On Friday he called time on his career after being deemed surplus to requirements at Dutch amateur club Kozakken Boys.
Speaking to ESPN on the move, he said: “The realisation that this is the end is definitely hard to swallow.”
However, Drenthe has already planned out his next steps.
He added: “I’ll think about that next week. I don’t want to become a coach anyway, but something with technical policy, that seems like something to me.

“The focus is now on working for TV. There are some really fun, new projects coming up.”
Drenthe had a tumultuous football career that saw him star for 15 different clubs across England, Holland, Spain, Turkey, Russia and the United Arab Emirates.
His career even included an initial retirement in 2016, before returning in 2018.
Some of his most notable spells came with Real Madrid, Everton, Reading and Sparta Rotterdam.

But it was his off-pitch antics which often made the headlines.
Drenthe had career spells as a rapper, actor, TV pundit, healthcare worker and fashion shopkeeper.
He admitted he was not ready to be a footballer and said his party lifestyle was a big hindrance during his early career.
The winger and left-back had starred alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema at Madrid.
His Madrid spell was followed by his time with Russian side Alania Vladikavkaz, a time when he recalls drinking vodka on the team bus to deal with the boredom he experienced there.
Drenthe was also named a shock candidate to take over from Daniel Craig as James Bond thanks in part to his previous acting role as a gangsta in Dutch crime drama Mocro Maffia in 2021. More

Haaland’s agent warns Man City to enjoy him while they can before transfer exit.. and here’s five clubs he could join

Despite enjoying life in Manchester, his agent Rafaela Pimenta revealed that the door is open to him leaving City in the future.
When asked about reports linking him to other clubs like Real Madrid, she said: “Erling is the master of own destiny, always.
“He will always do what’s good for him and for Man City.
“When they all are open to make a change, it will happen.

“Erling will always be respectful. For sure respect has to be on both club and player side. I’ve no doubts, Man City will respect him.
“If something has to happen one day, we will agree on every step together with the club. It’s always about respect.”
Pimenta was asked if Haaland is happy at the Eithad, to which she replied: “You have to ask him. And this does not mean the opposite. I know he is, but I don’t like to speak for others.
“I see it like this, the sporting result comes when things are good. When there is positivity, harmony, energy… things happen.”

On Haaland’s relationship with Pep Guardiola, she added: “You have to ask Erling this, but as far as I know, from the feedback I have, they get along very well.”
The ex-Borussia Dortmund goalscorer’s dad Alf-Inge previously suggested his son wants to play across Europe, saying: “I think Erling wants to test out his capabilities in every league.
“Then he can stay in every league for three to four years maximum.
“He could have two-and-a-half years in Germany, two-and-a-half in England, and then in Spain, Italy, France, right?”
Following Pimenta and his father’s comments, SunSport have taken a look at five club’s that could be Haaland’s next destination with him already conquering England and Germany.
    Real Madrid
Karim Benzema departed in the summer for Al-Ittihad and was replaced by veteran striker Joselu.
Real Madrid are expected to be in the market for a big-money attacker this summer with Kylian Mbappe heavily linked with the them.
But if they decide not to sign the PSG star, Haaland could emerge as an alternative with Los Blancos reportedly ready to smash the transfer world record and bid £200million for him.
Pimenta was recently spotted watching a game at the Santiago Bernabeu which caused speculation to rise.
    Barcelona
Barcelona could be another LaLiga destination for Haaland.
Current goalscorer Robert Lewandowski is still performing but is now aged 35.
Barca could find it tough to raise the funds to tempt Haaland and City with the club battling financial difficulties.
    Juventus
If Haaland wants to go to Serie A then Juventus could be his best.
The Turin-based side tried to sign him when he was a teenager in 2017.
But they decided not to push through the £2m deal they struck with Molde.

Juventus are one of the only club’s in Italy that could potentially afford the Norwegian and they are reportedly open to selling striker Dusan Vlahovic should a good offer come in.
    PSG
PSG have been the home to several of the world’s best players since they were taken over by Qataris in 2011.
With Lionel Messi and Neymar gone, and Mbappe considering an exit, a gap could open up for Haaland to be the latest global star to land in Paris.
Money is rarely a hurdle for the club and they are the only team in France that can afford him should he want to experience Ligue 1.
    Chelsea
A shock City alternative could be Chelsea.

Mega-rich owner Todd Boehly has splashed the cash on a range of players but the Blues still lack a world-class striker.
Unlike Manchester United, Chelsea are not rivals to Haaland’s current club and they could hand him an exciting new challenge should he want to stay in the Premier League.

Gareth Bale fires warning to Jude Bellingham about life at Real Madrid and tells him how to avoid ‘a lot of stick’

GARETH BALE warned Jude Bellingham he will have to become a “puppet” and “play the game” at Real Madrid.Bale spent nine years at Real and won three LaLiga titles as well as five Champions League trophies until his acrimonious exit in 2022.

The legendary forward stood out at the Santiago Bernabeu, where he formed a dominating trio with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, but fell out with Spanish media.
The Tottenham hero suffered a raft of injuries during his final few years at Madrid and struggled for minutes but still played for Wales during various international breaks.
That led to a series of gruesome attacks from the press as Marca branded him “the Welsh parasite” after he left for international duty last year.
The 34-year-old, who retired in January, made a special guest appearance on A League of their Own and revealed all he wanted to do during his time with Los Blancos was “play football and go home”.

But Bale advised Bellingham not to follow his example as even his stunning start, which saw him score 13 goals and three assists in 14 matches, won’t save him from getting ” a lot of stick”.
The Welshman argues the England international will have to put up with the media, and preferably be speaking in Spanish.
Bale said: “The biggest advice [is] play the game at Madrid.
“If you don’t play the game and do what the media want, speak to them and basically be a puppet, you do get a lot of stick.

“You’ll see a lot of Galacticos, they’ll act like Galacticos, do what the press want, playing the game of being at Real Madrid.
“That’s probably where I was a bit of a downfall. I didn’t want to do it.
“I just wanted to play football and go home. It hindered me and that made them attack me a bit more.
“So my advice would be, honestly, just play the game of Real Madrid off the field.
“You have to speak after games, make sure you try and speak in Spanish, do those kinds of things.” More

Real Madrid had been favourites to land the striker in June but his astronomical salary of £30m per year, his recent performances and the club’s “financial issues” have led to doubts.
According to Foot Mercato, Real’s hesitations have led to Liverpool as well as Bayern considering a serious bid for the 24-year-old.
The Reds have been keeping an eye on the France international since 2017 when he joined PSG initially on loan from Monaco before his permanent move a year later.
The Merseysiders’ manager Jurgen Klopp even met for talks with Mbappe before his move to Parc des Princes.

Recent reports also suggested Liverpool and the Frenchman’s camp have remained in contact in the period since.
The versatile forward confirmed there were talks with the Premier League giants six years ago and they had a “greater chance” of signing him.
Mbappe said last year: “We talked a little bit, but not too much. We talked a little bit.
“I talked to Liverpool because it’s the favourite club of my mum, my mum loves Liverpool. I don’t know why, you will have to ask her!

“It’s a good club and we met them five years ago. When I was in Monaco I met them. It’s a big club.”
According to Sport 1, Bayern are also ready to join the bidding war for Mbappe.
The German champions hold a “serious” interest for the 2018 World Cup winner even though they understand how “complicated” a potential deal could turn out to be. More

Man Utd and Liverpool handed major Kylian Mbappe transfer boost with Real Madrid move ‘at risk due to financial issues’

REAL MADRID have sparked a double red alert with claims they can’t afford to sign Kylian Mbappe.Manchester United and Liverpool have been monitoring the PSG striker’s situation as his contract expires next summer.

The Telegraph suggest “financial issues” have dented Real’s chances of recruiting their long-time top target.
Now Premier League giants, including Chelsea, might ponder launching a staggering offer for the France star in January.
Mbappe, 24, has already rejected a reported offer from Saudi club Al-Hilal worth around 1billion euros (£787m) in wages and a transfer fee close to 300m euros (£262m).
Back in July the pacy 73-cap hero was given two weeks to extend his current PSG deal – or be sold.

But he never signed – and instead was retained.
The French champions will hate risking losing Mbappe for free at the end of the season.
But Luis Enrique’s Ligue 1 leaders are also determined to mount a serious challenge for the Champions League.
And assuming they squeeze into the group stages, selling their star player in the January transfer window would put a huge dent in those ambitions.

Real have also denied holding talks with PSG over the ex-Monaco man.
In a dream world the Spanish giants would love to field Mbappe behind their £115m England midfielder Jude Bellingham.
But the club said in a statement: “Given information in the media about negotiations between the player Kylian Mbappe and our club, Real Madrid state that this information is categorically false.
“Negotiations have not taken place with a player who belongs to PSG.” More

Real Madrid line up summer transfer for Man City’s Erling Haaland as agent heads to Bernabeu and release clause emerges

ERLING HAALAND could be the subject of a transfer tug-of-war in the summer after his agent was reportedly spotted at Real Madrid’s stadium. The Manchester City ace, who has already scored 15 goals this season, has remained in the Spanish giants’ background plans since emerging as one of European football’s most lethal forwards.

Speculation has been rife that Madrid could launch a bid to try and prise the 23-year-old away from Pep Guardiola’s side.
And this has showed no sign of cooling after Haaland’s agent Rafaela Pimenta was spotted at the Bernabeu to watch Real Madrid’s win over Braga in the Champions League on Wednesday, according to AS.
That is despite Pimenta not representing any men’s players from either club.
The report adds that Haaland’s long-term future could be thrown into doubt thanks to a release clause which activates in the summer.

That being said, Madrid would need a cough up £175million to match the clause.
Pimenta, the successor to the late Mino Raiola’s agency empire, has previously insisted on always giving clients options for the future.
She previously told AS: “I am in favor of freedom. It’s my battle.
“One of my priorities as an agent is to offer the player what I call ‘the key to the door’.

“When the player goes to a club I do everything to create the conditions so that the key to the door is in his hands.”
However, the report suggests there are currently no negotiations ongoing between the parties over a move for Haaland, with such discussions being saved til the summer.
The Norwegian finished runner-up in this year’s Ballon d’Or behind Lionel Messi, but did claim the Gerd Muller prize for deadliest striker as a consolation.
Madrid have reportedly had a tough time making a choice between signing Haaland or Kylian Mbappe.
A report from Italy had suggested they had picked Mbappe over Haaland to combine with new superstar Jude Bellingham.
This was followed up by reports in Spain saying they had chosen not to sign Mbappe and would instead pick the ex-Borussia Dortmund star. More
