‘I have no idea’ – Eden Hazard denies Chelsea transfer interest and commits to Real Madrid project ahead of World Cup

EDEN HAZARD appears to have squashed any rumours of his Chelsea return after revealing there has been no contact between himself and The Blues. Hazard, 31, swapped Stamford Bridge for Real Madrid’s Santiago Bernabeu in 2019 in a deal that could have risen to £130million.

However, persistent injuries have prevented him from ever getting a long run in the team and this has subsequently seen him fail to perform at the levels he showed during his time at Chelsea.
And having played just 72 times for Los Blancos so far, it had seemed his days in Spain were numbered last summer and even more recently.
Reports of interest have come flooding in with Newcastle, Aston Villa and Chelsea among the most interested candidates, though Hazard appears to have dashed hopes of a Chelsea reunion.
Speaking to Marca, Hazard revealed there had been no option for him to leave Madrid in recent years, and when asked specifically about whether Chelsea had contacted him he reaffirmed this stance with a simple: “No.”

The Belgian was then asked how he thought the news had come about, to which he said: “I have no idea.”
But while Hazard committed to Madrid for the remainder of the season, he did hint that he would be open to leaving the club next summer when his contract has just one year remaining.
He added: “In January it is impossible, (to leave) because I have family and I like the city.
“But in summer it is possible that I will leave. I have one more year on my contract and it’s the club’s decision.

Hazard has only played six times this season for Los Blancos, three times in LaLiga and three times in the Champions League.
He has insisted that he wants to play more, but was honest in saying that he had not been good enough to earn a starting spot in the Belgian World Cup team.
He said: “Judging from what I did in the last two seasons, no. But from what I did in the last 15 seasons, yes.
“I have even more desire to show that I still know how to play football. I didn’t become useless in two or three years.

“This will be my third [World Cup]. I want to show Belgians that I am still there and that they can count on their captain.
“This may be our last chance of winning something with this great generation. And we are going to try it all.”
The potential loss of his spot in the Belgian team will be on Hazard’s mind, as at the club level he is far behind Vinicius Jnr and Rodrygo in the pecking order at the Santiago Bernabeu.
While he admits that he does not want to leave Madrid, the 31-year-old concedes he may have to evaluate his options after the World Cup.
He added: “It’s complicated because I want to play more. But these things happen in sport. There is a coach who takes decisions.
“As I have always said, when a manager wins it is complicated to question his choices. But I accept it and I try to show every day at training that I can play.
“It’s up to me when I am on the pitch to show what I am capable of and to try to make people believe in me because there are people who have doubts about my qualities, even though I don’t have any doubt. I am sure we are going to see them again.

Real Madrid hwere said to be interested in the 30-year-old but president Florentino Perez has been put off by his age and price-tag, according to El Nacional.
The report has suggested that PSG, however, could use the Qatar World Cup as an opportunity for club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi to “try to speak personally with Son” about a move.
The Ligue 1 club have been interested in Son in the past but opted against going for him, but the uncertainty surrounding Lionel Messi’s future has opened up the possibility of a fresh move.

Messi will have plenty of options should he decide against a stay in France, with former clubs Barcelona and Newell’s Old Boys keen on a reunion.
David Beckham’s MLS franchise Inter Miami has also been linked with a move.
Should Messi leave PSG, then it could open up a spot in the attack for Son to join the club and line up alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
However, the report also suggests that PSG will not be the only club in the running to sign Son as it states Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea are all interested in him.
