    Man Utd legend Wes Brown went bankrupt over huge debt to taxman and car firm after losing millions in property deals

    WES BROWN reportedly went bankrupt over a huge debt to the taxman and a car company.He allegedly lost millions of pounds in failed property deals that shattered the former footballer’s wealth – and is now renting from Marcus Rashford.

    Brown, 43, spent 19 years at Manchester United – coming through the academy to make 262 appearances, winning 11 major trophies.
    He also earned 23 senior England caps before finishing his club career with spells at Sunderland, Blackburn and then Kerala Blasters in India.

    But according to the Daily Mail, he fell into a six-figure debt with HMRC and failed on car repayments.

    The report adds that two creditors lobbied for Brown to be made bankrupt.
    It is said the former £50,000-a-week ace only owed a few thousand pounds to the car finance firm.
    But it was a series of property deals that went wrong and scuppered the 1999 Treble winner, known as one of the nicest men in football.
    Brown lived a lavish lifestyle during his 20-year relationship with his wife and the mother of his three children Leanne from Real Housewives of Cheshire.

    But their divorce was costly and has left Brown moving into a modest rented pad at ‘mate’s rates’ from United striker Rashford, while former team-mates Michael Carrick and Wayne Rooney have been particularly supportive of their pal.

    A source told the Mail: “It may seem like Wes was earning big money — to most people he was — but the trouble was he was also trying to keep up with the lifestyle of team-mates earning five or six times more than he was.
    “Most of his money disappeared in bad property deals. He overpaid on the farm that Leanne lives in. He spent something like £6million or £7m to buy that.
    “They have tried to sell it but haven’t managed to, even after lowering the price to £4.75m. Any money left is tied up in the farm. 
    “A previous property of theirs was once listed at £4.5m but took seven years to sell, finally going for £2.4million — almost half price.”
    The report adds that Leanne thought she was owed a whopping £500,000 from fellow former Housewives co-star Dawn Ward.
    However, Brown’s ex-wife is said to have written off that debt.

      Premier League winner Mahrez, 29, and fashion student Ward, 22, had gone out for a spin in his Audi to Hale Village when they bumped into World Cup winner Mendy.
      Mahrez kept a low profile as he walked round with the hood up on his white hoodie but kissed his new lady on the cheek as they strolled past shops.
      Ward is the daughter of Real Housewives of Cheshire star Dawn and former Blackburn Rovers and Bradford City striker Ashley.
      The couple recently came back from a Meet The Parents-style break from the south of France.

      Videos posted on social media showed Mahrez, his girlfriend and her family enjoying a lunch at a posh beach restaurant in Cannes before later partying at the exclusive Medusa nightspot.
      Other images showed Taylor flying by private jet to the French coast with a female pal.
      The group also chartered a private yacht for a trip around the Mediterranean Sea.
      The Sun on Sunday revealed in February how dad-of-two Mahrez – who recently had three luxury watches stolen in a raid on his £500,000 penthouse – and Taylor had started dating after he split with wife Rita, 25.

      A source told The Sun on Sunday: “Taylor and Riyad have been close for quite some time now, but it’s still a big step to go on holiday with the parents of your girlfriend.
      “But he likes them and they think he’s a lovely, respectful guy.
      “He gets on well with Ashley because he is a former footballer too so understands the pressures of the job and the game.
      “And he’s managed to charm Dawn. Most importantly for Dawn and Ashley, Taylor is happy so that’s what is most important to them.
      “Riyad also feels comfortable with Taylor because her family is very wealthy so he knows she likes him for who he is rather than any Wag lifestyle he can offer her.
