering one-year contracts to players over the age of 30 but Ramos, 34, wants a two-season guarantee.
It leaves the LaLiga champions fearing he could make a similar exit as Cristiano Ronaldo, who made the shock move to Juventus in 2018.
Zidane said this month: “Are we going to have a Cristiano case? I don’t know what will happen with Ramos.
“He is here with us at the moment.”

Martin Odegaard sparks transfer scramble as frustrated Madrid star ‘sensationally asks to leave’ amid lack of game-time

MARTIN ODEGAARD has ‘sensationally’ asked to leave Real Madrid, according to reports.
The Norwegian starlet became the club’s youngest-ever player when replacing Cristiano Ronaldo off the bench aged just 16 years and 157 days old.

But since then he has failed to kick-on at the Bernabeu and been sent out on a number of loan spells.
However, he finally began to show what all the fuss was about with a series of impressive displays at Real Sociedad last season.
Manchester United allegedly failed in several bids to land Odegaard as interest in the attacking midfielder soared.
Madrid held off interest from the Old Trafford outfit to bring Odegaard back to the Bernabeu this summer.

But the 22-year-old has struggled for minutes under Zinedine Zidane and Marca now claims he asked to be allowed to leave.
And they state the ‘writing was on the wall’ for the playmaker after he was left out of the squad for the Copa del Rey tie tomorrow with minnows Alcoyano.
Odegaard has grown hugely frustrated at being restricted to just a paltry total of 367 minutes on the pitch this campaign.
And it appears the latest snub has proven to be the final straw, leading to him asking to leave.

Whether or not United attempt to bring him to England again remains to be seen.
SunSport revealed United club scout Marcel Bout was spotted watching Odegaard in Sociedad’s 3-0 win over Valencia last February.
And Madrid were even thought to have offered the playmaker to United in a potential deal for Paul Pogba before the summer.

Bayern eye Real Madrid defender Eder Militao as transfer replacement for David Alaba but face competition from England

BAYERN MUNICH are considering a move for Real Madrid defender Eder Militao, according to reports.
The Bundesliga champions are looking to replace David Alaba, who is reportedly on the verge of a move to Real Madrid.

Eder Militao, 22, has struggled to hold down a place at Real Madrid since joining from Porto in 2019

Alaba is out of contract at Bayern this summer, with Liverpool and Juventus also rumoured to be interested.
It is believed he will not sign a new deal with the reigning European champions.
Bayern are not the only club to have made an enquiry about Militao, with Juventus, Borussia Dortmund and Tottenham all interested, according to Goal.
The defender is also believed to be on Liverpool’s radar, although it is unlikely they will be signing a defender in January due to the pandemic.

Ramos is one of Real Madrid’s top earners but is demanding more to stay on for a further two years, claim reports
The 22-year-old joined Real at the beginning of last season but has made just 23 appearances in all competitions.
He was overlooked for their recent Super Cup loss to Athletic Bilbao, with Nacho replacing the injured Raphael Varane.
Militao was part of the Brazil squad that won the Copa America in 2019 and has previously played for Sao Paulo and Porto.

The defender remains in Brazil boss Tite’s plans but was left out of the squad for the latest round of World Cup qualifiers.
He does want to remain at Real and fight for his place, although he may change his mind if he is being left out of the Brazil squad.
If he does leave, Real will want to recoup the majority of the €50 million they paid for the player in 2019.
