Man Utd line up Jules Kounde as Raphael Varane transfer alternative but Sevilla demand £60m for defender

MANCHESTER UNITED will try and sign Sevilla defender Jules Kounde if they can’t get Raphael Varane, according to reports. The 22-year-old is believed to have been identified as an alternative to the Real Madrid star – but his £60million price tag could be a stumbling block.

According to Spanish newspaper AS, Sevilla will let Kounde leave the club to raise some much-needed transfer funds.
The LaLiga side are said to want €70m for the France international – around £60m – but have received no bids close to that amount.
Manchester City are believed to have made a £55m bid for Kounde in September 2020 before signing Ruben Dias from Benfica.
It proved to be a wise move from Pep Guardiola’s side as Dias helped them win the Premier League, receiving the FWA, Prem and City Player of the Year awards.
Real Madrid are rumoured to be one of the clubs interested in signing Kounde – but that move hinges on Varane’s future.
The 28-year-old reportedly wants to leave the Bernabeu this summer and the Spanish giants may accept a bid as low as £40m.
Varane’s current deal expires next summer and it is believed Real would prefer to sell him and generate funds to sign Kounde.
United are the favourites to buy the four-time Champions League winner and he’s rumoured to have ‘given his word’ to joining the club.

But if a move for Varane was to collapse, United would reportedly turn their attention to signing Kounde.
Kounde has been linked with several clubs during the last few months, including Chelsea and Tottenham.
The centre-back helped Sevilla win the Europa League final in August 2020 and made 34 LaLiga appearances last term.
He was also part of France’s squad for Euro 2020, making his debut against Wales in June.
The Red Devils have already agreed one of the biggest transfers of the summer – luring Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho to Old Trafford.
United are also rumoured to be offering England defender Luke Shaw a new contract soon following his excellent form at Euro 2020.

Kylian Mbappe ‘wants BANNED clause inserted in new PSG contract’ to allow Real Madrid transfer

KYLIAN MBAPPE wants to insert a BANNED clause into any new Paris Saint-Germain contract to allow a transfer to Real Madrid, according to reports. The French forward, 22, has one year left to run on his current deal at the Parc des Princes.
Kylian Mbappe’s future remains unclear with no exit clauses permitted in Ligue 1 contractsCredit: AP
He continues to be linked with a move away with Real Madrid and Liverpool both keen.
And according to Marca via Bild, he will only put pen to paper on an extension if PSG include an exit clause.
That would mean Mbappe could secure a departure if a certain club – in this case Los Blancos – made a suitable bid.
PSG would therefore get their star man tied down to a new contract so he would not leave for free next summer.
And Mbappe would keep his employers happy while stopping himself from being frozen out of a dream transfer to the Bernabeu.
However, exit clauses are outlawed in Ligue 1.
So the arrangement cannot be written into the legal documents.
Instead, Mbappe would need to sort a verbal agreement with PSG bosses.

The relationship between the striker and the club is good and PSG chiefs will be reluctant to do anything that will scupper their chances to keeping Mbappe beyond next summer.
As things stand, he would only leave in the current transfer window with PSG’s blessing – although it is unlikely anyone will be able to afford him anyway due to the financial impact of coronavirus.
However, reports this week suggested a bust-up between the two parties as Mbappe went off on holiday.
Before that, president Nasser Al-Khelaifi stepped in to take over the talks to try and tie Mbappe down to the new deal.
A source told Get French Football News: “Nasser gets on very well with the family and has done since Kylian’s signing in 2017.

“There is a real respect between them.”
Any new deal is expected to see Mbappe rewarded with a slight pay rise from his current £430k-a-week pre-tax package.
But Mbappe is thought to be more concerned with the Parc des Princes project – and wants to see Achraf Hakimi and Gianluigi Donnarumma follow Georginio Wijnaldum into the club.
He scored 42 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions last season but it was a campaign that ended in disappointment for PSG after their Ligue 1 and Champions League failures.
PSG are particularly desperate not to allow Mbappe to leave with the 2022 World Cup being staged in Qatar, where PSG’s owner Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani is the head of state.

Real Madrid want Man Utd flop Donny van de Beek on loan as part of £50m Raphael Varane transfer

OLD TRAFFORD outcast Donny van de Beek could have a pivotal role in Manchester United’s bid to land Raphael Varane.United have held initial talks with Real Madrid about signing the French centre-back, who would cost around £50million.

But Real are also keen on taking Van de Beek, 24, to the Bernabeu on a year-long loan, with a commitment to buy 12 months down the line.
And United believe that gives them a key bargaining tool in their pursuit of Varane, who tops their list of centre-back targets.
Varane, 28, has one more season left on his deal and can sign a pre-contract agreement in January.
As much as the Spanish giants would love to keep him, they also do not  want to lose him on a free — especially as they are in such a cash-strapped state at the moment.
So United are more likely to play ball over Van de Beek, if it gives them a little wriggle room in signing Varane, who is also on Paris Saint-Germain’s radar.
Ironically the Red Devils pipped Real to sign the Dutch midfielder in a £35m move from Ajax last  summer.
Madrid had got as far as agreeing personal terms but were forced to pull the plug when they failed to move on some of their current midfielders.
But they have stayed in touch with Van de Beek’s advisers after his move to Old Trafford turned into something of a nightmare.

They are willing to pay a £2m loan fee and pick up all his  wages ahead of a permanent deal next  summer, when they expect to be in a healthier financial position.
And Old Trafford top brass, keen to recoup much of their initial outlay, are prepared to bend a little if that means they get Varane, who has been with Real for ten years.
United knocked back an earlier loan enquiry from Ajax, with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer telling Van de Beek before the end of last season that he still had faith in him.
Van de Beek arrived in England as one of Holland’s new golden generation, yet made only four Premier League starts as he struggled to adapt.
But he has refused to rock the boat,  impressing Solskjaer and his coaching team with his attitude and commitment.
Meanwhile, forward Mason Greenwood has already started his pre-  season training, a few days before United officially return to work.
Greenwood, 19, was forced to pull out of England’s Euros squad with an underlying injury — but has been working with the conditioners and in the gym this week.

Chelsea ‘make transfer offer’ for Sergio Ramos with Real Madrid legend, 35, set to leave club on a free

CHELSEA have reportedly made an offer to Real Madrid defender Sergio Ramos. The centre-half recently confirmed he will leave the Spanish giants at the end of the season as a free agent.

Paris Saint-Germain are believed to be the frontrunners for his signature.
But according to El Chiringuito, Chelsea are one of four clubs to have offered the 35-year-old terms.
The others in the race are Manchester City, Bayern Munich and PSG.
ESPN claim the veteran defender is going through the pros and cons of each potential move.
It’s said that City are willing to offer Ramos a two-year contract at Eastlands, which they’d ‘reassess’ in the summer of 2023.
Ramos, however, is said to have reservations about a move to Manchester.
The four-time Champions League winner is reportedly concerned about the ‘impact’ a move to Manchester would have on his four sons, and wife Pilar Rubio.

Ramos’ imminent exit from Madrid brings about the end of a 16-year love affair with Los Blancos.
But according to Real president Florentino Perez, the former Sevilla man was offered a new deal at the Bernabeu.
During an appearance on El Transistor, Perez said: “I had a tough time at Sergio Ramos’ farewell [event].
“I love Sergio Ramos like a son.
“I wasn’t with him at the [farewell] press conference because I’ve never been to a press conference with any player.
“I have an adoration for Sergio Ramos, and I’m not going to talk about the bickering.
“He has been a legend at Real Madrid and that’s what we Real Madrid fans are left with.
“We offered him a contract, we gave him a deadline and he didn’t accept it.
“He was thinking about other things and life goes on. He will do very well for sure, and this is his home.
“I would be delighted if Sergio Ramos went to a club that offered him what we have not been able to offer him.”

Mbappe in showdown talks with PSG president over new £430k-a-week contract amid Liverpool and Madrid transfer interest

KYLIAN MBAPPE is in showdown talks with Paris Saint-Germain’s president over a new £430,000-a-week contract, according to reports. The French superstar’s contract expires next summer as transfer interest hots up from Liverpool and Real Madrid.

Negotiations between Mbappe’s agents and PSG sporting director Leonardo had failed to result in a new deal getting signed.
Leonardo was apparently more fixated on impressing the striker with finances rather than on-pitch ambitions.
And according to Get French Football News, president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has taken over the talks to try and tie Mbappe down.
A source said: “Nasser gets on very well with the family and has done since Kylian’s signing in 2017.
“There is a real respect between them.”

But Mbappe is thought to be more concerned with the Parc des Princes project – and wants to see Achraf Hakimi and Gianluigi Donnarumma follow Georginio Wijnaldum into the club.
The report adds there have been further complications with several representatives getting involved wanting a cut.

Mbappe, who signed for PSG permanently for £162million in 2018, is widely considered one of the best footballers on the planet and expected to win several Ballons d’Or.
He scored 42 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions last season but it was a campaign that ended in disappointment for PSG after their Ligue 1 and Champions League failures.
Liverpool and Real Madrid both want to sign Mbappe.
Neither club, however, have made an official approach to do so because they cannot fund a deal this summer due to the effects of the pandemic.
They are therefore hoping Mbappe refuses to put pen to paper and leaves as a free agent next summer.
PSG, of course, are desperate not to allow that to happen – especially with the World Cup being staged in Qatar, where PSG’s owner Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani is the head of state.

Liverpool ‘enquire about Kylian Mbappe’ with Reds prepared to rival Real Madrid for blockbuster transfer from PSG

Real Madrid are believed to be the frontrunners to sign Mbappe, but according to Marca Liverpool are also in the frame.
PSG chairman Nasser Al-Khelaifi has been bold in his prediction that Mbappe, currently with France at the Euros, will be going nowhere.
But there is the very real chance that Mbappe could see out the final year and leave on a free in 2022.
Marca adds that Liverpool’s enquiry is ‘more out of hope than expectation’ that they could manage to bring the 22-year-old to Anfield this summer.
Real Madrid are growing increasingly confident PSG will be forced to sell this summer or risk losing him for nothing.
Los Blancos are struggling financially due to the pandemic but know they can raise cash in player sales in preparation to sign Mbappe.
Luka Jovic, Dani Ceballos and Brahim Diaz are believed to be up for grabs to make way for the rapid forward.
Real Madrid made their interest in Mbappe well known in 2017 when he left Monaco but the club already boasted Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema in attack.

The situation is now different at the Bernabeu with Mbappe told he will become the club’s main man.
The player has made no secret of his desire to play in the famous white colours in the past, calling it a ‘dream.’
So Liverpool might have a hard job persuading Mbappe to spurn Real Madrid for Anfield.

But the Galacticos are still struggling financially due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and are looking to slash their wage bill.
Austrian star David Alaba, 29, has arrived already on a free transfer from Bayern Munich.
But Marca are now claiming that club president Florentino Perez has already informed Ancelotti that there will be no money available for new arrivals.
That is unless either the Paris-Saint-Germain or Borussia Dortmund strikers become available.
Los Blancos know they can raise cash in player sales in preparation to sign Mbappe or Haaland.
Luka Jovic, Dani Ceballos and Brahim Diaz are believed to be up for grabs to make way for the rapid forward.

Real Madrid will move for Leicester defender Wesley Fofana if Man Utd stump up for Raphael Varane transfer

LEICESTER centre-back Wesley Fofana has emerged as a target for Real Madrid to replace Raphael Varane should Manchester United sign the Frenchman. The 20-year-old starred in his debut season in England after joining the Foxes in a £36.5million deal from Saint-Etienne last year.

Fofana featured 38 times under Brendan Rodgers as he helped Leicester finish fifth in the Premier League while also proving instrumental in their FA Cup-winning run.
And according to Fichajes, he could be on his way out of the King Power Stadium with Carlo Ancelotti said to be eyeing a swoop for the youngster.
However they state the potential move depends on whether Los Blancos sell Varane, with the World Cup winner heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford.
It has been claimed that the four-time Champions League winner, 28, is keen on linking up with the Red Devils.
Varane has just one year left on his contract in Spain and it remains to be seen whether he will follow Sergio Ramos out the door this summer.
The Spanish legend, 35, decided to quit Real after 16 years of service after refusing to sign a one-year deal.
Should Real press ahead with a move for Fofana, Leicester will likely command a huge fee considering the player is contracted until 2025.
But Leicester would be open to selling the defender should Fofana express an interest to leave.
